Posting now in the correct spot.

I was in the midst of my 3rd kidney stone. Found out via CT that I had a 2 mm kidney stone high up in my left kidney. I went to the doctor because I was having mild-moderate bladder spasms (which I had experienced only one time before---right after lithotripsy for my first stone of 8 mm in 2002/2003, while I was passing the fragments of the smashed stone for 3 AWFUL WEEKS!! Never will do lithotripsy again!! ). Since then I have had the spasms most of the time, occasional back pain and almost constant tenderness and discomfort in the "female" area. I tried taking Flomax, they put me on Urimat MB (and antispasmodic used for GI issues but has shown to help with bladder spasms too --- and it did help me with mine, but I did not want to stay on it). I took Ibuprofen when I was really uncomfortable, took prescription pain med which did help, but I got some weird reaction 4 hours after taking, so I quit that. Did many hot baths.

This past Sunday night I started to hurt and I mean to HURT. I got on the computer and googled how to get rid of kidney stones and found this site. What a God-send. I am skeptical of natural remedies and as a nurse I understand and value the science of medicine. Um, color me a changed person! I read a few reviews/posts about the lemon juice and olive oil concoction and thought "It can't hurt, I'm pretty desperate, I'll try it".

I took 3 oz. of EVOO and 3 oz. of freshly squeezed lemon oil, poured them into a glass together, pinched my nose and chugged it down. Surpisingly, it did not bother my stomach at all, and I normally can't drink or eat anything "healthy". I went back to reading the reviews, and an hour later was still having a significant amount of pain. I took 600 mg. of Ibuprofen and an hour later (at 1am) my pain had lessened enough and I was tired enough that I went to bed (still in pain).

Woke up 7 hours later and pain was gone. I drank the concoction (but only 2 oz each of EVOO and freshly squeezed lemon juice) that Monday morning and evening. No pain but still no stone. (I had been peeing through a strainer since Sunday afternoon when I started to feel more pain and discomfort). Got up Tuesday morning and even before I looked in my strainer I knew that sucker had passed. It was the FIRST time in 6 weeks I peed and felt no discomfort/tenderness/throbbing/burning upon urination. It felt great! And sure enough, there in the strainer was my stone. I could not believe it. Now, maybe this was a coincidence, but I don't believe in coincidences so I think not. All I know is this: that stone passed easily and I never had any pain after the first downing of the mixture.

I have since purchased the herb Chanca Piedra and will be taking that as a stone preventative but should I end up with another stone, I will immediately begin the lemon juice and EVOO remedy.

To those of you reading this, you have nothing to lose in trying this. I feel for all of those out there suffering with kidney stones and hope you get relief very quickly!

I will NEVER have lithotripsy done again. NEVER. I'm a nurse so when I say I will do anything but that, I know exactly what I am saying. To be fair, I had a friend who also had a kidney stone around the same time with the usual godawful pain, he had lithotripsy and had not one iota of pain afterwards. So, I guess some people have good success.

Does this work for a kidney stone that is 9mm? I was told I couldn't pass this without it being broken up. This is my first one! No pain yet and it is in ureter.

Barbara, I'm sorry that is a really large stone! The one I had lithotripsy for was 8mm. Will never do lithotripsy again as I stated before.

I am skeptical you will be able to pass your stone naturally due to the size---but that is only MY opinion. I think if it was me I would try the lemon juice/olive oil concoction for a bit, PROVIDED there was no pain. I would encourage you to read the other threads on here because I THINK I read of some folks passing some stones about the size of yours (or close to that size) but I'm not certain. Please don't take anything I say as a recommended course of action---these are just my thoughts. Hang in there and good luck!!

My pain went away about one minute after I took two tablespoons of olive oil (only had regular) mixed with the juice of half a lemon. Decided to try this mixture out of desperation and knowing the same is use to dissolve gallstones. The the pain had begun to spread to my arms and upper back. Thank God is gone.

Hi fellas ..I know you are not feeling good right now as you are browsing searching for that horrible pain that these stones causes ..well, to date I have passed almost 8 -10 stones ranging from 4mm to 8.5 mm ... only once for the very first time I choose lithotripsy for the removal but after that I got used to these evil creatures and used only one remedy to pass them which is lemon and olive oil concoction ... I successfully passed many stones using this method ..

All you have to do is take equal amounts of freshly squeezed lemon juice and olive oil edible stir olive oil a little over heat and mix lemon juice to it when warm ..Not HOT .. guzzle it as it's very pathetic to taste ..and drink at least one litre of water quickly ....

My piece of advice is do it on empty stomach .. benefits you won't feel like throwing out and choking ...if stone is already out of kidney or moving, I always grab a six pack of beer and drink em up and try to hold the presssure as much as I can ...well doctor says avoid alcohol as it dehydrates but I know while doing this stuff m well hydrated ...I know it hurts but I've decided to keep my body hydrated for the rest of my life or when the stone again strikes.

I'm a 35 year old female with a 6.5mm kidney stone. My first ever.

Exactly one month to the day my kidney stone struck, it "left the building" (so to speak.) The first two days of my stone were dismal. I ended up in the ER, but was released to go home and try to pass the stone with the help of flomax. Initial scanned showed it was way up in ureter, but my urologist wanted to give it time to pass naturally if we could avoid surgery. 2.5 weeks later, a second scan showed it has nested in the lower ureter. During this time, I felt no pain or discomfort whatsoever. Eventually, the stone dropped even lower toward the bladder and at this point I started to experience extreme frequency and urgency. (Imagine a really intense UTI.) In addition, my stone was irritating nerves which were referring pain to the vaginal area. While pain killers didn't do anything for the nerve pain, a good old-fashioned hot water bottled worked wonders. (There's really no dignity in kidney stones, so don't be shy. You just have to stuff it down your pants.) AZO and pyridium did nothing for the urgency. My uro did prescribe oxybutynin, which helps with bladder spasming, and seemed to provide a little relief. This all continued for about a week, but today I started to notice some blood in my urine, which had been a telltale sign that my stone was moving throughout the course of this experience. I also noticed that the nerve pain was intensifying and I was experiencing low-grade back cramps for the first time in weeks. Assuming this meant the stone was trying to make its final descent into my bladder, I threw every tactic at it that I could find.

I did a shot of lemon juice + olive oil. I took an aggressive walk around the block. Did some living room hula hooping motions + side bends. I also used a deep tissue handheld vibrating massager on and off on the area for an hour. I also chugged water like crazy the entire day. This evening I took a hot bath and afterwards noticed that my urine stream was quite slowed despite all the water I was drinking. Assuming that meant the stone was impeding the flow, I continued drinking water and making runs to the toilet every couple minutes for a trickle. A few hours later, I went to the bathroom and was able to get a full and powerful stream going again. I felt a slight burning and much to my surprise (and delight) when I stood up the stone had finally been evicted. People aren't kidding when they say you feel instantly better and back to normal.

I have no idea which of these tactics helped, but I hope some or all will help you. I was originally told it was highly unlikely I'd be able to pass a stone this size, but I'm thankful my urologist gave me a month to make it happen. I'm also SO thankful for all the advice shared on this site!

Lemon juice (2 oz) and olive oil (2 oz) in a large shot glass chased with 24 oz water 3 times daily was successful in painlessly clearing my kidney stone in 3 days. Ultra sound had been done and determined I most likely would not be able to pass it on my own. I was told I would have to have a medical procedure to clear it. I thought "there must be a better way" and found this web site. My kidney stone was calcium based, so the science makes sense. Had a recurrence a few months later, used the same method, pain again subsided with hours, stone passed in 3 days. Thank you Earthclinic.com!!!

That's great news! I've been trying to determine if the same process would work with gall stones...what are your thoughts on that? I have a gall stone...it grew from 3mm to 5mm within a year or so and I'm a bit concerned as my sister passed of gall bladder cancer - I've read once a stone reaches 10mm it's more likely to become cancer.

Thank God for this site.. This is the ONLY thing that would help my boyfriend who was in excruciating kidney stone pain.. He is super skeptical about "natural cures" but I swear by them.. After being in the worst pain of his life for about a half hour he decided to take a shot of this concoction that I found on Earthclinic ..

combined a half a lemon with 1-2 tablespoons of olive oil and within 20 minutes his pain was greatly reduced..

He repeated this 2-3 times every hour or so.. And felt almost no pain when he passed the stone..

Well.... here goes nothing! I just downed 2 oz of lemon juice and 2 oz of extra virgin olive oil followed by 24oz of distilled water. I had to do it twice because I puked the first round up after about 30 mins. I actually think it was the water that made me sick to my stomach. The lemon juice and olive oil concoction didn't taste NEARLY as bad as I assumed it would based on others' comments. I'm hoping this works! I have a history of kidney stones ( as do both of my parents) and wish I would've seen this natural remedy earlier! I had to have one surgically removed about 7 yrs ago after a lithotripsy was ineffective. I never want to go through that misery again! I am currently uninsured or I would've been to the ER days ago. The pain is almost unbearable. Here's to success for myself and anyone else suffering too!!!

Question for Jennifer and her kidney stones:

You say .... here goes.... that you are downing lemon juice and olive oil for the stones. I've posted on this and read posts on the use of lemon juice in water (one half lemon in glass of water) ... twelve times in a day over a period of up to two weeks and after three days a quarter cup of olive oil to help the stones evacuate.

But it sounded like all you were taking was a one time use of olive oil and lemon juice. Maybe I misunderstood you; but in my reading a LOT of juice will be needed to unlodge the stones, helped by the olive oil. I've had 4 stones and got all of them eliminated but only after at least 3 or 4 days of downing diluted lemon juice. One stone took 10 days. That's 60 lemons!!!! In 12 glasses of water.

HI U DAVE,,,,,,,,, I first learned of this trick at the last paper mill before I retired. Folks there drank apple juice for a week before they did the olive oil and lemon juice thing. Supposedly the apple juice caused the stones to crumble so they would pass. This protocol will work for kidney, liver or gall stones.

We have done this many times to prevent the problems you describe. Now we do this yearly and only get what is called gravel. As the old saying goes, an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.

I was diagnosed with a 3mm kidney stone mid-June when I experienced really bad flank pain on my right side. Found out it was in my right ureter. they just gave me pain meds & antibiotics and said drink plenty of fluids. I had blood in my urine and eventually the pain just stopped. I never caught a stone through the strainer so I thought maybe it passed without me knowing. Met with a urologist and did an xray and they said no stone was present. then on to J uly 18th -- I experience these really bad UTI - like symptoms. urgency to urinate and burning/stinging pain. got lab work and was placed on antibiotics. finished the 7 day treatment and made another appt to see my urologist because the meds didn't do anything and I just knew it wasn't a UTI. I begged for another ct-scan and what do you know... stone is still there.. and now its stuck in my bladder which is causing spams (therefore the urgency/burning feeling) and he said, if you really can't handle the frustration and discomfort anymore, we can do surgery.

So they scheduled me for surgery this coming Tuesday... but I was really trying to avoid that and thats when I came across this olive oil/lemon juice concoction. I started it yesterday morning (7/27) and did 3 shots of it through out the day (bfast/lunch/dinner) and when I woke up this morning (7/28) to use the restroom... BAM! It's at the bottom of the toilet bowl.

Why didn't I just do this the day I found out I first had kidney stones?? I was skeptical too... thinking 'really? ur gonna make me drink olive oil?' ... but I'd say it definitely worked. THANK YOU THANK YOU!!! No more surgery for me! :)

I have been to the ER four times over the last nine years with some serious kidney stone pain. Similar to many other posts, I was treated with lots of pain killers, and eventually sent home with more meds, and told to drink plenty of fluids. My latest episode started the morning of July 4th, and I stayed in bed all day with what I thought was a stomach ache. The following Saturday night I started feeling very poorly, and knew I had to get to the ER before the pain became unbearable. I told the ER doctor I thought I had a kidney stone, but I was not yet doubled over in pain, and he said "you don't look like you have a kidney stone! " I said "trust me, Doc" and sure enough, the CAT scan confirmed another stone. After being released with more pain killers and orders to keep hydrated, I came home and found your website the following day.

I started the lemon juice and olive oil treatment two times per day for three days, then once per day for two days. I was straining my urine with no visible results, and assumed the treatment was having no effect. Tonight (July 20th) I had the urge to urinate before dinner, but could only manage a dribble. After dinner, I felt a mild discomfort in my groin, and easily passed a large, fairly round stone with no serious pain.

I have a follow up appointment with urology, and will post again with an update. I believe the lemon juice and olive oil did the trick for me! Thanks for helping find a natural, pain free cure!

My son was in so much pain that he could barely walk. He didn't want to miss work and didn't want to go to the hospital where in the past they had given him a shot of morphine and pain pills and sent him home. I looked up natural remedies for kidney stones.

I found a couple sites about Lemon Juice and Olive Oil.

Every time my son had an episode and went to the hospital they'd just give him morphine and send him home with a bottle of pain pills until he could pass the stone.
Once I read about lemon juice and olive oil remedy he has used it at the slightest ting of pain. I mix doses in the smaller brownish pills bottles 2 TBS lemon juice (have also used Real Lemon and 2 TBS Olive Oil. It fits exactly with room to shake for mixing.
Shake well and take one 1st thing in the morning, lunch, supper and at bed time. For as fast as the bad pain decreases or stops, I think that the olive oil sticks to the sharp edges on the stone so it slides around and then it doesn't scratch the inside of the kidney.

My son says it tastes terrible and he'll never take it again but as soon as he gets one little kidney pain he asks me to make up a batch for him.

I've had several small calcium oxalate stones (3-5 mm) since the early 1990s. Fortunately, I've never required medical intervention. Last Thursday I developed the telltale symptoms. I learned years ago when an attack begins, to immediately drink lots of water and if available, a lengthy hot shower on my back where the pain is. The hot shower dilates blood vessels, relaxes smooth muscle to assist in the passage of the stone. While the water and hot shower helped this time, I was unable to pass the stone until today. Since it's Memorial Day, my chances of obtaining medical relief were nil so I started searching for a home remedy. I ran across the oil and lemon juice treatment. I must admit, as a scientist, I was skeptical. Olive oil is not going lubricate your urinary tract and the lemon juice may help dissolve certain kinds of stones. I figured, what the heck, anything is worth a try.

Within an hour, the pain subsided and I think the stone has passed to my bladder. The trick now will be to drink enough water to flush the stone through my bladder. The trick will be to align the stone with my urethral opening and voila, the stone will pop out without much difficulty. It may be a coincidence that the OO and lemon juice seems to work, but I'm a happy camper right now. If you're suffering, it's worth a shot.

IT WORKS! I literally just passed a 3mm stone 5 minutes ago. Wow. After that first wave of nausea and pain, the worst pain I got was noticeable but not crippling and that was only two times on just one day. After that, virtually nothing. No pain, no nausea. I never went to the emergency room or needed medication. My CT Scan showed the stone in my ureter and doc said try to let it pass, if not then lithotripsy. I actually never saw the doc. We did it all by email. Modern times.

For the remedy I was not very scientific. But I drank the juice of one lemon plus an ounce of Extra Virgin Olive Oil (EVOO) almost every night. I also drank the juice of 1/2 lemon plus approx 2 TBsp of ACV 5 or 6 times each day. I bought a bottle of Chanca Piedra and would mix some in water or beer - usually one dropper full 2 or 3 times per day.

I highly recommend anyone with Kidney Stones try this! This is the real deal.

Lemon juice and olive oil for kidney stones definitely works- took my husband to the ER they gave him morphine sent him home with prescription for oxycodone - he had to take two at a time to manage the pain- meds were running out and I found this website, thank God.

2oz of lemon juice with 2 oz of olive oil did the trick. Took one dose at night and the other at 10am next morning -went 24hrs without pain. Well, it wore off and he was hurting- gave him the mixture again and a dose of oxycodone- he went thru the night with no pain and still no pain.

So it works but it will wear off so you have to keep taking it.

I have had urology problems for many years, and have had lithotripsy twice for separate stones. On both occasions the surgical method was successful for bladder stones. On both occasions the stone has sat in the bladder and has behaved like a float, and blocked off the urethra stopping urine flow. The first time caused intense pain, "epididymitis orchitis" and and septicemia. The reason this happened in the first place was because I had a urethral stricture in the early 90's.

Urologists sorted this by grafting skin from my leg to create a new and enlarged urethra. Now with this treatment you would think it was "job done" but it was if anything the cause of my "epididymitis orchitis" in 2009. The cause was the skin graft in the 90's had hair follicles which grew internally through the urethra and thus restricting flow, retaining urine and over time creating a 10cm stone which suddenly started to release toxins and produce immense pain. I had a repeat of the same in 2010 which was sorted by lithotripsy and the hair inside the urethra was all burned away by laser treatment.

Now I have a new stone and as before the stone settles at the neck of the urethra or somewhere close by. The position stops the urine flow by acting as a stopper. When laying down the stone rests on the nerves around the edge of the bladder which is damn uncomfortable as I always think I need a wee.

Anyway, I do not relish the thought of yet another hospital stay so have been looking at your pages and "cures" concerning this. I have been using the olive oil/lemon juice option and can report very good results so far with the stone quite obviously breaking down and being expelled as gravel. I am encouraged by the results so far and I will update some more in next few days. I set out to try anything that saves the surgical intervention.

Your website is a Godsend. My husband has had over 40 kidney stones in is life. Friday night I had to take him to the emergency room he was in so much pain. He had a 5mm stone they kept him overnight on morphine.

Then I found this website and Sunday I gave him one dose of the two ounces of bottled lemon juice and 2 ounces of extra virgin olive oil in some water (we also put some apple cider vinegar in it).

We repeated that 3 times on Monday. Tuesday morning he got up and passed the stone. He has never passed the stone that fast. He had no more pain after starting the regimen. Thank you so much!
