I have had terrible breast cysts. One time I had 16 cysts asperated at once. Recently I had a cup of fluid asperated from one cyst alone. I've had 2 cysts become infected and had to go on antibiotics. I've had surgery twice. I feel like a freak, but I've since discovered how to get rid of them and I wish I had known this years ago.
This is how
- Get a hot water bottle and fill it with hot water.
- Now get a bag of frozen peas.
Put the hot water bottle against the cyst ( my bottle has a soft knitted cover on it) for about 4 or 5 minutes. Now take it off and put the bag of frozen peas against the cyst for about 4 or 5 minutes. Alternate 4 or 5 times ending with the hot water bottle. You will notice a difference the first time you try this. Do it the next day and you probably won't have to do it again after that. It tales the pain away quickly. It's really a miracle.

It's been a month and a half that I have been taking Lugols Iodine for Fibrocystic Cysts. I take 4 drops in orange juice every morning prior to having any meals. For the first month, the pain was still there, however, was not as bad. Then went to the pharmacy and purchased OptiMSM (Biogen) which is a herbal anti inflammatory. Have been taking this for a few days and found that this eases the pain a lot. I was able to sleep well at night. Currently, I have no pain. Breasts are soft and no heaviness. Have stopped with the OptiMSM but will still continue taking Lugols Iodine.

Thank God, I found this site. I have been suffering from cyclic breast pain from the time I stopped breast feeding. My son is now 21 yrs old. I am 46.
This pain makes you go crazy. Have been to my gynae on numerous occasions. Put me on evening primrose, which never helped. Been for MRI and ultra sounds. The lumps are still there and very painful. Then put me on Danogen tablets, which made me gain an enormous amount of mass. which is really difficult to get rid off, despite my regular walks and exercise. I eat healthy (vegetarian) have decaf coffee, no fizzy drinks, no tea. I really do understand what all you women are going through. When I stumbled on this site and everyone is talking about Lugols Iodine, I was so excited. Here is something that most of you are taking and is helping. Am going to start taking this as from today. Will keep you posted on results.

Hi Sarra from Australia - Quite a few years ago (well, about 20 actually), I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism and fibrocystic breast disease and saw Dr. David Derry in Victoria, BC.
At that time, he gave me a prescription for natural thyroid and told me that many women with fibrocystic breast disease are also hypothyroid. For the fibrocystic breasts, he told me to use Lugol's 5% iodine and paint a quarter-sized circle on my breasts where the lumps were every day. It took six months or more until, very, very gradually, the lumps disappeared. Bear in mind that was about 20 years ago and he didn't suggest ingesting it - probably because he was a regular MD who was restricted by conventional medical authorities.
Since then, Dr. Derry wrote a book about iodine and breast cancer and, I believe, he says iodine (1 to 2 drops of 5% Lugol's) should be ingested.
Here is a summary called "Connecting Fibrocystic Breast Disease, Breast Cancer, Thyroid Function and Iodine" by Elora Gabriel. Both Dr. Jonathan Wright (Tacoma, Washington) and Dr. David Derry are quoted. You might find it useful.
https://www.greenwillowtree.com/Page.bok?file=iodine.breastcancer.thyroid_art.html
Although I don't have any problems with fibrocystic lumps now, as a precaution, I started taking 2 drops of 5% Lugol's every day in a glass of juice. I don't apply it to my skin any more because I heard it wasn't as effective as ingesting it (and it stains anything it touches! ). I've had no bad reactions to ingesting Lugol's but everyone is different.
I wish you the best of luck. I'm sure other contributors will have advice for you. Take care, Bess

Lemons are wonder food! I use whole organic lemons to stop painful breast lumps. After washing the lemon WITH SOAP! I cut it up and put everything, skin, pulp, fiber and juice in the blender with a little water. I store the extra in a glass container and take 1-2 teaspoons in water every morning. No sugar. I love to chew the pulp but have to be careful to rinse with water and then use baking soda rinse to protect teeth from acid.

I had a lump in my breast the size of a large grape. In this case I didn't get it checked so I don't know what kind it was. I took 2000mg of l-lysine a day in 2 divided doses (1000mg in the morning, 1000mg in evening) and the enzyme serrapeptase enteric coated tablets that were 5mg each. I took 3 tablets of the serrapeptase on an empty stomach in the morning, and again another 3 in the afternoon on an empty stomach. It took about 3-4 months, but the lump is gone!!!

I have fibrocystic breasts and they get very painful the closer I get to my period. Staying away from caffeine helps, but I have remarkable results using the following: magnesium, vitamin e and vitamin d3 every day. I take the magnesium at night (see my post about magnesium for insomnia) and 1 vitamin d3 (5000 iu) capsule and 1 vitamin e (400iu) capsule at lunch. I am not sure which of the 3 supplements is doing the trick, or if it is the combination of the 3, but I highly recommend trying them all if you have fibrocystic breasts.

In 2011 I went to my primary care doctor for burning in my breast anytime something touched or brushed the lower right side. She sent to the Cleveland Clinic Breast center. After a mammogram and ultrasound, they determined there were cysts that were benign. She said my breasts were dense and didn't have enough fat. She prescribed 1300 mg Evening Primrose Oil for 3 months and if that helped to taper back to twice a day and then once per day. I'm back up to twice a day because that helps with PMS swelling pain too. She did say to take selenium to help with constipation (side effect of the oil) and iodine.

Apple cider vinegar worked for me within 24 hours. Usually I have 2 weeks of breast pain, however a few days after the monthly pain started out of desperation I took 2 Tb of ACV in the morning. The next day the pain was 90% gone so I continue to take the ACV daily. Be sure to take the Organic Apple Cider Vinegar (unfiltered) because it has more of the curing stuff in it and I found that other brands repeat on me. No one wants to be burping apple cider vinegar all day.

Vitamin E, Eliminate Caffeine

I never had normal breasts even in my teens. They were always fibrocystic. It wasn't until after I had early cancer treatment (lumpectomy and radiation) and then sought natural medicine did I learn about cleansing. I learned about liver cleansing and how there are 3 types of estrogen. One is metobolized thru the liver and excreted thru the urine. After years of your liver filtering "junk" in Rx, food additives, preservatives, food dyes, anesthesias, airborn environmental toxins that go into our lungs and from there enter out blood stream etc. It gets clogged. Like a car filter if you want to think of it that way. When you change the oil in your car you change the filter too right? Think of your liver as a filter too. My estrogen levels were way off the charts. I was so estrogen dominent. The endocrinologist couldn't tell me why. But I put my faith in God and He helped me find info online about the 3 types of estrogen and the role the liver plays in them. So if you think about it this is what happened and WHY I WAS estrogen dominant. I say WAS!!! As your body makes estrogen and does not excrete it as it should - it recirculates thru your body and blood stream along with what is already there that also hasn't been eliminated. Makes simple sense! Once I cleansed my liver with in 1 month my breasts were absolutely normal for the 1st time in my life. I had no idea that would happen. I cleansed to lower my estrogen levels and then it cured the fibrocystic tissue in my breasts. When I went back to the encocrinologist she couldn't believe my estrogen levels were normal. She asked me what I did and didn't know what to say when I told her. She was happy but as a mainstream medical practitioner she looked so trapped in what she could only do to help her patients as approved by the hospital who pays her pay check. That's not medicine. Managing diseases is not medicine.
Anyway you are probably wondering how do you cleanse your liver? It is simple. Drink Apple Cider (not apple cider vinegar) for a week and eat very lightly. No meat, cheese, sugary sweets, fried foods - more salads and soft foods. The pectin in the apple cider has an affect on softening deposits in the liver and gall bladder. Do this for 6 days. (Start on a Sunday). On the 6th day b/f you go to sleep mix 1/2 cup of organic unrefined olive oil (OO) with either 1/2 cup of fresh squeezed organic lemon juice or organic grapefruit juice (I perfer grapefruit juice). Use a hand mixer to totally mix both juices. Take a straw and drink it down and immediately go and lay down for the night on your right side. Do not wash the dishes or do anything else after you drink it except go right to sleep. Lay in this position for as long as you can. When you awake in the morning you will feel an urge to go to the restroom. When you do you will expel debris from both your liver and gall bladder.
I could not believe the energy that I felt after I cleansed my liver for the first time. I also no longer had seasonal bronchitis after this. I became a firm believer in natural cleansing. If you have this condition you may want to try this. I wish you all the best!!!

Update on above... I have started using Lugol's solution and it is helping me even more. The kelp helped with the pain very quickly, but the cysts were still there. The kelp helped some of the cyst go away, then I read that SSKI potassium iodide is better for the breast tissue. I am still looking for information on what happens with too much iodine. Have not found it. So I used 4 drops twice a week for quite a while then got scared. I stopped for a few months and recently started again off and on. I am down to just one somewhat large fibrocystic mass in one of my breasts. This is opposed to almost the whole of both breasts being totally fibrocystic. I am confident that with time the last cyst will be resolved.

I've had breastpain for a long time, and this last year it's been really severe, and not just before my period, seemingly at other random times. I read that flaxseed was supposed to be good for this, so I started taking it as recommended; one tablespoon of ground flaxseed in the morning and one at night. (It's also a remedy which is not at all offensive to take. It tastes good to me).
And, unless it's a fluke, I seem to be cured! Sometimes I forget to take it and I get the start of some pain, but when I start taking it regularly again it disappears once more. Amazing!

Some more ideas on inversions:
1. You might try experimenting with Yoga - a centures-old practice for health/mental composure. Many poses taught can support lymph health. Like 'downward dog' or shoulder/head stands. Best to take a class with formal instruction if you're new to it.
2. Create your own inversion 'belt' and suspend from ceiling (this is what I use). They sell 'yoga inversion belts for like $100 but I created my own version for less than $20 - see below
Buy a "cargo tie-down or ratchet tie down" belt at HomeDepot/Lowes (they run under $20 usually). These come supplied with two large end hooks and a ratchet to adjust the length. Suspend it from two large ceiling hooks (make sure they're suspended in a large enough ceiling support beam). Hang over it from the hips, head toward the ground. Search for images under 'yoga inversion belts' on the net and you'll get the idea.

I'm going to try sunflower oil. Dr. Oz talked about safflower oil, which reminded me how sunflower oil is one of the few oils considered good for kapha, in ayurveda. Fibrocystic disease of the tissue is considered to be a kapha imbalance (excess water & mucous in the tissues). Susan from Saratoga Springs, thank you (I'm a Skidmore graduate:)
Avoid Xenoestrogens
Posted by Sullykip (Brooklyn, Ny) on 01/02/2012
Hi Sandra, You say that taking iodine made the lumps go away for 6 months, so we know that it was helpful at least.
Is your water fluoridated? And/or does it contain chlorine? Because those each deplete iodine from the body, so a good first step in replenishing iodine in your body is to eliminate the "thieves" that take it away. A good 5-stage reverse osmosis filter will elminate 99% of the chlorine and 95% of the fluoride from your water. Otherwise you might look into other options--but look for a filter that is certified to remove what it says it does.
Also, in order for your body to utilize iodine, you must have certain other nutrients on board. These include:
--selenium.
--zinc
--vitamin E
--B vitamins
--magnesium.
--Tyrosine (the key amino acid for thyroid health).
I might suggest a basic "Thyroid Helper" type product that contains the nutrients needed for thyroid health, to accompany the iodine you are taking. It is dangerous to take iodine without taking the co-factors needed for thyroid health.
Alternatively, perhaps a high quality multivitamin in a vegetarian capsule.
Try applying the Lugol's directly to your breast at night--will absorb transdermally and hit the target area quicker. If it stings, then mix it with an oil that you know doesn't bother you, such as jojoba oil, almond oil, coconut oil, or etc.
Also might consider a hormonal balance herb that is appropriate for your constitution. As a health coach, I generally find that my clients benefit most from herbs according to their blood type.
Type A: Black Cohosh. 550 mg whole root, 1-3 capsules per day.
Type B: Vitex (also called Chasteberry). 500 mg, 2 capsules per day.
Type AB: Dong Quai. 2 capsules per day.
Type O: Kelp, 3-6 capsules per day. Or squaw vine. Or gelatinized maca, 3-6 capsules days 1-15 of cycle.
Sometimes excess hormones signal that the body is not able to bind and utilize the hormones it is producing. If you get your Total estrogen, total testosterone, progesterone, DHEA and cortisol levels tested, they may actually be quite low. Your levels of "free" testosterone and estrogens, however, may be high. This would be because your thyroid and adrenals are tired, and not able to bind and use those hormones. So you might benefit from glandular adrenal and/or thyroid support. Or if glandular is too strong for you, you could try homeopathic adrenal and thyroid support.

I am a 53 yr. old woman in the middle of menopause I developed large cysts the size of a silver dollar in my breast. It scared me because I have never had them before. My Dr. Wanted me to have mammogram, ultrasound and gave me the name of a breast specialist to take a biopsy. He thought they may be fibrocysts. I decided to first try the natural healing route. In July I started taking Lugols iodine/iodide slowly increasing my doseage till I was taking the recommended 50 mg at the beginning of Sept. By the middle of November my cysts were gone. I had been taking the recommended dose of 50 mgs for 2 1/2 months. I went on line to learn about the characteristics of fibrocystic breasts and I had many of the symtoms which are different than breast cancer. This was scary for me because my Mother had breast cancer at 45 and died at 50, for some reason I just thought I had to try the iodine before I let them do an inovasive biopsy. I am so thankful I did. I have also learned that vitamin D3 is very good for healthy breast tissue and have been taking a recommended dose of 8, 000 IU for the last 2 months. I hope this helps others who are suffering from fibrocystic breast. Do the research yourself before undergoing treatment. You will be amazed what you learn about iodine.

Following all the feedback I have read on Earth Clinic in the past few weeks, I have finally figured out a remedy combination to help my extremely painful fibrocystic breasts (so bad lately that sleeping face down causes tremendous pain):
* Lugol's Iodine: 1 drop in water/day
*1,000 mg Vitamin C Sodium Ascorbate (which is 1 teaspoon Ascorbic Acid type of vitamin C to 1/2 teaspoon baking soda dissolved in a glass of water. I take it on an empty stomach, but not first thing in the morning, which can cause diarrhea.
*1 capsule of Vitamin E/day
The pain reduced by 50% after 24 hours and by 90% the 2nd day of these remedies. I have now cut back my Lugol's iodine dose to 1 drop every 2-3 days. I think it was the addition of the Lugol's that made an immediate difference.

I saw your tips on iodine for fibrocystic breast disease about six months ago. I got kelp tablets from a major grocery retailer that specializes in healthy foods. The tablets contain 225 mcg of iodine per tablet. I took one tablet per day for three days before seeing some improvement. I was shocked that it worked and worked so fast. I have been in pain for so many years like many of your readers. I have continued this regimen of one tablet per day for the last six months. Occasionally I skip a day as I have read too much can harm. I have not been totally cured, but I have noticed an acceleration of benefits recently from beginning to do the water cure, (1/2 your weight in ounces of water per day along with unadulterated sea salt). Unbeknownst to me kelp has many of the beneficial minerals for optimum hydration. This week I had a major healing crisis, or at least I think so as I feel the toxins are flowing freely now and it is exhausting!
If at all possible, I would appreciate any listing you may have that are indications you have taken too much iodine. I have looked for such a list and have been unsuccessful. I am hoping the healing crisis is just that and not excess iodine.
I also want to share with readers that I had a particularly painful spot under my arm. My massage therapist specializes in lymph drainage massage and was able to get that spot moving. I no longer have pain in that area. She suggested massaging around the outside of the breast and up and over through the middle every night after removing the bra. If the lymph is flowing those painful spots may be minimized in the future. I have also started wearing sports bras without underwires whenever I can. The spot under my arm seemed to coincide with where the underwire hit my armpit. I think this has helped some.
Thank you to everyone who is posting their remedies here at the clinic and the proprietors as well. This site is just what I needed. I never imagined that there was something to take away my breast pain.
I happened on this site while looking for a natural remedy for heartburn which I was having after a bad week of sinusitus and taking too much ibuprofen. I first tried the cure for fibrocystic breast disease above. Well I am off of drugs for sinus problems and my emerging asthma was cured in two days by the water cure. I have had 3 to 6 sinus infections a year for the last 20 years. Antibiotics of the strongest type were not working and gave me an allergic reaction in December. I was convinced to never have a sinus infection again. I think I am now cured of my sinusitus. It is remarkable. I am doing the water cure iodine multi-vitimin 2 times a day sinus irrigation with salt/bicarbonate packets and stopped drinking cows milk in my coffee/cereal and cut down on coffee. I have not cut out all dairy, just cow milk. That is it. I have stopped taking zyrtec every day and have not suffered even though it has been one of the worst pollen seasons in memory.
To me these are two miracles as direct result of earthclinic.com and their readers and commentors. Alleviating human suffering is a wonderful calling and I am so happy to share my success in the hopes it will help someone else.

Fibroids are a result of too much estrogen being in the body and not enough progesterone, hormonal imbalance. You can use over the counter progesterone cream, half the recommended dosage, without parabins USP grade. However, you should only use that for a short period of time because too much can cause a further imbalance. Dr. Brownstein talks about how iodine cures fibroids as well, and you can simply get the iodine at the pharmacy and paint a quarter size on your skin in the morning. You may want to watch it during the day just to see how fast it disappears. When I used the iodine, which is cheap, I instantly felt my fibroids shrinking more even though I wasn't having any problems since I had used the progesterone cream a few years prior.

I have painful fibrocystic breasts, especially as my period approaches. I have tried vitamin e, evening primrose oil, but they haven't helped with the soreness and pain. Last week I saw someone's post on this site using an inversion board for breast health and lymphatic drainage. Getting an inversion board is out of the question because I live in a tiny apartment. What I did instead was lay with my back on the bed and stretch off the side of the bed with my hands above my head dangling towards to the floor. I tried to get the steepest stretch possible. It's not very comfortable position but my back felt sooo good after. I stayed in this position for 5 minutes on Monday and 10 minutes Tuesday and Wednesday. I can't believe it but today (Thursday) I woke up with no pain in my breasts! Wow wow wow!!
I hope other women will try this and send their feedback.
