Lugol's Iodine

When I was 69, I was using a small amount of topical hormones and knew that I had Uterine Fibroids and a thick Endometrium for about 12 years. Finally the doctor said it was dangerous to go on like this and I would need to go OFF all Hormones and have a 2nd Uterine Ultrasound, after 6 weeks had passed. The doctor thought the hormones were part of the problem. A Hysterectomy was in my future. I said I would stop using them but I didn't.

I had recently started taking Lugol's Solution (5%) Iodine and was at about 50 mg. minimum at that time. I increased it slowly to 100 mg. during that 6 weeks.

When I went back to my doctor for the results, she said "so you stopped the hormones?" I replied that I did, just so not to get in trouble. My Uterine thickness had now gone back to normal and the Fibroids had all shrunk in that 6 weeks time.

Dr. David Brownstein's book said Lugol's was used for any Fibroids and it turned out to be true.

Since 2008 I was suffering with heavy periods and in 2009 I went to accident and emrgency with flodding. I thought I was having a miscarriage but they said I had an infection and gave me antibiotics and was told to go and see my GP. I went to see him a a month later when my period started as it was heavier than when I went to the hospital. Well anyway he told me that at my age, 41, it was very normal to have heavy periods and did not listen to me that something was not right. Flash forward November 2013, I went to see a lady GP at the same surgery and she told me to go straight away and get a blood test done and gave me tranexamic tablets and made a referral to get a scan done.

At this point I was suffering with dizzyness, palpitations, a fuzzy head, whooshing in my ears sounding like a heartbeat, feeling faint, hot br eathless walking up stairs and long distances, diffuculty concentrating, hard to focus, fellings like my nose wanted to bleed, pain in hip and shoulder when layng down, feeling extremely cold, feeling extremely hot after walking up a flight of stairs, swollen ankles, heavy periods with flooding and enormous clots, cracks occasionally at the corners of my mouth, gurgling noises in my stomach even when I was not hungry, something feeling hard in my stomach, fatty deposits under my yes, occasionally extremely scaly skin on hands, and swollen ankles and I looked pregnant.

The following day after the blood test, Saturday morning, I received a call from the hospital telling me to go to accident and emergency straight away. My hb was 6.9 and they hooked me up straight away to give me a blood transfusion. I was given iron tablets and told if I felt dizzy or had any symptoms as before I had to go back. Now, early Monday morning my lady GP phoned me and told me to go and see her. She explained that I was severly anaemic and she prescribed me ferrous fumurate 210mg.

When I had the scan the lady doing it had to call in her colleague for a second opinion. She informed me I had 3 fibroids and that 1 of them was 12cm long. I went back to see my GP and she reiterated that I had fibroids and what looked like an ovarian cyst. She scheduled for me to see a gynacologist. At the appointment with her she informed me I would need a mymeoctomy ( sorry for the spelling) and that it was not guaranteed that I would not end up having a hysteractomy. Oh and she was going to remove an ovary. I left thee feeling numb and cried for a few days.

I decided I was going to take my health into my own hands and did many weeks of research. To cut a long story short I was addicted to sweets and I gave them up and anything that had an estrogenic effect on my body. So that meant organic meat and chicken but no pork, organic vegetables and fruits, no soda, herbal and green teas minus the 4 teaspoons of sugar I would add lol.I cut out fast food and eating out at restaurants and was now cooking at home. I also cut out anything white eg white bread, flour etc and had whole foods instead.

In the morning I would take Dim with cod liver oil, followed by a green smoothie with fruit with a tablespoon of apple cider vinegar added and I would also take vitex. I would have the same for lunch but have different leafy greens and fruit in my smoothy for lunch. At dinner time I would have a home cooked meal and in the evening I may have a slice of spelt bread with oganic or wholefood peanut butter. I also included into the raw food diet into my regime and this hepled enormously with being able to eat cakes and biscuits made out of medjool dates and nuts and seeds. Believe me they do not taste as bad it sounds. They are scrumptious.

Now it is January and I have had my first period. I hardly noticed it unless I wiped. My stomach has shrank dramatically and the hardness in my stomach has gone. I must also add that I have a epsom salts bath 3-4 times a week followed by castor oil packs that I leave on overnight followed by a special massage when I take the castor oil pack off in the morning. I no longer look pregnant, have more energy than I can deal with lol, I look younger and so much more refreshed.

I say all this to say do your research, don't just listen to your doctors when they try to push surgery onto you and the mad thing is that after all of this surgery the fibroids have a good chance of coming back. Take control of your own lives and think positive.

Much love to the many womenon your fibroid and cyst journey.

Ps I have tried to condense my story but there is so much I would like to say to help other women. So sorry of you felt you were reading an essay (hugs to you all)

Hi ladies, I just wanted to update you on my progress since my last posting. I have been taking apple cider vinegar with baking soda and blackstrap molasses for three months now and I have had wonderful results. My abdomen has decreased by three inches and my menses have really been under control; less heavy bleeding. In fact by the third day I have to check to make sure its still on. Hang in there this really works.

Lugol's Iodine

I suffered with fibroids for many years. The turning point came when I used lugols iodine as an enema. I had used it years before as drops in water but it didn't do much. Now use 1/2 teaspoon in about 2 cups spring water in an enema bag I get from the drugstore. I leave it in my body for 5-15 min. I feel great now. No more fatigue or mental fog. I speak more intelligently. I am no longer sensitive to heat at night. Have lots of energy. Have stopped the iron pills. I also take 1 tablespoon blackstrap molasses with some peanut butter. That's better than the molasses alone. A holistic nurse on this site wrote that they do that in her hospital for patients that refuse transfusions. It works great. You do the molasses and peanut butter 1-3 times per day depending on how serious the anemia is. But the iodine enema is what really changed my life. The directions are in the following article from marksdailyapple.com:

ENEMA - Use a Fleet enema bottle. Empty out contents, wash out with hot water. Wipe off lubricated tip thoroughly with a dry paper towel and wash with hot water. Do not use any detergent! Fill up bottle with room temp water poured through a coffee filter. Preferable to boil water in glass container and let cool. Add up to 1/2 teaspoon of Lugol's. After a few enemas, it can be increased to one teaspoon. Avoid spilling, it stains. To lubricate tip, use only olive oil, butter, vitamin E gel. Do not use any commercial chemical lubricants. Do tuhe enema. Hold it in for 5 to 15 minutes or as long as you can. Initially, you may only be able to hold it in for a few minutes. It is preferable to lie down. Expect loads of mucus, gel, trash, undigested food and several movements within hours as mucus keeps coming out. If you're mucus loaded up, repeat enema daily for 2, 3 or 4 days. Then, once a week for 4 weeks until mucus/trash free. Maintenance, one enema a month.

I tried the ACV for a few days but had no success. After going to the doctor, he revealed that I did indeed have a fibroid, but because I had bled out over 60% of my normal blood supply and I was severely anemic. I had emergency surgery last Wednesday (complete hysterectomy). My prayers and well-wishes go out to the rest of you ladies dealing with this issue...

I don't even know if I have fibroid tumors - I just know that I've been passing huge clots for the past few days. I'm 43, and had tubal sterilization surgery in 1998 after the birth of my 2nd child. This happened to me before about 8 years ago, but without the clots. I went to the emergency room, and was told I had a hormonal imbalance. I don't want to deal with this for weeks, so I'm trying the ACV treatment right now. I'll let you know how it works...

I just had to reply to inform other women about the effects of the use of ACV and BSM. I have been using the two for the past 3 weeks and I have to report that I feel as though the ACV is shrinking my fibroids since I am not able to feel them as I had before starting to use the ACV. It was so bad that it felt like the fibroid was pushing out the top of my stomach. Since starting the ACV I can not feel that pushing sensation any longer. In addition my period this month was so nice; I did not have the heavy bleeding like in previous months. My first two days of menstruation would be extremely heavy to the point it felt like a run away train that I could not get a handle on. But after using the BSM I had one of the best periods I've ever had in a long time. As I stated it has only been 3 weeks, but with the results that I've had I will continue to use ACV and BSM to see what the end will be and just because I feel better. For those who doubt I say what will it hurt to try this. We all want a more natural approach to our health so doubt no more and begin your road to naturally treating and possibly curing those awful fibroids. I hope this has been helpful and God Bless you ladies.

Apple Cider Vinegar, Dietary Changes
Posted by Tigergold (London) on 11/29/2013

Diagnosed in Jan 2013 with 1 polycystic ovary and 3 fibroids (tennis ball, golf ball and pea sized). I'm 34 yrs old, no kids (and no plans for any), slim build so belly very visible. Doc gave me birth control but not taking it.

My main symptom was very heavy periods with huge clots, flooding, gushing the works that lasted 3 to 5 days, starting day 1 and 2 heavy then getting lighter.

In Mid October started on:

* New diet - cut out caffeine, wheat, dairy, eggs, meat and poultry. Been having lots of cabbage, broccoli, green veg, almond milk, beans and lentils and fruit, nuts, seeds and flaxseed, turmeric, small vitamin D supp.

* In the morning - 1-2 tsp ACV and water on an empty stomach.

Changes I have noticed:

*was started to get constant back pain when lying down - this has eased

* stomach still protruding - but hoping its early days

*cycles are regular, always have been but this month has been odd - day 1 was lighter than normal and on day 2 was able to actually leave the house (not done that in yrs), continued very light bleeding but now on day 6 very light bleeding/brown discharge still and passed a big clot, has anyone else had similar experience?

Ofelia: A few vegetables have dim. This is harmfull when taken as an isolate. I take 3g/day cold processed maca for dim. The dose for regular maca is 12 g. Fibroids are caused by injury, disease, and estrogen dominance. This is caused by aromatization. This changes good hormones into bad hormones. Hops alcohol extract taken sublingually is the most potent armoatization inhibitor. Take 15g/day raw sweet potato. Chew thoroughly and let dissolve through the gums. This makes progesterone. Capers are highest in quercitin, another aromatization inhibitor. Sweet potatoes make good hormones, aromatization inhibitors prevent them from becoming bad, and maca regulates them. The 3 taken together are a very effective remedy that cures very rapidly. Google raw food videos for nutritional support.

Dear Dana,

Sorry to hear about the fibroid! You may not have to get it removed at all. Many people have found natural solutions to get fibroids to disappear.

You can read people's stories here:

https://www.earthclinic.com/cures/fibroids.html#intro

Blackstrap Molasses has helped many people and Charcoal Poultices have also been known to cure fibroids. There are lots of other stories. I think you will be encouraged.

I suppose it is possible that you would be pregnant. Sonograms have certainly been wrong before. But if it were 7cm size baby, it would already have a heartbeat that they should have been able to detect. Again, anything is possible, but it is probably a fibroid.

Please keep us posted!

Hi Amanda,

I would first advise to avoid sugar whenever possible. Then I would advise to eat alkalizing foods. I have been reading posts on Earth Clinic for a few years now and have seen great reports on women using apple cider vinegar, blackstrap molasses, and even hormone balancing herbs like red raspberry leaf. A friend of mine who is a personal trainer here in Los Angeles believes that exercise which focuses on building core root energy is very important for women who have issues in the pelvic cavity, ie fibroids, ovarian cysts, bladder issues. She sends her lady clients to kundalini yoga, african dance and/or bellydance classes!

I just wanted to chime in on what "no more pain" stated and agree on taking DIM... It helps balance estrogens. I take it daily. I also do iodine painting, and take selenium as well. Good stuff.

Hi. I too had non-stop EXCESSIVE bleeding from ovarian cysts for 1.5yrs - I started taking iodine tablets and DIM and then the bleeding stopped 2 months after taking iodine and 3 wks after taking DIM. I have been taking iodine 50mg+ per day for 1 yr and it has helped with my oc. It is important for people with fibroids as well. You should also take selenium 200mg YEAST FREE tablets, NOW Female Balance and continue with acv.

A green diet and apple juice (organic apples juiced fresh at home) is crucial for eliminating fibroids. No dairy, soy, corn, peanuts, meat, eggs, sugar or processed, junk or fried food.

Start DIM asap. This all should help. Good luck!

I also had success fixing excessive monthly bleeding with the vinegar tea remedy and an alkalizing diet. At the same time, the little urine leakage that had crept up when I coughed or laughed went away. It lead me to believe both issues were caused by pressure from fibroids. Anyway, it is one of those nasties that life can throw at women. I learned the cure right here and I'm thankful this forum was available when I suffered through it.

Dear Tameka, So sorry about this bleeding! I saw Carly gave you some good advice about how to take the Apple Cider Vinegar. Please also take the Blackstrap Molasses- 1 T. morning and evening. Right off the spoon or in a cup of milk. You can take it any time of day also when the bleeding is heavy. It helps me with bleeding. It also will help replenish your blood. You should take at least 1 T. of blackstrap every day indefinitely. It will keep your blood up, nourish you, and may help the fibroids.

Also, to try and check the bleeding, take 1 t. cayenne pepper in an 8 oz. glass of grape juice. (The grape juice is just to help you get it down. You can take it in water. ) Cayenne is amazing for stopping bleeding. Midwives use it to stop hemmorrhage in childbirth.

Charcoal poultices and activated charcoal internally may be of help to you in the long term, if you want to try that. I will link you to a story of someone who used charcoal for her fibroids. The story is under "Charcoal Babies" a little more than 1/2 way down the page.

Hi Tameka, I would take one ounce (approx. a shot glass full) of ACV with 1/2 teaspoon of baking soda... When it stops fizzing, add about 12 to 16 ounces of water. I drink this first thing in the morning on an empty stomach, then make another one and sip throughout the day when I am bleeding too heavily. It really, really helps! When a couple of hours goes by without sipping it.... I can tell by how heavy my flow gets. During really bad periods, I also take a glass to bed, and sip it in the night. Use a straw to keep it off your teeth if needed. When I am bleeding that heavy I don't care if I have a straw or not though!

Blackstrap molasses is also very good for this, but does not have as immediate of an effect for me personally. I take a tablespoon of it daily in my coffe. Love the taste.

Good luck to you, I know how miserable it is.... Take care.

Posted by Anon (USA) on 07/02/2013

Hi, sorry to hear of your fibroids and all the associated health challenges. Blackstrap molasses will help you straight away- we are all different so the general dose is average you have to see how it works for you and the stage of your condition- if I am bleeding heavily I would take 1 tablespoon of Blackstrap Molasses washed down with a glass of water at least 3 times a day- the odd glass of water with 1 teaspoon of Apple Cider Vinegar helps to stop bleeding too.

I suspect that we have these continual reoccurances because we do not change our nutrition. Once your diet becomes more alkaline this will help too- eat more veg and green salads.

If you read the fibroid section you will see that iodine is a great supplement to take to reduce cysts and fibroids aswell.

I think vitamins A and D from Cod liver oil helps too.

Organic unsulphered Blackstrap Molasses is great because the vitamins and minerals are in a natural state and easily absorbable.

Once your bleeding is under control and you are less anemic you can take a maintenance dose every day- I take 1 teaspoon, you'll have to experiment to see if that works for you. Good luck.

Dear Blonde Q T, So sorry about your suffering and bleeding! If your iron is really low, I would start with 1 T. of Blackstrap morning and evening. You can put it in milk if you like. I just take mine off the spoon. :)

Liquid Chlorophyll is excellent also to get your iron up. It is also helpful for the bleeding. In times past, with heavy cycles, taking a tsp. of the chlorophyll a few times a day really helped me.

Cayenne pepper (not delicious, but so helpful) can help check the bleeding. Try 1/2 t. in 8 oz of grape juice when you are bleeding heavy. It is spicy, but it won't last long. I did this to help heavy bleeding during a miscarriage and it helped a lot.

Regarding the bladder trouble... Perhaps the surgeries have caused some scar tissue causing trouble the the fibroids increasing pressure? Here is a tea you could make that would helpful for the pelvic region (and others) and the plantain in it can help if you are dealing with a minor bladder infection:

Mix 3 parts red raspberry leaf with 2 parts plantain and 1 part peppermint. Put 2 t. In a mug and add boiled water. Steep 15 minutes and strain. Take 3 cups a day for 3 months. (Sounds like a lot. But it takes time to heal. Red Raspberry may also be helpful for the fibroids as it is so good for women for so many things! )

Please read around on earth clinic some more about bladder infections or prolapsed bladder for more ideas as one of those things might help this secondary problem.

Please also let us know what helps you!

God bless you!

Fibroids: I have just learnt about this website 2 weeks back. I have started taking ACV with baking soda and molases. But I am not sure if I am taking the right kind of molases because I searched in all supermarkets in my city but could not get the black strap molases but jargery and brown sugar with molases. But since I started taking this mixture I have felt like my bulgy tammy has completely reduced. I am so exicited because I am getting back my normal shape. My periods this time were not heavy and took only 4 days unlike 7-8 days before. I also feel the tumor has reduced. After taking it for one month I will go back for scan to confirm and I will let you know my results. But I am already excited. It's also very easy to make your own apple cider vinegar with apple cores and peels (as easy as making sauerkraut or kosher pickles), or your can use whole apples if you want to. It takes a few weeks, but it's very inexpensive and you know what's in it! There are many tutorials and recipes available on the web.

Hi, Here's what helped me. In addition to having blackstrap molasses daily (I have it on toast with peanut butter - yum), take an iodine supplement called iodoral (available on amazon and other online retailers). Make sure your stored iron level is good (over 50) by requesting a ferritin blood test. Mine was 14, so I'm taking ferrous sulfate daily in orange juice to increase it. Use a progesterone cream nightly to balance your estrogen level. You can use a nonprescription kind like Source Naturals or there are a bunch of others. All of these helped me tremendously!

Hi, generally people take BSM to reduce the flow and same with ACV. Normally people with fibroids have heavy flow so you are lucky. I am taking vitamin A in cod liver oil (CLO) to help my heavy flow and small fibroid. I would recommend that you take a hair mineral analysis to check if you are low on a before you start it. My CLO tablets also contain vitamin e which is supposed to help too. Vitamin A helps the epithelial cells go back to normal, I took beta carotene for a while with no effect only to read that a lot of us cannot change beta carotene to vit A, so I think CLO should be better. The other thing I'm taking is an iodine supplement as this is supposed to sort this problem out too. Hope that gives you some ideas, good luck.

Dear Melissa, try to get information about "Uterine Fibroid Embolization". It worked for me back then not to undergo hysterectomy. Also I told a friend with similar problem like you about my experience and this girl got even pregnant after the treatment. Wish you all the best.

I am in my mid 40's, no kids (would like to have at least one), at 5'5" and now gaining some weight in my hip area. I am usually thin. I was diagnosed with fibroids - submucousal about 5.6cm located at the neck of my uterus. I have no symptoms, as with many people on this forum. I given the option of surgery (hysterectomy) which I refused. Came on to this site by researching some natural way to shrink it.

I found that everyone seems to be using ACV & BSM, so I decided to try that too. I have been taking that for about a month now. Not sure if it is working, feel the same. I am frequent with my monthlies sometimes on a shorter cycle or twice on some occasions, but no cramps, no meds, no heavy flow, just normal.

I would like to know if this is a remedy to stop pms, cramps, heavy flow or reduce the size of fibroids? If anyone has experience any change with fibriods or try any other natural meds please let me know. Thanks all!

Apple Cider Vinegar, Blackstrap Molasses, Baking Soda:

Pls at what time can one be using the above to shrink fibroid? Is it during menses or all through the month, putting in mind that one wants to get pregnant?

Feedback concerning the Apple Cider Vinegar (ACV), Blackstrap molasses (BSM). To whomever discovered this for Fibroids, heavy bleeding. I would hug for an hour.

I was frightened as after having the Oblation, left me leaking a gold colored discharge for 6 mos. The Plasma from my Blood leaving my body. I knew I was in trouble for my life. Desperate for answers I found Earthclinic.com and read every comment, and feed back concerning ACV, BSM.

What did I have to lose, I had the ACV, BSM in the cupbord. Within three days the large clots were almost completely gone, after 5 days I only had a trickel of blood. Today the blood has almost completely stopped. No cramps, and I am not carrying extra cloths with me. AMAZED that's what I am.

For Women that have been suffering with this condition:

Utrophin..1-3x daily( Standard Process co.)
Vessel Forte.. 2-2x daily(Design for health Co.)
Sesame Seed.. 1-3x daily(Standard Process Co.)
Progon B.. 4-2x daily Crushed put under tounge(Bezwecken)

These essential supplements will build the blood cells so you stand a fighting chance.

I will post again within 5 wks for Update on the clotting. Leann

Hi All! I tell you this condition is no joke.... I thank God for these online forums where we can share experiences. Well, .. 47 w/fibroids...and the rest you know. What has worked for me thus far has been loose leaf nettle w/raspberry leaf tea. Just make it w/equal parts. Try to drink it a week b4 "Auntie Flow", but she still comes a week early, tho her flow is not as heavy and she comes w/o the "dinosaur eggs". I do oatmeal often, and blueberries, walnuts, and I drink green tea, but need decaf. Finding it challenging to be consistent w/this regimen though, like I'd like. But noticed a difference fairly quickly-1. 5weeks or less. Of course when I can get organic, I do. But today I have started the BSM! , thanks to this sight and one I stumbled across re: BSM in the comments a mo. ago. Took 2tbs right from the spoon. Found I could handle that ok. "Auntie" said 'hello' today, and I know stress is part of her early shows. That's not new. Must continue to work on that thru-it-all! This condition can be so traumatizing that you just want to keep it from EVER happening again, so this month I'm doin the BSM, and I will start this weekend w/DIM or a combo cap of DIM and organic Maca, and Natto. It's finding what best works for the individual.. Praying for us all!

I had one, too, but after 3 months was back to heavy bleeding. So bad I was up during the night to change the bedding. I would bleed 28 days out of 30, very heavy. Finally had a hysterectomy, which fixed that but started other issues. No feeling at all below navel, kind of messes with intimacy and you don't know if you pee'd yourself because you can't feel anything until you're cold and wet. I taped my interview w/ the dr prior to surgery so I'd be able to go over it at home, this was not mentioned. After 8 years I have no/low libido, hot flashes like he** itself, mental issues (memory loss), insomnia (see my post about nothing works). Good luck to you. I'd try everything I could here before having a hysterectomy.

Susana, only the raw unfiltered ACV works! Can you order things to Uruguay on iherb.com? I live in Asia and order everything online.

Lisa from Dallas, Tx, Usa - I have been doing the Blackstrap Molasses and Apple Cider Vinegar on and off. But it seems it has been working pretty good so far. No more heavy bleeding and I have more energy. I like to know if I have to continue during my monthly cycle, because I have been stopping drinking during my cycle. Thanks Michelle

No they aren't. You mentioned sulphur being an anti coagulant. Everybody here is talking about unsulphured Black Strap Molasses so there is no sulphur. It is mentioned over and over again. Sugar is supposed to be bad for fibroids so that is probably why they don't use the regular one. I think the BSM is more nutrient dense.

@Kitti - you need to start slowly - 2 drops of 5% Lugols iodine 2 x per day in water - then work up to 4 drops 2 x per day. Even more, depending on your particular iodine deficiency status. It will take around 2 months for your body to have all it needs, at which time lower the dosage to 4 drops per day.

Iodine deficiency is one of the greatest health risks today, and can cause many ailments and dread disease. It will benefit all to supplement with iodine (Lugol's solution) permanently in low dosages, once saturation is achieved.

Hi Kitti... The strength of lugols iodine should be 5% but nowadays it is sold at only 2%. Therefore dosages will be different for 5% LI and 2% LI. You will need a minimum of 8 drops 5% LI to achieve a recommended dose of 50 mgs iodine to help cure fibroids and breast cysts. For 2% LI you will need 20 drops to achieve a 50 mgs dose. These dosages should be split into individual doses of 2 - 4 drops per individual dose. You can also use Iodoral(tablet form of lugols iodine) to achieve the 50 mg dose.

Here is some research on the effectiveness of iodine against breast cysts and fibroids:

http://iodine4health.com/body/ovaries/flechas_ovaries.htm

http://www.optimox.com/pics/Iodine/IOD-01/IOD_01.htm

If you take lugols iodine -- then the full Iodine Protocol should be taken to avoid problems -- shown here:
