I have struggled for years with bronchitis. Mullein ultimately helped a lot along with quercetin and black seed oil (cumin oil).

Now, when I take those combined with ivermectin, I don't have bronchitis for more than a few days. It's just making sure I always have it all on hand! I use a powerful mullein tincture (Not Natures Answer- that one didn't seem to work).

Mullein Leaf for Bronchitis and Lung Issues

I recently visited Florida for a vacation. Every time I'm there I visit a local herbalist and her shop “Merlin's” to bounce ideas off of her and her vast knowledge and years of experience.

The subject we were talking about was phlegmy/mucus cough. She suggested Mullein Leaf. Drank as a tea, tincture or steam inhalant.

The ancient Greek physician, pharmacologist, and botanist Dioscorides, recommended the herb for lung diseases of the lung. Mullein is quite beneficial for people afflicted with asthma and bronchitis. Helps to maintain a healthy respiratory system. The fresh leaves boiled in milk and consumed daily is a traditional Irish folk remedy for tuberculosis. You can drink the tea, or can even inhale the vapor of the plant leaves in hot water. It can also be beneficial when you are suffering from nasal congestion. Native Indians even use the dried leaves of the herb to make herbal cigarettes.

My GF has had a phlegmy/mucus cough for about a month now and it sounds like it's getting worse. I had mullein tincture with me (yea, I carry weird stuff with me to the beach) so when we got back to the beach house, I went thru the kitchen cabinets looking for a pot to make an improvised steaming pot out of. I found a Faberware 1-Qt saucepan with a pouring lip on the edge with a lid (BTW this pot makes the best steamer I ever used).

So I poured 10oz of water into pot, put the lid on and waited til the water started boiling. The steam came shooting out of the lip. I then put 2 dropperful of mullein tincture into the boiling water and quickly placed the lid back on the pot. I had my GF inhale the steam for 5 minutes. Take a break of a minute and restart inhaling for another 5 minutes.

About one hour later, my GF stated her lungs felt open, could breathe better, and not really coughing as before. She did notice she felt dried up.

So, based on this experiment I would say steaming mullein tincture is a direct route to the lungs with fast results.

Hi everybody. I have chronic bronchitis for 3 years. Decided I had to stop with inhalers (bad side effects) and test natural options. What has helped me the most is mullein leaf herb. I take 3 (500 mg) capsules per day (1 with each meal). The herb shop lady told me to try it and very glad I did. Highly recommend for mucus conditions in lungs.

This is the only thing I catch, bronchitis, for up to 4 months at a time. Found out my windpipe collapses while I am sick which makes it very hard for me to breath all those months. For the cough, if you eat 2 bananas a day, every day (with the speckles on the skin is the best time to eat) or you can take NAC supplement, both will work. I have it right now and I found something that will take 80% of the burn in the lungs away…it is not holistic though, have some gout medicine (indomethacin, 25 mg) which works 80% to take the burn away! Cannot find any holistic that can do that so far. I tried the methylene blue breathing in nebulizer, first through mouth but it burned going down so tried by mouth but the taste is terrible, could not do so just doing drops (10 at a time in distilled water with straw). Trying several suggestions on this site to see if it can turn this around, going on my 4th week (doing lomatium and mullein and lots of supplements, h. peroxide). Just adore this site, thank you for everyone's input!!!

I diagnosed myself with viral bronchitis picked up while in public. Actually, it may be bacterial because of the symptoms. I probably picked up a virus or bacterium that invaded mu Upper respiratory tract and led to the bronchitis. Please do not go in public when you're sick. 7 miserable days later I now feel much better. I did not go to the doctor, as I treated myself at home. It was rough going but I am almost back to normal. 1 more day should do it, other than still having some bronchial secretions.

Highly recommend a pot of water heated to steam with 4 drops peppermint and 6 drops eucalyptus oils in it. Add 2 drops clove oil for sore throats. Do this 3 or 4 times/day about 15 mins or longer each time. Drink an organic non caffeine tea every 6 hrs. I used ginger pear tea with chamomile and lemon. I added more organic lemon juice to taste and 2 tablespoons of RAW organic honey. I added a few drops of clove oil and 2 drops of mountain oregano oil. Do not use more oregano as it is powerful and will burn your mouth, but two drops is fine. Add 2 drops of peppermint oil too. Get plenty of rest and sunshine For your immune system. Take some vitamin d too. Try not to eat too much as the blood digesting the food could be used to fight the inflammation. I should be ready to go to church tomorrow. 7-8 days to fix what can easily take up to a month to improve with traditional medical advice. hopes this helps someone.

NAC N-Acetyl-Cysteine for Lung Disease

Recently I had a round with a lung infection. (I need to find a new hobby and stop going around sick people)

Things that did NOT work…. Nebulizing colloidal silver with grapefruit seed extract, nebulize and internally chlorine dioxide, homemade vapor rub, herbal blend tinctures….

Currently I started to take cayenne pepper in milk which really got the phlegm out and coughing up oysters (gross). But, I started to get a strange pain in my right lower lung (felt like a large mass of thick phlegm was stuck in the pipe and would not come up) this was causing me to be short of breath, lost of oxygen, feeling dizzy, pressure on my chest like someone was sitting on my chest. Sleeping flat on the bed caused coughing fit so I have to sleep in a incline position. The last few days were pretty ruff. O.K. at this point do I need to go to the ER?

I had been studying NAC for Reducing Respiratory Symptoms in Chronic Lung Disease (like Asthma, Chronic Bronchitis, COPD). It acts directly as a scavenger of free radicals, especially oxygen radicals and is a powerful antioxidant. Some people can't take NAC due to interaction with medications. If you're taking a blood thinning agent, anti-cancer drug, nitroglycerin, or metoclopramide then it is best to talk with your doctor before you begin this supplement as it can interact with these medications.

Being very sceptical that NAC wouldn't do anything for my situation, I ordered the cheapest bottle off amazon. 600mgx60 capsules. They arrived next day and I took my first dosage that nite to see how I would react.

Important: Keep in mind I'm still taking the cayenne pepper 40,000 SU.

Day 1 - The only side effect I had was lite headed and dizzy (not a known side effect). But the odd thing was I wasn't coughing and the pressure in my chest let up alittle. 1x600mg evening dose.

Day 2 – No dizziness and less coughing and less pressure. 1x600mg evening dose.

Day 3 (today) – I have felt amazing today. More energy. Occasional cough and mucus but no pressure all day. 1x600mg evening dose.

Based on my 3 day experiment, NAC is the real deal. Dr. Christopher the herbalist stated cayenne pepper was the “leader sheep”. Cayenne helped to ram other herbs deeper into the cells. I am hoping this explains the dizziness I was experiencing.

Not sure where you saw these for $10 but their website states around $100 or more. Still probably a good deal for the relief it could bring.

Rob..

Investigate mucolytics. There used to be a product on the market called Mucomyst but was taken off the shelf at the beginning of the pandemic. Thje active ingredient in that product was N-Acetylcisteine. What the NAC does is breakdown the disulfide bonds in the bronchial mucus. Once broken down it is easier to expel the goop ( as I refer to it). NAC is one that I also use orally but also use in a nebulizer. Important to use a high-quality NAC. I purchase mine from Bulk Supplements. Anyway, I made a 3% solution using pure saline solution (Brand: Vyaire. Available on Amazon. You also need a pocket-sized digital scale that measure in tenths of a gram. The saline ampules are 5 ml so I mix 15ml of saline with .3 gms of NAC to make a 2% solution. Store in small brown eye dropper and keep in refrigerator. Don't take deep inhalations because it does make you cough. Best to inhale lightly to see how you handle it.... Everyone is different. You may want to look into BromHexine HCL. Wish you good health. Reach out with any questions.

I found this daily dosage chart on https://drbrighten.com/nac-benefits/ for guidance:

* Female fertility 1,200 mg/day

* Male fertility 600 mg/day

* COPD and respiratory support 1200-1800 mg/day

* PCOS 600-1200 mg/day

* Blood sugar support 600 mg/day

* Viral illness 600 mg/day

* Immune function post-menopause 600 mg/day

I react weird to some medicines so I took only 1x600mg at nite to test myself, I have since increased the dosage too 600mg taken am and pm dose. It's working better for me then Mucinex (guaifenesin) which has always cause me headache, dizziness, stomach pain.

Thanks very much for providing that link to the Cayenne Pepper book. I just recently have started using Dr. Schultz's tincture specifically for the heart. It has very noticeable cayenne element in it. A treasure trove of good information by the looks of it.

Don't take any dairy if you are congested. Dairy is HIGHLY mucous forming. Dr. John Christopher and other Naturopathic doctors worth their salt will tell you to avoid it like the plague. It will make you worse off. Also taking chemical isolates will not work as well as taking whole herbs with all their constituents and buffers bound to them - which is how the body recognizes it.

Herbs for heart and the lungs include: Ginko Biloba, Hawthorn, Cayenne, Barley Grass, Panax Ginseng, Garlic, Ginger Root, Bee Pollen, Licorice Root, Wild Cherry Bark. For Lungs, Ginko Biloba, Sea vegetables, Rosemary, Chlorella, Fenugreek Seed, Comfrey, Bee Pollen, Chaparral, Pau d' Arco, Marshmallow. This came from the "Herbs & Anatomy" section of the book, How to Be Your Own Herbal Pharmacist by Dr. Linda Page, N.D. Ph.D (author of the popular book HEALTHY HEALING).

Of course you need good digestion and elimination of both digestive wastes and metabolic wastes (in your urine). Our adrenals are right on top of the kidneys. They orchestrate our endocrine system and kidneys which filter out the metabolic wastes into the urine in the form of tiny white specks right near them also both need to be functioning well as it is the toxins inside your body that can't get out that create the inflammation. So you want to put out the fire with cooling alkalizing water rich raw food and herbs that can help break down and eliminate the congestion in the lymphatic system (separate from the blood) which is supposed to transport out our metabolic wastes down to the kidneys out through the pores of our skin, our third kidney.

I bought one for around $60...[ I actually got a good deal for buying 3 at one time, 2 for friends, but they did not want them and I was able to return them].... the device actually caused greater pain in both of my lungs down around the ribs.I feel it is a little too aggressive for some people as a modality.I have had pleurisy, and thought it was another bout of that. What did end up alleviating almost all of that pain was nebulizing food grade hydrogen peroxide and colloidal silver along with sea salt water.

Oil Pulling

I had a cold last fall that turned into bronchitis. The bronchitis was terrible and lasted for several months. I tried everything - natural and medicinal to get relief and it finally did improve, but not completely. Every time I went outside or did anything that made me breath a little harder would turn into my gasping for air and coughing up phlegm. I ended up having to use an inhaler often and that wasn't always a huge help.

A few weeks ago, I ran across an article online stating that a woman healed her asthma by oil pulling. I had tried oil pulling ages ago, so I was a little familiar with it and figured I had nothing to lose by trying it again. WOW. I felt quite a bit better after the first oil pulling. It only took a few DAYS to completely remove any problems I had with breathing. I have not had a single issue since.

I hope this helps someone else as much as it helped me. It feels so nice to be able to breath clearly again! Oil pulling is amazing.

I didn't know what "Oil-pulling" was, found a pretty good resource, but basically it works indirectly by improving oral health - which does make a difference for many systems, especially including infections and inflammatory diseases caused by (you guessed it) lack of oral health. So, if you don't know where that bronchitis came from... :-)

Editor's Choice

For Colds and Bronchitis:

Take 1 onion (any kind works well, red has a milder taste) cut up with one clove of garlic cut up and cover it in honey and let sit at least 4 hours, but 8 hours is better. I also add lime or lemon juice and cayenne and take two teaspoons every couple of hours until the symptoms subside. It almost eliminates the need for OTC cough medicines and antibiotics.

Had bronchitis and felt like I was on the verge of pneumonia 2 weeks ago.... very, very sick with lots of phlegm in my lungs. Taking OTC meds and nothing was working very well. Was on verge of going to a Dr, but wanted to make a last ditch effort. A friend recommended that I try Oil of Oregano. I bought the capsules. 460mg. took it in the evening and the NEXT MORNING I felt 80% better! Couldn't believe it!! I then took 2 per day for 7 days (1 am and 1 pm) and I am 100% cured. This is truly a miracle supplement! xoxo Chloe

I've had problems with bronchitis for several years. One time it got so bad and I looked for cures in a natural health book. It mentioned oregano would heal it. I went to a health food store and got some oregano pills called oregasyn. It worked very well, almost too well. The phlegm came out very quickly. I found oregamax works more gently. When I can't get them, I tried McCorrmick ground oregano in water and it works pretty well but you have to drink a cup every few hours. In the Philippines, oregano leaves are boiled in water and the leaves are squeezed for the juice and one cup is drunk once a day for three days. That has sometimes been enough for me.

I'm returning to Earth Clinic to share what Oil of Oregano has done for my family in the past 6 months! I also want to give thanks to God :)

I had a cracked tooth start hurting, extremely sensitive to cold. I knew it was infected, and it throbbed almost constantly. I began apply oil of oregano diluted in cold pressed olive oil to the gum two - three times daily. This immediately took down the pain each time I applied it. By the end of the week the pain was completely gone, giving me time to get to a dentist.

My husband caught a cold this winter, and after a week of it came down with bronchitis. He refused to try my Oil of Oregano! Stubborn guy that he can be ;) But after two weeks of coughing he relented one night and I started him off on 2 drops under the tongue three times daily. Within 24 hours he reported "feeling better overall with more energy". Within two weeks his cough was completely gone, then we stopped the regimen.

I began feeling a sore throat coming on. My daughter had one as well. I took one little drop of Oil of Oregano and put it in some water and had her drink it before bedtime. I took mine straight, I like the taste. I held 3 drops under the tongue for a bit, then began swishing it in the mouth and swallowed. After one more time of this, sore throat totally gone.

I have a compromised immune system and I'm extremely grateful and impressed by how well the Oil of Oregano has helped me and my family. It's nice to go to my cabinet instead of the doctor.

I live in the MidWest. My bronchitis and allergies all began when I was exposed to the chemicals of crop-dusting about 20 years ago. Immediately, I felt my lungs crystalize and started wheezing. I went to the Dr. the next day and was dianosed with "chemically induced bronchitis". It was downhill after that...years of battling the bronchitis every fall and spring using antibiotics. Then it got where I began having allergic reactions to many prescriptions and OTC's. My husband happened on to wild oregano a couple of years later and it was sweet relief from the bronchitis and help with my allergies!! A couple of years ago I found the _____ [Mangosteen] juice and started drinking it. I take them all year around because of my allergies. When I start to get a sinus migraine headache, I increase my dose and it doesn't materialize, as long as I catch it in the beginning stages. Hope this is of some help also!

Oil of Oregano and Bronchitis. My chest was stuffed up for a couple of years. Don't like to go to the doctors. I heard about Oil of Oregano. I was taking two drops under my tongue twice a day for about two weeks. Within two days I could not believe the differance. I can breathe freely again without coughing. This was about two months ago. I also stopped smoking after 35 years 3 weeks ago and I cannot tell you the improvement in my health.

Last year I started to get boils about three to four a month. Started to take turmeric (capsul form)it took care of the boils. I've been taking one capsul every day since and not had any outbreaks until I take a break for a few days from all supplements, vitamins and the turmeric. I then feel a boil coming on and resume my regimine and feel fine after a couple of days.

I tried ACV, the spicy tomato tea, the onion halves with brown sugar, and the garlic soup. Especially the tomato tea and ACV brought some temporary relief from a month-long cough and sinus congestion that I'd had almost as long. As far as I'm concerned, though, the #1 choice and remedy should be Oil of Oregano. I bought a jar last Tues. and began taking three per day with meals. I am so encouraged and feel at least 95% well again. After doing some research on it I now know that this is an amazing product! Perhaps it doesn't work the same for everyone but it has done so much for me in six days. I've also been using a good quality colloidal silver in a nasal spray bottle. This has probably worked alongside the Oil of Oregano for the sinus congestion. It cured a month-long cough/bronchitis and sinus congestion. I'm wondering now if I could have increased the dosage of Oil of Oregano to say four a day. I've stayed at 3/day since I couldn't find any info. to let me know if more would be too much of a good thing. Any thoughts on that?

Parsley and spinach tea cured mucus dribbling down throat and mucus cough.This cough with mucus can lead to bronchitis. Point is to keep mucous up in head, throat area. Throw bunch parsley and fresh spinach into a quart pot and simmer like a tea. Strain and drink as often as you wish. Will get rid of mucus if no other complication.
