Adjust Zinc and Copper Ratios

I stumbled on a blog a couple years ago where someone said to read a book about zinc/copper ratios in your body. She said she healed hers after figuring out she was eating too much copper food. The book was called “Why am I always so tired?” by Ann Louise Gittelman, PhD.

She states in there that there are a lot of issues related to zinc deficiency, including Morton's Neuroma. Copper is very high in foods like grains, beans, nuts (including chocolate) and dried fruits. I was eating a lot of this food and also functioning more on a plant-based diet with occasional fish/eggs so it made sense to me that I was over eating copper foods. I was also hiking a lot and eating nuts and dried fruit for energy on the trails. She does indicate that even if you eat meat that you can still be zinc deficient if you're still over eating high copper foods. She also states in the book that you can take sulfur to help detox excess copper in the diet. MSM is a sulfur compound that may help with this condition.

After reading the book, I took zinc 50 mg twice a day and started eating more animal protein and cut back on the high copper foods and it went away within a day or two. That made me believe that this was the reason for my flare ups. Maybe this is not for everyone's condition of Morton's, but in case it helps anybody I thought I would let you know that it did work for me and it might be worth looking into.

The book has a lot more detail about it so it would be beneficial to read. It does not specifically talk about MSM just sulfur, but I recently read it again as I had another flareup and had forgotten what I had done before and saw the information on taking sulfur as well which I did not do the first time so I am trying out the MSM as well as zinc to see if this helps for long term results. Will update later on that one.

I have been taking 2 capsules of Serrapeptase every morning on an empty stomach and wow! I can not believe how fast this has worked on the pain and inflammation of Morton's Neuroma! I felt relief by the 2nd day!

Before I was taping my toes, second and third together, fourth and pinky toes together, which offered some relief. Now, after 2 months I don't have to tape and can walk without pain. I still know it's there if I step on a rock, but I'm 100% better than what I was not long ago.

I highly recommend this!

Morton's Neuroma:

I take enough vitamin pills and such so I thought I would try the Serrapeptase suggestion from Marigold (2014) topically. It works brilliantly. I mixed 3-5 caps of the powder with DMSO (a teaspoon or so) and keep that in a container. Apply a little to the area and the pain is gone for a week or 3. Thanks for the help.

Yes, I've had great success with sertapeptase too. But when I forgot it on vacation abroad, I found out about iodine..... completely took the pain away with one drop on the skin of my foot within hours.... lugols iodine 5%, just one drop every few days.... my hair grew thicker too!

Shoe Changes

I switched to wide shoes and then slowly to barefoot shoes, stretching and strengthening foot muscles, etc. as I went. I only ever experience a flare up of the mn symptoms if I wear regular shoes now. There are many barefoot shoe styles out these days and "anya's reviews.com" talks about foot shapes and recommends specific styles and brands custom for each person.

I put a drop of lugol's in my smoothie every morning for my low thyroid so I'm putting some on my foot and saying a prayer. :) Pain was excruciating this morning after a very busy 5 days...

Morton's Neuroma:

Serrapetase did nothing for me. I've taken it for other issues, but I got no relief and actually got worse while taking this. DE seems to be working along with ACV/BSM. I have gone to a wide shoe/boot in every style and sticking soft pads 1/4 in thick under my high arch. Its a fine line between that second toe joint and my arch, if its on the joint, I get worse. Just back of it seems to help. I am hoping this will allow me to forego surgery and podiatrist believes it will eventually.
