Natural Remedies for Male Partner BV

While Bacterial Vaginosis (BV) is by its very nature a female health problem, it can certainly be passed between partners. Additionally, many women report that they got their first case of BV after having unprotected sex with a new male partner. For this reason, a woman with BV may need to have her partner treat himself as well. Natural treatment of male partner bacterial vaginosis include home remedies such as apple cider vinegar, hydrogen peroxide, oregano oil and dietary changes.

1. Hydrogen Peroxide

3% hydrogen peroxide found in drug stores and grocery stores in a brown bottle is a simple and inexpensive topical antibacterial. It can even be bought in a spray bottle, which is extremely convenient to use after a shower. Hydrogen peroxide is then used to clean the entire private area following each shower.

2. Vitamin C

A weakened immune system is more likely to experience an outbreak of bacteria. A vitamin C supplement, taken internally will strengthen the immune system and help it to fight bacterial infections. 500-1,000 mg of vitamin C can be taken three times a day, or even more often for serious illness. If your body has had enough vitamin C, it will flush it out through the bowel. If you experience diarrhea with your vitamin C supplement, cut back the amount you take.

3. Apple Cider Vinegar

A daily dose of apple cider vinegar helps your body to be more alkaline. Bacteria thrives in an acidic environment. Adding 2-3 teaspoons of apple cider vinegar to a glass of water and consuming this throughout the day will help to balance your body. Apple cider vinegar provides a variety of health benefits, so if you take up the habit of drinking apple cider vinegar each day, don’t be surprised if you have other benefits, like lower blood pressure and weight loss.

4. Probiotics

The bacteria that cause infections can be counterbalanced with “good” bacteria. These are found in probiotic supplements, kefir, or quality yogurts. Taking a probiotic supplement or including probiotics in your diet will help you to fight BV and many other bacteria.

5. Oregano Oil

Oregano oil can be bought in capsules and taken internally. Oregano oil is a powerful natural antibiotic and immune strengthener. Again, don’t be surprised if this remedy helps you with other issues as well. Because oregano oil has antifungal properties it can clear up athlete’s foot or toenail fungus if taken long term.

6. Dietary Changes

Certain diets lend themselves to an overgrowth of bacteria. Bacteria thrive on sugar, so while treating a bacterial infection, it is wise to keep the sugar and white flour products to a minimum. Drink pure water or carbonated water, but avoid soda, energy drinks and alcohol.

Consume more fruits, vegetables and lean meats.

Coconut oil is a great fat to include in your diet since it fights bacteria.

Garlic is a wonderful antibacterial food. Feel free to add it liberally to your diet, especially when you are fighting infection.

BV in Men

Posted by L. (Morris, Oklahoma ) on 05/17/2018

Your website is the very first time I have read MEN CAN get bv and pass it to a partner. I have felt my husband and I were passing it back and forth but every Dr and website swears a man cannot get it but I just felt they were wrong. I was hoping someone could give me a little detail on men getting/having it so I can talk with my husband about it. I greatly appreciate any info you can give!!!

Just my thoughts. You don't need to tell him. Just make him drink apple cider, or whatever works for BV.
