Charcot Marie Tooth disease and other demyelination disorders are linked to Psychotic disorders

I would greatly appreciate the studies that show how Myelination disorders are linked to "mental illness" or psychotic disorders like schizophrenia and bipolar disorder. If this information was more public maybe more people would be getting better and not looking at those people with harsh stigma. If they knew that it was because the outer coating of their nerves were often worn thin due to Demyelination, whether from a brain lesion or the genetic disorder charcot marie tooth which I have the gene for--so I know for sure.

My mother is psychotic and she also has charcot marie tooth. My dream is that one day we will stop looking at people based biasedly on their behaviors knowing the genetic factors and causes of these biological disorders which are not random chemical imbalances. CMT is just one example of a rare illness that creates the rare psychosis affected by toxic oxidative stress.

I'd like to see radical new science and alternatives posted on earth clinic because if you could cure myelination you could cure and reverse the damage of psychosis, did you know that? This is one of many sites who boldly point to this theory. Thanks!!

Hi Gabby,

Lion's Mane mushroom is proving very effective in rebuilding the myelin sheath in MS. It is non-toxic, and may be beneficial. There are many articles about this on the web. Google Lion's mane mushroom and myelin sheath. Just one article can be found here:

Best wishes.

Hello CHI,

Fear not! Fear can cause acidity, acidity can cause ulcers and a lot of other problems. Instead, get you a small bottle of olive oil and pray over it. Rub your limbs down with the oil each day and speak to your body and said you are healed. Never give in just because it you learned that family or others have a condition.

Wigglesworth tells an almost humorous story. He said he prayed for a woman who had a goiter. A year later at his return revival, the woman came forth and said, a year ago you prayed for me and I was healed. When she gave this testimony, the goiter suddenly dissolved. He found out that all year when someone would mention the goiter, she would say something like, what goiter, it's gone.

So do what you can to get your victory, but brag on the healing not the infirmity and your prayer for healing will work much better. We do Not have to get generational sickness, prayer changes things.

Interestingly, I've been having neuro signs & symptoms of something, for over 35 years, including those listed. But, trying to elicit any commercial docs in big healthcare to even evaluate, has been blocked.

I just learned that 2 half-siblings have been diagnosed with CMT. Each of us has different fathers, so, that might mean it came from our mom—who coincidentally was “a little bipolar” (her words…)
But realising something was going on, I determined to adjust my diet, & use herbs, mushrooms, & more, to help at least slow it down from worsening.
That has been very helpful. Symptoms are still fairly small & not entirely impeding my life, despite having tried to flair up over the past 35+ or so years.
& interesting, that I only started adding a mushroom compound a few weeks ago…that included lion's mane! MAYbe, I should push harder for a firmed-up diagnosis!?
