Demodex mites infested my cat a couple of years ago, and I can tell you that I now have a success story. Thank you for all your posts. I tried, garlic, tea tree oil, H2o2 (food grade hydrogen peroxide), coconut oil, colostrum supplements, diatomaceous earth, borax baths, and on and on. Finally, I made a magic combination. I got the idea here! So here is the recipe. (He wears a cone on his head to prevent him from licking it all off) Put the cone on first!

2 oz or 60 mls warmed coconut oil. 1 oz or 30 mls food grade hydrogen peroxide reduced to 3% strength. 1 tsp dry mustard powder. 8 drops tea tree oil. 1 oz or 30 mls raw apple cider vinegar. I put it in a plastic bottle with a small opening (like from hair dying) warmed it to body temp. To keep the oil liquid, I shook it up, wore latex painter gloves, and massaged it in a little at a time. He liked the warm massage, and really didn't know I was soaking him until it was too late!

I first changed his bedding, and sprayed it with H2o2 and apple cider vinegar and let it dry. I did this because I was unable to actually get this solution everywhere on him (tummy and anus, tail etc. ) so I thought having it in the bedding would help.

I began feeding him about a teaspoon Apple Cider Vinegar in 1 tablespoon soft cat food mixed with 1/2 tsp. of powdered colostrum each day. I combed him everyday to keep his skin kind of groomed. I put this solution on each week, 2 times, because the recipe above made enough for 2 applications. He hated the cone and retreated into the back of the closet for a month, only come out when I pulled him out for food or combing or treatment. I kept changing his bedding. His hair began to grow back where he had previously lost it, he gradually stopped scratching so much he made himself bleed. After 4 weeks, I took his cone off, and he has now been cleaning and cleaning because his skin went kind of scaly. I still feed him the 1 tsp. ACV everyday in his food. The mites are finally gone. He looks great! I'm going to give most of the credit to ACV and some credit to the dried mustard. This magic combination worked!

One more note, (cause it's the little things that trip you up), get a large, rather than small cone. Put their food and water in a bucket that the cone fits over, and fill it to the top so they can reach to eat properly. Vacuum and spray ACV anywhere the cat frequents. Always wash your hands with soap and water after you touch your cat. I got the mites on my face beside my nose and had to use the same recipe on me!

Mustard Powder

WARNING!

I do not recommend the mustard powder treatment. I diluted the mustard powder in water until the mixture was 1/4 mustard powder and 3/4 water and applied it to my cheeks and around my hair line to get rid of the mites. It felt warm. After about a few seconds the area felt very hot so I washed the mixture off and my skin was brightest red. The mixture had burnt my skin despite the very low amount of mustard to water. I now look pale with but too ridiculously red cheeks which I pray will calm down as I have a flight to catch in 2 days and hate to wear make up on a long flight so instead I may look like an idiot unless the redness goes away.

I don't think this solution will work on caucasian or sensitive skin without burning it, if you dilute any more then the mixture is not effective. Once my skin is healed I will try Ted's borax and hydrogen peroxide method which seems a lot less harmful.

Wouldn't the paper bag with clothes in the oven be a fire hazard? I don't think I would do this. Also, I couldn't see spraying my new couch with Windex. It would ruin it.

Lamp Oil, Borax

I had a case of hives and thought it was mites. I took some 1% peroxide (2 parts water, 1 part H202) and 2 T. Borax and rinsed off with it (got this off of E.C.). Then, I used citrus dead sea salts and citrus exfoliating scrub. Seems to have worked a bit. Went to the doctor and she thought it was hives. Changed meds to dye-free. Will just have to wait now!

A few years ago my bed and blankets became infested with some kind tiny, very irritating and itchy bug which was extremely difficult to get rid of. What finally worked for me was to put all my laundry in plastic bags until laundry day(to keep the bugs trapped) and then, after washing, dry everything for 45 minutes to an hour at high heat including pillows. This will kill the bugs in the fabric. I then enclosed the pillows in two plasic bags each to prevent reinfestation and I then wrapped my entire mattress in lightweight plastic (five layers) to both prevent reinfestation and trap and starve to death any bugs remaining inside the mattress. This was after treating myself with over the counter lice killing solution. I left the plastic on the pillows and mattress for a year just to be sure and the bugs have not come back and it's been several years now. It is also important to vacuum the rugs once or twice in the area every day for a couple of weeks. That should keep them from hanging around. I was desperate and this worked for me.

How I did it: I got it from a man who got it a few times from his Mother's cat. Each time he visited her and petted her cat he got it and this time he passed it onto me. But I forgive him. It started like lice on the head but soon moved to the body like scabies. No doctor could identify it and then a Vet finally did. (Yes I had frozen samples.)

-Kept the female away with vaseline (on hair and body) and then a rinse hair with vinegar and lemon wash, and scrub body with a lemon scrub in showers.
-Kept the female away with tea tree and cedarwood oils (rubbed on scalp daily, in hot bath, and on body with vaseline/oil) to dry up the eggs.
-Coated hair in vaseline for 3 days straight scared her away from my hair, and now coating my entire body in vaseline all night and during the day also is working also.
-Dried up the eggs, scrubbed hard to remove the eggs, oiled up to pick off the loose eggs, and maintained the procedure daily to keep the female away.
-Honey healed the rashes.
-Tea Tree Oil baths soothed the itch (mint just made the female move to other areas).
-Neem Oil kept her away but she returned as soon as any spot was dry.
-Vaccuumed daily.
-Laundered used clothes and bedding daily.
-Covered bed in plastic (zipper seal) and sprayed morning and night with lemon and vinegar.
-Wore disposable plastic gloves during cleaning and laundry.
-Bleach baths worked only somewhat. Helped me sleep at night but then she's return to lay more eggs, plus it gave my body red burns.

Summary: Vaseline, Lemon, Tea Tree Oil, and Cedarwood Oil rules!

Hopes this helps many of you.

I should have started posting on here much earlier buttt..... Thank you for commenting that the garlic did not work more than once for you. The original listerine worked for two whole weeks, I've now added pine sol and so far so good. I use borax and windex, but the pine sol and listerine mix on my body and on my bedding/ couches etc has worked great. I will be trying the other remedies, but the natural remedies do not work on bird mites... or whatever it is that we have.

Diagnosing Mites

To Dave from Dublin, I had another couple of ideas; If you get pure 100% Clove Bud Essential Oil, it will blend directly into your Castor Oil and I think it will help. I would not exceed 1-7 drops max of Clove EO per ounce of castor oil if you do this. If you can't get Clove Bud EO, I would throw a dozen cloves (same ones you might find in the spice aisle at your local grocery and use for cooking/baking) into a blender with the castor oil or, better yet, crush or grind them fine as you can with a coffee grinder or mortar and pestle, then mix them into the castor. If you leave the blended cloves and castor in a clear glass container in a warm place (or maybe 12 hours in the Sun), it will transfer the clove essence throughout the castor, then squeeze it through a stocking or something and strain the clove debris out. Or, you could extract the crushed cloves into Vodka, and add tiny amounts of the resulting extract into your Castor oil, that should blend in and hold.

True that the Borax itself would not *dissolve* into the Castor Oil, but I was thinking more of using the Castor Oil as a simple "spreading tool" for the Borax, in addition to Castor Oil's own valuable insect-relieving properties.

Finally, I am thinking that Black Walnut Hull (tincture or a vodka (or ACV?) extract of it ) may be of some value to you also, Black Walnut gets rid of a lot of parasite/insect issues, Google it and lots of stuff should come up.

One more thing, have you tried soaking in a weak Borax solution, using it like a bath, without 'scrubbing' on your shower-sensitive skin? Might be another good thing to do, if you can do it.

My thoughts about the vaseline:

As a child I got chiggers from wading through high reeds at the local riverbank several times. I used to have to put nailpolish on the welts and lay on the roof of my Mother's house in the Sun to kill them off.

It only worked because the nail polish cut the chiggers off from their air supply and they smothered as a result. So I think the purpose of the vaseline is to keep the mites from breathing. And I think it would take a thick coat of vaseline to do that. IOW I think that *wiping off* the vaseline (effectively leaving only a thin coat behind) would actually prevent it from being successful, and just cause an inconvenient mess for you while a large percentage of the mites go happily on.

I hope some of these ideas are useful for you. Please respond with your results if you use them. Be careful with the clove, use less rather than more until you see how your skin responds to it.

Note about Mustard: It can burn you (I understand that desperation breeds a willingness to try anything. Therefore I am urging you to exercise caution). I would be *very* careful about using it. JMHO. Patch test on tiny area of skin, etc- A good rule of thumb for everything in this email, BTW.

You mentioned mites in your eyes and ears. I used a Listerine mouthwash in my ears. I put some in and put tissue in to keep it in. After about 3 days, I don't notice them anymore. You may have an overabundance of demonex mites in your hair folicles. I used bleach (different strengths), vaseline, sulfur cream and medicated lotion to decrease them. After I do a treatment, I put aloe vera on the cleaned face and leave it on. Also, sulfur soap will help decrease the number of mites. There is no cure for them yet, so all we can do is try to control them. One site mentioned putting pyrethrin cream on the face 1x per week, but they are deep in the pores and I'm not sure the cream would penetrate deeply enough.

Hydrogen Peroxide, Borax

Won't reverse the orange because peroxide acts as a bleach, but I use extra virgin coconut oil about once a week on my hair to help prevent nits and mites. I emulsify it in some hot water (don't mircrowave, it changes the integrity, cover my hair with it and sleep in it overnight... Simply shampoo in the morning. Works great on skin too... And my cats love it... I rub it on their fur and they like to lick it off. Not only kills fleas and mites, but helps with hairballs and a natural antimicrobial agent.

I have been suffering with an infestation for 7 months now. I've tried so many things and spent so much money and nothing seemed to make a difference. That was, until I was directed to this site and Toni's post. I was actually on the right track and didn't know it. I had been doing a mustard bath product every night for about 2 months. I would watch the bugs rise to the top of the water in the bath and was sure it would make them go away. The problem was, they were still laying eggs and hatching during the day before I did the mustard bath again. Now, since adding the regimen of the mustard powder in my shampoo, body wash and adding it to DMSO, something Ted had mentioned on the site, I am seeing a measured improvement. I am on day 8 and hope to beat Toni's 6-week time getting rid of them. The obstacles that remain are treating my ears, eyes and finding a lotion that can keep the mustard powder moist throughout the day. I'm having to retreat 2-3 times a day at work.

I got Bird mites from my son's parakeet. The bird also gave them to my cats who gave them to me. I washed my cats first in blue Dawn dish soap then in Neem Pet Shampoo. The next day their fur was already growing back.

Doctor's thought I was crazy and they wouldn't help me so I used the pet shampoo on myself because I saw that it was organic with all natural ingredients I figured what could it hurt. It helped me too. Now I found out that there is also a internal neem leaf product that can help rid you from the inside out of these pests. I can't wait to try it. I think that Neem is going to be my new best friend I hope this will help some of you that desperately need it. Tami

WORKED TEMPORARILY

I had a similar experience with garlic. In my case, it worked only 1 night.

I had coated my entire body and head with coconut oil infused with raw garlic. That night, I slept so well. But the next night, despite the same garlic oil, the bird mites (I have yet to confirm that they are bird mites) swarmed and I had a miserable night.

It has the acid mileu to kill mites, and the smothering effect of the jelly. Has anyone else used this? Must be left on the body for more than say 20 minutes.

OK, the proportions of borax to water for the topical mange remedy I wrote above is wrong. I originally took it from a dog owner's blog who found most of it here but couldn't find the correct proportions as recommended by Ted, so she made up her own.

After searching this site for almost a week, I finally found Ted's recipe buried somewhere obscure here.

According to this, you use between 2-4 tablespoons of borax powder in one litre of 1% hydrogen peroxide solution made using distilled water (1 litre is almost 34 US fluid ounces or slightly more than 35 UK fluid ounces). According to Ted, "the borax need not be precise, it is always a saturated amount of borax until it no longer dissolves itself."

Using 8oz of borax, as I originally wrote, won't do any harm - it's just wasteful and the large amount of undissolved powder clogs up the spray bottle.

@G from Sydney, Nsw Australia: Many thanks for the topical garlic recipe which I've only just seen now, thanks to the way this site is (dis)organised.

I see you're using it for bird mites. Humans are secondary hosts for these whereas we're primary hosts for human demodex mites which live in follicles and sebaceous glands, so I'm not sure it would work.

But nothing ventured, nothing gained.

I'll also see if I can get oregano oil (not guaranteed here in backward Ireland).

Many thanks for the tips.

@Faith from Forest Park, Ohio: I do use food-grade diatomaceous earth which I take internally every evening after dinner (2 heaped tablespoons in half a pint of water). I'm not sure about putting in on my skin though because it's a powerful dessicant. It also has almost diamond-hard sharp edges (which cut through hard insect exoskeletons like butter) so I'd imagine it could do fairly radical structural damage to the outer skin layer.

I'll research it. Many thanks for the tip.

@Linda from San Francisco: many thanks for the castor oil idea. I haven't heard of that dreaded stuff since I was a child a hundred years ago! But I've just done some preliminary research and it seems that castor oil is unusual in that it's able to readily penetrate the outer layer of skin due to its low molecular mass (whatever that means).

I'm not sure that adding borax would work since I don't know if there would be any molecular binding with the oil in order to carry it into the skin.

Hydrogen peroxide does this readily since the extra oxygen atom in it reacts with almost anything and brings it into your skin. The whitening of your skin when splashed with 3% hydrogen peroxide is due to those extra oxygen atoms that have just been delivered under the skin. It disappears in about 20 minutes or less as the oxygen is absorbed by the cells.

An unusual idea to use a powerful laxative on your skin, but I'll try anything within reason to be rid of these mites as quickly as possible. You can't buy stuff like this in Irish supermarkets but I'll ask my pharmacist about its availability and report back.

I've also found what seems to be a brand new way to kill these mites instantly apparently discovered by a member at the Lymebusters forum. It involves making a topical solution using dried mustard powder. I have more research to do before I try putting a known irritant like this into the skin all over my body.

Thank you again for the tip.

To Dave from Dublin,

Sorry to hear of your trouble, I have an idea which may help with the skin drying and mite problem.

If you were to use Castor Oil as a moisturizer, I am thinking that the natural Ricin in it may help to kill off those mites, as well as to moisturize your skin and prevent them from having a field day crawling around on you.

I don't know how your grocery markets are in Ireland, but here there are varying thicknesses of Castor oil available in grocery and health food stores, some are very thin in consistency which would be easy to spread onto your skin, and some are very thick and sticky like runny tar. For this, if it were me, I'd try the thin stuff first. The people who sell Edgar Cayce products also have it for sale on the web. They call it Palma Cristi.

I am wondering if it might not be a good idea to mix in a small amount of Borax into the Castor oil, if you can get any there. Only a small amount I am thinking, not enough to be unsightly on your skin.

If it were me, I'd also study other *nontoxic and natural* miticides, like the folks would use who have birds or other mite-challenged pets, to see which of them, if any, are safe for human topical use.

And set out Borax all over the floors, under mattresses, etc to kill off any adventurers.

My belief is that for every problem lifeform on earth, there is a naturally-occurring herb or substance which is safe, and which they will want to get away from. IMO you now get to create an environment on yourself where they would rather be somewhere else.

Might even be good to trap some of the mites off your skin, if that is possible, to test which human-safe substance might be of use in wiping them out.

I hope this helps.

Linda

Thanks for the link to this, Dud. It's fascinating stuff. About two years ago, a telecom tried to build a new tower about 1, 000 yards from my home but the local residents mounted a campaign to have them stopped. They succeeded. The nearest tower to me now is about a 20-minute walk away.

Having said that, this tower was present before my insect invasions started and I had no problem in sleeping for nine hours each night and no problem in going back to sleep after getting up to visit the bathroom. My problem started with the nighttime activities of the bedbugs and fleas, then the scabies, then the demodex. And they segued into the sleep disturbance caused by the anti-psychotic Risperidone.

I've saved this article as a PDF though and will try some of the tips outlined.

You've reminded me though that I tried an experiment early on in the demodex infestation. I bought an emergency sleeping bag, rather than a flat emergency blanket, and slept naked in it to see if it would have any effect. Back then I was getting what I called "swarms" every third or fourth night. This was a deeply unpleasant and intense body-wide sensation of fizzing and popping which would wake me up immediately. (I subsequently discovered that this was a large number of insects either hatching or crawling out onto the surface of my skin at the same time).

When I started sleeping in the emergency bag, all mite activity on my body stopped immediately, but my head (which, naturally, was exposed) became the target for these "swarms" instead. I remember waking up one night in a fit of sneezing with this going on - some of the mites had crawled really far up inside my nostrils and caused it.

As well as this problem, these bags are not designed for sleeping but for a fully-clothed person to remain awake and warm in life-threatening weather conditions. As such, when you sleep naked in one, your perspiration and water vapour which is output via the skin is not wicked away as it would be with fabric, but pools instead and cools in the bag next to your skin. So you wake up cold and wet. Consequently, I stopped using it.

Thanks again, Dud, and Happy New Year!

In reply to - David from Dublin, Co. Dublin, :

Dave;

I have come across a free 28 page report on the internet, which mite [no pun intended] explain several of your symptoms, and how to fix them. This includes

1. sleeping problems

2. mind racing, & brain fog

3. nervous system problems, anxiety, being hyper-active, etc.

4. immune system destruction and all the symptoms that follow that

5. headaches , etc etc

The causation maybe radio-frequency emmissions from inside and outside your home. Microwaves from cell phone towers, etc etc etc. Read the full report at: http://www.keephopealive.org/j2009v7n4.html

OK, I found out the exact mix for dog mange using borax and hydrogen peroxide on a blog-site whose owner used it on her own animals. I've been unable to find it again today to provide a link here but the gist of it is this:

1. Make up a 1% dilution of hydrogen peroxide either by adding two parts distilled water to one part 3% hydrogen peroxide (five parts water if using 6% HP, and 33 parts water if using 35% food-grade HP).

2. Measure out 48 fluid ounces of this and slowly add to it 8 ounces of borax powder. This should be enough to give you a saturated solution (there will be undissolved borax left in the bottom of the container - this means that the mixture is saturated). If you halve both of the above quantities, you can get enough to fill a 32-ounce spray bottle to about three-quarters. However, my spray bottle refused to work because of clogging caused by the undissolved borax powder, so you may have to remove the spray cap and pour it carefully into your cupped hand when applying.

Note: you do not need to use the entire bottle, just enough so you can thoroughly wet the skin and massage it in. I'm over six feet tall and fairly slim and I still have half a bottle left over after doing myself from head to foot.

3. Shower with tea tree shampoo all over and rinse off thoroughly but do not dry yourself.

4. Apply the mixture to your body starting with the neck, rubbing it in well, and work your way down to the soles of your feet. DO NOT RINSE. Be aware that if you apply this to your anus IT WILL STING - but this will pass in a minute or so. I did this as well as my scrotum because both these areas are considerably infested.

5. If you need to treat your scalp and face then YOU ABSOLUTELY MUST wear a good tightly-fitting and waterproof pair of swim goggles to prevent any of the mixture entering your eyes. The rubber-bodied ones are best because you can wet the insides before putting them on - then press on them when they're comfortable to create a suction effect around the eyes. Only do fairly small patches of your scalp and forehead at a time using small amounts to help prevent liquid runoff. BUT BE VERY CAREFUL - if you do get some in your eyes, IMMEDIATELY rinse them out with running warm (not hot) water for 15 minutes.

6. Leave the goggles on and air-dry for 5-10 minutes. When you remove the goggles, you can then apply small amounts with your fingers to those areas on both sides and the back of your head that were covered by the goggle strap.

I did this last night because nausea has prevented me from ingesting borax water for the past four days and my mites were making a substantial resurgence which was preventing me from sleeping. I applied it into both ear canals and just inside each nostril entrance without any problems.

I'm not recommending the following to anyone but I also managed to do my eyebrows (which are very infested - I now only have half-eyebrows left due to their follicle destruction) and areas reasonably close to my eyes by bending over at 90 degrees from the waist, wetting my finger with the mix and thoroughly shaking off any excess drops so my finger was just damp, then massaging it very carefully into those areas as many times as necessary.

My results were that all mite activity stopped, enabling me to sleep.

Today has been very good. I have had only two groin tickles and about 50 on my scalp and face. I intend to treat only those areas again tonight before bedtime because I'm still too nauseous to resume the internal borax remedy (my Christmas "dinner" today was two slices of dry bread, a yoghurt drink, and a glass of milk). Plus, my sensitive skin has always rebelled against daily showering.

For dogs, the blogger recommends all-over application every second day. Ted recommends that for humans, application should be done "several" times a day. I think I'll pass on that because of my sensitive skin and the extreme drying effect that this remedy has.

For this drying, Ted recommends topical oils, particularly lavender oil because demodex mites apparently hate the smell of it. My own past experience with oil-based topicals has been that demodex mites just love it, including neem oil - besides your sebaceous glands, they also feed on your sebaceous oil. So I'm now looking for a non-oil based moisturising/soothing compound with which to mix the lavender oil. (Remember that lavender oil is an essential oil and so must be well diluted before application). I don't know what proportions to use because, again, Ted doesn't mention them, but I'm sure I'll find them on the internet.

I hope this information is useful to someone. If you decide to do this, please remember to BE VERY CAREFUL OF YOUR EYES because hydrogen peroxide - even a 1% dilution - can damage them irreparably. So stay in the shower stall until you're air-dried. That way, you'll have immediate access to fast-running warm water should you need it. I sincerely hope you don't.

Take care and stay well.

Topical Garlic for Mites

Recipe:

Crush 4 large cloves of garlic & macerate with mineral oil(baby oil) or bath oil(bath oil is a soluble mineral oil, & for this application, worth the cost)

Let the mix steep for several hours, then crush through a fine sieve.

For mineral oil, add a little liquid soap or bath wash, to emulsify with water.

Add enough water to make the mix liquid, especially if you want to spray it on. Add some lemon juice to reduce the smell ( it does smell! The active part is apparently the smelly part, so no luck there). It may burn, so add as much water as you need.

Rub the mix wherever the mites are. They hate it & it kills them. They seem not to come back. Any further bites just rub with the oil, or hold them down with a garlicky finger. Mine would attach to the skin so I needed to scrape them back with a fingernail.

My infestation is probably bird mites & is highly resistant to permethrin products (applied in concentrations both absurdly high & totally irresponsible) & slightly deterred by tea tree oil but the garlic mix gets a whopping 9 dead bugs out of 10 for stopping power & revenge value.

Keep away from eyes!

The is adapted from a Depression era insecticide recipe which works really well.

Garlic stores it's winter food just above the ground, where all the bugs & bacteria live, so it's chemical protection needs to be good. The mite family has 50 000 species & pre-dates insects, so they know a thing or two about adapting to local conditions.

Hope this helps you murder those suckers.

I am experiencing an infestation of what I believe are bird mites. The critters are perhaps 1/2 mm long & bite. I am now using a garlic preparation that works well, killing the bugs & keeping them away:

1. Crush several cloves of garlic and let them steep in about 1/4 cup of mineral oil or bath oil for some hours (Baby oil is a mineral oil, Bath oil is a soluble mineral oil & worth the cost). Add some lemon juice to reduce the smell. Push the mix firmly through a fine strainer.

2. Add some liquid soap to mineral oil to emulsify then thin with a quantity of water suitable for rubbing on your skin.

It works really well. The recipe is based on a home insecticide recipe I found, modified for topical use. The only down side is the pervasive smell, but frankly I just really need the sleep. The quantities are rough: you are looking for a fairly pungent mix that does not irritate your skin.

My particular critters are only slightly deterred by tea tree oil, now they're running scared. I have tried permethrin based surface sprays & bombs which have had no effect whatever. Since permethrin is (supposedly) non/low toxic I even sprayed my hat to sleep in. The bugs just laughed.

Garlic & onions store their winter food just above the soil, where most of the bugs & bacteria live. So it's not surprising they have developed effective & general defenses against animals & bacteria.

The mite family has 50,000 species & of course they pre-date insects. They are top survivors. That species number also indicates they are masters of evolution & adaptation, quickly adapting to local food source & conditions.

Before I tried the garlic I thought I was screwed, completely. There are a number of other things to try: oregano oil is a top contender. I am also looking at rosemary oil & citronella oil. I intend to emulsify these for a surface spray. Steam cleaners are a known winner. Some people recommend Windex, which just sounds like a death wish.

Good luck, you can do it.

Many thanks for the tips, Dud. Unfortunately, I don't have a tub in my bathroom, just a shower stall. This has been a major hassle throughout this experience.

Now a tip for you and everyone else here ingesting hydrogen peroxide and baking soda at the same time.

Don't. Sodium bicarbonate acts as a powerful antacid. This means there will still be undigested food in your stomach for longer than is normal and when the H2O2 hits it, if there's iron, manganese, copper, zinc, fats, or Vitamin C present in it, it will create very dangerous free radicals which can severely damage the lining of your stomach.

You also need to carefully examine the list of ingredients of any supplement you may be taking for the things mentioned above and if it's the "slow-release" type, stop taking it as well while on H2O2.

I can say this with certainty because it happened to me yesterday.

Full story is here: Hydrogen Peroxide Cures

I find this website very confusing. Information on a subject seems to be spread out all over the place. For instance, on the above-linked thread, Bill from the Phillipines says you should only take borax water for five consecutive days, then take a two-day break. That information is nowhere to be found in this thread on Ted's Remedies. Nor does Ted say how long you should take it for.

And I've been unable to find the proportions I should use of 1% H202 to saturated solution of borax for topical use. Nor how to make a saturated solution (we're not all science grads! ). Ted doesn't give that information here. Nor does he mention how many times it should be done, how frequently, or for how long.

Very confusing.

Stay well and take care.

David from Dublin,

[this is a re-post, the 1st post got into the wrong thread]

You're doin good.

I downloaded the peroxide book, thanks for the tip.

Here is another easy protocol to add to your regimen, that may help your skin itches immensely:

Use the borax powder in a hot tub of water to soak in for 30 to 60 minutes. Soak in it every day, or every othe day. Use the time to relax. Most people get the bathtub water comfortably hot. The hot water alone helps the fibromyalgia symptoms [soreness]. The borax in the water will kill the mites externally, and under the skin. It is a fungicide & a bacteria-cide. Some people report seeing black specs, etc. , floating in the bath tub, coming out of their skin. Also add epsom salts [magnesium sulphate] to the soak water, to get it's benefits also. It has a drawing power to it. It is used by sports teams for sore mucles and bruises. Bangkok Ted recommends using the borax externally for mites in this manner. You should feel much better for a couple of hours after soaking in this. You mite kill off the biotics crawling on your skin.

possible amounts: borax: 4 tablesoons epsom salts: 1 quart

cost: about 50 cents U. S. For the borax, about $2 U. S. Dollars for the epsom salts. [in the USA]

Also; You may want to change the way you are using the vinegar internally. Do some Research on earhclinic.com on how to use it. Maybe switch to taking it 1 hour away from meals, instead of with meals. In general; taking it with meals is usually not recommended, because of it interfering with your food digestion. Mix it with about 6 ounces of water, adding 1/4 teaspoon of sodium bicarbonate to it, to reduce the acidity of the vinegar, and to improve it's ability to alkalize the blood. Take this mixture about 1 hour away from meals.

However, if taking it with meals seems to help you, then go ahead and continue taking it that way.

Read more about the why & how of it by searching the earhclinic website for older messages. Bangkok Ted has explained this alkalizing method in great detail in past messages.

good luck."

In keeping with EC guidelines I've not been posting my progress here daily. However, I'm now on Day 7 of Ted's remedy and I feel I should report my experience so far:

The remedy: I dissolve 1/4 teaspoon of pharmaceutical-grade borax in one litre of water and sip it throughout the day. Additionally, I drink 1/2 teaspoon of sodium bicarbonate in 1/2 glass of water twice daily.

I also drink unpasteurised ACV "with mother" in a glass of warm water three times daily with meals, two tablespoons of food-grade diatomaceous earth in water daily, one high quality multi-nutrient capsule daily (contains all the vitamins, minerals, and trace elements), two cups of green tea daily, two chewable calcium tablets for my osteoporosis (I think it's inorganic but I can't find the organic variety in Ireland), and a clove of raw garlic every second day. Lunch is a heap of cucumber, an apple, a clementine, and a banana. I also eat dark chocolate every now and again. Daily, I drink yoghurt with plant sterols (for my high cholesterol).

I've cut out coffee (which I really, really miss), sugar, bread, and cheese (which I also miss badly) and the only milk I consume is on my breakfast bran flakes. I don't eat butter.

Day 1: I had a dramatic drop in the number of tickles - down to less than 100 from well over 1, 000.

Day 2: Was not as good as Day 1 but I believe more insects are being driven out onto the surface of my skin and of course a new clutch of eggs "comes online" every day. I also noticed that urinating created lots of bubbly suds in the toilet bowl.

Day 3: Was the same as Day 2 except that the timings of my tickle onslaughts changed. Mornings were now much busier while afternoons were relatively peaceful until dusk. At full nightfall they quietened again until 8. 30, then got busy again till midnight when they started to taper off.

Day 4: Was the same as Day 3 except the suds disappeared from the toilet bowl and my urine was now pale green, the exact same colour as my sebaceous plugs.

Day 5: The suds returned with urine still green. But something happened that's never happened before: normally, I've always been able to halt a tickle onslaught on my scalp and face during the day by going outdoors into the light. At night, going outside into the cold air also stopped them (they love heat and relative dark - a demodex mite trait). The day was sunny but freezing cold with a high wind chill when I went out for my afternoon walk. The tickles continued unabated.

Day 6: I didn't go outdoors (rain) but the timings remained the same. Less suds and urine not so green. Tickles seem less intense and plugs that were hard and solidly embedded in my skin were now softer and could be fairly easily removed with a fingernail. The objects they contain are blackened and seem malformed. Fewer trips to the bathroom to brush wandering mites off my abdomen, groin, scrotum, perineum, and buttocks, and remove them from my anus. Almost all the astonishing amounts of scurf that used to coat the wash-basin when I washed my face and scalp (I shave my head nightly) has disappeared. My skin feels much softer and the orange-peel texture is fading.

Day 7 (today): Same timings but tickle numbers slightly reduced so far. Less suds and urine less green.

I seem to have plateau'd at a better but still unacceptable level and it's unclear how long I should continue with Ted's remedy. But since demodex females can live for up to 60 days, three months would seem a good idea.

Some people here reported adding a capful of hydrogen peroxide to the borax mix so I googled it and found nothing but warnings. Until I found this astonishing website:

http://www.foodgrade-hydrogenperoxide.com/id31.html

Don't bother reading the site or viewing the video but download the PDF file from the Free eBook link - it contains more information. Apparently, since 1888, doctors (and even some hospitals) all over the world have been using H2O2 (reagent or food-grade) orally, topically - and now via intravenous or intra-arterial infusions - to successfully cure (yes, cure) all sorts of serious conditions including cancers and heart disease that don't respond to radiation or drugs. Illnesses cured also include parasitic infestations.

The PDF contains a long list of American doctors (with telephone numbers) who regularly use H2O2 therapy with astonishing success rates. It even includes instructions on how doctors should proceed with this infusion treatment.

The PDF is free, the website sells nothing, and carries no ads.

I've ordered 35% food-grade H2O2 from the UK (http://bobbys-healthy-shop.co.uk/) as well as a countertop water distiller. I also emailed the site owner (James Roguski, who seems to be a scientist) to find out how best I should proceed. I'm still awaiting a reply.

Things are definitely better than they were before I started Ted's remedy but I propose to try the oral H2O2 as an adjunctive therapy to speed things up. If Mr. Roguski tells me that the oral route won't work optimally, I'm prepared to travel to the ends of the earth to find a doctor who will do this infusion technique. I've now been trying to deal with this 24/7 torture for two and half years, and thanks to the wonderful Ted, I've made significant progress. But I want these pests gone NOW so I can start trying to get my life back.

I've read Ted's warnings about drinking distilled water and they directly contradict the advice given by Vivian Goldschmidt MA (in Nutritional Sciences and Biochemistry) who runs a marvellous site for osteoporosis sufferers (http://saveourbones.com/) who advises us to drink only distilled water.

I'm taking my health back out of the hands of the quacks (doctors) who did so much damage to my health permanently and, to that end, I intend to drink food-grade hydrogen peroxide as well as baking soda for the rest of my life.

Now I just need to find a remedy for the chronic insomnia and tardive akathisia (inability to be still and constantly racing thoughts) due to brain chemistry damage inflicted by a year of Risperidone injections by the dermatologist who diagnosed delusional parasitosis. H2O2 is supposed to help rebalance brain chemistry. We'll see.

So that's where I am at the moment, still awaiting the delivery from the UK of my FG-H2O2 and my water distiller. I can't wait to get started...

Will keep you posted on progress.

Look up the cure for scabies. I think you mix something like borax and peroxide with water. This might help. Also, there is a borax solution you spray on furniture and carpets. Good luck!

Many thanks to Anon from Anon and to Susan from San Francisco for your responses and your very helpful tips.

I'm taking 1/2 teaspoon of baking soda in a half glass of water twice a day as well as the borax water. I'm going to try adding a capful of food-grade hydrogen peroxide to the borax water tomorrow.

This is now Day 3 and it's all definitely doing something. Day 1 was almost miraculous - tickles down from about 1, 000 a day to less than 100. Day 2 was not as good and I think I know why - this treatment seems to drive more mites out onto the surface of my skin. And of course every day sees a new clutch of eggs hatching.

I've been doing some more research on demodex and found out that while the males only live for 15 days, the females can live for up to 60 days. Which means I'll have to do this borax and baking soda regimen daily for at least three months to be sure of getting them all.

Also, I don't understand why so many posters here emphasise incessant cleaning of the environment when the demodex mite can only survive 24-38 hours if dislodged from the host. Plus, they can't fly or jump and they move very slowly (though they can speed up a bit in warm temperatures). Plus, you don't have to worry about eggs because they only lay them inside you.

For two years, I washed my clothes and bedding daily at 60 degrees Celsius (and sometimes 90) and dried them on high heat and it made absolutely zero difference to these mites because they can only live in your skin - all you'll kill with this regimen is any surface wanderers that get caught up in your clothes or bedding. All it did was destroy my stuff and cost me a fortune on electricity bills (money I don't have to spare). I also used to vacuum the entire house every day (and sometimes twice a day).

So now I sleep (or semi-sleep) on a rubber air-bed on top of a diatomaceous-earth-dusted latex mattress in a non-woven nylon-shelled sleeping bag (my pillow is a non-woven nylon bag stuffed with an old sweater). Every morning, I shake the sleeping bag and "pillow" out thoroughly in the garden and hang them on the wash line to air for a few hours (on wet days, I run them through the dryer on high heat for 40 minutes).

When I undress for bed, I shake out my clothes thoroughly, turn them inside out and do it again, then pack them into a double-sealed vacuum-pack plastic bag. Next morning I shake them out again before getting dressed. I only vacuum the rooms I actually use now once a week.

The only things I wipe daily are those I touch with bare skin - door and faucet handles, light and electricity switches, toilet seat and flush handle, computer keyboards and mice. Also, I never let my bare feet touch the floor and keep my fingernails as short as possible. And that's it - I don't have the time, energy, or ability to do any more because of my constant pain and the fact that virtually all of my life is now taken up with brushing these things off me.

Things are now no better nor no worse than they were before.

Specifics for Anon:

Vaseline: During my research, I read a post (can't remember where) from someone who had done this and it didn't work. But I came across another which recommended Vicks Vapor Rub on the most affected areas (which would be my entire skin). So I may give that a try.

Friends Help: When it became apparent that my home was infested and I had scabies, I told all my friends I wouldn't be seeing them for some time and informed them why. Two and a half years of solitude later, I have no friends. My brothers and sisters all believe I'm delusional because doctors are always right. And I can't afford to pay a nurse out of my pittance of a pension.

Since my first post, I've given this problem a lot of thought and what I do now is use the long-handled lotion applicator to get at just about all areas of my back, then wash as far down as my knees. (I've also ordered an exfoliation strap from the UK so I can get at ALL of my back). I dry off, then sit on a chair and wash my calves and use the lotion applicator for my feet in a plastic basin. I've superglued an old toothbrush to a plastic ruler and use that to do between my toes. It's a struggle but I can now just about manage to wash all areas of my body OK. It just takes me forever to clean myself like this (an hour and a half). Having to massage stuff into my skin for any length of time would be very problematic indeed though.

Specifics for Susan:

ACV plus borax water: I've ordered another five litres of ACV with mother so I'll have to wait till it arrives from the UK to try your recipe. The ACV is have left at the moment is only enough for internal use.

I've never been able to shower every day because I've always had extremely sensitive skin, even using Simple Soap (but I did it for a month twice a day when I had scabies and it almost killed me).

So what I would propose is to put your mix into a spray bottle and spray myself down nightly before bed.

Will this nightmare ever end?

Finally, a tip:

I've been in contact with the UK administrator of the Morgellons organisation (who has been an absolute angel for me) to see if they keep a list of sympathetic dermatologists and doctors for Ireland. They don't. But she gave me a recipe for exfoliation:

Mix plain green Fairy Liquid (dish soap - US equivalent would be Dawn) with fine table salt 50/50 and rub it into and over your skin. Leave it on for about five minutes, then rinse off.

When I came to rinse off, I initially thought that the soap must have penetrated my skin because it felt so slippery. Then I realised that this WAS my skin - all the dead stuff had sloughed off and it was like having brand new skin. I've now thrown out my exfoliation gloves (after immersion in boiling water of course).

Many thanks again to both of you. I'm exhausted. Bye for now.

I used the Borax water (1/2) and ACV (1/2) to get rid of the eggs under the skin. The ACV is the carrier and the Borax washes the protective coating off of the eggs and they die. I would shower every day (sometimes twice) and rinse off with the above mentioned solution. Bathe, towel dry off and then rub the solution all over (including your scalp and hair) and DO NOT rinse. Stand around for about 5-10 minutes and air dry). I stopped itching in a couple of weeks. I don't remember how long the adult mites live, but I put all of my consentration into getting rid of and keeping rid of the eggs. Put 1/8 cup of Borax in a gallon jug of water, give it a good hard shake and let it sit for about half an hour. The water will absorb all of the Borax that it can and you needn't worry about the little bit of risidual Broax at the bottom of the container. Good Luck!

Hi. Very sorry to hear of this. I believe I have something like this also. I have drank Borax in a liter of water as well as bathed in it. It has seemed to help, but my most success came from putting Hairever scalp treatment on infested areas, this can be purchased from Puritan's Pride. I also have been washing with a lye soap called grandmas lye soap and it seems to help. I have heard that you can lather yourself from head to toe with vaseline for several hours and it will smother these critters. When I use the scalp treatment I seem to have these black specks come out of my skin. I also have the white pimple like bumps that looks like larva.

About the borax- 1/4 tsp. It is simple. Just get some measuring spoons ( like the ones used for cooking ) And get the one that says 1/4 tsp, dip it in the borax and get a level scoop and add this to a liter of water and drink throughout the day. The spoons are called measuring spoons. ( availiable where you get kitchen supplies like cookware )

I would like to mention that I would do everything I could to get my ph alkiline. This can be accomplished with baking soda taken interally. Read this site for now on. I have been studing on Earthclinic.com now for several years and have barely scratched the surface of what all is availiable here. There is so much on here, I could not even begin to tell you.

The vaseline petroleum jelly would be worth a shot and I would most certainly use the scalp treatment on the infected spots. If you have black specks come out of your skin, then we are dealing with the same critters. The scalp treatment penetrates the hair follicles and gets deep into the pores. Rub it in the skin for several minutesand then let it sit on the skin for about five minutes and wash off with some lye soap and a wash cloth or something to wash away the dry skin.

On this site if you study, you will find that disease, parasites and sickness cannot live in an alkaline body. Tons of info here. Learn to navigate this website.

Best of luck! You can reply to me anytime, because I am a daily reader on here. And I always will be. So feel free to post questions or comments anytime with the reference to skin mites or something like that so that it will catch my attention. I don't read every post on here, but ones that catch my interest or that I have things in common with I do read.

Oh and use GOOGLE! For websites and referances to lye soap and puritanspride.com

In May, 2009, my mother died in the hospice ward of a decrepit hospital that allows and encourages wild animals into its grounds right up to the building itself.

When they returned her clothing, I found three neatly-folded hospital blankets at the bottom of the bag. They were caked with mud, animal droppings, bloodstains, and unknown debris.

From that bag, my home was infested with bedbugs and permethrin-resistant fleas, and I was infested with scabies. For almost a year, two pest control companies couldn't eliminate the fleas. I finally imported diatomaceous earth from the US and they all died in four days.

The scabies were also permethrin-resistant (Lyclear Dermal Cream and Derbac M all failed) so I tried Kleen Green. Inside a month I was clear.

But I was left with incessant tickles, "stinging, " and crawling sensations, as well as a little itching.

Two dermatologists and a psychiatrist diagnosed delusional parasitosis. None followed the protocols for making such a diagnosis, none would examine my photographic images, and I was given anti-psychotic injections (Risperidone) for a year without my knowledge or informed consent and instructed to ignore the sensations as they were just "transient itches."

For the full horror story, as well as many images of insects in hair follicles and sebaceous plugs, damaged and discoloured skin, please visit my website:

http://www.delusionalinsects.com

Thanks to a kind commenter on my site, I found Earth Clinic and all these possible remedies from kind and helpful people.

Thanks to the ludicrous delusional diagnosis, these insects have now had two and half years to spread over my entire body, from scalp to soles of feet. The only areas they haven't populated are the palms of my hands and my penis. I even have them in my anus, up my nostrils, and in my ear canals. My skin everywhere is dry, flakey, and itching has increased. Life is hell.

I've been drinking unpasteurised ACV "with mother" for over a month (three tablespoons in warm water taken with food three times daily) and have noticed only a very slight improvement.

I also take two heaped tablespoons of food-grade diatomaceous earth in a half-pint of water at about 7:30 each evening.

I shave my head and face every night before bed with shaving oil, then apply a moisturiser with aloe vera.

I was about to start spraying my body with a 50/50 dilution of the ACV when I found Ted's internal borax and baking soda remedy. I'm about to go mix up my first batch now but I'm a bit confused.

My questions:

1. How do you measure 1/4 of a teaspoon?
2. Another post here mentions adding a capful of 3% hydrogen peroxide to the water as well. Ted doesn't say to do this, so is it correct?
3. Ted's remedy on the Rosacea thread only mentions adding borax to the water - no baking soda. Why the difference?
4. In Ted's external borax remedy, he mentions using a "borax saturated solution" (what's that?) with 1% hydrogen peroxide but doesn't say what proportions of each to use. Anyone know the answer to this?
5. I'm 60 years old, osteoporotic, and partially disabled due to a spinal injury so there are parts of my body I can't reach. Consequently, I have to use a spray bottle or a long-handled applicator for my back. How important is it to massage this mixture into the skin? And how often should this external treatment be done?

Well, that's it for the moment. Thank you for your time, attention, and patience. I wish you all the very best of luck with these demons. And if you want to see the images the dermatologists turned their backs on, please check out my site.

Borax
Posted by Veronica H (New York, Ny) on 12/09/2011

Hi I wouldn't drink that thing.... THIS IS WHAT HAS WORKED SO FAR FOR ME.... AND IN ONE DAY ONE CAN SEE THE DIFFERENCE ALREADY.

My case: infestation of the whole apartment and clothing, including shoes and bath tub ( believe or not). My dog got canine mites, and I am super allergic to their bites ( note: there is a difference btw canine mites and human mites do research yourself)... and the worst is that I was sleeping with the dog so it got very very ugly.

1) Isolate the dog: do not let the dog sleep in your bed ever again.

do not let the dog sleep on sofas etc ever again.... dog has to be trained to his bed and his place in the house.

Bathe the dog with shampoo for mites ( 10 minutes) then apply tea tree oil and also apply revolution once every tree weeks for 6 weeks and then once a month for life as a prevention... a dog that dont have good immune system to keep his mites under control is very likely to get reinfected again and again.

2) research, research and research ( doctors and veterinary wont tell you the whole truth.. Bc they want you to be back and back... they will give you remedies but NO ONE WILL TELL YOU THAT IF YOU DO A EXTENSIVE CLEANING YOU WON'T BE EVER CURED OR IT WILL TAKE FOREVER AND A LOT OF MONEY.

In my special case I cured the dog first and then house and then shoes, clothing and also got rid of the mattress ( what a big difference that made... mattress are very hard to clean and even w/ a mite cover depending on the numbers that would not be enough.)

Meanwhile you are getting rid of mites buy yourself an air mattress they are much better to clean as the mite cannot hide in plastic.

3) SPRAY EVERYTHING WITH WINDEX ( you will need tons of this)

4) For awhile do not sit in the sofa.. Put the sofa up and spray the hell of it with a combination of windex and guess what... spider poison.

MITES ARE FROM THE FAMILY OF SPIDERS.. SO ANYTHING THAT KILL SPIDERS WILL KILL MITE.

eat and seat in places that can be easier to clean like a wood table or plastic, and plastic chair... Forget to be seated in sofas or anything w fabric... Anything like this should be put apart in one room and sprayed w windex and lysol if you want and plus the spider killer spray... Leave everything that is made of fabric apart.. Do not seat on it until is past 3 weeks.. so the bastards will be dead dead!!!

Everytime you're gonna seat on a chair, spray windex, eat on table spray windex BEFORE AND AFTER SEATING.

3)THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT... CLEAN FLOORS WITH A MIX OF WATER, BORAX, SPIDER KILLER AND BLEACH. DO THIS ONCE A WEEK. BUT ONE HAVE TO CLEAN THE FLOORS ONCE A DAY WITH BLEACH AND WATER...EVERYDAY.

CLEAN BATHROOM WITH SAME MIX ABOVE ONCE A WEEK INCLUDING BATHTUB... EVERYTIME YOU SHOWER SPRAY WINDEX, BEFORE LEAVING SPRAY WINDEX ON YOUR FEETS AND AFTER LEAVING SPRAY IT AGAIN.

4) CLOTHING:

CLOTHING SHOULD BE WEAR ONCE...

so put in plastic bags, one for white clothing and other for color.

bedding should be washed daily also... If you have airbed spray it windex before and after going to bed and in the morning when you wake up

wash the clothing with hot water and a mix with borax, bleach and soap. let it act 15 minutes in water before washing and also dry it hot for an hour or more.

5) PERSONAL CLEANING:

take shower twice a day: morning and night.

-if your head itches buy shampoo for lice that will kill them.

- buy soap for acne and take shower with it.

- When you are done... spray with lysol or windex your feet.

-I spray my body with alcohol and it kill them all...

acetone too is good.. That kills them very good on the skin.. for real nothing like acetone.

and then put tea tree oil all over you so run away!!!

then you can put permedrin that is what the doctor will prescribe you and some cream for the itching and take benedryl to help u to sleep at night.

IF YOU DONT CLEAN YOUR HOUSE , CLOTHING AND SOFAS ETC THIS WAY I AM TELLING YOU YOU WONT BE HEALED EVER. BC YOU WILL REINFECT YOURSELF ALL OVER AGAIN...

1st step: house, sofas dont seat on them, seat in easy to clean chair and eat in easy to clean tables..

2nd: get a airmatress if you feel you cannot clean your matress... clean the floor very well before using the new mattress.

3rd: I would get rid of bedding if the intensive cleaning is not working... Get new sheets and also new pillows... but first clean the room very well.

4th: clean yourself and desinfect yourself as many times a day as possible... I am carrying with me alcohol and spray on me everytime I feel something and it works wonders.

5th: whatever you cant clean sent it to dry cleaner and tell them to put poison on it, bc you have an infestation in the house... they know what to do.

clean wardrobes with windex and spider killer spray.

clean whatever place you are putting the clothing and spray the hell of it w windex and spider killer spray...

I DID ALL THIS IN ONE DAY AND FEELING A BIG DIFFERENCE.. MY GOAL IS TO GET RID OF THIS IN A WEEK!!!! I WILL I WILL FIGHT THIS BASTARDS!!!!!!! I HATE THEM!!!

Doctors or vets don't tell you this...RESEARCH!!!!!

Naturalhomeremedies, I would recomend the UV Ozone and other types filtration (get your indoor air as clean as possible with other types cleaners FIRST, then add the O3 for max effectiveness). I have read that people who have abnormally high levels of carbon dioxide from breathing are particularly affected by insects, as CO2 is the green light for host finding (that's how they detect your body). Consider taking MSM supplement and add extra garlic. BreathWork or Breathing therapy may help. Maybe add a few drops of H2O2 to beverage once a day to increase your oxygen levels. Hope this helps.

Yesterday I had a major set back and really confirmed that these mites come from out doors.

Yesterday, I had 2 guys over to clean my yard for the winter. Today was unseasonably warm for November. While I was standing out there telling them what to cut down - the ITCHINESS started. I could feel the mites on me, my face and hands got intensely itchy and I felt the crawling. When finally went inside, I stripped my clothes off at the door and jumped in the shower. Used the clay mixture (bentonite clay, Apple cider vinegar and borax) and massaged it in. More black specs surfaced. For the past couple of days, I have had this large crusty rash on my forearms. Concentrated my clay massage there, a couple of black specs surfaced.

On my face around my chin line and hair line, I have developed a crusty rash. All along my hair line I exposed a lot of mites. DISGUSTING. Covered my ears with clay mixture and let it lightly enter my ear canal, cleaned with a q tip, saw mites. Rinsed off and oiled down with coconut oil. Anywhere I felt specs I wipped them on a paper towel.

Since I am African American, I don't wash my hair everyday. I have natural, thick, long hair and am really considering cutting it short - will see. Massaged a lot of coconut oil and tea tree oil into my hair and scalp to relieve itchiness (only temporary relief).

Been outside a few times and each and every time, I get the mites on me. What is this pestilence? I live in a borough of New York City, not in the deep woods! This reminds me of the movie, "The Happening. " The plants and trees started to emit toxins into the air that made people kill themselves. The planet started to fight back, against the virus (mankind) infecting and destroying it. Or maybe with global warming, pathogens that stayed frozen in the Earth are now starting to come up and out with the warmer climates. Okay, time to get a grip again and pray more.

Noticing there are lots of people complaining about allergies and itchiness. I really believe that people are in fact not suffering from the usual suspects of allergies but actually having a reaction from these mites. They just take allergy medication to stop the itchiness and never realize they have mites. This gives these mites a chance dig in deep and cause all types of issues.

My house is a mess, it seems all I am doing is taking clay showers (which takes a long time), changing clothes, changing sheets, vacuuming and steaming floors beds and couches and trying to keep the dogs comfortable and minimize mites on them. Praying, praying, praying.

Just ordered a (imitation) HC zapper off eBay. Will start zapping me and my babies. Seems like that will be a continual process of zapping, since these things seem to be in the air or coming out the soil. If anyone has suggestions on zapping these things, please let me know.

Looking into a uv, ozone air purifier and a colloidal silver maker. Any suggestions on those is appreciated.

More and more I am realizing that I have had this thing for some time now. When I look at all the symptoms I have had they all point in this thing. I can just imagine what other pathogens are in me too.

Just experienced an extreme bout of itchiness. Tried coconut oil, didn't help this time. Got the Apple cider Vinegar and sprayed hair, face, neck and hands down - soaked them. Stung at first but now no more itching. Will have to go out and buy 2 more gallons. When ever I feel itchiness I now spray or wipe the area with ACV. Spray the bed down before getting in and spray the coaches down. The grocery store ACV works well on surface cleaning and for spraying the dogs down. Using the _____'s ACV internally for me and the dogs (expensive)

I pray that Jehovah God grant everyone else dealing with this the blessing of a cure.

First and foremost, I want to give thanks to Jehovah God for all things are possible through him.

I recently came down with an infestation of mites. I only discovered this after starting to feel like I was getting pelted by sand like specs on on my feet and legs in my home. Thought it was spring tails or bird mites or Morgellons. Regardless, I was itchy all over and felt crawling sensations from head to toe.

I scared myself half to death reading all the horror stories on the internet. The advice was trash your stuff and move! That is not the solution. Then I sprinkled Diatomaceous Earth over everything. Another bad move... It just made cleaning up everything twice as hard.

I started praying and found this site. Then it dawned on me that mites are everywhere, including on me. I can bomb everything, steam and clean 24 hours a day, trash everything and move 25 times and I still have the mites in my skin and hair. Once I realized that it more than an environmental issue (that bombing my house would not solve), or a pet issue (I have 3 dogs and read how people got rid of their pets or put them to sleep) I said a prayer and got a grip. I can encounter these mites anywhere. Pathogens like, germs, bacteria and viruses are in and on EVERYTHING. Our bodies constantly fight these invaders, the HEALTHIER our immune systems the more transparent the fight is. I had been neglecting myself and my health, so my immune system is compromised. So this was just the latest symptom in a long line of symptoms that I didn't address holistically. Just another sign that my body is out of balance. I encourage anyone going through this, to calm down and take charge of your internal and external health.

As I prayed for a cure and answers, I kept thinking - mankind has dealt with these things for a bazillion years. If they didn't get a handle on it - they would have all killed themselves a long time ago (from the agony) - but we are still here! So the answer is to go OLD SCHOOL on these parasites.

I took bentonite clay, mixed in borax and added a couple of tablespoons of bleach (I didn't worry about exact measurements). I added water to get less clumpy and got in the shower and started to scrub myself with it. I sat on the edge of the tub and took time to massage it into every part of my body. As I began massaging, hard black specks came up to the surface ALL OVER MY BODY. It was disgusting! Massaged more. By the time I was finished and rinsed off my skin was as soft as a baby's behind. I then took a herbal oil, I got in the discount store, that I had added Tree Tea Oil, Oregano Oil and Clove Oil and oiled myself down; really massaged the oil in and took my time. A few more specs came up; some white, some black. For the 1st time in many nights I sleep more than 3 hours.

The next day after I washed my hair, I put bentonite clay, borax and bleach in my hair as a mask and left it for 24 hours (used a plastic cap). My scalp stopped the crazy itchiness. Once in a while a spot would itch and I would just massage that spot on my scalp. The next day I rinsed my hair with Apple cider vinegar (ACV) that I left in. Then I oiled my hair with Sulfur 8 with clove, tree and oregano oils added in. My scalp stopped itching but my hairline, face and neck itched like crazy. So I soaked my face and neck with ACV and covered it with Virgin Coconut Oil (VCO) and Tree Tea Oil. Eventually the itching stopped. I also put VCO on my scalp.

The next night I scrubbed down with the clay mixture again and saw less mites come up to the surface then the night before. I have started drinking ACV and Betonite Clay and Grapefruit Seed oil. Drinking a lot of distilled or filter water. Brought cheap sheets and blankets (light or white colored) and change daily. Vacuum everyday. Change clothes daily. Steam floors every couple of days. On a personal note, I was washing everything daily and decided this was MADNESS. Just because I washed it, didn't mean it was going to stay free of these mites. As soon as I touched it, there is a chance I contaminated the clean laundry again, open the bag to remove clothes - contaminated. I can't keep mites or other pathogens off my stuff just like I can't keep germs, viruses or bacteria off me or my environment. I can cleanse my system and make it healthier so these things would no longer bother me. Trying to make my environment mite free was a fruitless pursuit. I was stressing myself out and making myself crazy and compromising my immune system further. Now I am focusing on cleaning and making my environment healthy and getting rid of clutter. This has been a wake up call - I got careless with my health. The allergies, rashes, etc. Were all symptoms that I masked with medications while not dealing with the real issue, my body was sick.

I have a large rash on my forearms, going to put the clay mixture on them and wrap with plastic wrap. Maybe sleep with a clay mask on my face. Have realized that anyplace I have a zit or dark pores needs to be treated with clay. Itchiness picked up this afternoon, wiped down with Apple Cider Vinegar and oiled down with VCO.

Have the dogs on ACV, DE and black walnut to cleanse their systems. Everyone is on probiotics and Wheat Grass to rebuild. Spray them down with ACV daily. So glad I did not come to the point of giving away my pets or putting them to sleep - unnecessary like throwing the baby out with the bath water. Just gave a doggie a clay bath tonight and saw the mites come off her too - will do the other two tomorrow.

Plan on buying a zapper, colloidal silver maker and uv air purifier. Will zapp to kill them in me and my pets and drink and spray colloidal silver around to kill mites. Including Greek yogurt mixed with extra probiotics daily. Eating macrobiotic and whole foods, no more soda, mickey D's or fried chicken for me.

Through all of this, I am grateful. I have been provided an opportunity to intensely work on my health, pets and environment. It will not be done in one day or 30 days. It is a process and I thank God for sites like this and all his great blessings that are carrying me through this. God is Great. The key for me is to live more conscientiously and holistically. Trust in Jehovah God and all him to guide your through this process. Peace, optimal health and blessings to all.

Looking forward to your suggestions.

Thanks for the help. What a mess and I am still in it. But, I did want to add as far as I know putting things like comforters in the freezer might kill them. It seems to have. So you won't have to throw away your nice things.

I just got some hemp oil from the health food store and wondered what is the best way to use it to enhance my efforts to rid myself of the internal bird mite infestation and/or possible morgellons? Should I use it in an oil pulling routine?

Please somebody respond soon. I have posted three times in the past two days, and would love some feedback.

Diagnosing Mites

Again, has anyone had success treating bird mites that have gone internal? I have altered my diet, gone more alkaline, no red meat, very little animal protein, MSM, vitamin c, cal/mag/zinc supplement, vitamin D, good yogurt, flaxseed oil and a multi-vitamin supplement. I am still infested, and want to begin the borax treatment, but am not sure what to expect...

Hi, I am suffering from a mite infestation, and want to begin the borax treatment. My question is that in order to increase alkalinity in my system, I have been drinking multiple cups of green tea per day for a few weeks now. In view of the flouride issue, should I stop doing this while taking the borax? Will it be counterproductive? I am also taking 300 mg of MSM per day. Will this do anything either beneficial or counterproductive?

My problem is mites. I picked driftwood from the beach for carving, and a week after or so I got quite a few strange bites. Now I only have the feeling of crawling insects all over when I am in bed or at the sofa. It is very irritating. Tried insect sprays, mite killer spray and tea tree oil. Not any betterment so far. I guess I will try the cure suggested here. The onion cure will be my first.

Good that you all write because this "thing" can make you crazy and obsessed and even depressed. Thanks to you all, Ase

Great question. I think this one is for Ted. I personally keep his borax solution in a spray bottle, and when I feel the itching or crawling or feel the sandy feeling, I spray the area thoroughly!

Borax
Posted by Phyllis (Goshen, Indiana) on 10/01/2011

I have read where borax is toxic.

DE (diatomacious earth) is taken from the bottom of the ocean as ground up clam shells etc.. It is very effective for killing all sorts of small creatures -spiders, mites, bedbugs, worms, snails and can be taken internally for this purpose also. It can be purchased at graineries in 50lb bags for only 50c lb usually but it must be the type used in grains to kill insects -otherwise it may have arsenic in it. It may help your problem.

One tlbs per 125 lb of body wt is a measure given. It can be taken with foods or juices every day. I take it once a week or so.

Mite treatment Sept. 2011

This treatment along with daily washing of clothing and bedding, vacuuming, will go a long way to help promoto a cautiously optimistic feeling.

Morning and evening use a toothbrush and scrub the area 2 to 3 inches around the punctures with a solution of Dawn Dish soap. This will reveal many more punctures than you can otherwise see.

Soak in a bath of apple cider vinegar and epsom salts.

Brush the skin with a soft brush -whole body while in the tub. Pat dry

Treat punctures with Ox-e Drops ( Nyzme. com) or bleach solution ( 1 part bleach to 10 parts water.)

Apply Black Walnut tincture on a Q-tip to punctures and surrounding area. ( an anti parasite) dry skin with hair dryer.

Apply cortizone cream, or healing ointment, zinc ointment etc. Dust skin with Gold Bond powder.

Internally, take 5 drops of Black Walnut tincture in water three times a day. also 1 tablespoon Apple Cider Vinegar with maple syrup in glass of water twice daily.

Bentonite, 1 tablespoon in water will assist intestinal track to cleanse. (from health food store)

Have used this treatment successfully.

Picked up the mite in California somehow?

Borax
Posted by Beablessing111 (Napili, Hawaii, Usa) on 09/30/2011

Hello Earth Clinic,

Thank you for the info on using Borax for mites. I'm on day 4 of drinking 1/8 tsp in liter of water & 1/8 tsp baking soda sipping thruout day. Wow, what a difference!

But could you give some additional information? How do you deal with the actual mites that come crawling out of your skin. ? Whats the proper protocol? None of the posts I read, mentions anything about this important step. Some were coming out of my left tear duct yesterday - what a weird sensation. I didn't know what to do: leave them alone & try not to itch; wipe with some solution; rinse with water, what? I also have some coming out in various areas on my face as boils. I've been spritzing a borax/peroxide/water solution directly on my body at night then shower in the morning. That seems to help a lot.

Thank you for your response I await anxiously!

'... What kind of remedy do you spray on carpet and furniture that is safe? I have cats and dogs as well as snakes. I don't want to harm them. Jenn'

Jenn, you might try cat flea spray with a 3-4 month insect-growth regulator. First try it diluted with water, even as little as 4:1; that is 4 parts water.

Not that I like any of this stuff. But a few drops in a couple tsps of water cured earmites in one of our indoor-outdoor hunting cats after olive oil failed to do the job. An hour or so later I rinsed his ears with OTC sterile ear cleaner.

The mites have not returned in over a year.

Cat insecticide products are said to be safe for dogs but not the other way around. I'd keep the snakes off the rugs for a few days.

Take Rx Ivermetctin-single dose, may repeat in 7 days. If you don't get rid of the source it will never go away! Here are my tips for dealing with mites. To clean yourself: Mites hate menthol, sulphur or salts. Shampoo your hair with Head & Shoulders with menthol-main ingredient is pyrithione zinc. Lather your hair first, put in ear plugs, baby oil your face & eyelids- then get in a bath of 1 cup epsom salts & 1 cup borax. Add baby oil-the oil slick keeps mites from escaping the tub. The mites will try to creep up into your hair, but you've already lathered it. Soak 20 min-1 hour. THEN get into the shower, re-wash with sulphur based soap-like Walgreen's Purifying Bodywash. Rinse hair with vinegar. Oil skin with baby oil or skin so soft-do private areas first, because the mites will run like crazy away from the oil. Sprinkle Gold Bond Powder (menthol) between the sheets.

To clean house: Wash everything in hot water daily-clothes-linens. Everything else goes in a plastic bag x 3 days. Vaccuum your bed, get mite proofed casings for mattress, boxsprings & pillows. Throw out all feather pillows/ comforters. An air purifier reduces food source for mites. Wipe walls/baseboards with vinegar. Spray baseboards with an insecticide. Throw out magazines/newspapers. De-clutter, clean daily. Whenever you feeling crawling-get into the shower & scrub! Don't be lazy and you'll be free of mites in no time!

For months I could not figure out why I kept getting these small scabs on my wrists. I would notice them from time to time and could not remember how they got there. Then I slowly began to notice that my wrists, arms, eyes and head began to increasingly itch. It finally dawned on me that this was some kind of mite that I must have picked up from our neighbor's dog that we had looked after when they went on vacation. I figured it was from the dog, because they had to shave the dog's fur due to some kind of "skin condition" .

In any case, once I determined the problem I came to this site and tried some of the remedies and combination of remedies listed here. What I tried and what is finally working is this. It seems you do have to keep after these little buggers relentlessly. I started out using tea tree oil*, then neem oil, then sea buckthorn oil. They all helped a little but not enough to get rid of them completely. For me, what seems to have been working lately is a multi-remedy approach.

1.) I laundered my towels after each use. I changed my bed linens each night. When I washed my linens, towels and clothes I used hot water. I tried not to wear anything that required a delicate or cold water wash. My clothes were worn once and then washed. I used our normal laundry detergent, but I added about 1/4 cup to 1/2 cup of Borax to each load.

2.) I lightly dusted food grade diatomaceous earth* everywhere that I spent a lot of time that had some kind of fabric covering. I sprinkled it on the carpet near my bed and chairs, on my chairs and sofas, my mattress, on the mattress pad, in my pillowcases and on my sheets. I even dusted it on my legs and arms.

2.) I started taking 1 Tbsp of food grade diatomaceous earth* dissolved in a glass of water daily. At first I took 1 T in the morning and 1 T in the mid afternoon. After a couple of weeks I tapered off to 1 T at night. Some people are unable to sleep after taking it, but it actually helped me sleep better. I did this for 30 days. Once I started taking this the scabs and itching became more noticeable on my arms and legs. It seems it was bringing whatever mites were under my skin to the surface. I was really scratching then, but at least they were on the run.

3.) For relief, I covered my eyes in organic coconut oil. I did not pour it in my eyes, I just applied it externally to my lashes and brows. For the rest of my body, every day and night I applied, externally, some bentonite detox clay (the kind you take internally) everywhere that it itched. I would even daub the bentonite clay on my scalp where it itched. It will leave a thin film of clay on your skin and may look and feel dry but it definitely relieves the itch. I would then shampoo my hair every day with tea tree oil shampoo. On occasion I would daub tea tree oil* wherever I felt the itch.

It has been a little over a month now and they seem to be gone, but I will continue my treatments, for a while until I am absolutely certain they are gone.

*Please note that some people will react to tea tree oil. It did not bother me, but it can be an irritation to some. Also I underline food grade diatomaceous earth as that is the only kind you can take internally or allow to touch your skin. I know this has been mentioned before, but it bears repeating that there a two kinds of diatomaceous earth and you need to be certain that you get the food grade kind. You can usually find all of these remedies in your local health food store or online.

there is a mycoplasma going around that allows these mite to live on people and animals the remedie is because the mycoplasma feeds from frontal lobe and ammonia and some acids symptoms can be mites, aligator legs, pink spots, weight gain, fatigue, lesions, insomnia, malnutrition, depression, swollen glands, headaches, walking nemonia, nervous condition etc. The cure is a slice of onion on forhead for several weeks changing onion only when it is dryed up and not plyable hold it there with sweatband put napkin over it to avoid ridicule, if that the problem you will feel it working after as little as a week for comfort de earth in between legs. the mites go when this mycoplasma dies. cure same for pets. you may need buy dog hat for them to keep it on.

Hello, Fast solution for clothing mite cleaning:

Just put them into the microwave oven, always with a cup of water (so you prevent a fire! ), this for 1min 30 or 45 seconds.
