If they are returning it could be that there's a nest somewhere. Locate the nest then repeat the treatment using ACV and cleaning your entire home. Wash every material you own and what you can't wash put in a plastic bag for three weeks I left it for a couple months, repeat until they're are gone.

HI U TROOPER, , , , , , , , , , , ,

Good to see others who use stuff made for animals. We buy our MSM and DMSO from our Farm Co-op at much better prices.

The sulfur procedure you used for your mites is the same as what folks have done for many, many years to cure their dogs of mange, which is demodex mites.

Heat above 120 degrees will also kill mites and all that requires is a sauna. I would be interested in how long you did this procedure because you have mite eggs hatching for a period of time and would be surprised if this was a one shot deal.

Hi you could ask your doctor for Mirtazipine 15ml, take 1hr before bed this helps you sleep. As it really affects your mental health if you don't sleep. Also. I am on 180mg of fexofenadine strongest antihistamine stops most itches & your body's reaction to them.

I've also had Permenthrim, Ivermectin at same time, then used Perm a week later, helps to get rid of the worst but I think if I had used borax straight after & ACV washes & drinks may have completely killed off. I use a Uvb lamp to kill off any mites in my bedroom & bedding 3x aweek. Hope this helps

A few new strategies Two weeks ago my bedroom was infested with "invisible bug" bird mites via an abandoned bird's nest that had been built in a potted cactus below my clothesline. I thought the bird's nest was cute and left it alone. Little did I know; actually, nothing did I know. My wake-up call came after I had been up reading on the internet most of the night. It was almost dawn and I lied down on my bed to try to get a few hours sleep. My torso was covered with a sheet, my legs sticking out. As I started to fall asleep, suddenly my legs were peppered with sharp stings, like sand grains blown by a hard wind or a shotgun shooting tiny shot. I looked and felt my legs but there was nothing to see or be felt. This continued intermittently and sleep was impossible, and remained impossible except for short naps in the daytime until three days ago. Talking to a friend in the US a little later in the morning I asked what sort of bugs were so tiny they were invisible; my friend suggested mites, and thus began my internet education on skin mites which led me to this thread on EarthClinic.a few days ago. Some things mentioned in posts here and on other threads inspired the two new ideas that have allowed me to sleep through the night the last three nights. Salty Sheets I saw mention of a homeopathic remedy called Natrum Muriaticum made from sea salt, and a couple of mentions of swimming in the ocean being helpful to decrease mite activity.

As I live close to the beach on an island in the southern Caribbean, I headed right down there and splashed around in the waves, while scrubbing my body with my hands. Sitting on a driftwood log to dry in the sun, I was inspired to rinse some clothes and sheets in the seawater, so I went back to my place and grabbed a bag of shirts, shorts, towels, and sheets, took them back to the beach, soaked them in seawater, wrung them out, and took them home to hang up on the clothesline. (I don't have a dryer). After they dried in the sun, I rewashed the towels but left the dried saltwater on the sheets, shorts, and shirts. I put the sheets on the inflatable mattress I am now sleeping on in the living room, steam ironed the shorts and shirts and started wearing them like that. The mite attacks decreased noticeably, and that night, sleeping on my salty sheets, I had the first decent night's sleep in two weeks. I just woke up from the third nights restful sleep, without a single bite, sleeping with the same sheets that haven't been laundered. So, we know that these critters don't like salt or borax, but though we have been washing our clothes and linens with borax, we have been rinsing it out. I'm suggesting that if the borax (and/or salt) are left in the fabric, that will prevent the mites from making a home or laying eggs in the fabric. With a top-loading washer, borax and salt be added to the final rinse so they saturate the fabric, then the fabrics can be put in the dryer and worn or used on the bed. With a front-loader that probably won't work, so the fabrics would have to be dipped in a bucket of borax and salty water, wrung out and then dried, but that would be well worth the effort if one can put on their clothes and slide between the bedsheets without getting attacked, because their clothes and linens no longer provided a safe haven for the bugs. Tobacco juice Tobacco is a powerful pesticide. I was reminded of this by a mention here and on another site that if tobacco leaves are put into a bird cage the mites will leave the birds alone. Following up on that, I made some strong tobacco tea, strained it into a spray bottle, and started spraying it on any spot that I felt a bite, or itching, or crawling. It worked marvelously, stopped the critters or the itching immediately. That is the second part of my salty sheets strategy, to spend the last hour or so before I go to bed spraying every itch with tobacco tea and rubbing it in. I made the tea by putting a good handful of coarsely chopped tobacco leaves into a pint mayonnaise jar and filling it with boiling water, then shaking it regularly while it cooled down a bit. Any form of tobacco would work; a handful of pipe or cigarette tobacco, or the tobacco from a pack of cigs taken out of the tubes and put in a jar. This is truly the best thing I have tried for stopping the biting and itching. This post is already pretty long. I will continue it with my ideas for alkalizing the body and actually killing bird mites in a later post.

Continuing the report on strategies for dealing with bird (or rat) mite infestation: because of my work with soil minerals in agriculture and long-time interest in optimal nutrition I am fortunate to have on hand many of the "tools" that are being used in this battle, such as borax, DMSO, EDTA, MSM, and sulfur. If I didn't already have them they would be difficult to obtain here unless I imported them at high expense and with a wait of six to eight weeks. I am sitting here typing and spraying tobacco tea occasionally after wiping myself all over with a borax solution mixed with a small amount of DMSO and sodium EDTA. Yesterday I was free of bites or itches when I went to the store and remained unmolested when I came home, until I decided to drag the infested mattress and box spring from the bedroom to the upstairs patio where I will burn it and my old pillows today. As soon as I grabbed hold of the mattress I could feel the little invisible buggers attacking me, but I got it done, both pieces, and then immediately jumped into the shower and scrubbed down with soap. After that I put on my swimming trunks, went to the beach and scrubbed myself down in the ocean. If I didn't have the beach right here I would have soaked in a tub of salt and borax, if I had a bath tub, which I don't.

Alkalizing the Body

Cesium (or caesium) is the most alkaline of all elements. On the periodic table it is in group I, the first column, below sodium and potassium. Cesium chloride is used as a cancer remedy because it rapidly alkalinizes the body. Most people have only heard of cesium as radioactive cesium such as is spewing out from the Fukushima Daiichi nuke plant, or from Chernobyl, but cesium is a natural if rare element. The natural form is not radioactive at all. As a matter of fact prior to the start of atomic explosions in the mid-1940s there was no radioactive cesium on planet Earth. Archaeological digs and soil layers in excavations can be accurately dated as pre- and post- 1940s by determining whether or not they contain radioactive cesium. It is likely an essential nutrient in small quantities; soil fungi rapidly absorb and retain it in the upper soil horizon, which is the major reason the radioactive contamination of the topsoil from the Chernobyl disaster has not appreciably decreased since the accident occurred in the late 1980s. There is no danger of radiation poisoning from taking natural cesium; quite the opposite; having reserves of natural cesium in the body will protect against the uptake of radioactive cesium from the environment. Cesium chloride can be purchased on Ebay; it is expensive but not much is needed, perhaps one gram per day. The taste is very salty, more salty than regular sodium chloride salt.

Another possibility is the element strontium which is in the second column on the periodic table, below calcium and magnesium. I haven't done the research to know just how alkalizing it is, but it's something I had on hand as an insurance against the body absorbing radioactive strontium from nuclear disasters. I bought it from a nutritional supplier as strontium citrate.

Killing bird and rodent mites

As I noted, until two weeks ago I had no idea of the worldwide plague of mite infestations. It appears this is something new that has occurred in the last ten years, mites readily crossing species barriers along with much more aggressive and treatment resistant strains of mites. It is also apparent that the medical professions and the governments of the world are either in denial or deliberately covering up this ongoing plague and nightmare. We can expect no help from them, we are on our own in figuring out the remedies. Much progress has been made in eliminating them from the body; the more difficult task is eliminating them from our living environment.

At this point it looks to me like the best remedy for indoor infestation may be denatured alcohol. I recently ordered a gallon of miticide called sterifab that got high reviews on another site; the reviewer said it really worked well, and noted that it seemed to be mostly alcohol. On this EC thread someone else wrote that denatured alcohol (methylated spirits) killed the mites. Denatured alcohol is ethyl (drinking) alcohol to which methyl or wood alcohol has been added which makes it poisonous to drink. That sounds like a good combination to me, as we have already learned that 91% ethyl alcohol is effective against these parasites. Perhaps it would be even better to just use straight methyl alcohol, spray it heavily in a closed off room, close the door and let them die. As methyl (wood) alcohol is very poisonous to humans one would need a good respirator at least, perhaps even an air supply, but regardless something needs to be found that works every time and to which the parasites cannot become immune.

I'm really hoping that spraying and fogging with pure or denatured alcohol is an answer.

Hi Trudy,

Thanks for your correspondence.

If you have a steamer ...yes, ., .the most effective is high heat. Bleach can be considered as an alternative to heat if one does not have a steamer. I have all hard surface flooring no carpet. I am still using bleach when floor mopping. If you have a steamer you can use it to clean your soft surface furniture as well.

This is an update to my previous post of more than 1 year ago see above.

Linda P. emailed me personally and asked for an update. Here is my response. Her email is below that.

Dear Linda,

Thank you for your e-mail,

You've knocked on the right door because I've learned quite a bit in the last year and a half/ 2 years that I've been dealing with these Nano insects.

I can offer you some critical information that has cost me several thousand dollars in pesticides, Dermatologists, remedies and on and on to learn.

I have had desperate times when I was covered over 25% of my body in bites to the point where I was embarrassed to go out in public.

Don't waste your time and money on Doctor's or pesticides as they offer only short term remedies that don't take into account that you will be re-exposed just by living in your home that is infested.

Originally I was given –permethrin 5% crème by my primary care doctor and it worked but after being re-exposed they returned because there is a very short reproductive life cycle 3-4 days. but the other issue that this crème is a poison and can be toxic if applied to often. The next step was the dermatologist that gave me 4 pills to take all at once called Ivermectin which also worked for as long as it was in my system but again short lived. Keep in mind the life cycle is very quick so one mite left alive on your skin can produce 400 mites in just 4 days. They are relentless and so must you be.

I've found that natural safe non-poisonous remedies work the best …I still have a mild infestation in my home and my skin remains clear. I do get bit whenever I'm home but I know how to get them out of my skin now.

There are many types of mites and they vary depending on which region of the country you live in. I found however that the truth is they are all microscopic about the size of germs or bacteria. Rather than trying to identify the specific mite your dealing with I just call them Nano Insects as they all respond to the same treatment. They are sensitive to their environment and when we change their environment to alkaline they die. Like bacteria they also cannot live in the presence of salt.

To get them out of your skin (they borrow into your skin like moles):

I use 1 cup of Borax detergent booster that you use for your laundry and 1 cup of Epson salt added to a hot bath. The bath should be as hot as you can stand it because it is important to expand the opening of your pores so that the salt and Borax can reach them. The Borax will turn the bathwater alkaline which will weaken them and the salt will kill them. I bath in this solution nightly for thirty minutes. I try to submerge as much of my body as possible.

After bathing if I notice any runs left by mites trying to escape the area …I apply DMSO 90%. This is a deep cleansing agent that helps whatever you use on your skin penetrate deeply through several layers of skin to where mites are living very effective. Can be found cheap on most websites that deal with livestock remedies/feed stores.

If you are dealing with eyelash mites and or ear mites they burrow into eyebrows, eyelashes, nostrils, ears and lips and attack you in your sleep. I use a multi-salt remedy. You can use sea salt or I like Dr. Teals Lavender Epson salt applied directly to the skin after steaming my face over a boiling pot of water to open the pores. This method can also work on different parts of the body but is dangerous because you run the risk of spilling the boiling water on yourself.

There is a preparation that I stumbled upon. It is a combination of different sea salts from around the globe in coconut oil that I've found most effective. It's not cheap but compared to other remedies it is cheap as I've been using the same bottle I purchased for $25.00 for several months now. It's called “Isle of Luxe” can be found at- www.isleofluxe.com It leaves your skin smooth and clear. Also works better if steam is used to open the pores so that it can reach the critters.

I hope some of these suggestions help you and if you need some suggestions of how to rid the critters from your domicile or vehicle let me know…I have some ideas or call me at [email protected] I was also born in 1951 (: Good luck Linda (:

A year ago you wrote a blog on earthclinic.com about curing yourself and your home of a mite infestation.

I am writing to find out how things are going a year later. Are you still mite free?

I've been fighting what I believe are mites for 10 months. The worst problem I have is the feeling that something microscopic is crawling all over my legs, scalp, ears, eyes, mouth and legs. They are worse at night but bother me both day and night.

Your suggestions would be very much appreciated.

Hi Rita,

I know what you're going through and its not easy.

Firstly, DON'T use foggers in your car... (or anywhwere else) they are highly destructive to the plastic lens over your gauges and other plastic parts and components like electrical contacts to make your windows go up and down ext. They are mostly in-effective anyway. I have eliminated them from my vehicle but it isn't easy.
]
Step 1) Get an ozone machine and run it in your car. The Ozone machine breaks the oxygen into 2 -3 parts changing it into ozone which the mites can't breath. This will suffocate them. You must repeat this several times a day because they run for 2 hours on a timer. You must repeat this for several weeks to defeat the life cycle as they have laid many eggs in the fabric of the seats under the seats in the dashboard ext. I bought my ozone machine air cleaner on amazon for 75.00 it was on sale. I would have paid more it was well worth it. But this alone is not sufficient. I also took the bathwater with the Epson salt and borax mixture after I was done with it and after I soaked my used sheets and bedding in it. I put it in a spray bottle after adding sea salt to the mixture. I spray the flooring of the car and if you have fabric seats you can spray them as well. The salt will dry and be noticeable but you can then vacuum it up with a vacuum cleaner.

Step 2)I replaced all carpet in my home with tile. Remove any fabric furniture from your home and clean it. It can be cleaned with the ozone cleaner along with any other infested items such as computers or tv sets. I use my shed out behind the house and I clean 1 item at a time because I find that most effective. You can clean items like shoes and other apparel in much the same way. If you don't have a shed you can rent a small storage unit that they drop off at your house but it must be airtight. I've placed small items in my car like a laptop computer and keypad while the ozone cleaner was cleaning my car it cleans these items as well. Don't expose yourself or breath the ozone is harmful to your lungs and can suffocate you as well. Be careful to leave the area once the ozone machine is running.

Step 3) Don't use poison internally or externally on your skin. It may cause damage that may be irreversible. For the the most part poisons are ineffective anyway. I have found that SEA SALT is highly effective in killing mites and mixed with Borax will create and alkaline environment that mites cannot live in. Salt by itself is hard to apply to the skin. So is borax so I make a highly concentrated mixture of salt, Borax, Peroxide and enough water to dissolve it. Mites burrow deep into the layers of skin and just surface application may not reach all the mites and if any survive the application they will return. I use steam to open my pores before applying the mixture. I boil water in a large pot over the stove and steam my hands, arms, ext...CAUTION: This method is very dangerous because you risk spilling scalding hot water on yourself. BUT...it is highly effective in opening the pores and allowing the salt mixture to penetrate deeply to where the mites are hiding. In place of steam you can apply DMSO 99% prior to applying the salt mixture. DMSO is a deep skin cleanser and will help drive the mixture deep into the skin where mites are living and laying eggs.
I also make a mixture of sea salt, tea tree oil and coconut oil and keep it in a mason jar for spot cleaning or I can carry the mason jar with me on outings. If I get a breakout (eggs hatching) while away from home I can get relief by applying the oily salt and rubbing it into my skin.

I hope you find these methods are effective and that you find relief from this scourge.

Please keep in touch and share your experience.
I hope wish you peace,

Ralph

The Pest control guy was fresh out of answers after several attempts. I finally ran up on a site in which someone tried Cedarcide fogging and it worked for her. Thats what I have been doing since July and it does work BUT my job and car keeps the reinfestation going. I sit at my cubicle at work and within 30 minutes they are all over me. I finally opened up my month and put in a workorder to spray around my area - but we both know this was not going to work. Ive tried DE for the floors and kept gleen green on hand. Now I'm sitting elsewhere temporary but I know my boss is going to ask me to come back to my desk. Please understand that I refrained from telling her or people at my job that I was the one that brought the bugs (this is shameful enough). No one to my knowledge have been infected at work, but when they came to spray, a couple of ladies felt biting; it lasted for a day...it's me the bugs really want!
> Would you please provide suggestions on what to do to kill the mites from my vehicle and job? For my vehicle I have fogged, pesticides sprays, and sifting DE on the carpets. I've sprayed 90% Alcohol but this seems to really agitate them and start biting. I am currently looking for another job. I cant remain there. So any assistance regarding my vehicle would be very helpful :)

Hi folks, sharing what works for me in killing the mites that I apparently picked up in early August after sleeping on a pullout couch in a hotel in Canada. It's the only thing I can trace it back to. The mites came flooding unto my face in an over 20 minute torrent while standing in the subway 3 weeks later. Since then it has been sleepless agony, 24/7 battle to remove them, stop the runners from running, biting, stop the insane feeling of the wriggling movements everywhere. SO WHAT I AM RECOMMENDING:
Overall systemic death: combo of clove, oregano, peppermint, cinnamon bark oils; equal drops in about 4 ounces of water and every 2-3 hours round the clock. It's been about a week and I feel almost free. For the "runners" in my eyes, I mixed the same formula in a more dilute form(about 6 ounces water) and use cotton balls to wipe eyelids, eyebrows and rub on every where else on your body these buggers are hiding out!

Also, wipe down floors with ammonia solution. Wear clothes, including head gear only once, towels, sheets only once. Wash in hot water, dry on high heat. Keep dirty clothes in separate disposable plastic bag. Discard bag after transport of dirty clothes. Wipe down hard surfaces with alcohol. I originally had written my whole horrible narrative about my ordeal but it disappeared before I could submit. I have been unsuccessful with many things I tried, including 4 times with Permethrin. Some remedies were good for only a few minutes, some for an hour. The dermatologists said after Permethrin there was nothing they could do to help me. So I helped myself. THIS WORKS! Thank you angel posters who shared your remedies. This has been the hardest thing I have ever dealt with in my life and I am almost 60 years young. :-)

I can finally see the light is at the end of a dark, dark tunnel. Thank you to the most high! Fellow sufferers be strong, try until you find what works for you. The answers are out there. Peace & blessings, Mariam

I tried a lot of the oils and none of them seemed to knock down these mites. After a couple of weeks of experimenting, this is what worked for me. I took a large spray bottle and put 1/2 water, 1/3 Ben's cedar oil indoor formula, about two teaspoons mint Listerene, two capsules yellow dock root (open them up and dissolve). Shake that up and spray on everything. Treat your clothes as soon as you take them off and leave them sit for two days before washing. Wisk detergent was the best I found. Then I added 20 Mule team borax. If you can hang your clothes outside, do it. Then bring them back in and put them in the dryer on high heat. Then, spray them again with the bottle.

Lint roll your rugs and pets. Spray your mattress, turn your ceiling fan on to dry. Then encase it with a cover. After that, get yourself a nylon sleeping bag and spray that. A sleeping bag in easier to clean every night and you'll stay warm without much cover. The African Pride Olive oil leave in conditioner was awesome. I also sprayed my hair with the spray bottle concoction. Bed head products are awesome to wash your hair with but be careful as they will make your tub really slick. Until you can get some of this stuff, get some mineral oil and garlic oil capsules. Mix about 10 of those in the mineral oil and rub on. If you have kids, get the baby oil gel and mix with the garlic. You can also mix a spray bottle of water and yellow dock extract to spray on their hair and body. Make sure they wear slippers so their socks don't pick them up from the floor. If you have cats, yellow dock root capsules are the only thing that they can tolerate that will kill these beasts. I put on gloves and rubbed it into their fur and ears. It worked quick! Yellow dock extract can be found at most vitamin stores.

I would like to add info to my post on tannic acid. I just received a new batch of tannic acid, it seems weaker than my previous order so I am going with blending to color rather than amounts. I mixed my tannic in 1/2 white wine, 1/2 distilled water, then mixed in enough tannic powder till mixture became a brown very simular to an amber glass bottle. Also tried some on skin in a very irratated area, between breasts, it did not stain after 4-5 applications in one day, I am very pale naturally. Also tried this on eyelashes and eyelids to test for those with them in eyes. It dries really fast, so a thin layer a few times, allow to dry on closed eyes, should give enough relief to go about the business of eradicating in house etc.

Hi and hello. so glad to read all of your messages. you communicate well about infestations and what to do about them.

Can anyone tell me the difference between Kleen Green and Kleen Free other than the price?

I've been using KG for a month and it has made a great difference in reducing the sheer numbers of mites. Getting good results, but it is very hard to analyze each movement and get up the energy to fight to good fight (vacuum and steam clean my car at least twice a week, plus all the rest of it)):

I want to switch from KG to KF. Has anyone else done that? Thank you

Kleen Green, at least twice daily, helped me inordinately. The product offers an insert with instructions for use. Also, petroleum jelly suffocated them for me on my eyelashes and eyebrows.

For clothes, place them in a bag, and store them in the freezer for at least six hours. This was a game-changer for me.

I freeze every garment I wear: jackets, hats, scarves, socks, shoes, everything. Make sure damp clothing, including shoes, dry prior to placing them in.

I'm so grateful for our online community here. Thank you, everyone who has taken the time and care to share your struggles and triumphs.

Choriopete Mite
Posted by Robert Henry (Ten Mile, Tn. ) on 09/04/2014

HI U MMSG AND TIMH, I struck while the poker was hot and coated my ankles with the 10 % Premethrin this morning and topped that with 70% DMSO gel. Yesterday I started with the Holistic protocol that my doctor recommended which is absorbed under the tongue. That is followed up with 3 oz of water that has the mite frequency embedded in it. This is the same principle at the Rife Machine except the frequency comes internally instead of externally.

I won't do the insecticide for another week but during that time I will use a sulfur gel compound daily. I have cured too many mange dogs in my life with sulfur and burnt motor oil and it worked every time. I have no clue where the mites are located but my ankles are the only place that my skin is not normal.

I also will use my parasite zapper while on vacation. If the mites go away, we will not know why. I used the same approach in strightening out stinking pulp mills . I shotgunned and the company made money but never knew exactly how the problem was solved. I just want to rid myself of mites and could care less how I did it. I'll leave that to the wormy college professors to study.

I have been doing it for about 2 1/2 weeks and my life is so much better. I still have problems with my scalp, but it is nothing like it used to be. I do not do my hair in the tub, I learned the hard way not to do that as it spreads to the rest of the body. If I could get the scalp under control I think I could beat it as my body is almost normal. It seems to move from my scalp while I sleep. You may be leery of using one whole gallon, but my skin is so soft now. It hasn't been like this for years.

Also, I get my vinegar from Sam's Club as it is only 4 dollars for 2 gallons.

I hope this helps you also. Carolyn from Kansas

Colloidal Silver and Coconut Oil
Posted by Hilary (United Kingdom) on 11/18/2021

Hi, I've been afflicted with this for 4 years now. I bought a microscope and I did find mites. I then had skin samples done and the mites were identified as rodent mites. It's gross.

I am exhausted from all the cleaning and I have 4 dogs that are also suffering, along with my 23yr old son.
I'm so depressed after this long of the constant crawling and biting. I'm starting to lose my hair my scalp is that bad. I use DE, Colloidal Silver, Neem, you name it.
I basically live on a combination of vallium, ibuprofen and fexofenadine (antihistamine)

I am now spraying constantly with CS everywhere and I do think the dogs are improving. does anyone think it helps taking CS orally?
My heart goes out to you all. Thank you for sharing.

I don't know if you are still suffering, but if you are please try this: in a spray bottle mix 1/2 apple cider vinegar, water and a lot of salt - 3-4 tablespoons. Spray it everywhere - on your cat (who won't thank you) on your scalp, yourself, your bedding, carpets - EVERYWHERE. Immediate relief. I cannot believe I struggled so long and the solution was so simple. Thank you God!

Hey Om: I agree I really want to try the Kerosene thing too. I saw a post where Bill said Diggers Low Odor was good as well as Klean Strip 1 K Kerosene. I also live in western Canada and am wondering where to buy and which one. Any ideas. Are you going to spray it on as well. please let me know how it goes. I work long hours and it is very hard not to itch in front of people. I feel very alone, as only my husband and naturopath know and the naturopath told me I did not have mites. Sigh. I used to really like him.

Can I use it on my hair? I've been drinking Borax which has helped immensely. I need to kick things up. How do you use it? Amounts? How long? If I understand correctly, this should kill the eggs. Is this so? Is there any other information you can provide?

Mite Infestation Bath Remedies
Posted by Meeya (Sunnyvale, Ca) on 12/03/2013

Hi All,

I've found quite a few good remedies and suggestions for dealing with mite / demodex infestations. But most involve "spot treating" different areas of the body.

One of the most helpful suggestions I've found is to take a bath 100% submersed with a snorkel. This way, all mites, including those that can hide in the eyes, ears, scalp, etc, are going to be treated.

Can anyone give suggestions on WHAT TO PUT INTO THE BATH??

Borax seems like a good idea, but it would take a lot to saturate tub full of water.

~Thanks for all your help my fellow earth clinicians!

My question is Denatured Alcohol different than the regular rubbing alcohol you buy at the store? For we tried that and that only helped temporarily. Back feeling bites within less than hr.?

I picked up a skin mite infestation while a tourist in the Costa Rica rain forest five years ago. I have tried ivermectin oral and topical including eprinex, permethrin 5% cream and 45% permethrin for extra large dogs, lindane, malathion bug spray mixed with rubbing alcohol and citra-solv, bleach baths, epsom salt baths, borax oral drink, borax topical, essential oils, neem, ammonia, sulfur, etc.

By alternating I can sometimes knock them back but nothing cures. I have seen two dozen doctors and specialists, flown all over the United States seeking expert help and while I have the skin scrape results to prove I am not delusional, the doctors are clueless about how to help me.

Can you give me a update on your experience with 'Quassia Wood Chips' oral and topical??

I was able to get rid of of scabies on my body will a combination of all of the above (mostly Benadryl gel and clove oil). The only way I was able to get rid of scabies on scalp was by putting on a thick layer of Benadryl gel. I believe that they suffocated In the alcohol gel.

I am going to get Benedryl gel right now. I will report back. I have morgelllons, and I have tried everything on my hair to get them out. I keep it in 2 shower caps, a wig cap, and a bandana on top. Nothing works 100%. I have tried borax & hydrogen peroxide (worked well on body), Dawn, horse paste, TTO & coconut oil, clove oil & castor oil, shampoos with tetra EDTA, hair dye, kleen free, kleen green, diluted bleach, RID, Nix, lindane 1%, lice freee, denorex extra strength, mayonnaise with additional olive oil left on 24 hr, glass cleaner, a dog shampoo with ketoconazole, sulfur 8 that I left 24 hours, Herbal Hair Oil left on 24 hr, sulphur soap 10%, all to no avail.

The hair loss is devastating. I am an alternative Health practitioner so I feel, in addition to hopelessness and isolation, awful about my abilities since I cannot even cure my hair, let alone cure myself. I read Ted's post on tetra EDTA and ammonium chloride yesterday, and both are in the mail. However, they are not fulfilled by the big guys online empire, they are fulfilled by the company so I have at least a week wait ahead of me. I am so thankful for this website, all the poster's stories and suggestions, and especially all of Ted's posts and responses. His observation of the hidden Morgellons nests in the ceiling was brilliance. I am researching the green led light as well. Much blessings and love, Starseed

Demodex mites infested my cat a couple of years ago, and I can tell you that I now have a success story. Thank you for all your posts. I tried, garlic, tea tree oil, H2o2 (food grade hydrogen peroxide), coconut oil, colostrum supplements, diatomaceous earth, borax baths, and on and on. Finally, I made a magic combination. I got the idea here! So here is the recipe. (He wears a cone on his head to prevent him from licking it all off) Put the cone on first!

2 oz or 60 mls warmed coconut oil. 1 oz or 30 mls food grade hydrogen peroxide reduced to 3% strength. 1 tsp dry mustard powder. 8 drops tea tree oil. 1 oz or 30 mls raw apple cider vinegar. I put it in a plastic bottle with a small opening (like from hair dying) warmed it to body temp. To keep the oil liquid, I shook it up, wore latex painter gloves, and massaged it in a little at a time. He liked the warm massage, and really didn't know I was soaking him until it was too late!

I first changed his bedding, and sprayed it with H2o2 and apple cider vinegar and let it dry. I did this because I was unable to actually get this solution everywhere on him (tummy and anus, tail etc. ) so I thought having it in the bedding would help.

I began feeding him about a teaspoon Apple Cider Vinegar in 1 tablespoon soft cat food mixed with 1/2 tsp. of powdered colostrum each day. I combed him everyday to keep his skin kind of groomed. I put this solution on each week, 2 times, because the recipe above made enough for 2 applications. He hated the cone and retreated into the back of the closet for a month, only come out when I pulled him out for food or combing or treatment. I kept changing his bedding. His hair began to grow back where he had previously lost it, he gradually stopped scratching so much he made himself bleed. After 4 weeks, I took his cone off, and he has now been cleaning and cleaning because his skin went kind of scaly. I still feed him the 1 tsp. ACV everyday in his food. The mites are finally gone. He looks great! I'm going to give most of the credit to ACV and some credit to the dried mustard. This magic combination worked!

One more note, (cause it's the little things that trip you up), get a large, rather than small cone. Put their food and water in a bucket that the cone fits over, and fill it to the top so they can reach to eat properly. Vacuum and spray ACV anywhere the cat frequents. Always wash your hands with soap and water after you touch your cat. I got the mites on my face beside my nose and had to use the same recipe on me!

Mustard Powder
Posted by Es (Nj) on 07/15/2015

I have to (respectfully) disagree about mustard powder being unsuitable to Caucasian skin. I'm white, of European descent, so my skin is rather olive-toned but definitely I am white. I use mustard powder in face wash, body wash, shampoo, and lotion that I made for myself. I dilute it as follows, though this is approximate:

Face soap: 1 tablespoon of mustard powder, dilute powder well in 1 tablespoon of hot water, then add several tablespoons of a plain, unscented liquid face soap. (for making this, I prefer the soap that's more like a gel or liquid soap rather than the really watery soaps that come out of the bottle as a pre-lathered foam).

To make shampoo, body wash, or lotion, I do the same.

I feel a bit of heat on applying, and as I lather it in, the heat abates. I leave it on for a few minutes.

My skin is now very soft & is soothed from the demodex mites. My hair is softer and fuller and lovelier than before. My shoulders, neck, chest and back are now clear of the mild acne that kept coming back every time I wore tops that exposed my shoulders or back or chest to my long hair. I feel cleaner. I absolutely love mustard powder, it's my newest discovery... I jokingly call this my "Marvellous Mustard Mask" or my "Magical Mustard Mix" and it makes me very happy! I had to play with the ingredients a bit to get it right, the trick is to be sure not to burn yourself. But make no mistake, mustard is powerful and will whip those stupid mites into shape! You don't have to fear the mighty mites that make you miserable... I don't anymore because I know they're very vulnerable to MUSTARD powder (:

I tried Borax mule stuff, but I wasn't very into that stuff, didn't find it as effective, and found it a big hassle. I used to use tea tree oil, and would still use it 50% diluted in oil around the eyes to kill ocular demodex (causing ocular rosacea - meaning messed up lashes and chronically red or bloodshot eyes caused by demodex in the eye area), but for my skin, it stinks. I don't like the smell, and mustard seems to be more powerful and do the trick best. My skin and hair are benefitting from it, and I no longer feel contaminated. I don't care if there are a few on me, everyone has SOME of them. But I like knowing they can't thrive, there are few. I also do a fun trick, I'm an early bird, so often wake before sunrise. In the dark, I sometimes wash my face in my "marvelous mustard" soap mix. Why? because some mites only come out at night, to mate (YUK! ) and flee in the light of day. No problem, I just kill 'em while they're out on their little dating scene on my face! As I do, I think... "See ya, suckers! "

Maybe some people are too sensitive for it, others must just dilute it enough.

I should have started posting on here much earlier buttt..... Thank you for commenting that the garlic did not work more than once for you. The original listerine worked for two whole weeks, I've now added pine sol and so far so good. I use borax and windex, but the pine sol and listerine mix on my body and on my bedding/ couches etc has worked great. I will be trying the other remedies, but the natural remedies do not work on bird mites... or whatever it is that we have.

Many thanks to Anon from Anon and to Susan from San Francisco for your responses and your very helpful tips.

I'm taking 1/2 teaspoon of baking soda in a half glass of water twice a day as well as the borax water. I'm going to try adding a capful of food-grade hydrogen peroxide to the borax water tomorrow.

This is now Day 3 and it's all definitely doing something. Day 1 was almost miraculous - tickles down from about 1, 000 a day to less than 100. Day 2 was not as good and I think I know why - this treatment seems to drive more mites out onto the surface of my skin. And of course every day sees a new clutch of eggs hatching.

I've been doing some more research on demodex and found out that while the males only live for 15 days, the females can live for up to 60 days. Which means I'll have to do this borax and baking soda regimen daily for at least three months to be sure of getting them all.

Also, I don't understand why so many posters here emphasise incessant cleaning of the environment when the demodex mite can only survive 24-38 hours if dislodged from the host. Plus, they can't fly or jump and they move very slowly (though they can speed up a bit in warm temperatures). Plus, you don't have to worry about eggs because they only lay them inside you.

For two years, I washed my clothes and bedding daily at 60 degrees Celsius (and sometimes 90) and dried them on high heat and it made absolutely zero difference to these mites because they can only live in your skin - all you'll kill with this regimen is any surface wanderers that get caught up in your clothes or bedding. All it did was destroy my stuff and cost me a fortune on electricity bills (money I don't have to spare). I also used to vacuum the entire house every day (and sometimes twice a day).

So now I sleep (or semi-sleep) on a rubber air-bed on top of a diatomaceous-earth-dusted latex mattress in a non-woven nylon-shelled sleeping bag (my pillow is a non-woven nylon bag stuffed with an old sweater). Every morning, I shake the sleeping bag and "pillow" out thoroughly in the garden and hang them on the wash line to air for a few hours (on wet days, I run them through the dryer on high heat for 40 minutes).

When I undress for bed, I shake out my clothes thoroughly, turn them inside out and do it again, then pack them into a double-sealed vacuum-pack plastic bag. Next morning I shake them out again before getting dressed. I only vacuum the rooms I actually use now once a week.

The only things I wipe daily are those I touch with bare skin - door and faucet handles, light and electricity switches, toilet seat and flush handle, computer keyboards and mice. Also, I never let my bare feet touch the floor and keep my fingernails as short as possible. And that's it - I don't have the time, energy, or ability to do any more because of my constant pain and the fact that virtually all of my life is now taken up with brushing these things off me.

Things are now no better nor no worse than they were before.

Specifics for Anon:

Vaseline: During my research, I read a post (can't remember where) from someone who had done this and it didn't work. But I came across another which recommended Vicks Vapor Rub on the most affected areas (which would be my entire skin). So I may give that a try.

Friends Help: When it became apparent that my home was infested and I had scabies, I told all my friends I wouldn't be seeing them for some time and informed them why. Two and a half years of solitude later, I have no friends. My brothers and sisters all believe I'm delusional because doctors are always right. And I can't afford to pay a nurse out of my pittance of a pension.

Since my first post, I've given this problem a lot of thought and what I do now is use the long-handled lotion applicator to get at just about all areas of my back, then wash as far down as my knees. (I've also ordered an exfoliation strap from the UK so I can get at ALL of my back). I dry off, then sit on a chair and wash my calves and use the lotion applicator for my feet in a plastic basin. I've superglued an old toothbrush to a plastic ruler and use that to do between my toes. It's a struggle but I can now just about manage to wash all areas of my body OK. It just takes me forever to clean myself like this (an hour and a half). Having to massage stuff into my skin for any length of time would be very problematic indeed though.

Specifics for Susan:

ACV plus borax water: I've ordered another five litres of ACV with mother so I'll have to wait till it arrives from the UK to try your recipe. The ACV is have left at the moment is only enough for internal use.

I've never been able to shower every day because I've always had extremely sensitive skin, even using Simple Soap (but I did it for a month twice a day when I had scabies and it almost killed me).

So what I would propose is to put your mix into a spray bottle and spray myself down nightly before bed.

Will this nightmare ever end?

Finally, a tip:

I've been in contact with the UK administrator of the Morgellons organisation (who has been an absolute angel for me) to see if they keep a list of sympathetic dermatologists and doctors for Ireland. They don't. But she gave me a recipe for exfoliation:

Mix plain green Fairy Liquid (dish soap - US equivalent would be Dawn) with fine table salt 50/50 and rub it into and over your skin. Leave it on for about five minutes, then rinse off.

When I came to rinse off, I initially thought that the soap must have penetrated my skin because it felt so slippery. Then I realised that this WAS my skin - all the dead stuff had sloughed off and it was like having brand new skin. I've now thrown out my exfoliation gloves (after immersion in boiling water of course).

Many thanks again to both of you. I'm exhausted. Bye for now.

There is a type of Chinese soap designed specifically to combat demodex mites. It's called "FaceDoctorX", but may be found for cheaper by the name "chang sheng soap". The main ingredient is seabuckthorn oil, so maybe you could just get the oil, directly.

I used it once because I had heard that acne cysts could be caused by demodex mites, but apparently this was not my problem, because it had very little effect on my acne (I think my problem was more about stress hormones, because it has since cleared up after life changes). It might be worth a try, though.

I know this is an old post and I hope you have found a cure. I wanted to suggest something inexpensive you can add to your regimen: palmarosa oil. Palmarosa is related to lemongrass and citronella, but the oil has a different composition - the same things are in it, but in different proportions. It is death to mites, and surprisingly safe for human skin. Some sources recommend it at 50% yes that is fifty percent concentration in a carrier. I have used it "neat", at 100%.

It works, it works, it works. If you braid your hair, you may be able to add it to your hair oil. You can surely add it to almost any lotion you use.

Once I looked up the chemical composition I realized that palmarosa might work well as a blend too, with citronella and lemongrass and geranium, any one of them or even all three. None of them are super expensive, and you can balance the scent so it's very pleasant rather than overpowering. Palmarosa has a surprising citrus scent to it, though other say it smells rosy.

Again I know this is an old post, I am going to put this up as a new suggestion since I don't see palmarosa in the index, and there is a pretty decent scientific paper showing that both it and clove oil are incredibly good at killing at least one species of mite.

I have had beloved neighbors who spoke of Jehovah God. I wish you every blessing.

Borax
Posted by Phyllis (Goshen, Indiana) on 10/01/2011

I have read where borax is toxic.

DE (diatomacious earth) is taken from the bottom of the ocean as ground up clam shells etc.. It is very effective for killing all sorts of small creatures -spiders, mites, bedbugs, worms, snails and can be taken internally for this purpose also. It can be purchased at graineries in 50lb bags for only 50c lb usually but it must be the type used in grains to kill insects -otherwise it may have arsenic in it. It may help your problem.

One tlbs per 125 lb of body wt is a measure given. It can be taken with foods or juices every day. I take it once a week or so.

Mite treatment Sept. 2011

This treatment along with daily washing of clothing and bedding, vacuuming, will go a long way to help promoto a cautiously optimistic feeling.

Morning and evening use a toothbrush and scrub the area 2 to 3 inches around the punctures with a solution of Dawn Dish soap. This will reveal many more punctures than you can otherwise see.

Soak in a bath of apple cider vinegar and epsom salts.

Brush the skin with a soft brush -whole body while in the tub. Pat dry

Treat punctures with Ox-e Drops ( Nyzme. com) or bleach solution ( 1 part bleach to 10 parts water.)

Apply Black Walnut tincture on a Q-tip to punctures and surrounding area. ( an anti parasite) dry skin with hair dryer.

Apply cortizone cream, or healing ointment, zinc ointment etc. Dust skin with Gold Bond powder.

Internally, take 5 drops of Black Walnut tincture in water three times a day. also 1 tablespoon Apple Cider Vinegar with maple syrup in glass of water twice daily.

Bentonite, 1 tablespoon in water will assist intestinal track to cleanse. (from health food store)

Have used this treatment successfully.

For months I could not figure out why I kept getting these small scabs on my wrists. I would notice them from time to time and could not remember how they got there. Then I slowly began to notice that my wrists, arms, eyes and head began to increasingly itch. It finally dawned on me that this was some kind of mite that I must have picked up from our neighbor's dog that we had looked after when they went on vacation. I figured it was from the dog, because they had to shave the dog's fur due to some kind of "skin condition" .

In any case, once I determined the problem I came to this site and tried some of the remedies and combination of remedies listed here. What I tried and what is finally working is this. It seems you do have to keep after these little buggers relentlessly. I started out using tea tree oil*, then neem oil, then sea buckthorn oil. They all helped a little but not enough to get rid of them completely. For me, what seems to have been working lately is a multi-remedy approach.

1.) I laundered my towels after each use. I changed my bed linens each night. When I washed my linens, towels and clothes I used hot water. I tried not to wear anything that required a delicate or cold water wash. My clothes were worn once and then washed. I used our normal laundry detergent, but I added about 1/4 cup to 1/2 cup of Borax to each load.

2.) I lightly dusted food grade diatomaceous earth* everywhere that I spent a lot of time that had some kind of fabric covering. I sprinkled it on the carpet near my bed and chairs, on my chairs and sofas, my mattress, on the mattress pad, in my pillowcases and on my sheets. I even dusted it on my legs and arms.

2.) I started taking 1 Tbsp of food grade diatomaceous earth* dissolved in a glass of water daily. At first I took 1 T in the morning and 1 T in the mid afternoon. After a couple of weeks I tapered off to 1 T at night. Some people are unable to sleep after taking it, but it actually helped me sleep better. I did this for 30 days. Once I started taking this the scabs and itching became more noticeable on my arms and legs. It seems it was bringing whatever mites were under my skin to the surface. I was really scratching then, but at least they were on the run.

3.) For relief, I covered my eyes in organic coconut oil. I did not pour it in my eyes, I just applied it externally to my lashes and brows. For the rest of my body, every day and night I applied, externally, some bentonite detox clay (the kind you take internally) everywhere that it itched. I would even daub the bentonite clay on my scalp where it itched. It will leave a thin film of clay on your skin and may look and feel dry but it definitely relieves the itch. I would then shampoo my hair every day with tea tree oil shampoo. On occasion I would daub tea tree oil* wherever I felt the itch.

It has been a little over a month now and they seem to be gone, but I will continue my treatments, for a while until I am absolutely certain they are gone.

*Please note that some people will react to tea tree oil. It did not bother me, but it can be an irritation to some. Also I underline food grade diatomaceous earth as that is the only kind you can take internally or allow to touch your skin. I know this has been mentioned before, but it bears repeating that there a two kinds of diatomaceous earth and you need to be certain that you get the food grade kind. You can usually find all of these remedies in your local health food store or online.

These mites don't mess around. I still have them. Sometimes they "run" with Cheyletiella mites, and you can get rid of those on your pets with a "spot-on" flea treatment that's pretty expensive, but not these mites that I have. They survive pretty much everything. (Personally, I'm doing a lot of praying about it. ) Here are some things that really work for comfort. 1) air mattress, 2) synthetic underwear (nylon, etc), 3) Menthol dandruff shampoo (comes in a blue bottle) or generic equivalent, 4) Vaporizing rub (that comes in a blue bottle and smells like menthol) or generic equivalent, for feet, privates, nose if it itches, at night. I even rub it around my eyes lightly if they're bugging me at night, 5) Foot powder -- Blue bottle with menthol. (Good in baby diapers, too, when mixed with regular baby powder. Start with 80% baby powder, and 20% foot powder. ) But I put it everywhere on myself. It has menthol so its cooling, but the buggers HATE MENTHOL. It lasts the night. I've mixed it with Diatomacious earth before also. Buy DE at a vet supply place online, because its cheaper. Use a dry sponge to pat it on yourself or a powder puff. You can put it directly on dogs, but not on cats unless you mix it with A LOT OF diatomacious earth. Cat's livers cannot handle too much peppermint, menthol, essential oils, etc. I just don't use any of that on a cat. (The DE doesn't get the bugs out of the house though. ) 6)And finally, turpentine and lotion. That stuff works, but smells a bit. DO NOT use this on a cat! But, I've used it for 3 years now. Nothing harmful. I buy "pure turpentine from tree resin" in a green can at big home improvement store ($7). I mix it 30/70, turp/lotion. No itch. At first, you turn pretty red and it hurts, because of the trails under your skin, but give it an hour and it gets less red. If it keeps hurting, wash it off and try again later. Take a shower with the shampoo for soap, too. I tried Ted's vinegar/borax solution dip for a long, long time, but once they're in your house, forget it. I still wash with 1 cup Borax in each load though. It's cheap. Try to get synthetic blankets and clothes, too. (I mean you can't replace your whole wardrobe, but those bugs love cotton, so avoid it. If you use borax in wash and don't wear things more than twice, it gets less itchy. A lot less. Don't throw your clothes away. Just don't wear them for a while) DE-XXXX additive for laundry works.($50/bottle on Amazon, "laundry additive, de-"). It has some stuff is poisonous in it, so don't use it on people or animals. Not for hair, nothing but clothes and linens. This stuff is really poisonous, okay? But it works on clothes really well. Unfortunately, I still have these bugs, but I'm much less freaked and more comfortable. Now, at least I sleep at night, too. I think God is merciful to those who pray and wait. Those who hope in him, so I pray for answers. I've tried A LOT of things (pesticides to the tune of $6000), but nothing worked. It seemed to aggrevate them. I even tried cedar sprays with no success, so don't waste your money. This is what I've discovered anyway and I hope it helps until you can get rid of them.

My problem is mites. I picked driftwood from the beach for carving, and a week after or so I got quite a few strange bites. Now I only have the feeling of crawling insects all over when I am in bed or at the sofa. It is very irritating. Tried insect sprays, mite killer spray and tea tree oil. Not any betterment so far. I guess I will try the cure suggested here. The onion cure will be my first.

Good that you all write because this "thing" can make you crazy and obsessed and even depressed. Thanks to you all, Ase

I went through a horrific experience with bird mites. At first, I was the only sufferer since females are usually attacked prior to anyone else in the home. I felt alone since no one believed me and started to think I was going insane. I lost sleep every-night and became delusional, enough to where I lost my job. My intense research brought me to birdmites.org where I finally had an answer. I went to the local pest store, bought residual indoor and outdoor products, fumigated the attic and also sprayed the yard and trees. A few months later did the same thing to kill the rest that hatched. It worked!!

Finally figured out that they came from a dead bird that was found in the attic after a hurricane. Also noticed it got worse when it rained or was humid outside (which is common in the south). If it would have gone on any longer, I probably would have taken my life -- that's how severe it became and I'm not a suicidal or depressed person. I am still angry that I was so alone and want to help anyone suffering from it. It can be defeated!!!

How to make a sane woman crazy? -- THE MITES. These creatures have ruined my life and doctors think I need a psychological work-up despite the bites and scratches on my legs and arms; despite the fact that my toes and tongue are numb from all the biting. I've moved into a hotel, sent my kid to friends, and this is costing me a fortune. I have a kid to put through college! I want my house and life back. But, this is so hard. I feel like a leper and can't do anything with friends. I love entertaining and can't invite anyone to my house. Pest control companies and their sprays have NOT worked. Trying to find a company that uses Vykane gas, but have not been to do that.

Kleen Green works for me. But, I only feel good when I'm in the tub. When the water goes down the drain what's left in the tub are tiny black mites. Tried Vicks vap-rub tonight. It seems to help a bit. Will try the garlic and know that I need to make my body more alkaline. Thanks for the information

There is no way you can live with them, I Hope you live in a state that gets cold, just turn off the heat 32 degrees for 24 hours that will kill them!! Go to your doctor, get Permethrin cream, and Malathion for your hair . You need to do this at the same time put cream on then do your hair, sleep on it, if you do this, you should be good

You can use on body and hair. And you don't use for a long time. It's better than being infested. You don't use straight hydrogen peroxide it should be diluted. Borax works.

It seems to me that before one begins trying the dozens of proposed remedies or solutions offered on this website, the first thing that should be done is to identify the biting critter that is microscopic. I've tried to collect samples by putting out a sticky wrapping take, but none of the pest control companies I've contacted actually use microscopes to indentify the type of mite. Has any one actually trapped any of the mites and had them identified by a university or health department? Doctors are of no help. Please advise - I'm losing sleep and my health over the infestation I'm suffering from. Ron

Spray it with a mixture of tea tree oil and peppermint oil and rubbing alcohol. These 3 mixtures they hate and kills them. Your house might smell like a peppermint factory for a few days.

20 drops of each oil to 1 oz of rubbing alcohol.. it worked for me . GOOD LUCK!

Sorry to introduce...ta da - collembola. Haven't read through all posts in case they are mentioned elsewhere but I'm dealing with these tiny crawling itch causing critters and searching for extermination methods (without having to throw out all my furniture and clothes, rugs, curtains, etc. Info on the internet is conflicting or purely discounting. “They don't bother humans.” to which one commenter on Houzz suggested the “expert” should be invited over for a home visit.

I have captured a number of the bugs (I read they're not actually bugs) on clear tape, I took a few video clips of individuals crawling in my bathtub -tiny, ~1mm long. The way I'm speculating on ID is that the first time I moved in with tape, the little guy jumped about 10 inches! That's the only place I can see them...when I shake out yesterday's bathmat into the tub.
I'm changing sheets, towels, clothes and flip flops every day, doing lots of laundry with borax, squirting diatomaceous earth lightly all over the house, using essential oil diffuser and trying various potions on myself, laundry and surfaces. Just peeked into EC today to see if I could use borax in a body scrub

I just tried Neem oil on my feet and it does seem ver soothing--taking away a hot redness. Do you think it's okay to put Neem oil directly on my wood floors? All my skin problems began with a deep itchiness on just a few spots on feet and fingers, which spreads by touch. The doctors are amazingly uninterested. I thought it was a fungus, or bacteria, but I'm beginning to think it's almost more like a Herpes thing, except the blisters never show up on the skin. Has anyone ever heard of this? Also, some of the swelling in my feet has subsided so that I now see little round swellings undery toes, and what feels like hot leather glued onto the large area under my big toe.Any advice?I don't think the doctors have their brains working too hard here in San Antonio.

I am looking into buying a dermoscope, which is a lighted magnifier that dermatologists are starting to use to detect scabies, in the hopes that if these idiots can see the bugs on them, they will believe that its not psoriasis, dry skin, just itches, or something l inherited from dad, etc. 10x magnifier. l hope l made it clear that it stops the itches within seconds, as it kills, and smothers whatever is under the skin.

Found a mini microscope for $12, most stock this in the store but I had to visit 2 before I could find it in stock. Magnifies with a little light 60-100 times. I have used it for my dogs mange mites. after a home visit from my vet and she brought her big professional one in suit case and still came up negative. It takes a while to learn how to use it but now I can use it to look to see if demodex mites are dead/alive on my dog. I have found its best to use some black type of paper or black hard board to put the specimen on to use this microscope. Most docs think are tiny microscopic parasites but you can see them with a strong magnification. Warning you will find yourself looking at all kinds of creepy crawlies using this little mini microscope. It works great for 12 bucks investment.

So, how long did l leave the lamp oil on? 24 hours, as l was infested head to toe. By the way, as you feel the redness and burning, that is the mites getting smothered, reacting the way they always do to different treatments that were effective. It will subside, and then you can wash it off if you want. l have very long, thick hair, and after l showered, l washed my hair as usual, and used a deep conditioner to counteract the drying effect of lamp oil. I used it twice a week on my scalp until l killed all the eggs hatching out. used lamp oil solidly for most of a year before l recovered my strength enough to clean and treat the whole house at once, and never noticed anything bad other than having to put shea butter on my heels and elbows daily. What have l tried? Probably every treatment listed on Earthclinic up to my last post in 2012, except a zapper or sauna. From experience, the mites l had were long lived, one week in a plastic bag would only have let them spread more. D. Gallinae can live 9 months off humans.

Spraying the house and cars with denatured alcohol with a little pennyroyal or cloves, 12-15 drops in a gal sprayer worked well. All l need help with is how to convince those relatives in denial that they have mites since they are not allergic to the mites like l am. Also, they are smokers, so do not experience much intense itching, as the tobacco acts like a repellant. They still wake up at 3 or 4 am regularly, confused as to why they are waking up. Now, my dogs were bathed with Ted's borax/peroxide baths and if my relatives re-infect them seriously l have given liquid ivermectin... 1 milliliter per pound on the insides of their ears, or on their stomachs (l have small 7 lb dogs). It's ok if they lick it, but take note that mites, like all living things will become immune to ivermectin if overused, or used regularly. It is in my arsenal of last resort. For human ears, Ivomec Eprinix mixed with a little dmso, it will kill mites. Put a few drops in one side, let it stay until the tingling subsides, then the other ear. L lay my head on the kitchen table. Do not stop the ear with cotton, you want them to come out of your ear. L rinsed my ears with a baby ear syringe and 10% vinegar water in my bath later that night. Best wishes to you all.

Hi: Sounds like your apartment, not you, has the issue. And your issue is solving itself. Good thing you are not brainwashed into thinking doctors have all the answers! Anyway i think you need to borax your whole aparment often. Buy boxes of it. Drive it into the carpet with a broom all along baseboards. sprinkle it all over your mattress. If you leave it for a day before you vacuum that is better and do it often.
when you treat yourself and your environment they will go away.

I hope you post again, would like to hear how you do.

I started using MMS for various reasons. Bought at the feed store for $7.50. My hair, which had been falling out from overtreatments for mites and stress, started growing in soft and beautiful, very fast. My nails got strong as well and my scars on my skin started fading fast. I swallowed 3 scoops a day for a month, then cut to 1 scoop a day. Stuff is bitter. As long as its dry there is not much taste so slowly pour it onto the end of your tongue, then swallow water and gulp it down. The results are worth it. Use borax baths (use teds recipes) and soak for an hour for soothing scalp issues. Don't forget to add hydrogen peroxide to the water first. Make like a mermaid as they live in your ears, nose and throat. throw out your pillows they are infested. buy new ones and cover with plastic and tape any openings, even zippers.

Cheers

Carpeting ? Put some diatomaceous earth or borax into it... Just make sure to get the pets out of the room, first, then put on a respirator type mask.. And distribute or dust around... You can put that onto your mattress, under the vinyl cover. If you wish, one can get the food grade stuff to ingest... It cuts parasites to pieces. Just make sure it goes down into the fibers, so that your dogs do not breathe it in, while rolling around, or laying their heads on the carpeting.

The second thing I used, was an all natural product that does not have fumes... I cannot mention the exact name, but check the Topix health blogs I posted.. It has the name in there... I got a whole gallon of the stuff.. I spray it on my mattress, on the carpet, on the tarps on my couches, in my car, and believe it or not, one can bathe with it in the bathwater.. I also spray enzymes onto my dog... I was using it on my skin, but I was slightly allergic to one of the enzymes.. But I would try that, if I could do so, as well! And it will kill the parasitic mites, dust mites, or dermodex ones, by eating through the exoskeleton, and it causes them to molt prematurely.. If they do that, then they die off! ... So I spray the entire bathroom floor, and everywhere I sat during the day, even near the kitchen sink, my computer table, etc.. All with no fumes, and no toxins. If you spray upholstery with it, say in your car.. It will dry clear, and have no scent after it is dry.. And it eats up dust mites, etc... And breaks down dirt.. So everything smells good, after it is dry. I am so allergic to poisons! Oh yeah, I set my spritzer with 2 onces of it, then add 14 more of the distilled water, then set the sprayer on a harder spray, so it goes into my dog's coat.. It immediately causes the itching to die down, so now he knows what will follow, and does not fight me on this--he simply wants the surface of his fur wiped down, so he is not soggy! Then, the poor baby can sleep..

Oh, yeah, try not to allow pets to sleep in your bed, until both are cured, or you will pass mites back and forth, into infinity! Tomorrow, I will put the mustard, castor oil, and virgin coconut oil onto his skin, for a more permanent treatment, to kill most of them off.. I did that with my own skin, and was shocked at how many died off.. Rubbed it into my hair, then put a shower cap on, overnight! It works! Bonnie

Ted's recomendation is to leave it on the skin but because it made my skin look dry I put it on at night and washed it off in the morning. I kept up the regime nightly for 1 month the went to every second night for 2 weeks, every third night for 2 weeks and tapered off.

I don't believe mine was a sugar issue and mites will attach to easy healthy option before they'll go for hard to grip damaged or oily skin that they find difficult to latch onto.

Also, use and change your pillowcases, i.e use 1 side tonight other tomorrow then change to prevent reinfection. Your pillowcases may lighten from the concoction so use old ones.

Many thanks for the tips, Dud. Unfortunately, I don't have a tub in my bathroom, just a shower stall. This has been a major hassle throughout this experience.

Now a tip for you and everyone else here ingesting hydrogen peroxide and baking soda at the same time.

Don't. Sodium bicarbonate acts as a powerful antacid. This means there will still be undigested food in your stomach for longer than is normal and when the H2O2 hits it, if there's iron, manganese, copper, zinc, fats, or Vitamin C present in it, it will create very dangerous free radicals which can severely damage the lining of your stomach.

You also need to carefully examine the list of ingredients of any supplement you may be taking for the things mentioned above and if it's the "slow-release" type, stop taking it as well while on H2O2.

I can say this with certainty because it happened to me yesterday.

Full story is here: Hydrogen Peroxide Cures

I find this website very confusing. Information on a subject seems to be spread out all over the place. For instance, on the above-linked thread, Bill from the Phillipines says you should only take borax water for five consecutive days, then take a two-day break. That information is nowhere to be found in this thread on Ted's Remedies. Nor does Ted say how long you should take it for.

And I've been unable to find the proportions I should use of 1% H202 to saturated solution of borax for topical use. Nor how to make a saturated solution (we're not all science grads! ). Ted doesn't give that information here. Nor does he mention how many times it should be done, how frequently, or for how long.

Very confusing.

Stay well and take care.

OK, I found out the exact mix for dog mange using borax and hydrogen peroxide on a blog-site whose owner used it on her own animals. I've been unable to find it again today to provide a link here but the gist of it is this:

1. Make up a 1% dilution of hydrogen peroxide either by adding two parts distilled water to one part 3% hydrogen peroxide (five parts water if using 6% HP, and 33 parts water if using 35% food-grade HP).

2. Measure out 48 fluid ounces of this and slowly add to it 8 ounces of borax powder. This should be enough to give you a saturated solution (there will be undissolved borax left in the bottom of the container - this means that the mixture is saturated). If you halve both of the above quantities, you can get enough to fill a 32-ounce spray bottle to about three-quarters. However, my spray bottle refused to work because of clogging caused by the undissolved borax powder, so you may have to remove the spray cap and pour it carefully into your cupped hand when applying.

Note: you do not need to use the entire bottle, just enough so you can thoroughly wet the skin and massage it in. I'm over six feet tall and fairly slim and I still have half a bottle left over after doing myself from head to foot.

3. Shower with tea tree shampoo all over and rinse off thoroughly but do not dry yourself.

4. Apply the mixture to your body starting with the neck, rubbing it in well, and work your way down to the soles of your feet. DO NOT RINSE. Be aware that if you apply this to your anus IT WILL STING - but this will pass in a minute or so. I did this as well as my scrotum because both these areas are considerably infested.

5. If you need to treat your scalp and face then YOU ABSOLUTELY MUST wear a good tightly-fitting and waterproof pair of swim goggles to prevent any of the mixture entering your eyes. The rubber-bodied ones are best because you can wet the insides before putting them on - then press on them when they're comfortable to create a suction effect around the eyes. Only do fairly small patches of your scalp and forehead at a time using small amounts to help prevent liquid runoff. BUT BE VERY CAREFUL - if you do get some in your eyes, IMMEDIATELY rinse them out with running warm (not hot) water for 15 minutes.

6. Leave the goggles on and air-dry for 5-10 minutes. When you remove the goggles, you can then apply small amounts with your fingers to those areas on both sides and the back of your head that were covered by the goggle strap.

I did this last night because nausea has prevented me from ingesting borax water for the past four days and my mites were making a substantial resurgence which was preventing me from sleeping. I applied it into both ear canals and just inside each nostril entrance without any problems.

I'm not recommending the following to anyone but I also managed to do my eyebrows (which are very infested - I now only have half-eyebrows left due to their follicle destruction) and areas reasonably close to my eyes by bending over at 90 degrees from the waist, wetting my finger with the mix and thoroughly shaking off any excess drops so my finger was just damp, then massaging it very carefully into those areas as many times as necessary.

My results were that all mite activity stopped, enabling me to sleep.

Today has been very good. I have had only two groin tickles and about 50 on my scalp and face. I intend to treat only those areas again tonight before bedtime because I'm still too nauseous to resume the internal borax remedy (my Christmas "dinner" today was two slices of dry bread, a yoghurt drink, and a glass of milk). Plus, my sensitive skin has always rebelled against daily showering.

For dogs, the blogger recommends all-over application every second day. Ted recommends that for humans, application should be done "several" times a day. I think I'll pass on that because of my sensitive skin and the extreme drying effect that this remedy has.

For this drying, Ted recommends topical oils, particularly lavender oil because demodex mites apparently hate the smell of it. My own past experience with oil-based topicals has been that demodex mites just love it, including neem oil - besides your sebaceous glands, they also feed on your sebaceous oil. So I'm now looking for a non-oil based moisturising/soothing compound with which to mix the lavender oil. (Remember that lavender oil is an essential oil and so must be well diluted before application). I don't know what proportions to use because, again, Ted doesn't mention them, but I'm sure I'll find them on the internet.

I hope this information is useful to someone. If you decide to do this, please remember to BE VERY CAREFUL OF YOUR EYES because hydrogen peroxide - even a 1% dilution - can damage them irreparably. So stay in the shower stall until you're air-dried. That way, you'll have immediate access to fast-running warm water should you need it. I sincerely hope you don't.

Take care and stay well.

Thanks for the link to this, Dud. It's fascinating stuff. About two years ago, a telecom tried to build a new tower about 1, 000 yards from my home but the local residents mounted a campaign to have them stopped. They succeeded. The nearest tower to me now is about a 20-minute walk away.

Having said that, this tower was present before my insect invasions started and I had no problem in sleeping for nine hours each night and no problem in going back to sleep after getting up to visit the bathroom. My problem started with the nighttime activities of the bedbugs and fleas, then the scabies, then the demodex. And they segued into the sleep disturbance caused by the anti-psychotic Risperidone.

I've saved this article as a PDF though and will try some of the tips outlined.

You've reminded me though that I tried an experiment early on in the demodex infestation. I bought an emergency sleeping bag, rather than a flat emergency blanket, and slept naked in it to see if it would have any effect. Back then I was getting what I called "swarms" every third or fourth night. This was a deeply unpleasant and intense body-wide sensation of fizzing and popping which would wake me up immediately. (I subsequently discovered that this was a large number of insects either hatching or crawling out onto the surface of my skin at the same time).

When I started sleeping in the emergency bag, all mite activity on my body stopped immediately, but my head (which, naturally, was exposed) became the target for these "swarms" instead. I remember waking up one night in a fit of sneezing with this going on - some of the mites had crawled really far up inside my nostrils and caused it.

As well as this problem, these bags are not designed for sleeping but for a fully-clothed person to remain awake and warm in life-threatening weather conditions. As such, when you sleep naked in one, your perspiration and water vapour which is output via the skin is not wicked away as it would be with fabric, but pools instead and cools in the bag next to your skin. So you wake up cold and wet. Consequently, I stopped using it.

I had a bad case of mites this summer. I used neem oil - three or four large dropperfuls in about a cup of olive oil, added some oil of orange. Put all over head, face, ears, neck down to shoulders.

Then soak in a tub of water - add hydrogen peroxide, one large bottle, about 1/2 cup borax and a cup or so of salt, oil up down to the water level. Soak for an hour if you can.

Then wash your hair with Dawn dish soap.

This causes a rush to your eyes as they try to get away, but using drops and resting in a dark room will get you thru it.

Do it once a week until they are gone.

I saw an article that recommended using lysol, the kind you dilute. Pour it on your scalp, ears, etc and let it dry. Leaving it on do it again and let dry. Leave on for all day or night if you can before you wash it out. Have not tried it as mine are gone or reduced so as not to be bothersome.

Good luck.

Have been suffering with skin problems for years it was especially worse on my face. Itchy eyebrows and ears.and a crawling sensation at night it looked so bad some days I would'nt even leave the house. had a skin biopsy done and it came back as demodex mite infestation. had no idea they had been causing my eye problems as well blepharitis, eye lashes falling out, dry & irritated eyes and blurred vision. my pores are enlarged & my skin is wrinkled with broken capillaries. have been taking doxycycline tablets for 2 months with no success tried the permethrin 5 times 4 days apart didn't make any difference. even tried 50/50 tea tree oil solution from head to toe for 2 weeks helped a bit with the itch but did kill them. am now trying benzyl peroxide has helped the itch on my face a lot. if this doesn't eradicate them completely I've ordered a product that is primarily used for animals for demodetic mange but I've been reading online lots of story's from people using it to cure their scabies and demodex infestations seems to be the only thing that really works when all else fails. has 73% sulfur 25% mineral oils and 2% pine oil from what I've read you should cut it down 50/50 solution with any essential oil or zinc oxide so its more tolerable with your skin at this stage I'm willing to try anything! You can order it from amazon or I got mine from e-bay.

I also have oily skin that is prone to breakouts. I have had great results clearing out blackheads and shrinking large pores by applying a paste of baking soda and water after cleansing my face at night. Just use it as you would a face scrub and wash off. My skin is so much softer and really does glow!

i would bathe the cats and yourself with grandpa's pine tar soap. just suds them up and try and leave the suds on for a few minutes and rinse. this will make the mites and/or fleas come off you and your pets and is also good for skin irritations. fleas, mites, mosquitos, etc. do not like the smell of pine tar and will not soon come back on the animals or you.

someone else may have some ideas for your house - but i know that anything with citrus oil in it can help. you might make a spray with orange oil and water and spray it everywhere. once my friend had scabies and came to my house and sat on my bed. that night after she had left i felt weird crawling sensations on my skin - but none got into my skin. later i found that the bath oil i used contained citrus oil and that is what saved me from the scabies. you can also spray this on your cats and yourself after the pine tar soap treatment.

good luck

Place your clothes in a bag, and store them in the freezer for at least six hours. This was a game-changer for me.

I freeze every garment I wear: jackets, hats, scarves, socks, shoes, everything. Make sure damp clothing, including shoes, dry prior to placing them in.

Kleen Green, at least twice daily, helped me inordinately. Petroleum jelly suffocated them for me on my eyelashes and eyebrows.

I'm so grateful for our online community here. Thank you, everyone who has taken the time and care to share your struggles and triumphs.

Hey guys, New to the forum, but was searching because I somehow caught mites. I had used just about everything y'all had mentioned then tried Hibiclens. When I tried it on small patches of my body, I used a white piece of t-shirt so I could see If any came of me. I did this in several spots including the area of the lady parts, and all told, probably about a 100 came off me. Going to get a big bottle more. And I will add it to the washer and thinking about using it on my floors.

I forgot to mention that I used FOOD Grade Diatomaceous Earth. It is real important to use food grade DE and not commerical DE.

I have been fighting this for 2 years now...quite frustrating to say the least, but have found some things that have helped greatly...I used a naturopath to test some cures...Venus Fly Trap extract tested positive as did Green Hull Black Walnut extract, Wormwood tincture extract, sulphur homeopathics and calcarea carb, Neem tested (likely for killing the flying things)... I have also used a homeopath and he has put me on what he feels is my constitutional and feels this will rid my body of them...Graphites is the remedy he said was my personal remedy...everyone has a different one and you need to find a good homeopath to discover yours...if will cure most of what ails you. I have to admit the things weakened considerably using the Graphites...unfortunately I need the coffee to work daily with lack of sleep and that does inhibit the effects of the homeopathic, as does mint and all strong smelling and tasting things (perfume) for example...which makes it difficult to effect the cure...but I'm pretty sure if you get your right remedy your body could heal itself...Homeopathics are miraculous...I've seen them do many amazing things overnight...stop OCD, make kidney stones disappear stop flu in its tracks, get rid of 104 temperature in 15 minutes, etc... So I believe homeopathics could do the job alone, but a combination of them and herbs could easily do it...I have found that calendula ointment and possibly wormwood on the skin really cleared up the mites on the face. Has anyone else experienced what I have with the worms? I never hear anyone talk about it...My white worms seem to harbor in my feet...and when I go to bed they seem to awaken and crawl up my legs to attack the rest of my body...I have had worms as long as 3-4" come out in the bath...I actually make large pots of wormwood/black walnut/quassia and other teas and strain them into my bath...helps some. I'm wondering if I have Morg and something else going on at the same time because I've heard no one else speak of these symptoms. I have found over time that these buggers become stronger the harder I fight them...especially the tea tree oil...it seems to drive them deeper into the body...when they feel under attack they lay larva like fiends. Anyway, I could write on for hours about my experiences, but this will do for now..Good luck!

How are you feeling these days. I have symptoms similar to yours. Morgellons, mites and white worms in nasal cavities. All came on at once.

I wonder if your homeopathic remedies have helped, I am killing some with herbs and Ted's borax and baking soda has taken the edge off the Morgs. Still have waves of mites and many worms have made themselves apparent in the rest of my body. I am hoping you can report some relief for your situation.

Bed Bugs Cure- HAIRDRYER! A friend of mine traveled through Africa and brought back bed bugs! I tried to help her for months trying to get rid of these creatures with every kind of spray, buying new mattresses--it was a total nightmare. They were biting her son almost every night--it was disgusting and frustrating. She spent a lot of money and time with all kinds of products and professionals and they would the bedbugs would just return. She was becoming very discouraged and depressed over it. Finally, I read online(after searching for months for a solution) that blowing a HAIRDRYER on the infected areas on high heat would kill them--permanently. Just use an ordinary hairdryer on HIGH HEAT all along the edge of the mattress and carpet, and anywhere you think they could be hiding(usually no deeper than 1/4 inch into the mattress so you just need to heat this up good). Putting the dryer on high heat, blowing the hot air closely for several minutes will kill the bugs and any eggs before they hatch. Do this BEFORE buying a new mattress so your new one doesn't get infected! This is the ONLY thing that actually worked, it's been several months now and no bugs have returned. Don't spend your money on services or expensive solutions that promise results--complete waste of money! Congratulations, you've just found the cure--and it's free!

Ionic Silver and Vaseline

re: American Biotec Labs ionic silver and JohnEllis.com water machine -- I have largely healed, very clear skin now after years of various illnesses and almost two years of hell w/ rashes, itches, lesions. Healed with about a half bottle a day of ABL silver taken as a gulpful several times a day. I also used vaseline, even on my head, and slept in it. Joy dishwashing detergent will get it out after a couple hair washings. Vaseline seemed to choke them off, make them come out, and was very soothing.
