I am 39 y.o., and also have zero food allergies according to the skin prick test.

I started having daily choking, severe pain, and laryngitis at age 35... which resolved only at age 39 when I went onto an elimination (no alcohol, milk, soy, wheat, egg, nuts, fish, shellfish) diet.

I went from eosinophil count over 100 (eye-popping) to "undetectable" within 2 months. Apparently 5% of EOE sufferers are like me, and don't show allergies on the blood test. If I take 1 sip of alcohol, or 1 bite of sushi & soy sauce, I'm back to severe pain and choking within 12 hours later. Swallowed budesonide really tames the EOE down again... nothing else including fluticasone seems to even touch it.

Hope this helps.
