I had mites for almost two years. At first I had no idea why I was itchy tickley. I found this website and it was clear what was wrong.
I tried the borax under water with a snorkel etc., the mustard scrub in my soaps and swabbing with alcohol and tea tree oil, all gave some relief but did not get rid of the mites.
In June of last year at the coersion of my family I stopped taking HRT (mainly for hourly hot flashes) and started a couple of other things. I started taking Boron pills once in the morning and once before bed. I also took a sauna at the gym for 20 minutes 4 times a week. After about a month the tickles were gone, not in my nose, eyes, eyebrows or scalp.
I occasionally get itches on my head but nowhere else. I am not sure which one of these things got rid of them because it happened all at once.
Thank you for providing this excellent information. I am going bananas with these mites! Could you see yours? I just see black flecks (mite poop?) on my sheets. I'm the only one in the house that has them. Nothing seems to work. Washing sheets, vacuuming, washing floors daily. I haven't slept through the night in months. I would love to hear if you got rid of them for good!
I have had fantastic results treating mites and sores that won't heal with dry mustard. What I do is mix 1 teaspoon cold water to 1 teaspoon dry ground mustard. Stir well. Let stand for 10 minutes. Then add about 2 teaspoons coconut oil and mix well. Next add 2-3 ounces of a good lotion, mix well. Then I add about a teaspoon of glycerin and mix well. The dry mustard will burn your skin if too much is used. I also mix the mustard mix with a antifungal shampoo (head and shoulder). Wash my entire body and hair with shampoo mix and let stay on skin a few minutes. Rinse well. After drying off I put the lotion mix on my entire body. I have used lotion several times a day at the beginning. I put it on my face at night, putting thick on eyebrows. Right before bed, I lightly put on eyelashes. But be careful if you use by eyes. Mustard will burn the heck out of your eyes if it gets in or very close to them. Store bought Prepared mustard will not work. And I will repeat: MUSTARD CAN AND WILL BURN YOUR SKIN IF USED TOO STRONG.
I have been very unhappy. I have gone to the doctor been give way to much money. To the pharmaceutical. Side of this. A guess what now apparently. I need "some one to talk to. Ugh.. Its been 4monrhs now I ache All the time my vision has gone way out there they said there's no reason for it. I have list my job after being home for about 2 months without pay and I am so miserable. At night I would sell a kidney o and by the way I am truely offended by the medical community. As a whole just because you can't figure it out does not say I'm crazy... Ok I vented and feel much better

Have been suffering with skin problems for years it was especially worse on my face. Itchy eyebrows and ears.and a crawling sensation at night it looked so bad some days I would'nt even leave the house. had a skin biopsy done and it came back as demodex mite infestation. had no idea they had been causing my eye problems as well blepharitis, eye lashes falling out, dry & irritated eyes and blurred vision. my pores are enlarged & my skin is wrinkled with broken capillaries. have been taking doxycycline tablets for 2 months with no success tried the permethrin 5 times 4 days apart didn't make any difference. even tried 50/50 tea tree oil solution from head to toe for 2 weeks helped a bit with the itch but did kill them. am now trying benzyl peroxide has helped the itch on my face a lot. if this doesn't eradicate them completely I've ordered a product that is primarily used for animals for demodetic mange but I've been reading online lots of story's from people using it to cure their scabies and demodex infestations seems to be the only thing that really works when all else fails. has 73% sulfur 25% mineral oils and 2% pine oil from what I've read you should cut it down 50/50 solution with any essential oil or zinc oxide so its more tolerable with your skin at this stage I'm willing to try anything! You can order it from amazon or I got mine from e-bay.

I agree - a bath tub full of a saturated borax solution is one spendy bath!
Old Robert Henry reported success by using extreme heat in a sauna- took about a week he said [scroll down and look for his posts, he talks all about it.]
So you could try very HOT soaks in the tub with a face towel saturated with borax/hydrogen peroxide or borax/vinegar.
I've found quite a few good remedies and suggestions for dealing with mite / demodex infestations. But most involve "spot treating" different areas of the body.
One of the most helpful suggestions I've found is to take a bath 100% submersed with a snorkel. This way, all mites, including those that can hide in the eyes, ears, scalp, etc, are going to be treated.
Can anyone give suggestions on WHAT TO PUT INTO THE BATH??
Borax seems like a good idea, but it would take a lot to saturate tub full of water.
~Thanks for all your help my fellow earth clinicians!
This question is in reply to "Mama In 'bama from Al, Usa" 's post" (we took 100% submersed baths using A SNORKEL. Yep, a diving snorkel we found at a national retail store for just a couple of dollars. Worked PERFECTLY! "
Mama, what did you put in your bath water? Or was it just a regular soap and water bath?

BUGGED, did everything you suggested to little avail. MD's are useless with these things. Mites die in 120 degree heat. I heated my FIR SAUNA to 160 degrees and was cured in a week. Some folks have used hair dryers.

My experience with demodicosis is with dogs - not people. I have tried unsucessfully to verify the stories I read on the internet where people say they 'caught' demodex from their dogs. There are many stories but only 1 verified incident of a zoonotic transmission, and in that case it would appear the dog caught it from a child. [Note: in the plentiful stories on the internet the cases are not verified, the species not identified, so you cannot say for certain that the species that infected a particular dog infected the person who handled the dog who also broke with demodex.]
The only 'sure fire' way to diagnose demodicosis is by using a microscope - it doesn't need to be super powerful as demodex mites are fairly large. Keep in mind that *most* of the time the demodex mites leave peacefully on their hosts; its when the hosts body is .. out of tune in some way... that the mite populations are permitted to over grow which then trigger symptoms in humans.
The mites are typically active at night; afflicted people report feeling them crawl on their skin [the mites come out of the follicles to mate] - and the by products of the mites - their wastes and when they die their decomposing bodies - appear to be what creates the intense itching some individuals experience.
You can google "demodex in humans" and then select the IMAGES tab to see pix of folks with demodex related rosacea and acne.

Some info on demodex since you are info gathering!
Demodex mites are species adapted, which means while there are many species of demodex mites, the ones found on dogs only live on dogs and the ones found on cats only live on cats, etc. There are two species found on humans - D. folliculorum and D. brevis. The species is not zoonotic - you can't catch demodex from your dog, however there is one documented instance where a boy and his dog both had the same species of demodex - folliculorum; in that case it appeared the child gave the demodex to his dog.
Thanks for sharing Guyb. In wanting to help others, I've found that Demodex mites manifests differently in everyone, and that - most likely - there are many different species. Can you please share what your symptoms / manifestations were before you treated? How did you discover that it was indeed a mite infestation (demodex)? Many Thanks.
Try the following, nothing else worked in my experience, but this worked:
1) 100% tea tree oil
2) 100% alcohol Buy large quantities. Mix the two; apply to every itch. Apply to eyebrows and eyelashes, but be especially careful using alcohol near your eyes!
3) Neem oil. Add some to bath ; it will bring them out of the hair follicles. Don't bathe before bed, because all the young ones will come out and start to itch, so you need a couple of hours to treat them. Adding nice smelling essential oils will help neutralise the bad odour of the neem oil . Submerge head fully.
4) Bleach Add a few capfuls to bath for immediate relief, but not to be used more than once every few days. Wash your clothes and bedding every day.
If you're reading this, you're probably going through hell. I feel for you. Doctors probably won't help, so don't waste your time. It took me months to work this out, but trust me, this should help you get your life back. Good luck :)

Mite Infestation: Here is what some sufferers did with dry mustard powder... I'm going to try it too... Body wash: I mixed one level teaspoon of mustard powder using a measuring spoon with another of cold water, mixed well into a runny paste, and allowed it to stand for 10 minutes to allow the mustard to develop its full potency. To this, I added four ounces of body wash and mixed it thoroughly to ensure a homogenous result. Body lotion: I used the same amount of mustard powder and water, mixed it well with three ounces of hydrating body lotion, and added five drops of glycerine, then mixed again thoroughly.
ALSO...lint roll clothing you were next to your skin, before wearing it; put all dirty clothes and clean clothes in plastic bags tied shut... Keeps bugs in and will keep them out too; use diamotaceous earth... (found at lawn and garden depts or at hardware stores... Try the 85% if you can get it; otherwise 77%) to powder your garbage, floors, etc. MMS, by Jim Humble, kills them in the house. I did this. 10 to 20 drops of activated MMS (look it up you'll see how) plus 16 oz of ACV in a spray bottle... Keep spraying daily! It works after awhile. Can also spray this on yourself. ALSO dry your clothes, then take them out, spray them with this mixture, and dry them again... It kills the bugs in them. My son told me about that. MMS is cheapest on ebay. WATCH out with scratching itchy places... I have felt things fly up and hit my face when scratching my foot... spray MMS mix and/or power DE (diatomaceous earth) all around when you have had to scratch.
ALSO...tincture of clove on the bandaid overnight kills a new bug bite; tea tree oil on the bandaid overnight and/or all day leaves a scab there also... but I think tincture of clove is stronger; I just can't afford everything, right? I have more rashes now than bites, so I'm treating areas.
Okay, I hope some of this helps. I also am using hydrogen peroxide, 2 oz with 40 drops of tea tree oil on my rashes... I spray it directly on and also on panty lines which I tape over the rashy area. On the private area I use a mix of Dollar Tree buttpaste, raw coconut oil (think foodstamps lol), tea tree oil (10 drops per TBS of coconut oil), and chest rub from dollar tree (no chems in that one). For some reason, it keeps the itching down PTL.
Trying pine tar soap, but living in a tent and using someone else's bathroom, due to my abusive family and this problem combined... so it's difficult.
Stay focused... This is your mountain right now... climb and gather your strength, k?

I did the acv, but by itself it was only bringing some relief for me, I started using the teatree in olive oil for my showers, still only some relief, after reading over and over to dry my clothes in hot setting, I decided to dry my self the same, with my hair dryer.. It burnes some so I have to keep moving it around, but my skin is mostly healed, mostly only my legs are left, but my torso and back are almost clear, when I first started it burned and itched like the acv, but once it started to heal, the itched was not so bad! My skin gets pink from the heat, and very dry :( but I follow with coconut and olive oil with some tea tree in it. hope this helps someone.
These mites don't mess around. I still have them. Sometimes they "run" with Cheyletiella mites, and you can get rid of those on your pets with a "spot-on" flea treatment that's pretty expensive, but not these mites that I have. They survive pretty much everything. (Personally, I'm doing a lot of praying about it. ) Here are some things that really work for comfort. 1) air mattress, 2) synthetic underwear (nylon, etc), 3) Menthol dandruff shampoo (comes in a blue bottle) or generic equivalent, 4) Vaporizing rub (that comes in a blue bottle and smells like menthol) or generic equivalent, for feet, privates, nose if it itches, at night. I even rub it around my eyes lightly if they're bugging me at night, 5) Foot powder -- Blue bottle with menthol. (Good in baby diapers, too, when mixed with regular baby powder. Start with 80% baby powder, and 20% foot powder. ) But I put it everywhere on myself. It has menthol so its cooling, but the buggers HATE MENTHOL. It lasts the night. I've mixed it with Diatomacious earth before also. Buy DE at a vet supply place online, because its cheaper. Use a dry sponge to pat it on yourself or a powder puff. You can put it directly on dogs, but not on cats unless you mix it with A LOT OF diatomacious earth. Cat's livers cannot handle too much peppermint, menthol, essential oils, etc. I just don't use any of that on a cat. (The DE doesn't get the bugs out of the house though. ) 6)And finally, turpentine and lotion. That stuff works, but smells a bit. DO NOT use this on a cat! But, I've used it for 3 years now. Nothing harmful. I buy "pure turpentine from tree resin" in a green can at big home improvement store ($7). I mix it 30/70, turp/lotion. No itch. At first, you turn pretty red and it hurts, because of the trails under your skin, but give it an hour and it gets less red. If it keeps hurting, wash it off and try again later. Take a shower with the shampoo for soap, too. I tried Ted's vinegar/borax solution dip for a long, long time, but once they're in your house, forget it. I still wash with 1 cup Borax in each load though. It's cheap. Try to get synthetic blankets and clothes, too. (I mean you can't replace your whole wardrobe, but those bugs love cotton, so avoid it. If you use borax in wash and don't wear things more than twice, it gets less itchy. A lot less. Don't throw your clothes away. Just don't wear them for a while) DE-XXXX additive for laundry works.($50/bottle on Amazon, "laundry additive, de-"). It has some stuff is poisonous in it, so don't use it on people or animals. Not for hair, nothing but clothes and linens. This stuff is really poisonous, okay? But it works on clothes really well. Unfortunately, I still have these bugs, but I'm much less freaked and more comfortable. Now, at least I sleep at night, too. I think God is merciful to those who pray and wait. Those who hope in him, so I pray for answers. I've tried A LOT of things (pesticides to the tune of $6000), but nothing worked. It seemed to aggrevate them. I even tried cedar sprays with no success, so don't waste your money. This is what I've discovered anyway and I hope it helps until you can get rid of them.
Please HELP me! I believe by the resesrvh I've been doing on the internet this week that I have mites in my apartment. I don't see anything but alwahs feel them on my feet, legs, hair, seams of shirt, hands, waistline... Everywhere. At first I thought it was fleas-which I really wish it was-but I bombed my apartment and had my cat checked but didn't help. I can't get any sleep because I can feel them all over me after laying in bed after a few hours of sleep. Please someone help!! I have bought listerine, windex, borax and tea tree oil and washed all clothes (that were not hanging in my closet) sheets and comforters everryday and put a waterproof mattress lad cover with a zipper around my mattress-not my boxspring though. I have called 2 doctors and yeah... No help there. I got a prescription for permitium lotion but I don't think I will use it because most people said it doesn't work against these mights and some people have gitten sick after 2nd dose. I have NO bites marks on my body but feel them constantly and its basically killing me. I can't eat or sleep and can't afford to keep buying all thus stuff to "try"and see if it'll work nor can I afford to shower 2/3 times a day and do laundry constantly. PLEASE PLEASE HELP ME!!
To get the larvae and mites out of your clothes, simply stuff all the clothes into a big plastic bag, tie it air tight and leave it be for approx. 48hrs. Then wash them all at around 60 degrees c. The mites should die without food in about 2 days but to be sure, wash them at a high temperature. After that your clothes should be fine! Good luck!
On August 15, 2013, I replied about mites. Search on here in the search box for Rebel and look for that date. I told about Cayenne Pepper and so scalp therapy oils for these things. Cayenne Pepper 30, 000 HU. Start slow 1/8 teaspoon once a day in maybe V-8 juice and work your way up from there. Lots black specks from my skin, became very very few after about a month of Cayenne. Rebel
I do also believe I have a mite infestation. Been going on over a year. Even moved and got rid of lots of furniture. Unfortunately, it came with us. I have lost 40 pounds and other heath issues since this whole nightmare started. Have spent thousands of dollars on exterminators, Dr. Bills. All the drs. stated all in my head. My question is Denatured Alcohol different than the regular rubbing alcohol you buy at the store? For we tried that and that only helped temporarily. Back feeling bites within less than hr.?

Hi All! All of you need to get neem oil, cedarwood oil, tea tree oil, peppermint oil and virgin coconut oil.
Mix neem, cedar, peppermint (10 drops each oil) in some coconut oil. Apply this from head to toe. Cedarwood would suffocate the bugs and their larvae. Neem is a neuro toxin of some sort ONLY on them and not you. It makes them lose appetite for food and sex. If the eggs catch a bit of neem they become sterile. Peppermint calms the itchy bites. Coconut oil is a natural anti bacteria and virus. Apply this mix after shower. During the shower - use a shampoo with added teatree oil, neem oil and cedarwood oil.
Vaccum the house. Then mop the house with the same mix of oils in the mopbucket water.
Spray your bed mattress and wooden frame with the above oils added to the water. Best is to fogg the house with cedarwood oil and neem oil. Kills everything from bedbugs, lice, mites, fleas- the lot! For those who have the dried up skin that the mites have used.... apply apple cider vinegar and then 10 minutes later apply lavender essential oil too. All the best!
Cayenne really helps, I drink it every day in a soy/black tea mixture. I also add EmergenC and some tumeric. I drink it on ice, it tastes good. Also, I use a liquid band aid over the mite burrows which stops the hatched mites from escaping. It takes a few days of keeping the spots sealed but they will eventually die and heal up.
To Fran in Atlanta GA: Your symptoms sound much like patients who have a condition referred to as "Morgellons. " You can google it but basically most people with this are experiencing some type of mite or insect infestation of the skin. (Whether Springtails, mange or Dermodex mites, etc.). Most people come into contact with these insects and naturally repel them but many others who have immune issues cannot.
If you get on Face Book, you can look up a site called "Morgellons Is No Laughing Matter, " and read postings of others with your symptoms.
Also, Borax, Bleach, Windex, etc. Are toxic - especially in regular doses. Remember, if you put it ON your skin - it goes IN your body. While it may be a temp fix - it is not something people should do longterm as that just adds further burden to the immune system which causes the body to have even less ability to fight the infestation off.
Here are some healthier and I believe, more effective options:
> Sulfur powder (you can get this by ordering "MSM Powder" on a wholesale site like vitacost dot com) & take internally with glucosamine & chondroitin).
Sulfur mixed in pure lotion (no additives, perfumes, or chemicals) and rub onto all affected areas.
You can buy a product by "Trimedic" that is 15% sulfur/MSM and rub it into areas.
> Pure Organic Cold Pressed NEEM Oil - this can be mixed with sulfur product and rubbed into affected areas - it is also great for scalp and you can use it in shampoos, liquid soaps and conditioners.
> Pure organic tea tree, cedar, Lavendar, mixed with a small amount of Virgin/organic Coconut Oil is very healing to bites and lesions. DO spend the extra money for the organic though...
> Gold Bond Menthol Powder (great for mixing into hair/scalp) and Gold Bond Menthol Lotion
> 3% peroxide can be rubbed into areas after showers or baths but be sure to wash your finger tips as it can burn them a little - but will flush out the bites/organisms
3% Peroxide is a great substitute for Windex - not toxic to your system so you can use it on surfaces (plastic, glass, metal). Alcohol with few drops of essential oils is also great for cleaning and clearing areas.
Use the Neem oil on Wood Surfaces.
Use the Borax to wash your clothes in hot water with about 10-12 drops of one of above essential oils. Rinse with Hot water & Dry on Hot.
If your microwave is large enough and a newer model with large rotating glass table; you can put smaller pieces of clothing loosely onto table and zap for 30 to 90 seconds - making sure that the table and item is turning and doesn't stick to the right side where all the heat accumulates. Don't put anything aluminum or metal in though!
Small blankets & sheets can be sanitized this way as well just watch the time and the process - keep things moving and away from the hotter side of the metal wall.
Plastic zippered mattress protectors are essential and should be wiped down each morning or before bed time with alcohol spray or peroxide spray with half dozen drops of essential oils (in spray).
Sheets & blankets can be spritzed and placed in HOT dryer for at least 60 to 70 minutes.
It's okay to clean skin with peroxide or enzymes but ultimately you don't want it to dry out because it becomes more vulnerable to organisms & irritants. So use the NEEM oil mixed with a little of the Coconut Oil & few drops of essential oils (and, you can add the sulfur to this too) on your skin and if necessary, your scalp.
> Colloidal Silver & Organic Aloe Juice (50 to 50 ratio) can be applied to scalp with dropper and rubbed in gently with fingers for soothing irritated skin & bites. Same for skin after or before shower.
This mixture can be taken internally - just make sure the silver has low PPMs (10 to 30 PPMs max). One TBSP every few hours can be effective.
Three other products to help skin:
> Florasone Itches & Rash Cream
> PRID salve (mix this with sulfur and coconut/Neem oils & will help to draw out matter)
> SeaBuckthorn Oil and/or soap
It's so important to address the internal health as that is a direct manifestation of the external conditions.
1) Sleep - get as much as you can whenever you can.
2) Moderate (non traumatic or impacting) exercise - the circulation of blood & oxygen boosts your immune system and helps fight off the infestation.
3) Reduce Stress - exercise, quiet room w/low lights and relaxing music. 4) Deep breathing (good for relaxing & helps promote better oxygen flow), ETC.,
5) De-tox your diet. Don't eat any 'white' (bleached) or processed foods. Avoid white sugar and high fructose corn syrup. Eat more green vegetables in salads and, slightly steamed. Lean, free-range (antibiotic & hormone free) meat & dairy in small portions.
6) HYDRATE - 80 to 100 oz of purified or Spring water daily. (Non-caffeinated teas & organic juices count).
7) Avoid all GMOs, hydrogenated oils (trans fats such as margarine), artificial ANYTHING and fast food - horrible for these conditions.
8) Watch your pH levels; most of us with chronic conditions or compromised immune systems have higher acidic levels. Eat higher alkaline foods such as organic watermelon, lemons, fresh spinach, blueberries, etc... You can search sites that have pH food charts & put on your fridge.

So, how long did l leave the lamp oil on? 24 hours, as l was infested head to toe. By the way, as you feel the redness and burning, that is the mites getting smothered, reacting the way they always do to different treatments that were effective. It will subside, and then you can wash it off if you want. l have very long, thick hair, and after l showered, l washed my hair as usual, and used a deep conditioner to counteract the drying effect of lamp oil. I used it twice a week on my scalp until l killed all the eggs hatching out. used lamp oil solidly for most of a year before l recovered my strength enough to clean and treat the whole house at once, and never noticed anything bad other than having to put shea butter on my heels and elbows daily. What have l tried? Probably every treatment listed on Earthclinic up to my last post in 2012, except a zapper or sauna. From experience, the mites l had were long lived, one week in a plastic bag would only have let them spread more. D. Gallinae can live 9 months off humans.
Spraying the house and cars with denatured alcohol with a little pennyroyal or cloves, 12-15 drops in a gal sprayer worked well. All l need help with is how to convince those relatives in denial that they have mites since they are not allergic to the mites like l am. Also, they are smokers, so do not experience much intense itching, as the tobacco acts like a repellant. They still wake up at 3 or 4 am regularly, confused as to why they are waking up. Now, my dogs were bathed with Ted's borax/peroxide baths and if my relatives re-infect them seriously l have given liquid ivermectin... 1 milliliter per pound on the insides of their ears, or on their stomachs (l have small 7 lb dogs). It's ok if they lick it, but take note that mites, like all living things will become immune to ivermectin if overused, or used regularly. It is in my arsenal of last resort. For human ears, Ivomec Eprinix mixed with a little dmso, it will kill mites. Put a few drops in one side, let it stay until the tingling subsides, then the other ear. L lay my head on the kitchen table. Do not stop the ear with cotton, you want them to come out of your ear. L rinsed my ears with a baby ear syringe and 10% vinegar water in my bath later that night. Best wishes to you all.

I have found after suffering -and trying assorted remedies this has WORKED
for mite infestation - denatured alcohol in a spray bottle all areas - couches, beds, floors , mats outside of doors and carpets wont hurt or stain fabric or leathers evaporates quickly
15.00 a gallon at most home centers -get enough to do it twice depending on the size of your house and how many beds , ect (i used aprox a gallon per application 1200 sqft house )make sure all your windows are open when you spray -hope I dont need to say... Don't smoke while applying or near open flame. It kills the buggers instantly and the second time gets the offspring that were eggs.
do it twice 4-6 days apart
almost instant relief- breakes the mite lifecycle
Bathe in Dr. Bonners peppermint casile soap 3 capfuls to a bathtub 1 time a dayand within 1-2 days you will start to heal with no new bites
As I said this WORKS is relatively inexpensive and saves you from having to hear it's all in your head - you are crazy, you cannot see these lil buggers with the naked eye but they bite and burrow lay eggs move and do it again so I hope my experience helps some of you desperate to be free from this.

I think I may have them. So upset. So itchy!!! It started itching worse when I took the borax internally. Am scratching my chin and back raw. Bath in borax does not help. How did u know u had them? What did the cayenne do and how long did it take?

I suffered with birdmites for about 1.5 years. Here is what worked: 3-4 drops of concentrated oregano oil under the tongue (sublingual) before bed. Do not swallow this. It is absorbed into the bloodstream via blood vessels under the tongue. More is not more effective. This will stop the biting at night. Two products made by a company called NuSkin. One is simply called Immune Formula, the other is AE10. Take them together as directed on the labels. I had to take these for about 6 months. You have to take a drug holiday for 2 weeks in between taking them daily. It is good to take some yogurt each day to keep intestinal flora alive while taking these formulas. Put any mites you pick off yourself or clothing on masking tape. Keep wide masking tape everywhere--next to bed, in car, bathroom, etc. The stickier, the better.
Daily vacuuming of home and car. They colonized my keyboard at work, so I wore surgical gloves while using my computer. Also, daily bathing. Some instant (but temporary) relief can be obtained by applying Listerine externally head-to-toe before showering. Baths with Borax, 1/2 cup of bleach, or OxiClean can help. Do not combine bleach with OxiClean. Scrub body with Scotchbrite sponge under the water. Put sponge in microwave oven for 1.5 to 2 minutes after bathing. This will kill mites that got captured in the business side of the sponge. Keep skin moistened by applying coconut oil after bathing. The mites don't like it, and you can catch any that escaped the bath by applying it everywhere on your body.
Daily laundering of sheets & towels. Wearing clothing only once before washing. Keep all clothing items in their own plastic ziplock bags. Express air from the bag when sealing them. If possible, wash items with chlorine bleach, Pine Sol or similar pine oil product, Borax, and hot water (140 F minimum). Most modern laundry equipment has temperature limitations on the hot water, so you have to find a way to override this or do what I did, and buy an old laundry set (toploader) via classifieds. Dry thoroughly. If clothing or linens come out a little damp, it is not dry enough. I can now get away with laundering sheets about every four days, and towels, every 2 days.
Get rid of carpeting. Keep humidity in your home low. An insect growth regulator called Nylar was moderately effective. None of these measures will work by themselves. You must be diligent in hygiene routines. I did not find dietary modifications to be all that effective, but I do not consume a lot of sweets. The mites do seem to go crazy if you eat fruit, so I cut back on it some, but it did not make them go away, just kept them from having a biting frenzy after I ate. Sulfa antibiotics can also be effective, but if you are allergic to them, as I am, you cannot use any sulfur product. Externally applied sulfur applications, such as used on dogs or sheep may help those who are not allergic.
Have your thyroid checked. Lab tests do not always show hypothyroidism. You can be hypothyroid and have a normal result, but if your result is abnormal, you can get help from an MD. Otherwise, see a naturopath or doctor of Chinese medicine to get thyroid. Mites are attracted to those with hypothyroidism.
NOT helpful with mites were: medical doctors, enzyme preparations, steaming things, insecticides based in neurotoxins, and ozone generators.
Using 5-6 drops essential oil "in a little bit of water" burns like crazy!!! Do not do that. If you want, mix all six oils, put 5-6 drops in 1-2 oz of olive oil, then use!

I have found a very easy way to tell if human have mites but since we all have them it is pretty much just a fast way to confirm. Shower/bath like normal or if you want add a couple of tea tree drops to your bathing products or 20 to your espson salt bath. :) afterwards even if you do none of that slather yourself with organic coconut oil (or any other oil you have like almond, olive, macadamian nut, castor - all good) then get the camera ready! Here they come, they all come squirming out of your pores. Hundreds came out of me. I've been doing this morning and night for 4 days and only this morning have they started to be countable like 60 etc. The tea tree oil kills the eggs too and massage yourself firmly and watch them come out it is disgustingly spectacular. Some get stuck in pores and cause breakouts. I did this to my whole family and we all had them come out. My son's arm was bumpy with the keratonisis and they squirmed out of there. I had lots come out of my feet most on uppper thighs and some out of my eye area that had been twitching and then finally the twitching stopped! Fantastic, please do it and tell everyone you know to do it. Thank you!! :)

HI U GOOD FOLKS DOIN, , , , , , , , , , ,
What a saga. I am telling you that your M.D. has no clue as far as parasites are concerned. I had a mite of some description but my dermatologist had idea what it was and did not send it off to be identified. Using 5 % Permethrin is useless as tits on a bore shote. The bugs have been immune to this strength for many years, but the M.D.'s have no idea.
I have defeated the little bastards and here is what I did. First, I have a FIR Sauna and I heated it up to 160 to 170 degrees and stayed in this heat for 20 minutes. They cannot stand this heat. That got most , but on the others I put 10 % Permethrin from the Co-op that they use on animals. On top of that I used DMSO to take it to the source. I also got into a tub of hot water that I had added 16 oz of Hydrogen Peroxide, a cup of Borax , and a cup of epsom salt. Half way through the bath I covered my body with the hottest cayenne pepper sause that our Mexican illegals can imagine. Cayenne is a natural insecticide. On completion of this procedure I then did what Ted says and that is to cover my body with a solution of Hydrogen peroxide and borax.
I then went to a dermotologist and learned the he had no clue. I did what he said but the game was already over. He did not try to learn anything about this parasite. He called it a rash. Kiss my grits. That is the reason that I rely on you folks for my good health.
What I think killed the critters is heat. My wife and I have not slept together since all this came about. If you cannot do this and protect your loved one, then you deserve whatever you get.

HI U GOD FEARING PEOPLE DOIN, , , , , , , , , , ,
Well, I'm free of my mites. It was an interesting chore. At first I had no clue. The bumps were just erupting all over my body. I am SJS so it took me a few weeks to figure out what was going on. I first went to my regular doctor and he gave me Premethrin, which is useless as tits on a bore shoat. The mites eat this as dessert.
I learned that mites die at 120 degrees so I began a FIR sauna that was between 150 and 170 degrees. Following that I took a bath using 16 oz of H202 , a cup of Borax and a cup of Epson Salt. Half-way through the bath, I coated my body down with the strongest Cayenne Pepper sauce I could find. What lots of folks don't know is that Cayenne pepper is a natural insecticide. Then I coated my body down with what is equivalent to grain alcohol. None of this is original with me. I got all this off the internet. Listen up good folks, people on the internet will tell you their woes and you need to listen. Some are out in left field but you can figure that out pretty quick. One thing that I did as a Ch E is to buy the 10% Permethrin from the Co-op which is used for animals. I put that on the spots that I knew there were mites and coated that with DMSO gel. DMSO is the strongest solvent there is and will take whatever stuff you got to the problem. I also coated my body with H2O2 and Borax as Ted suggests.
My wife washed my sheets, clothes, and towes, etc. Every day with hot, hot water and borax. I think the thing that killed my critters is heat. I have spent the money to take care of all our old age problems like a Fir sauna and a Ozone generator.
I finally got to see a dermotologist and he put me on a total body jel , Triamcinolone Acetonide. However, the game was over. I had killed the crtitters with natural products. I do think that the sauna heat is what got the little devils.
I took specimans to the Dermotologist but initially he had no clue , so I may not have had scabies. I will let you know in a week or so.

Hi Sharon, Thank you so much for your post and feedback. I just did one treatment of the lamp oil and I left it on my head for about an hour. I was just wandering if you or anyone else who has tried this could clarify how long it is left on the scalp? It sounds like some have left it on the body overnight. I massaged the oil into my scalp and then in about an hour my head started to redden and I could feel a burning sensation, so I went on and washed it out. Due to the thickness and density of my hair I can only do it once a week at least until I cut my hair, which I'm planning to do soon (for the summer). Really appreciate any additional feedback that is offered. Best wishes to everyone.
Dear Jb, please dont use any bleach solution in your hair. It could fall out or change color... Find out from the opthamalogist if you can use a dry eye ointment, it will say nightime on it. I shut down my house completely my bed is all ready and I have one light on, closet to my bed. I go to the mirror and put a fine line of the ointment in my lower eye lid. It keeps them out of my eyes at night. When I feel them in my nose or eyes I use a netty pot. The salt solution brings me almost instant relief. If I feel them on my eye lashed I use my spit like a salve and it works to keep them off my lashes. To so my hair, I will use about 4-5 tsp. Of shampoo in my hand and use 5 drops of each of these essential oils-tea tree, clove oil, and lavendar. I dont add hardly any water, I just wet my fingers and run them through my hair and shampoo. Then I wrap my hair into a towel. I leave it in up to an hr.... Now at bedtime with my hair I use olive oil, yes its a mess or mayo w/olive oil. The mayo will be cold but it does stop them from moving. Vaseline in the eyebrows helps alot. God bless you, keep fighting. :)

I really dont think that you should leave it on that long, Kerosene is petroleum based like petrol. I think over here they comb it in and leave it for about half an hour, then wash the hair well. Its basicly a light oil. It will take all the natural oil out of the hair as well, so it might be wise after its dry to comb some coconut oil back in.

Hi Gavin, Thanks so much for your feedback. I happen to have a container of lamp oil I bought as a last resort. Thanks for the tip about combing it through the hair. I have long thick hair but am preparing to cut it short for the summer. I think I will try the kerosene ( I think lamp oil is the same thing) once I cut my hair as it will be easier to comb through. Should I wrap my head in cellophane and leave it on overnight? Thanks so much for your gracious assistance!
Posted by Gavin (Manganui, Northland, New Zealand) on 04/08/2013
Sorry to hear that the olive oil didnt work for you... Over in this neck of the woods if you have a really bad infestation the common cure is kerosene, but you have to be carefull and make sure theres no open flame. If this is combed through the hair it will kill the eggs as well.

Hi Gavin, Thanks for your response. I've tried the olive oil and since I have had this so long I had many numbers to get rid of. It helped but didn't get rid of it. I'm sitting here with coconut oil in my hair now which I left on overnight (they say oil/vaseline or whatever you choose to use should be left on at least 8 hrs as the mites are able to shut down there systems for a time - I'm not sure how long). I am much better than I was when I started this battle in September 2012, but still get the feeling that my brain is being devoured and I experience soreness in my neck and shoulders. To help with this I use the sea salt and baking soda remedy Ted recommends to reduce swollen lymph nodes which I also had during one of the battles, and it helps alot.
PS This was a follow on post to my response to the essential oil therapy reported by Sherry below from a radio show called Horokane.
Posted by Gavin (Manganui, Northland, New Zealand) on 04/07/2013
Have you tried imersing your hair in olive oil, and leaving it on for five to ten minutes? then repeating in five days, apparently this suffocates the mites.
Posted by Saved But Still Battling (Baltimore) on 04/06/2013
Hello. Reporting back. Been using the essential oil therapy for about 70 days. It has been helpful in reducing the crawling sensation on the scalp but I fear I am back to being as contagious as ever. Also starting feeling extreme cramping and diahhrea. I was able to resolve this by eating something like a banana or boiled egg about 15 mins before taking the treatment. Unfortunately it seems they are getting used to this and I can feel increased digging and am experiencing twitches all over my body. I am going to give the oils a break for a while and use the transdermal magnesium therapy along with taking tumeric. I also have some iodine and grapefruit seed citricidal on the way to me along with some powdered vitamin c as I saw a post that said that most vitamins contain magnesium stearate which is used to keep the ingredients solid or something but causes poor absorption of the supplement you're trying to get into your system. I would love to find a holist doctor but am afraid of infecting someone who's trying to help me. Thanks to earth clinic and everyone here, I would feel all alone without you. Best wishes.

I'm wanting to make sure of measurements for a couple of Ted's recipes for demodex mites or issues with mites. I need to confirm if recipe below is correct. Thank you.
- 1/2 tsp borax and 1/8 tsp of baking soda and 6 to 7 drops of H202 in one liter or basically 1 quart of water to drink daily?
- 1/2 cup of borax and 1/2 H202 in tub of water for bath approximately once a week or every bath?
- small amount of borax in palm of hand and add small amount of H202 leave on a few minutes and wash face afterwards - daily
It has now been about 2 months using the quassia wood decoction as a body wash and drink. It has really helped heal and eliminate the sores. I continue to use the wash, mixed with witch hazel, all over, and drink it. I have also discovered that the "bug patch" really helps. It is a vitamin B1 patch sold for "no-see-ums", mosquitos, etc. I have three on at a time and it is helping a lot. Seems that the B1 (thiamine) goes right to blood stream and changes my smell--they hate it. Helps keep them out of my mouth and nose as they avoid the smell of expiration. I am still struggling with the mites, wonder if this will ever be completely over, but know that slowly it is getting better.

Really appreciative of the advice here. I had the same issue... Picked up mites from infected furniture. Have sealed the couch-can't put it outside.
Been using all the suggestions here and wanted to share something that has helped me turn the corner to stop the crawly/itchy sensation: sulfur8. It's for dandruff; readily available at the drugstore. I read on a medical website that sulfur kills mites, and it seems to be true. A word of caution, the menthol in this stuff is a bit powerful for a while after you put it on. Once the menthol wears off, you'll smell like the tip of a match and feel pretty greasy. And, be prepared to be disgusted. I had not actually seen the mites until they came off the surface of my skin, suffocated by the petrolatum and sulfur in this ointment. Quite gross. And effective! I will continue to do this each night until the itching is totally gone. Night #2, and so far, so good. Almost no itchies today during the day.
Now, how to deal with the couch... It's leather, still tightly sealed in plastic... Any ideas short of tossing it out?
I am trying to help as many people as I can. I discovered that if you dump benadryl liquid gel on your head the mites will come out and die. You should leave it on for a few minutes and them shampoo with 1/2 benadryl and 1/2 shampoo. Then brush. You will see them in the brush. Do it a few times if you have to. It works on your face too if you get pimples from the suckers. Also put it on your eybrows because they are there too. It draws the mites out of your pores on your face too.

Dear Sherrie, I want to thank you with all of my heart for your post. For those who are not suffering from this, just be thankful that you don't understand the nightmarish symptoms of this affliction. Just to summarize, it can make you suicidal. I had contemplated it many times, but just couldn't do it to my family, although to see my family afflicted even though they don't know it, sometimes I wish I'd had the courage to do it long ago. But anyway, to those willing to try this, it is practically miraculous the result. I've had this condition which had gradually increased in severity for about 11 years. The extreme scalp itch since about 2008. I tried the borax and peroxide, paragone, oregano oil, clove oil (topically), lemons, beets, etc. After feeling like I had fleas all over me they were eventually under some control, I thought, until I saw a women five feet ahead of me begin to scratch her head. It was at that moment that I realized I had become even more contagious. When I took this oil remedy not only did it practically erase the itching, the number of people that began to itch around me also went down significantly. I highly recommend this to those suffering. Be sure to take theraputic grade and try to elimate sugar. I've been doing this for about a month and at first I was afraid that the days off would bring back the intensity I had suffered before, but it was so much more endurable. I take it on a tablespoon like a cough syrup and follow it with a few swallows of distilled water. At first I only had oregano, cinnamon, and clove oils and this was effective too. What I have found is essential is the cinnamon oil. I tried it without the cinnamon (I had run out) and it burned my throat; that lasted a couple of days. So please ensure you take the oils with cinnamon oil (even just cinnamon spice is helpful if you're desparate). I take it like I'm licking the spoon, it seems the tongue is less senstive than the lips. And boy is it potent... I tried it in a paper and plastic cup and it melted the bottom off. Then I took it in glass but it seemed like most of it would stay on the cup. The spoon works pretty good.
Sherrie, I would like to thank the universe for bringing you to this site and moving you to write your post. I love you and may God bless you.

best stuff I know is Nature's ERADICATOR, Multi-Purpose cleaner. I tried kleen free and kleen green and this is more potent and costs less.. Same enzyme cleaner that melts the mites, scabies, bedbugs etc.. You must ask for directions on application though! they act at a warmer temperature.
my only issue is getting them out of clothes etc.. I have been able to get them out of me, and then all my bedding is fine, but clothes?? I seem to be ready to start over on my wardrobe!!
Posted by Jobugged (Los Angeles, Ca) on 03/04/2013
been using thieves oil for my immune system whenever something internal starts; it is largely clove and cinnamon oils. Is great. A couple of drops up to 3 times in 24 hours if I am feeling fluish; goes away. I don't do it every day but it is also recommended. Wouldn't worry unless you ar doing this all the time.

Pests on scalp, face and eyes: I have battled these things since July '11. I've had 4 perscriptions of permithin, they are gone about 2 days and back again. I've tried oh so many remedies to no avail until now and have started Hydrogen Peroxide and Apple Cider Vinegar, and water;so far no relief. I am also using this solution on my head as well.
I am not bitten on other parts of my body other than these things getting into my very fine, thin hair. They had burrowed in my scalp and have caused crusty type scabs. I also had cataract surgery on my left eye in Apr '11 and have problems with it ever since, not healing as it should but around July after the surgery is when I started having the "pest" problem and they absolutely flock to that bad eye. I feel them all around and in the eye. I think they have burrowed on top of my nose and under the eye sockets too. Since reading how they reproduce about every 3-10 days I realized that my nose would look "bumpy" and have a couple of small round pouches under the eye socket and then would feel these things zooming all over my face and head, then the areas would be normal again for a couple of days but start all over again.
I have lots of digestive problems and am afraid to try the Borax remedy of drinking a very mild solution of it every day.
I also have used a mild house hold bleach/water mixture on my body and am wondering if I can use it also on my scalp? Since I don't have bites on my body, that may be the reason why because I put the bleach/wtr on my body but not my head?
I'm a senior and never had a bug in my life! Not even my 3 children ever had head lice or anything like this stuff and am about to lose it!!! How does one get in touch with Ted? I sure would like to hear what he would suggest... I try to say "have faith" but at this point, "have a shot" of something real strong!!!

Regarding...
..."Diane from Berkeley, Ca replies: "Fran: Those sound very much like bed bug bites. They typically come in groups of 2's to 4's, and when irritated can have a "ring" around them like you mention. You may have an infestation. I don't have advice as to a cure..."
I just wanted to add that the cure to bed bugs is diatomaceous earth sprinkled everywhere...
For Demodex mites the cure for me is Tea Tree Oil rubbed into skin ... Patiently day after day for 60-90 days... And Mustard added to conditioner for my scalp. Mustard is 1 tsp mixed with 1 tsp water and added to 18 teaspoons [or 6 tablespoons] of conditioner or lotion or whatever you want to use depending on where you want to apply. Can also add to shampoo. I leave the conditioner on 20 minutes simply because that is how I like to condition my hair.
Also Diatomaceous Earth on mattress, pillow etc... It works when dry not wet. I think this can be used on pets too. It is edible. Only use Food Grade quality.
Sorry that this doesn't fit under Borax properly but I really want to give the answer to bed bug infestation.. And add my own experience with Demodex mites. Please feel free to replicate anywhere you prefer.
@David from Dublin You might want to read the book Use Your Brain to Change Your Age (Amazon). I just got the book, but haven't read it yet. There was a couple hour long special on our public TV station and the author did a presentation showing how some people's brains have actual pockets or holes in them. He tells how to improve your brain and make it healthy again. I too am up all night long and can't sleep at times. My mind races terribly. I sleep with the TV on. I have been setting the timer for 90 minutes so it shuts off and I can get some quiet time. It's a bad habit, I know. Hope the books helps. You may want to try a small glass of tart cherry juice at dinner time. Then power down your electronics at 8 p.m. or so.
OMG! I am not crazy... Everything y'all gave as symptoms/actions/remedies/isolation/expenses are dead on. Have had for 7 years. Can this cause brain/muscle/nervous system/blindness/loss of hearing? Death? Has anyone had trouble w/ food going down? Had to have minor surgery to open passage to stomache and have a repeated feeling of butterfly flutter (not thyroid) in esophagus? Do you know the life cycle? Thank you!
I finally self diagnosed with the neglected tropical disease- subcutaneous filiariasis. Doctors dont seem to know about it here. Starts like pimples, but a white thing (or several) wont squeeze out. Then macules, sores that itch like mad. Eventually you get thread-like worms, living in your mid-layers of skin. One variety also infects the abdominal cavity. The vector is mosquito or midge bite. I have had it for 5 years, before I finally figured out. Been pulling worms out of my face for the last 6 months. Lesions all over body that never heal right. Wiki has a page on it that's informative- there's several kinds of filariasis including an eye worm that can blind.

I picked up a skin mite infestation while a tourist in the Costa Rica rain forest five years ago. I have tried ivermectin oral and topical including eprinex, permethrin 5% cream and 45% permethrin for extra large dogs, lindane, malathion bug spray mixed with rubbing alcohol and citra-solv, bleach baths, epsom salt baths, borax oral drink, borax topical, essential oils, neem, ammonia, sulfur, etc.
By alternating I can sometimes knock them back but nothing cures. I have seen two dozen doctors and specialists, flown all over the United States seeking expert help and while I have the skin scrape results to prove I am not delusional, the doctors are clueless about how to help me.
Can you give me a update on your experience with 'Quassia Wood Chips' oral and topical??
Posted by Andrew (Cambridge, England) on 01/26/2013
hi, Neem has all round uses, a cure all , give neem sticks to your dog, and they will have no worms left. neem shampoo will destroy mites etc .
Neem leaf capsules is amust for all humans, as long as your not taking asprin, cause neem contains many of the same properties, sover many years of testing there has been no sign of resistance developed by any organism or disease, coupled with the fact that it boosts your immune system,
Neem can help with: acne, bad breath, blood clots, blood disorders, candida, tooth cavities, chagas disease, chlamydia, cholesterol, ecoli, encephalitis, food poisoning, skin fungi, gonorrhea, hepatitis, high heartrate, intes worms, kidney problems, malaria, parasites, bad circulation, pyorrhea, salmonella, stomach, bowels, syphilis, thursh, toothache, tuberculosis, urinary tract infections, yeast infections.
Maybe you could tie up the cloves in a cheesecloth and put it in a cup of tea. Not sure if I would ingest them, but I put cloves in apple cider along with nutmeg and cinnamon stick.
That was all good information. A pre-soak cycle on the washer may work just as well on the clothes, unless you're really curious about seeing what comes off of them. Also, I know an old woman who told me that baby shampoo is good to wash your face, eyebrows and eyelid margins with. It works well. Suave makes a dye free one. As far as the car goes, is it possible we are getting these bugs from our cars that sit in the garage or outdoors? Maybe a shot of flea spray on the car's carpets would be good.
That's interesting you should say that. Whenever I would get sick, I would make some Constant Comment tea, and add wedges of lemon and orange. Top it off with some honey. Great for a cold or sore throat. Maybe it keeps the critters at bay too.
You probably have a demodex mite infestation. I found this on a dog cure site - Boil lemon slices. Let them steep overnight. Rinse hair with the liquid after shampooing. Sea buckthorn oil capsules work well too.
I have been dealing with bird mites for three years, after innocently bringing an abandoned bird nest into my home as a natural decoration. Within a month I was bitten all over, then swarmed with tiny bugs I could not see. I left my house and rented a place near my job. My car and office were infested. Finally figureed out what was happening via birdmites.org. I used bug bombs, RID, etc. To no avail. Used natural remedies like neem, tea tree, cedar oil, DM, you name it. Nothing worked against these monsters, which I could feel all over, esp. In my nose, ears, eyes, crotch. Then they burrowed into my skin leaving lesions all over me. The scariest part was realizing they were in ME, not just the house, car, etc. I have been to 8 doctors who treat me like I am insane and diagnose Morgellons. Ozone, H2O2 baths help a lot, and last year I discovered that hot saunas helped beat them back, so I take a sauna 2-3x week. Still felt like I was just managing them, not killing them off.
I write this today to say that I have found that quassia wood is working to kill them off. Soak the bark chips in water and drink it and apply it all over. I have been doing this for 4 days and the results are amazing. I will post back as this treatment progresses.
Yea to Lou from Tyler, Texas!! You are right about the saliva on your face! Ty so much! When I get all ready for bed, olive oil or mayonaisse my hair, shower cap. Then use my dry eye ointment and head for my bed. The last step I do is( After brushing my Teeth and rinsing my mouth well) is to apply my saliva to my face and over my eyes. It works very well, I have felt them run off my face! :)
Does this apply to all essential oils. I was going to purchase some online and it said mix with rice milk or goats milk. I can't see how they would be able to advertise this if it were dangerous. Does anybody have an informed opinion.
