Hello. Reporting back. Been using the essential oil therapy for about 70 days. It has been helpful in reducing the crawling sensation on the scalp but I fear I am back to being as contagious as ever. Also starting feeling extreme cramping and diahhrea. I was able to resolve this by eating something like a banana or boiled egg about 15 mins before taking the treatment. Unfortunately it seems they are getting used to this and I can feel increased digging and am experiencing twitches all over my body. I am going to give the oils a break for a while and use the transdermal magnesium therapy along with taking tumeric. I also have some iodine and grapefruit seed citricidal on the way to me along with some powdered vitamin c as I saw a post that said that most vitamins contain magnesium stearate which is used to keep the ingredients solid or something but causes poor absorption of the supplement you're trying to get into your system. I would love to find a holist doctor but am afraid of infecting someone who's trying to help me. Thanks to earth clinic and everyone here, I would feel all alone without you. Best wishes.

Have you tried imersing your hair in olive oil, and leaving it on for five to ten minutes? then repeating in five days, apparently this suffocates the mites.

Hi Gavin, Thanks for your response. I've tried the olive oil and since I have had this so long I had many numbers to get rid of. It helped but didn't get rid of it. I'm sitting here with coconut oil in my hair now which I left on overnight (they say oil/vaseline or whatever you choose to use should be left on at least 8 hrs as the mites are able to shut down there systems for a time - I'm not sure how long). I am much better than I was when I started this battle in September 2012, but still get the feeling that my brain is being devoured and I experience soreness in my neck and shoulders. To help with this I use the sea salt and baking soda remedy Ted recommends to reduce swollen lymph nodes which I also had during one of the battles, and it helps alot.

PS This was a follow on post to my response to the essential oil therapy reported by Sherry below from a radio show called Horokane.

Sorry to hear that the olive oil didnt work for you... Over in this neck of the woods if you have a really bad infestation the common cure is kerosene, but you have to be carefull and make sure theres no open flame. If this is combed through the hair it will kill the eggs as well.

Hi Gavin, Thanks so much for your feedback. I happen to have a container of lamp oil I bought as a last resort. Thanks for the tip about combing it through the hair. I have long thick hair but am preparing to cut it short for the summer. I think I will try the kerosene ( I think lamp oil is the same thing) once I cut my hair as it will be easier to comb through. Should I wrap my head in cellophane and leave it on overnight? Thanks so much for your gracious assistance!

I really dont think that you should leave it on that long, Kerosene is petroleum based like petrol. I think over here they comb it in and leave it for about half an hour, then wash the hair well. Its basicly a light oil. It will take all the natural oil out of the hair as well, so it might be wise after its dry to comb some coconut oil back in.

I'm wanting to make sure of measurements for a couple of Ted's recipes for demodex mites or issues with mites. I need to confirm if recipe below is correct. Thank you.

- 1/2 tsp borax and 1/8 tsp of baking soda and 6 to 7 drops of H202 in one liter or basically 1 quart of water to drink daily?

- 1/2 cup of borax and 1/2 H202 in tub of water for bath approximately once a week or every bath?

- small amount of borax in palm of hand and add small amount of H202 leave on a few minutes and wash face afterwards - daily

To get the larvae and mites out of your clothes, simply stuff all the clothes into a big plastic bag, tie it air tight and leave it be for approx. 48hrs. Then wash them all at around 60 degrees c. The mites should die without food in about 2 days but to be sure, wash them at a high temperature. After that your clothes should be fine! Good luck!

Pests on scalp, face and eyes: I have battled these things since July '11. I've had 4 perscriptions of permithin, they are gone about 2 days and back again. I've tried oh so many remedies to no avail until now and have started Hydrogen Peroxide and Apple Cider Vinegar, and water;so far no relief. I am also using this solution on my head as well.

I am not bitten on other parts of my body other than these things getting into my very fine, thin hair. They had burrowed in my scalp and have caused crusty type scabs. I also had cataract surgery on my left eye in Apr '11 and have problems with it ever since, not healing as it should but around July after the surgery is when I started having the "pest" problem and they absolutely flock to that bad eye. I feel them all around and in the eye. I think they have burrowed on top of my nose and under the eye sockets too. Since reading how they reproduce about every 3-10 days I realized that my nose would look "bumpy" and have a couple of small round pouches under the eye socket and then would feel these things zooming all over my face and head, then the areas would be normal again for a couple of days but start all over again.

I have lots of digestive problems and am afraid to try the Borax remedy of drinking a very mild solution of it every day.

I also have used a mild house hold bleach/water mixture on my body and am wondering if I can use it also on my scalp? Since I don't have bites on my body, that may be the reason why because I put the bleach/wtr on my body but not my head?

I'm a senior and never had a bug in my life! Not even my 3 children ever had head lice or anything like this stuff and am about to lose it!!! How does one get in touch with Ted? I sure would like to hear what he would suggest... I try to say "have faith" but at this point, "have a shot" of something real strong!!!

Dear Jb, please dont use any bleach solution in your hair. It could fall out or change color... Find out from the opthamalogist if you can use a dry eye ointment, it will say nightime on it. I shut down my house completely my bed is all ready and I have one light on, closet to my bed. I go to the mirror and put a fine line of the ointment in my lower eye lid. It keeps them out of my eyes at night. When I feel them in my nose or eyes I use a netty pot. The salt solution brings me almost instant relief. If I feel them on my eye lashed I use my spit like a salve and it works to keep them off my lashes. To so my hair, I will use about 4-5 tsp. Of shampoo in my hand and use 5 drops of each of these essential oils-tea tree, clove oil, and lavendar. I dont add hardly any water, I just wet my fingers and run them through my hair and shampoo. Then I wrap my hair into a towel. I leave it in up to an hr.... Now at bedtime with my hair I use olive oil, yes its a mess or mayo w/olive oil. The mayo will be cold but it does stop them from moving. Vaseline in the eyebrows helps alot. God bless you, keep fighting. :)

l forgot something important in the essential oils remedy.

You use 5 drops of the essential oils in a little water, take 3 times a day for 3 days, then take 2 days off, then take 3 times a day for 3 days again. That's 3 days on, 2 days off, for as long as necessary.

Potential Chronic Health Effects:
Slightly hazardous in case of skin contact (sensitizer).

Repeated or prolonged exposure to the substance can produce target organs damage. Repeated exposure to a highly toxic material may produce general deterioration of health by an accumulation in one or many human organs."

I personally would never ingest Borax or put on my skin. MSM Sulfur is totally safe to digest, pour liquid in your ears & nose, apply to skin even in high doses. It is healty & beneficial for you. Please check into this healthy alternative. Studies have shown that MSM sulfur kills mites within 4 minutes.

About 3 yrs ago we experienced mite infestation, tried many things to no avail. I read on EarthClinic that diatomaceus earth and Arid Extra Dry Deodorant Spray was recommended. I purchased DE from the internet and meticulously dowsed with DE every part of the house, bed, sofas and every place I knew there were mites, ( I don't know if they were bird, or other kind of mites) and used the deodorant in both our cars as it was also infested. Closed the cars and the house for about 21 days. Took a long trip. Came back and the house was without mites, however, to this day I occasionally feel mites crawling in my face at night. I still think they are living inside my nostrils and ears. My husband does not feel them anymore. What helps me is a mixture that I put on my face every night that I know it prevents them from moving about my face.

In the palm of my hand I mix 1/16 of a teasp. of Mustard Flour ****(important, read below)
1/16 of Borax....... (I grind it finely in a coffee grinder about a 1/2 cup will go a long way).
2 drops of Clover Oil
2 drops of Eucalyptus Oil
2 drops of Pine needle Oil
2 drops of Cedar wood Oil
2 drops of Orange Oil
Mix it with a good hand lotion about a peanut size dab
then spray with a couple of squirts of 3% Hydrogen peroxide
Mix it and spread on you face, inside nose, inside the ear cavity. Not in the eye area. (*****)Be very careful with the strength of the Mustard seed flour... it can burn your skin badly..... So start with very small amounts first to test your endurance. It should just feel tingly. Using this nightly has freed me from these mites...... Sometimes I don't feel them for weeks, but I know they are not gone but in control. Please be careful with the children's skin.... Make sure it will not burn. You can find all these ingredients at Whole Foods or a Health food store. Wish you much success, Monte

It is impossible to still feel scabie mites in your face after 3 years without any other symptoms and reinfestation. And others around you would have symptoms too. Geez! I know because I have recently been battling the horrible creatures myself. I caught them caring for a woman at the nursing home. Practically everyone did. She had the crusted kind which is most contagious. So I know how they spread, etc. Just one female can cause quite a bit of infestation, and they do not stay in one place either. Especially the head and face! So to anyone with an "actual case of scabies"..... "bug spray" yup, I know it sounds unlikely. As anyone with this mess would know though, you get pretty desperate when you have spent money on creams and oils that don't work. Or harmed their skin with bleach, peroxide, borax, etc.

The relief that I am getting I can mainly thank the bug repellents with at least 25% deet in them, such as deep woods off, and other strong ones. I make sure I wash them off at least once a day, but reapply a little while later. I also find that lysol spray antibacterial cleaner stops them on contact, and doesn't hurt your skin. When I get in my car or get near anything with them on it, I can feel them. They DO bite! But if you spray immediately and scratch the area lightly, you don't get infested. The spots are almost all gone... I'm just a normal woman who has pretty bad luck sometimes, so what I am telling you is genuine. Don't waste another dime on stuff that doesn't work....

That was all good information. A pre-soak cycle on the washer may work just as well on the clothes, unless you're really curious about seeing what comes off of them. Also, I know an old woman who told me that baby shampoo is good to wash your face, eyebrows and eyelid margins with. It works well. Suave makes a dye free one. As far as the car goes, is it possible we are getting these bugs from our cars that sit in the garage or outdoors? Maybe a shot of flea spray on the car's carpets would be good.

Combine 2 tsp Tea Tree Oil, 4 tbs Coconut Oil and 4 tsp Neem Oil together in a bottle where you will have about four days treatment ready. After showering, apply from head to toe and allow to sit over night or even longer. Shower before each treatment and try to leave in for 14 hours or more while touching up areas that may have biting activity.

Very important: Steam clean your bed twice a day. Before going to bed and upon waking up. Clothing should be washed and dry on high heat everyday. Steam clean bathroom, shower, door handles. Steam cleaners are cheap and worth every penny.

Mustard Powder

WARNING!

I do not recommend the mustard powder treatment. I diluted the mustard powder in water until the mixture was 1/4 mustard powder and 3/4 water and applied it to my cheeks and around my hair line to get rid of the mites. It felt warm. After about a few seconds the area felt very hot so I washed the mixture off and my skin was brightest red. The mixture had burnt my skin despite the very low amount of mustard to water. I now look pale with but too ridiculously red cheeks which I pray will calm down as I have a flight to catch in 2 days and hate to wear make up on a long flight so instead I may look like an idiot unless the redness goes away.

I don't think this solution will work on caucasian or sensitive skin without burning it, if you dilute any more then the mixture is not effective. Once my skin is healed I will try Ted's borax and hydrogen peroxide method which seems a lot less harmful.

How I did it: I got it from a man who got it a few times from his Mother's cat. Each time he visited her and petted her cat he got it and this time he passed it onto me. But I forgive him. It started like lice on the head but soon moved to the body like scabies. No doctor could identify it and then a Vet finally did. (Yes I had frozen samples.)

-Kept the female away with vaseline (on hair and body) and then a rinse hair with vinegar and lemon wash, and scrub body with a lemon scrub in showers.
-Kept the female away with tea tree and cedarwood oils (rubbed on scalp daily, in hot bath, and on body with vaseline/oil) to dry up the eggs.
-Coated hair in vaseline for 3 days straight scared her away from my hair, and now coating my entire body in vaseline all night and during the day also is working also.
-Dried up the eggs, scrubbed hard to remove the eggs, oiled up to pick off the loose eggs, and maintained the procedure daily to keep the female away.
-Honey healed the rashes.
-Tea Tree Oil baths soothed the itch (mint just made the female move to other areas).
-Neem Oil kept her away but she returned as soon as any spot was dry.
-Vaccuumed daily.
-Laundered used clothes and bedding daily.
-Covered bed in plastic (zipper seal) and sprayed morning and night with lemon and vinegar.
-Wore disposable plastic gloves during cleaning and laundry.
-Bleach baths worked only somewhat. Helped me sleep at night but then she's return to lay more eggs, plus it gave my body red burns.

Summary: Vaseline, Lemon, Tea Tree Oil, and Cedarwood Oil rules!

Hopes this helps many of you.

You mentioned mites in your eyes and ears. I used a Listerine mouthwash in my ears. I put some in and put tissue in to keep it in. After about 3 days, I don't notice them anymore. You may have an overabundance of demonex mites in your hair folicles. I used bleach (different strengths), vaseline, sulfur cream and medicated lotion to decrease them. After I do a treatment, I put aloe vera on the cleaned face and leave it on. Also, sulfur soap will help decrease the number of mites. There is no cure for them yet, so all we can do is try to control them. One site mentioned putting pyrethrin cream on the face 1x per week, but they are deep in the pores and I'm not sure the cream would penetrate deeply enough.

In May, 2009, my mother died in the hospice ward of a decrepit hospital that allows and encourages wild animals into its grounds right up to the building itself.

When they returned her clothing, I found three neatly-folded hospital blankets at the bottom of the bag. They were caked with mud, animal droppings, bloodstains, and unknown debris.

From that bag, my home was infested with bedbugs and permethrin-resistant fleas, and I was infested with scabies. For almost a year, two pest control companies couldn't eliminate the fleas. I finally imported diatomaceous earth from the US and they all died in four days.

The scabies were also permethrin-resistant (Lyclear Dermal Cream and Derbac M all failed) so I tried Kleen Green. Inside a month I was clear.

But I was left with incessant tickles, "stinging, " and crawling sensations, as well as a little itching.

Two dermatologists and a psychiatrist diagnosed delusional parasitosis. None followed the protocols for making such a diagnosis, none would examine my photographic images, and I was given anti-psychotic injections (Risperidone) for a year without my knowledge or informed consent and instructed to ignore the sensations as they were just "transient itches."

For the full horror story, as well as many images of insects in hair follicles and sebaceous plugs, damaged and discoloured skin, please visit my website:

http://www.delusionalinsects.com

Thanks to a kind commenter on my site, I found Earth Clinic and all these possible remedies from kind and helpful people.

Thanks to the ludicrous delusional diagnosis, these insects have now had two and half years to spread over my entire body, from scalp to soles of feet. The only areas they haven't populated are the palms of my hands and my penis. I even have them in my anus, up my nostrils, and in my ear canals. My skin everywhere is dry, flakey, and itching has increased. Life is hell.

I've been drinking unpasteurised ACV "with mother" for over a month (three tablespoons in warm water taken with food three times daily) and have noticed only a very slight improvement.

I also take two heaped tablespoons of food-grade diatomaceous earth in a half-pint of water at about 7:30 each evening.

I shave my head and face every night before bed with shaving oil, then apply a moisturiser with aloe vera.

I was about to start spraying my body with a 50/50 dilution of the ACV when I found Ted's internal borax and baking soda remedy. I'm about to go mix up my first batch now but I'm a bit confused.

My questions:

1. How do you measure 1/4 of a teaspoon?
2. Another post here mentions adding a capful of 3% hydrogen peroxide to the water as well. Ted doesn't say to do this, so is it correct?
3. Ted's remedy on the Rosacea thread only mentions adding borax to the water - no baking soda. Why the difference?
4. In Ted's external borax remedy, he mentions using a "borax saturated solution" (what's that?) with 1% hydrogen peroxide but doesn't say what proportions of each to use. Anyone know the answer to this?
5. I'm 60 years old, osteoporotic, and partially disabled due to a spinal injury so there are parts of my body I can't reach. Consequently, I have to use a spray bottle or a long-handled applicator for my back. How important is it to massage this mixture into the skin? And how often should this external treatment be done?

Well, that's it for the moment. Thank you for your time, attention, and patience. I wish you all the very best of luck with these demons. And if you want to see the images the dermatologists turned their backs on, please check out my site.

I used the Borax water (1/2) and ACV (1/2) to get rid of the eggs under the skin. The ACV is the carrier and the Borax washes the protective coating off of the eggs and they die. I would shower every day (sometimes twice) and rinse off with the above mentioned solution. Bathe, towel dry off and then rub the solution all over (including your scalp and hair) and DO NOT rinse. Stand around for about 5-10 minutes and air dry). I stopped itching in a couple of weeks. I don't remember how long the adult mites live, but I put all of my consentration into getting rid of and keeping rid of the eggs. Put 1/8 cup of Borax in a gallon jug of water, give it a good hard shake and let it sit for about half an hour. The water will absorb all of the Borax that it can and you needn't worry about the little bit of risidual Broax at the bottom of the container. Good Luck!

@G from Sydney, Nsw Australia: Many thanks for the topical garlic recipe which I've only just seen now, thanks to the way this site is (dis)organised.

I see you're using it for bird mites. Humans are secondary hosts for these whereas we're primary hosts for human demodex mites which live in follicles and sebaceous glands, so I'm not sure it would work.

But nothing ventured, nothing gained.

I'll also see if I can get oregano oil (not guaranteed here in backward Ireland).

Many thanks for the tips.

@Faith from Forest Park, Ohio: I do use food-grade diatomaceous earth which I take internally every evening after dinner (2 heaped tablespoons in half a pint of water). I'm not sure about putting in on my skin though because it's a powerful dessicant. It also has almost diamond-hard sharp edges (which cut through hard insect exoskeletons like butter) so I'd imagine it could do fairly radical structural damage to the outer skin layer.

I'll research it. Many thanks for the tip.

I have a question when using the bleach and water after basing and wiping down everything in the house with bleach. But when taking several baths in bleach in water do they get rid of the spots that come from itching and scratching?????

I recently read that taking regular bleach baths destroys the normal skin bacteria needed for healthy skin and can cause the problem to get worse. Since your poor skin is already under attack, you may want to consider a different type of bath, like Ted's borax baths, not to speak of what chlorine bleach can do to your lungs.

Yesterday I had a major set back and really confirmed that these mites come from out doors.

Yesterday, I had 2 guys over to clean my yard for the winter. Today was unseasonably warm for November. While I was standing out there telling them what to cut down - the ITCHINESS started. I could feel the mites on me, my face and hands got intensely itchy and I felt the crawling. When finally went inside, I stripped my clothes off at the door and jumped in the shower. Used the clay mixture (bentonite clay, Apple cider vinegar and borax) and massaged it in. More black specs surfaced. For the past couple of days, I have had this large crusty rash on my forearms. Concentrated my clay massage there, a couple of black specs surfaced.

On my face around my chin line and hair line, I have developed a crusty rash. All along my hair line I exposed a lot of mites. DISGUSTING. Covered my ears with clay mixture and let it lightly enter my ear canal, cleaned with a q tip, saw mites. Rinsed off and oiled down with coconut oil. Anywhere I felt specs I wipped them on a paper towel.

Since I am African American, I don't wash my hair everyday. I have natural, thick, long hair and am really considering cutting it short - will see. Massaged a lot of coconut oil and tea tree oil into my hair and scalp to relieve itchiness (only temporary relief).

Been outside a few times and each and every time, I get the mites on me. What is this pestilence? I live in a borough of New York City, not in the deep woods! This reminds me of the movie, "The Happening. " The plants and trees started to emit toxins into the air that made people kill themselves. The planet started to fight back, against the virus (mankind) infecting and destroying it. Or maybe with global warming, pathogens that stayed frozen in the Earth are now starting to come up and out with the warmer climates. Okay, time to get a grip again and pray more.

Noticing there are lots of people complaining about allergies and itchiness. I really believe that people are in fact not suffering from the usual suspects of allergies but actually having a reaction from these mites. They just take allergy medication to stop the itchiness and never realize they have mites. This gives these mites a chance dig in deep and cause all types of issues.

My house is a mess, it seems all I am doing is taking clay showers (which takes a long time), changing clothes, changing sheets, vacuuming and steaming floors beds and couches and trying to keep the dogs comfortable and minimize mites on them. Praying, praying, praying.

Just ordered a (imitation) HC zapper off eBay. Will start zapping me and my babies. Seems like that will be a continual process of zapping, since these things seem to be in the air or coming out the soil. If anyone has suggestions on zapping these things, please let me know.

Looking into a uv, ozone air purifier and a colloidal silver maker. Any suggestions on those is appreciated.

More and more I am realizing that I have had this thing for some time now. When I look at all the symptoms I have had they all point in this thing. I can just imagine what other pathogens are in me too.

Just experienced an extreme bout of itchiness. Tried coconut oil, didn't help this time. Got the Apple cider Vinegar and sprayed hair, face, neck and hands down - soaked them. Stung at first but now no more itching. Will have to go out and buy 2 more gallons. When ever I feel itchiness I now spray or wipe the area with ACV. Spray the bed down before getting in and spray the coaches down. The grocery store ACV works well on surface cleaning and for spraying the dogs down. Using the _____'s ACV internally for me and the dogs (expensive)

I pray that Jehovah God grant everyone else dealing with this the blessing of a cure.

Naturalhomeremedies, I would recomend the UV Ozone and other types filtration (get your indoor air as clean as possible with other types cleaners FIRST, then add the O3 for max effectiveness). I have read that people who have abnormally high levels of carbon dioxide from breathing are particularly affected by insects, as CO2 is the green light for host finding (that's how they detect your body). Consider taking MSM supplement and add extra garlic. BreathWork or Breathing therapy may help. Maybe add a few drops of H2O2 to beverage once a day to increase your oxygen levels. Hope this helps.

Look up the cure for scabies. I think you mix something like borax and peroxide with water. This might help. Also, there is a borax solution you spray on furniture and carpets. Good luck!

After having these horrible things for a year, I will say one thing.. I used to have waist length hair but after about 6 mos of trying to fight these things, I knew that I had to cut it short. I use alot less products cutting the costs greatly, and it helped me in the mental battle too. Please think of your health first and how to make your lives easier. I am going to try and rid myself of most of what I own that isnt necessary just to stop having to clean and disinfect until I am toxic. For me the vinegar seemed to make them dig in even worse.. I am using epsom salt in my bath and borax for rugs. God bless and protect you all.

Hi I hope you are mite free today. I moved into a house recently and for the first week I couldn't figure out what was crawling on me or making me itch so intensely. It turns out I have dust mites I don't remember did you say what kind of mites you had? I just finished my ACV and tea tree shower. I have used up all my Borax but I should have two arriving tomorrow. This website ia truely amazing. Im not sure if I peayed or not on this matter but it was nice of you to share. Any how I assume you are a Jehovah's Witness because not many others know gods name. I am too so maybe if I come along some bumps in the road as o try and escape these bugs I can just ask you. Its nice to know another witness went through this, it is a bit emberraasing, my hair is falling out because the mites are eating it and I shower about every other day and get relief. Until I go back to bed:( I bought a fogger that should kill all adult mites, spiders, .. In the house this is insane, I Also understand that mites naturally keep our bodies ecosystem but I literally feel them jumping on my legs when I walk in mY house. I just wanted to say it was up building to see you post in here. Crystal
Sorry for any typos. I am very tired.

I just got some hemp oil from the health food store and wondered what is the best way to use it to enhance my efforts to rid myself of the internal bird mite infestation and/or possible morgellons? Should I use it in an oil pulling routine?

Please somebody respond soon. I have posted three times in the past two days, and would love some feedback.

Annescol from Amsterdam, I too am looking for hemp oil for mites... Unable to find it in the US. I read that one can ingest it or use it topically. Can you tell me where I can order the hemp oil... Or paste? Very grateful. monte91010(AT)gmail(dot)com
