Sprained my knee badly a few weeks ago. Have tried MSM, apple cider vinegar, cayenne, etc. Nothing works, although ACV and MSM do reduce swelling a little. It takes a long time to recover from a sprain, and working on your feet all day as I do just makes it take longer.

One other thing I suggest for that painful knee is MSM which is something our body needs to function properly. I started taking it l5 or more years ago and still sing its praises. You really aren't aware that it is doing anything until it suddenly hits you that the weather has changed (increased pain with weather change is why people with arthritis pain are so good at predicting rain or snow) and you aren't getting that confounded pain you are so used to getting at that time. To find out what this stuff, just type MSM in the search window and have fun reading. Seems it has some antiflammatory as well as cell regeneration effects. It is a whole lot cheaper and less] painful than surgery.

Apple Cider Vinegar
Posted by Talia (Redondo Beach, California, Usa) on 08/27/2009

Hi Julia, Apple cider vinegar can cause a burn-like reaction on the face if you apply it straight (without diluting it) for more than 10 minutes because the face is delicate. But I've never had any problems when I have applied it to other parts of the body undiluted. However if you have a scab in the area, acv may irritate it.

My husband has been bothered with a nagging knee pain for years now. He knows he needs to have surgery, but keeps putting it off. He had the worst flare up, I've seen him have and we've been married for 12 yrs. The pain was so tremendous he could hardly walk and you could see the pain all over his face. I've been a believer in ACV for years now, but it takes more convincing for him. After he'd fallen asleep, I took a hand towel and saturated it in ACV, wrapped it around his knee and wrapped saran wrap around it to hold in place. He slept with it on all night and could not believe his knee was 99% better when he woke up. That's been about a month ago now and he hasn't had anymore flare ups!!!

I love this site and always refer to it for cures. I also make sure to tell friends and family too!!!

If you don't add additional potassium to counter the salt in the baking soda you may find that your blood pressure rises on this regimen.

I am 31 years old and spent the last 20 years of my life being very active. I used to run 4-6 miles every morning and played tennis regularly. About 2 years ago I noticed a pain in my left knee. I saw doctor after doctor and the pain seemed to just get worse. I finally had an MRI and the Dr. said I had patella Tendinitis which is common. Many people have patella Tendinitis and continue to live and workout. I stopped working out completely and found myself becoming more and more sedentary. I live one block from the beautiful Pacific Ocean and I wouldn't even walk to the ocean because the pain in my knees had gotten that bad. I even started using a cane to get around. About 3 weeks ago my younger sister recommended that I boil some water and take 2Tbl spoons of ACV and that every morning I should drink 6oz of water with 1/4tsp of baking soda. I am an avid baker who has a gluten allergy so I never get to eat what I bake but I always have fresh baking soda on hand. I didn't have the ACV so I just started drinking the baking soda every morning and OMG I have been smiling from cheek to cheek because my pain has gone away. I am not running yet but I walk everywhere now. Baking Soda once a day has changed my life. After reading others stories I am going to start using the ACV because it sounds like it has many healthy benefits.

In response to post about cold showers at 3am, I believe that it is at about this time that Spiritual/Etheral energies are at their strongest also in relation to water, reading about Dr. Masaru Emoto and his research into water crystals will give you a whole new respect and understanding of water.

Ya exercise is the only thing that relieves knee pain for me too. I think it's because you force blood to go the the pain area and that starts the healing process laying on the couch and doing nothing is the worse thing you can do for a weak knee.

I READ A POST A LITTLE WHILE AGO HERE THAT SUGGESTED SPRAYING H2O2 DIRECTLY ON THE JOINT, SEVERAL TIMES A DAY WOULD HELP HEAL AND CONSEQUENTLY RELEIVE SOMEONE OF PAIN. HONESTLY, IT SOUNDED KOOKY, BUT I THUOGHT " WHAT DO I HAVE TO LOOSE IT CAN'T HURT". THE PAIN RELIEF WASN'T IMMEDIATE BUT WITHIN A COUPLE OF DAYS IT WAS LESS AND IN A COUPLE OF WEEKS I WASN'T USING THE KNEE WRAP AS MUCH AND NOW I HARDLY EVER USE IT. NOW MIND YOU I AM VERY OVERWEIGHTAND THE INJURY WAS SEVERE( I TWISTED A KNEE JOINT BADLY THAT ALREADY HAD ARTHRITIS IN IT ). I USE A 20/1 MIX- 20OZ WATER(DISTILLED) TO 1 OZ 3% H202(CVS PHARMACY) MY SKIN DRIES OUT WITH TOO MUCH PEROXIDE BUT YOURS MAY NOT SO YOU COULD UP IT A LITTLE. IT REALLY WORKS!

To Alain who kindly replied to my queries: Thanks for that info about acid alkaline balance. Makes sense to me. It took a bit of doing but I finally found some pH paper here in small town Spain. I consistently measure in around 6 pH. I've started drinking lemon juice with cayenne every morning and am watching that I eat more akalinizing foods, altho right now that's proving difficult because I'm traveling and it's harder to stay away from bread and some of the other acid forming foods on the road. I had been eating lots of small fishes here in Spain, using calcium ascorbate and yes, I had a series of chiropractic adjustments back home in Canada before I left for Spain. As I said, this has been ongoing for a while now.

You're suggestion about taking the epson salts internally sent a shiver up my back as that's the most loathsome part of the liver flushes, drinking that darned epsom salt. However, it's different just putting a pinch in water for sure, but ugh! Since I have the magnesium oil I will continue with it until I run out. I have used the H2O2 externally to no avail but will keep working towards a 7 on the pH scale. I just want to GET BETTER! As of yet, no changes.

iodine cured Bad knee.

35 years with bad knee. joint would come off some times. always swollen. applied regular iodine externally three times a day. applied one week on and 4 days off. only the affected part would mildly burn and the knee will feel bug crawling inside the skin. after a week the bad skin looked like war zone. so gave four days break. new skin came after break. started the application again. itch started badly on the knee. applied Tea tree oil over iodine to stop the itch immediately. after 4 weeks knee shape came to look like normal. at this time the effected part squeezed to the size of a quarter. still kept on applying on the affected area and surroundings. pain went away after 3 weeks from the start up of the application. but didn't stop applying. this has been 4 months now. knee is like brand new.

i did switch from regular store available iodine to lugol's iodine after 3 months. started applying iodine to every family member's joint pain and cysts. iodine never failed to cure.

For me exercise eliminates knee pain. I have also had meniscus issues in one knee for at least 6 years now after a particularly hard training session at my dojo in Los Angeles. I kept walking the dog after the injury, but didn't go back to karate for a good week. I did resume my training after a week and my knee felt better in 3 weeks. Now, oddly, my medial meniscus becomes inflamed only if I stop exercising for more than a week. When it does, I know I need to get back to exercising asap. Overnight the pain and inflammation diminishes to almost nothing. It's very peculiar thing.

Answer to Eveline from Canada, living in Spain about knee pain

I have Various ideas for knee problems.

Did you or Can you check spine and hip alignments with a chiropractor? Sometimes misalignment can cause terrible pressures on knees.

Also I would encourage you to check pH of urine and saliva. I would say, especially the urine's pH in case of uric acid accumulation. If the pH is on the acidic side, which is IMO most likely, an alkalizing diet will benefit greatly. But for pH testing, pH paper is an almost necessary monitoring tool.

Vitamin C (the buffered one like calcium ascorbate, this kind is not acid forming), Omega 3 from Cold Water Fish oil. Better yet, cold water small fishes like sardines and salmons (with bones). With these fishes you well get omega oil and bio-available calcium.

You use Magnesium oil, but there is something much cheaper that you can use. Epson Salt (Magnesium sulphate) is very cheap. Either externally, Epson salt baths/foot baths/compresses (see http://www.epsomsaltcouncil.org/health_usage_tips.htm ), or internally, a small pinch of ES with glass of water. In such small amount, you will not have the flushing effect. Epson salt contains sulphur, as MSM does. So the Epson salt provides both sulphur and magnesium.

Cayenne pepper for blood circulation.

There is a hand held device you can buy from internet that produce ultrasound vibrations which help blood circulation.

You may stop liver flush for a while as it is making your system acidic. Anything that detox makes someone acidic.

External use:arnika gel or tincture. H2O2 3% rubbing. Peppermint oil rubbing.

See https://www.earthclinic.com/cures/sprains.html

pH balance helped me quite a bit with my knee problems.

Good luck.

Is it possible to get too many minerals? I have been having ongoing pain in my knees for a long time now, almost 2 years. Some times it has been much worse and it often varies even within a day. I cannot crouch down at all anymore, have trouble getting up from the couch and have troubles going up and down stairs. I feel like an old lady. And I'm not!!

Nothing seems to be helping. I am Oil Pulling. I drink ACV, I drink turmeric tea, I take a TBS of aloe vera daily. I also drink a glass of water with himalyan salt dissolved in it. I use Magnesium oil every second day or so. I have used MMS, H2o2, have just completed my third liver cleanse (with no stones evident this time) have used jars of MSM cream. I don't drink coffee or alcohol, don't eat a lot of sugar, don't drink soda or eat processed foods. I have cut back on meat consumption lately. I have started recently using blackstrap molasses which is giving me another burst of minerals, I take it. Perhaps I am getting too many minerals, what with the himalyan salt, the aloe vera, the magnesum oil and the molasses? Any ideas?

I also suffer from a heel spur. If the heel is not hurting badly then the knees seem worse. If the knees are not bad then the heel is bad. The heel spur is more recent however. The knees, as I say, have been a problem now quite some time. I am at my wits end living with this constant pain. I cannot exercise like I need to and realize I could stand to lose some weight.

I really appreciate this website. It is so interesting and gets to be quite addictive. I have looked at everything I can about joint pain and heel spurs etc. Have tried the ice water, ACV wraps, etc. etc. I am so envious when I read about people who got rid of their pain almost instantly!! I have yet to pinpoint the perfect thing for me. I refuse to believe this is the way it has to be. I've been working with EFT but to no avail as well.

Thanks for any tips or suggestions.

Cabbage

Hi. About forty years ago I badly sprained my left knee when the heel of my shoe broke. Since that time it occasionally becomes extremely painful, with a large swelling on the inside of the knee (I mean the side towards the other leg). A few years ago, however, I read about using cabbage leaves to treat joint pain and so thought I would give it a go. Hey presto! It worked. This is the treatment: Take some large dark green cabbage leaves and cut out the hard stalks. Next, in their raw state, crush them using a rolling pin until the juice starts to run a little. Then wrap them around the knee--right around and overlapping--and then apply a crepe support bandage to hold them firmly in place. This is best done just before bedtime. Go to bed, get a good night's sleep with your cosy knee held firmly in place, and wake up smelling like a compost heap. Unwrap the bandage, discarding the leaves, and test the leg gently. It works for me and also for a student I once had on a dance/drama course. He was about 16 and practically crippled with the pain from a knee that the doctors could do nothing about. He tried this remedy--and yes, it worked for him too! Excellent website--thank you.

About a month ago, I started feeling pain in my knees... it started when I was sitting down. As time went on, it got worse and I went to see the doctor, who said that I had patellofemoral pain syndrome. Well, a friend of mine suggested that I take calcium, and I feel incredibly better. I take it twice a day- its in one supplement- calcium, magnesium, and vitamin D3 ... Calcium 333mg, Magnesium 167mg, D3133IU Please try it, it works !

Distilled Water
Posted by Anna (Philadelphia, Pa, USA) on 03/04/2009

I am a biologist and I don't think drinking distilled water is good for you!
1. you will lose a lot of minerals with it
2. water will enter body cells through membranes via osmosis - this may lead to their damage

I strongly recommend drinking mineral water!

Heel Spurs: Extreme pain in my heels started suddenly and I didn't know what was happening. My boss said that she had had them and had been given very, very painful cortisone injections. She said this may help for 5 years. I hate needles, so remembering that castor oil was very good for many things, massaged it into my feet along with Vicks vapo rub or any similar product and within 2 weeks, no more pain. I then was able to go overseas and walk 5 miles and no pain except I had a huge water pouch on the bottom of my feet when I returned. Rested feet 2 days, water reabsorbed into body and have had no reoccurance for 10 years.

Also, just came home from Thailand with aching, dragging leg and sore knees. I read the blogs on black strap molasses and ACV and have been taking daily and muscle ache in leg has gone, knees much better, so am a happy camper. Just have to try not to overdo my walking and climbing steep steps at 75 years of age. Also used the castor oil and Vicks massage on knees. Don't know why this worked, but no harm in trying it to get relief.

I just want to say THANK YOU so very much for the tip on the caster oil pack for arthritis in the knees. I was told I have arthritis in my right knee. I'm to the point I can hardly walk, sit, stand, or drive. I work 3rd shift and by the time my shift is over I can hardly walk out of work. I was told to rub my knees in caster oil which I have been doing. It helps a little. But, the pack. I didn't know. Thanks again.

I had knee pain for years. My knees were so swollen I could not even see them. The doctor prescribed NSAIDS, but I am not sure how much difference it made. I bought various things for arthritis, but nothing really helped. It did no harm. Then I started to read up on it, and most things i took contained Ginger, tumeric and others. I started taking Tumeric on its own 3 capsules a day and within 7 days my knees were almost pain free!!! i would recommend tumeric to anyone..

1st I tried BSM remedy for a knee issue but I needed surgery for it. Arthritis was found in right knee and now is in left knee. For a week and some I have been doing the honey-cinn and I positively feel the difference. I have not taken any prescribed meds. for a week. I add 2 teaspoons honey and 1 teaspoon cinnamon and add this to a cup very hot water. I drink this morning and nite. I also love the fact that it benefits me in other ways. Hope this helps someone else.

Having recently torn the cartilage in my left knee, simultaneously diagnosed "with a little arthritis" in the same, and swelling behind the knee. My Sport's Ortho said that the swelling was common with the torn cartilage but should go down in time. I began searching on the Web for a magical pain relief remedy (other than my already supplementation of Glucosamine Sulfate, Chondrotin, Taurine, Collagen, HA, Cats Claw, Bromelain, MSM, etc., etc., etc - .all of which I have been taking for years due to 27 yrs of cycling but at almost 68yo, something had to give). One subject that kept surfacing on the Searches was an old time remedy of Castor Oil. I'm not in terrible pain, but it is a 24/7 aggravation, as anyone who has similar discomforts can attest to.

I decided to give it a try; purchased a package of ladies' cosmetic, cleansing pads (~3"x4") and a small bottle of Castor Oil (CO),

I placed a pad on a saucer, saturated the pad with CO (not dripping) and popped it into the microwave for about 35 secs. I, then placed the (105F) warm pad on my knee; wrapped my knee-pad with plastic wrap (to keep the CO from staining the heating pad) and then applied a heating pad, set to Med. heat. I left it on for about 1 hour and when I removed everything, I did a "test walk" -not only was my knee not stiff, and the swelling was 95% GONE!! I could walk with 100% less discomfort and this was 10x more effective than the Cortisone or three Hydraluronic Acid injections I had received in a two months period. The other nice thing, is that you don't have to throw the saturated pad away; place in a Ziploc bag for the next application and just add a little more CO.

I generally apply this treatment daily, each time the knee feels better - I know it's not going to remedy the situation 100%, but has made my life much better.
