For emphysema, I use Hydrogen peroxide 3%. I get a thick face cloth up with water squeeze it, I have this tray I put my face cloth on which both my feet can be placed on the Face Cloth. I then pour hydrogen peroxide on the face cloth so it is soaked but not wasting. I placed both my feet on there for 10 minutes or more until my breathing improves. That works for me.

I have emphysema. Some of you might be familiar with a Russian breathing device known as the Frolov Breathing Device. I use one of these. The use of water is used in this device. For those of you familiar with this Russian Breathing Device you know it is used with all pulmonary disorders. I don't use water, well not exactly. The US government rates .05% hydrogen peroxide as "GRAS". (Generally Regarded As Safe) This is the strength I use. I take 3% food grade hydrogen peroxide and cut it by a factor of 60. (e.g. For example, by adding 1 oz of 3% HP to 59 oz of distilled water you will have 60 oz of .05% food grade hydrogen peroxide.)

With the use of h2o2, MORE IS NOT NECESSARILY BETTER!

I have in the past few weeks been taking 2 drops of 35% peroxide in a 6oz glass of water each morning. I suffer from emphysema, it has made a remarkable improvement to my condition; I am disgusted with the FDA for trying to bury this instead of promoting it. I am not sure what but something needs to be done to fight this cover-up.

I am aware of those studies - and I am contemplating whether mixing 2% retin A (tretinoin - something many women keep around for acne) with DMSO in a chest rub might work as a transdermal route to reaching the lungs - rather than inhaling spinach vapors. I have no idea of the safety issues, so I am not recommending this, just putting it out there as a thought and wondering if this has occurred to any other readers.

Alveoli are made of fat tissue and some naturopaths tell patients to only eat coconut oil and butter and no other oils so that the tissue has a chance to heal - or regenerate if that is possible. we do not have conclusive scientific data showing that alveoli can regenerate - but if it is possible, coconut oil would be a necessary component. So good idea to eat it at least in small amounts daily.

I have emphysema. I have had it for 10 years. I am very bad with it but about 5 years ago, I started taking h2o2 35% food grade. I took it in my tea and yes some mornings it made me sick but then I just reduced my intake for a few days then tried again.

I can say that my breathing was brill. My stairs are split by a landing so your talking 8 steps to the landing. I could not climb those stairs with out stopping and puffin and when I got to the top I deffo could not talk but after taking h202 for prob 2 weeks, I could climb to the top and talk and when I got up there I would take again. But I don't seem to be able to buy h2o2 35% food grade and they use it in America and Canada but they don't use it here because it can't be patented. There's no money in it for them as it is a natural substance and is used widely.

DMSO and Hydrogen peroxide (HP) can not be taken at the same time as HP binds with DMSO so you lose the benefit of the extra oxygen molecules.

Carmen, I hope you got help by now as this info is 2 yrs later. Hydrogen peroxide (HP) should be taken internally as well not just nebulized. It is very important to take it on an empty stomach as well as not consume anything for an hour afterwards or it will cause nausea. It will also cause nausea if the dosage is too strong so start with 1 drop of Food Grade HP in 250 ml of water 3x per day. Increase by 1 drop per day. Hope this helps.

To breather in UK. It is thoughtful to be concerned about others, but to discourage one from using a treatment that others have received a lot of benefit from based on the fact that doctors do not prescribe it, is ridiculous. Most doctors are simply not open minded to try any alternative treatments for anything. It is often not in their best interest and certainly not in the interest of Big Pharma. There have been actual case studies from physicians using hydrogen peroxide and other alternative measures in successful treatment of different ailments. The use of borax is one such tx., eventually resulting in it being banned in some countries because it was/is a very inexpensive alternative tx. Please be open minded, and if not, then this really is not the site for you to be on.

Please DON'T use hydrogen peroxide. ask yourself, how can breathing in an irritant - a bleaching agent that destroys cells - help lungs that are already chronically irritated and full of inflammation? Ask yourself, if it worked wouldn't it be used by Doctors? A lot of what people think is working is placebo effect. I have emphysema myself, I am finding the following help: avoid infections such as colds, have your flu and pneumonia jab, keep a healthy weight, eat fresh vegetables, olive oil and enough protein, cut down on fried and junk food, cut down sugar and caffiene, avoid all lung irritants eg: standing over frying food, roasting fumes from the oven, woodsmoke, chemical sprays, perfumes, car fumes, cold air, dry air etc etc. Supplement your diet with Omega 3, vitamins and minerals, learn breathing techniques, avoid getting upset and stressed - learn meditation if possible, and excercise as much as you can, without overdoing it, preferably at Pulmonary rehab via a doctors referral. Above all CONSULT YOUR DOCTOR before trying anything, even things that seem innocuous. Remember there are a lot of vested interests in putting out good reviews online. My GP told me not to buy a salt pipe, even though it had good reviews online, sure enough, I went to the seaside and there was a salty sea-mist...I ended up collapsed on the beach, and my lungs felt raw the whole day. BEST of all research things scientifically - you are looking for proper scientific papers from NIMH for example, the science can be baffling but you can usually make out the meaning from the conclusion, and again CONSULT YOUR DOCTOR.

My stomach will not tolerate hydrogen peroxide, but no problem with inhaling food grade after I dilute it down. Find it works much better than prescribed lung medications. Electric nebulizer is easier to use, but also carry one in pocket for when I run into offensive perfumes, colognes or other odors. A bottle cap full is the amount I use each time and it doesn't make you nervous like the albuterol and other nebulizer meds do. if you have to use it more than every 3 to 4 hours daily.

For Emphysema:

  • SSKI (Super Saturated Potassium Iodide). You can buy SSKI tablets or make your own liquid SSKI. (Just Google: "make sski" and click on Tony on YouTube.) Start with 3 drops SSKI 3 X a day. Gradually work up the dose. Some people take 10 or more drops at a time, but do your own research for that. Take Iodine with or after food.
  • Try a salt push for any headache and some potassium for any heart palpitations. (I never got either.)
  • Take selenomethionine - 1000mcg. Magnesium, Beta Carotene, B vitamins, NAC, Omega 3, and high dose Vitamin C when on iodine protocol. (I make my own liposomal C. Just make sure you use Sunflower Lecithin--not Soy)

Separate doses of C and Iodine by about 2 hours or they'll cancel each other out.

Dear Hussein,

The original poster of this remedy says he used 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper 3 times a day. This would be dried cayenne pepper powder. We get ours from an online herb store or health food store as it will be stronger than that from a grocery store.

We put ours in juice and drink it with a straw. It is very spicy. With any new treatment, it is best to start small and increase slowly. I would start with 1/4 teaspoon in juice once a day. Then try twice a day. If this doesn't bother you, you could increase to hte 1/2 teaspoon in juice or water 3 times a day. The cayenne is very hot, but you will get used to it.

I hope it helps you!

I tried cayenne pepper for my emphysema and on the third night I seemed to be suffering from a severe reaction. Spent the whole night sitting up in bed debating if I should go to the emergency room. Each time I fell asleep I would promptly reawaken, it continuously felt like I was stopping breathing. Googled cayenne pepper and found that this was an allergic reaction. I still have emphysema and have some bad nights but never have I experienced one as bad as that night again. I would recommend anyone thinking of trying it for copd to do thorough research first.

Thanks for the good news report as it will help others in the same condition.

If I may add, The MSM is probably lubricating the lungs in the same way it does painful joints. If this is the case, it may benefit your mom to try a joint formula (widely available) that contains MSM, Glucosamine, and Chondroitin, as these nutrients will also improve lung function.

Also, you may try a very good traditional herbal lung formula with hundreds or several thousand yrs development from China. Search "Chinese lung formula" for more info.

My Mom, who is 67, is an ex-smoker. Although she quit back in 1983, she was diagnosed with emphysema in 2013. She has hardly any trust in the medical establishment (long story, but I can't say as I blame her much! ), and so the only reason she went to the doctor last year was because she got a letter to report for jury duty and had to have a doctor's letter saying she was physically unable to serve. So to a clinic she went. The physician asst. was alarmed when he took her oxygen level and wanted her to go to the ER. Mom was very resistant to the idea but because I was so upset, she agreed to go the next day for my sake. They took a lung x-ray and gave her a breathing treatment and told her she had emphysema. She was given a referral to a lung doctor and also a prescription for an inhaler. truth be told, Mom has never actually needed the inhaler, but has kept it around "just in case". Needless to say, she never did go to a lung doctor. So anyway, for the past 4 years I have watched her breathing get worse and listened sadly as she had long violent coughing spells multiple times everyday. Her face looked like someone had been punching her around because of all the dark spots caused by her severe coughing. Through the years, I have tried her on various natural remedies. Nebulizing hydrogen peroxide made her actually feel worse and she couldn't even do the nasal bottle spray method like Bill Munroe demonstrated either, although she really tried. So it goes that I had come to the point where I had just decided that I was at a point where there was nothing else I could do...until very recently. I read where a lady said she did the dmso by nebulizing it and took msm orally. Well, I knew that Mom wasn't going to try nebulizing anything again, but what did we have to lose by trying the MSM?

Some have said that you should only take it as a powder. Well, my stubborn as a mule Mom would never drink it if it tasted bad (it does) so I found out that you can buy it in capsule form, so I did.

She's been taking just one of the 1000mg capsules two times a day for about three weeks now. We have been nothing but AMAZED! Within a few days her coughing was less severe and her breathing was better. The bruised-looking places on her face started fading. The color has been coming back to her face too!

I just want everyone to know that even if you can't take the powder form of MSM , do not assume that you will not get any benefit from it. I am also not saying that my Mom is cured, but I AM saying (and these are HER words actually! ) that she is doing 85% better than she was before! All because of 2000mg of MSM a day.

Oh. One more thing...they give MSM to racehorses. Horses get emphysema and we all know that horses do not smoke!

Vitamin A

Hi, be careful to balance out Vitamin A with Vitamin D. Also, some people cannot convert beta carotene to Vit A no matter how many carrots they eat.

Vitamin A
Posted by Saul (Fort Bragg, Ca) on 07/05/2013
★★★★★

This is what I am doing to treat my emphysema: I am trying an inside/outside Vitamin A cure. I have significantly changed my diet to include Vitamin A foods. These foods include cantaloupe, dried apricots, steamed spinach, sweet potatoes, dried plums, red bell peppers, salsa, and romaine lettuce. Other Vitamin A foods are liver, the fish oils, cayenne pepper, tomatoes, kale, mangos, papaya, broccoli, and dried herbs. This is the inside part of my treatment.

The outside part is something I started about 5 weeks ago. I take spinach leaves and dry them out over three or four days. (I'm using the heat from my TV to slowly dry them out. I don't trust microwaving or conventional ovens, because I've read that vitamins begin to breakdown at 225 degrees.) I take the dried spinach leaves and crumble them into a dope vaporizer bowl heated to 225-230 degrees and inhale and hold my breath like smoking dope. The first time I tried this I was totally surprised that I didn't taste anything and that there was no irritation or coughing afterwards. I smoke just 2 bowls of spinach a day.

These are the results so far: It took about a week before I started noticing any results after I started vaporizing the spinach. The first result that I really noticed was that I stopped having to take a nap after my token daily walk. I retired in 2012 at age 62 because I couldn't keep up at work. I haven't had to use oxygen but I didn't have any energy. For my heart, my doctor wanted me to exercise (walking was all I could do and I didn't have energy for that after working) for an hour a day. Before starting on my "cure" I walked from 45 to 60 minutes a day about 5 times a week. And always afterward, I'd have to take a nap or fall asleep on the couch for one or two hours. So when I stopped nodding out after my walk, I really noticed it. Then I started noticing other changes. I stopped having cold feet. I woke up in the morning with more energy. During my walks I had more energy. I started striding instead of strolling. Because of the striding I was walking farther, and then I was walking longer. At first, at least for an hour and that became an hour and fifteen minutes. My excitement has just grown and I am now up to two hours daily of hard striding going aprox. 6-7 miles at a time, six days a week.

The logic behind what I'm doing: I had been looking online for emphysema research for treatment and cures. One thing I found was a report of an experiment with mice in 1998 where artificial emphysema was reversed with retinoic acid. Retinoic acid is a metabolized form of Vitamin A. Retinol is used in skin creams to rejuvenate skin cells. UCLA did a study in the early 2000's with humans but they didn't have any positive results. But I did find a note that suggested that if they had increased the dosage of retinoic acid …. Also, in an N.I.H./pub.med web site, I read about a German doctor who had developed an aerosol form a Vitamin A to treat kids in the Congo who were deficient in A. (I even found his US patent application.)

So, as I understand it, emphysema is when the alveoli sacs in the lungs can't hold their shape when the lungs are exhaling. The alveoli sacs are surrounded by tiny capillaries and this is where oxygen is absorbed into the blood. So with the diet I have metabolized Vitamin A inside the blood, and with the vaporized spinach I'm working on the alveoli sacs from the outside.

I don't know if this will work for anyone else, but I am so excited about my own results I felt I had to share this. When I read about other peoples' problems with emphysema I kind of feel like mine hadn't progressed that far. And I had already stopped smoking tobacco and marijuana. So these factors may effect the results

Cautionary notes: It is possible to overdose on Vitamin A. It can cause nausea, liver problems, jaundice, and even hair loss. At one point I added a fish oil supplement while still maintaining the diet and I started getting heavy post nasal drip. When I stopped taking the supplement that went away.

Hydrogen peroxide for COPD, emphysema: Are there any people currently using Hydrogen Peroxide for COPD? I have a sense of mucous, more like a frog in my throat and inflammation, swelling it feels like in my lungs.

There is very little on the internet about H202, yet quite a lot about Turmeric or curcumin which can also be used, however it causes stomach acid for me.

If it is so good, and safe, how come there is not more about it.

To Sirlaughalot: This doesn't sound right to me. If you can, get a second opinion from a different doctor. You may have emphysema, but it doesn't sound like the doctor took any time to discuss why he made his diagnosis, which he really should have done. Next time, go to the doctor with your questions and symptoms written out. This way if you're nervous or there's a lot to discuss you won't forget to ask or describe something important. Don't leave until you've gone over the sheet with the doctor.

Lots of things can cause lung congestion; emphysema and COPD aren't the same thing although remedies can help both since they generally deal with de-clogging lungs (not a technical term :). I would suggest researching emphysema and COPD and even asthma on reputable websites and also through the library or a bookstore. The more you learn the more you'll be able to help yourself.

Bronchodilators often have drugs which can speed up heartbeat as they dilate your lungs for more air to enter. This may well be what's freaking you out. If you're breathing well enough without it, stip taking the Symbicourt until you get a definitive diagnosis.

If you DO have emphysema, ask about your options, and then look into alternative ones as well and see what combo might work for you. It'll be an ongoing process as you reclaim your health.

Hope you get a clearer diagnosis. Emphysema isn't the end of the road (it may not even be the right diagnosis! ), and it sounds like you're interested in exploring new paths anyway. Happy healing! :)

I am only 54 go running regularly and a non smoker, although I did smoke in my teens and have sucked in a bit of second hand smoke over the years. The doctor sent me away with a script for symbicourt and said "suck on that for two weeks then come back and see me" like hello I have a hundred million questions! I guess he didn't have the time! Please excuse my ignorance but what is everybody talking about on here regarding emphysema? Is everybody taking some of the items mentioned to remove phlem or what? The symbicourt seems to make it worse or is that my ANXIETY? Any response very much appreciated as my world has changed!

I take 1 or 2 shot glass a day you can add 1/4 cup ginger, 1/4 cup horseradish if you like. It good for the lungs. I was able to go hunting for 2 day first time in 6 years no oxygen. To Greg from Bristol, Uk: Although you may experience some benefits from using cayenne in the powdered form, it is much more effective if you use the tincture. Start with a drop in some water or tea 3 times per day and increase the dose by a drop or so each day until you are using a half dropper full(depending on the strength of the cayenne in the tincture). As you noted there is a downside to the powdered form with stomach distress and the effectiveness is very low with a very long term use to gain noticeable benefits. Using the tincture should produce measureable improvements in blood circulation within a few weeks. Jay

I use cayenne as well. It does have a back bite. The irritated tissue gives the 'burn' after drinking the powder in warm water. I bought the pills thinking 'by-pass' that. Well, just got the burn lower in the gut. You want the 'help' focused near your lungs, so the warm in water gets very fast absorbtion. I added extra fermented foods, and lowered the amount I was doing til I found a balance point. If it is 'burning' it is trying to kill or heal an area that isn't right. hope this helps.

BETTER BUT WITH SIDE EFFECTS

Cayenne 'tea' - I have COPD and just tried 1/2 a teaspoon of Cayenne powder in warm water and I must say that there was a very prompt and marked improvement in my breathing - but I really dont think I can drink this regularly as it caused an equal impact on my stomach and throat............ Does anyone know if Cayenne extract capsules are also beneficial - also info about the strength to aim for and whether they are gentler on the metabolism ???

Hey, thanks Gavin, haven't been on here for a while, hence the delay in reply. However, I wanted to thank you for the extra suggestion of the garlic = sounds like a great idea. Will try to convince hubby to add it.

Thanks for your feedback on cayenne, and its great to hear that your hubby is improving. If you add a couple of cloves of raw garlic a day into the mix, he will start to cough up the nasty stuff in his lungs.

My husband has suffered from Emphysema for quite awhile now and has slowly been getting a lot worse with his breathing. He has been on several medications, plus inhalers and none of them seem to be helping much. He is a workaholic and was getting extremely frustrated at the fact that he was becoming unable to go to work several days at a time, and completely out of breath walking a very short distance, in fact 3 days ago, was seriously thinking of going into hospital again for some help. , but stayed in bed.

However, in the meantime, I found this website, read about the cayenne and told him about it. I didn't think for a minute that he would try it, but he did. To his and my surprise, he started to improve. His strength has been improving each day and we are both amazed at how much energy he has. In fact he is back off to work tomorrow - just 3 days after starting this remedy.

Taking the cayenne 3 times a day (1/2 teaspoon in warm water) has worked absolute wonders.

Sorry to hear about your father, but there is hope.

In your country grows a plant called: Rooibos. Its Latin name is: Xaspalathus Linearis. People call it Rooibos Tea.

If I where him I would be drinking this tea all day long.

There is also the Great Healer Jesus. Your father has a long time pattern of good health within him. Years of feeling good, breathing good and being happy. That is much more powerful than this illness. When you think of him or see him - See him as you remember him when he was vibrant and well.

You can help. When you call upon God who created your father to heal him and make his lungs new - And thank Him for healing and restoring your fathers health - God will respond.

What we are the most thankful for is what God gives us more abundantly!

Call on Dr. Jesus our creator and healer. After all, He created us and He certanly knows how to fix us!

Go with God and in good health.

Jerome

As we all know this is a work in progress and I feel every day I am progressing bit by bit.

After nebulizing the first time with H2O2 and H2orega I felt a little heaviness in my lungs. The next time I mixed the H2orega with bottled spring water and I felt no heaviness and my breathing seemed to deepen. So, I stopped using H2O2 and only use water.

Here's to progress!!

Hi Ruby!

Jerome here - I too have emphysema and have been reading this forum for about 3 years. I have tried nearly everything people have posted here that worked for them. Most of it did not work for me. I think I had a hard core case. I smoked for 17 years and had pnemonia 4 times in 7 years and ended up with a lot of scar tissue. I quit smoking 2 years ago. I used to smoke a pack every 4 days.

What does work for me is Nebulizing H2O in 3% H2O2 and a really good product called Oralmat. These products I have been using for only 2 weeks and I am really amazed at how much it is helping me. I use my Pro Air half of what I did before I started these 2 products. I am breathing easier and my breathing capacity is increasing. I used to wake up congested with thick mucus and now its been 2 days and no morning mucus!

I have had Emphysema for about 3 years and it was getting worse no matter what I did. I don't smoke and the thick mucus would build up and it would take over an hour in the morning for me to be able to do much. Now, I get the most done in the morning!!

Also, I have found that prayer and affirmations have really helped.

Good luck and I will keep everyone here posted on my progress.

My short term goal is to get off prescription breathing medications!

Ruby, my breathing problems are not as severe as some others, however, I tried to use the hydrogen peroxide inhalation method, but I was forced to quit after just two days, due to increased use of my rescue inhaler.. each case is different.. And it seemed in mine that the phlegm got heavier in my lungs. It is worth a try, and I plan on doing it again when I'm sure no other issues w/my health may be causing an unfavorable outcome. I wish you the best.. God bless. also; Thanks to EC et al for your caring.

.P.S. Tried to warn you re the 'thumbs' thing. Oh well, I love you, & I support whatever you try to do to enhance this site.

MSM

FOR 08/17/2010: Marlane Ellis from Geelong, Victoria - Australia replies or anyone that has any information on this subject! PLEASE I NEED YOUR HELP! I was reading your comment.... "MSM powder has been shown to have a profound effect on Emphysema, Bronchitis, Asthma and other lung complaints. As MSM is sulfur based it is well absorbed by the body. In the case of Emphysema being a chronic condition it is advisable to take large doses to detox first. 6 teaspoons of powder to 3litres (5 pints) of water, drink it throughout the day. The effect should noticeable after 3 days. MSM is classified as a food not a drug so anything that the body does not use will be excreted. MSM must be taken with vitamin C, your body will tell you what level of VitC you need, like MSM it will excrete the excess. In Australia and New Zealand we buy MSM with VitC already added. I don't know about other countries.

I have used this and nebulised with Baking Soda and Magnesium Chloride for COPD and the results have been unbelievable. From not being able to walk as far as the toilet I now walk everywhere."

Please help me I want to recreate this. But I need you help. Does anyone know what amounts you use to nebulise with baking soda and magnesium chloride???

Paul have you had your vitamin d level checked? My husbands was very low and started taking 5000 IU of vitamin D3 a day and his psa number is now normal. Check out all the information about D3 and prostate. My husbands urologist was amazed by this low psa number. This was only 3 months between psa readings. Hope this helps and good luck to you. How long did the cayenne user take his doses before his prostate numbers were down? I am currently a prostate cancer sufferer, and I have been using essiac tea along with baking soda/maple syrup with what appears to be some results (a 2 point drop in my psa over a six month period). Also just started with h2o2 inhaler.
