For those interested, I've been taking a set liver protocol over the last 14 years or so that seems to be very effective. I take it every day without fail.
I thought it might be helpful to pass this information on. The protocol that I supplement with mainly consists of taking Milk Thistle, Selenium, and Alpha Lipoic Acid + all the B vitamins every day. This is my core protocol.

I decided long ago that it was all but impossible, unrealistic, and too expensive to eat organic food every day, and anyway, there's no real chance of me regularly buying organic food when living in the primitive provinces of the Philippines.
Here, people look at me funny and smile whenever I ask for organic this or that. So my approach turned into supplementing a preventative daily detox regimen where I don't panic or get paranoid if I'm forced to eat food from bad sources. The reason I don't panic is that I'm continually detoxing my body every single day.
I also try and eat food and veg bought at the local wet market in my provincial town, which also helps limit all those fungicides, pesticides, agri-chemicals, and poisons in the food because I'm not buying my food at a supermarket.
In my opinion, buying produce grown locally like this is by far the best and most realistic and affordable all-round option.
Healthy Liver Protocol
Here are the supplements that I take every day, with the addition of brewer's yeast for my B Vitamins.
1. Milk Thistle
Milk Thistle, in my own experience, is a genuinely mighty detoxer for the liver. In my opinion, no other herb comes close.
Other herbs like Burdock, Dandelion, and Hogweed (Boerhavia diffusa) are also very good for the liver. But Milk Thistle has one huge plus.
Milk Thistle is the only one that is a xenobiotic. There are poisons that you can eat that the liver or body knows nothing about, and so it cannot neutralize them or get rid of those poisons from the body, and they end up staying in your body permanently doing harm. But Milk Thistle will get rid of these poisons because it is an efficient xenobiotic that can safely remove toxins from the body.

2. Selenium
Selenium is a remarkable mineral that is hugely important in the human body.
Selenium removes mercury, it's good for the heart, promotes a healthy thyroid, reduces inflammation, protects the brain, helps to prevent cancer, boosts the immune system, and most importantly, it is the central metallic atom in glutathione, which is probably the most essential master antioxidant of the body that is essential for the protection of the liver, thyroid and the lungs.
The reason the auto-immune system does not attack or destroy host cells is that all host cells contain a code (hapten code).
And when an immune system cell interrogates that host cell -- "Are you friend or foe??" -- the hapten code response from the host cell is "Hey, I'm a friend." But if mercury is absorbed by the host cell, it will scramble the hapten code, so when the immune cell interrogates that host cell, it gets the wrong response so the host cell is attacked and destroyed by antibodies as the enemy.
This is what causes auto-immune disease. So if you regularly supplement selenium to remove mercury from your body, this must also help reduce the possibility of getting an auto-immune disease.

3. Alpha Lipoid Acid (ALA)
I learned all about Alpha Lipoic Acid (ALA) from Dr. Burt Berkson's research, who was also using the Milk Thistle, Selenium, and ALA + ALA IVs + Low dose naltrexone to successfully cure hepatitis C, liver cirrhosis, liver cancer, and pancreatic cancer.
From the Introduction to his book "The Alpha Lipoic Acid Breakthrough," which is all based on his own experience and research, in 2017, I added resveratrol to my daily detox protocol, which now consists of taking Milk Thistle, Selenium, ALA + B vitamins.
4. Resveratrol
I had been taking this protocol + resveratrol specifically to see if I could lose some weight because I was a wee bit too heavy for my height.
After seven months of taking this protocol, my wife said, "Hey, you've lost a lot of weight."
So I weighed myself and got a very pleasant surprise. I used to weigh 92 kilos, and when I weighed myself after taking detox + resveratrol for seven months, my weight had fallen to 75 kilos. I had lost about 20 kilos safely without doing any exercise. I thought that perhaps 75 kilos was a bit too light, so I stopped taking the resveratrol and went up to about 80 kilos, which, I reckon, is my fighting weight, so to speak.
On further researching resveratrol, I also discovered two things:
1. If resveratrol is taken with Genistein (another flavonoid) daily, then you will lose weight more rapidly than taking resveratrol alone. Milk Thistle contains significant amounts of Genistein, so there's the reason I lost so much weight so quickly. Milk thistle also contains substantial amounts of quercetin.
2. Research has also confirmed that when quercitin is taken with resveratrol daily, then the immune strength is twice as strong as it would be just taking resveratrol on its own.
Dosages
Here are the dosages of each supplement that I take every day:
- Milk Thistle....500 mg once a day with a meal.
- Selenium.......200 to 400 micrograms a day with a meal.
- ALA.................600 to 1200 mg a day with a meal.
- B Vitamins....half a tablespoon of Brewer's Yeast once a day with a meal.
- Resveratrol (only derived from Japanese Knotweed).....300 mg taken first thing in the morning. Should contain at least 150mgs of trans-resveratrol.
