I've experienced the joy of kidney stone attacks for 12 years off and on, (33 yr male). Monday I spent the night in ER with a return visit Wednesday. Friday the urologist scheduled me for surgery with enthusiasm, I might add. Disgusted at the thought of the invasive procedure and the $$$$, I searched the web for any sign of hope. Friday I found your site. At 12pm I took a shot of the "tonic" 3oz olive oil, 3oz lemon juice. Not bad taste. Followed it with 1 liter of water over the next 5-10 minutes. Before bed (about 9pm) I took another shot, 2oz. olive oil, 2oz. lemon juice - followed by about 1 liter of water over next 10 minutes. I was still having back pain and discomfort to a slightly lesser degree but it was tolerable unlike the previous 4-5 consecutive days. Next morning (9am) I took my third shot 2oz. olive oil, 2oz lemon juice, followed by lots of water throughout the morning. Frequenting the bathroom often over the course of the morning, I noticed my "flow" was increasing in pressure and ease. HAPPY to announce, at 12:30pm I birthed my largest stone to date: a 4 mil jagged, ugly dude. However I did it with the slightest of discomfort. I will return to the urologist on Monday bearing the bad news for him; no car payment from my surgery. Thank You for the help, I will return to your site in the future and spread the word. -Aaron-

I am scheduled for surgery Mar 18. Have a 6mm stone in left ureter and 11mm stone in right kidney. About a week ago mixed up 2oz olive oil/2oz lemon juice and drank it followed by lots of water. Not too bad going down, but I have a strong stomach. But nothing happened. Repeated the concoction 3 days ago. Last night noticeable pain, but not anything like what caused my ER visit a month ago. Took a pain pill and got to sleep. Came back home from xcntry skiing today and went to bathroom for a BM. Got up and spotted a urine colored "smutz" about the size of a silver dollar on the side of the bowl with consistency similar to mucus. I don't recall sensation of urination but there it was. I'm 65 year male and I've never seen anything like it. Now, 2 hours later, all achiness and sensation of pressure on my left side is gone. I'm convinced something about those two stones has changed for the better. When I get my next xray I'll post an update.

I forgot to thank you, Cindy, for your kind response to my posting. I am still pain free and have stopped trying to catch the stone. However, if my pain returns I will definitely down a two-liter bottle of coke and then take the purree of asparagus (ugh). So, thanks.

Well, I seem to be a yea after all. I feel foolish, having posted myself as a nay, but its now been 48 hours since I've had any pain. I've peeing through a strainer and have not passed the stone but perhaps it has completely dissolved. A urologist I just saw last week recommended drinking 3 oz of lemon juice in 30 oz of water daily as a stone preventative.
EC: Rating has been changed - thanks for the update!

Hi Bill, Sorry you are having kidney stone pain. This happened a few years ago to a friend and she was in so much pain, in desperation she searched online and found a "secret" that would dissolve stones. She paid the 30 dollars to find out the secret and then felt really stupid. But she did what it said and hasn't had any pain since. The directions? In the morning drink a whole 2 liter bottle of regular cola within two hours (she did a glass every 15 min.) then as soon as you finish the last of it eat 8 oz of pureed asparagus. She bought a can, added some seasoning and warmed it up before she ate it. She said when she urinated it smelled really strong and the directions said the stone would pass within hours. She said she must have passed the stone because she was in extreme pain when she started the cure and by the end of the day the pain was gone and she hasn't had any since. Obviously the chemistry of the urine changes and dissolves the stone. Not sure what's happening, but it seemed to work.

I'm a Nay. With great hope I began taking 2 oz fresh-squeezed organic lemon juice mixed with 2 oz organic extra virgin olive oil whisked together (like drinking salad dressing -- not bad) followed by a cup of warm water twice a day for the past five days and nothing. My 3 mm stone remained in a spot giving me flank pain. Finally yesterday the stone seemed to move two inches but it has not passed.

1/21/02 Kidney Stone Attack #2
My first kidney stone was in 5/97. I went to the ER, received medication for pain and after the pain subsided went home. About 3 days later the stone passed with no further problems.
My second Kidney stone was in 1/02 and about 18 hours after the pain began passed a dark brown irregular calculus measuring about 3x2mm.
My third kidney stone incident began on 1/4/10 with the familiar discomfort in my groin and lower back. I was driven home and took some leftover pain med.
Three days later, I finally got to the doctors. I didn't take any pain med and the pain began while in the waiting room and intensified while I waited in the exam room for the PA, ceasing a few minutes before she entered. She sent me to nearby hospital for a CT scan. Their report confirmed a 5mm stone at the opening where the urethra empties into the bladder, a common bottleneck for stones. The Urologist, who was able to see me right away, explained that 5mm is about the limit for stones to pass without assistance and there were two procedures available, extracorporeal shock wave lithotripsy and ureteroscopy, where they insert a fiber optic probe through the urethra and break up and grab the stone in a basket. He said that the stone's position made the blasting not a good percentage option. I decided to give it about a week and set a followup for the next Wednesday. He gave me some Flomax and a strainer and told me to drink a lot of water.
The next few days the pain came and went. Monday, I called the Urologist to set up the operation as soon as possible. It turned out that I needed clearance and some additional tests. The earliest the procedure could be scheduled was Thursday, Jan 14. When I got home, I jogged & walked 2 miles in the park and jumped off of a picnic table several times, trying to dislodge the stone from where it was stuck and move it into my bladder. It might have worked because after that there was no more pain - even the back soreness disappeared.
Tuesday, back to the doctor for an EKG, more blood work, and a chest X-ray. I passed the time in the waiting room looking up kidney stones on the internet on my smart phone. I found an interesting site that promised an effective home remedy of a common drink plus a vegetable, for $40. Researching it at home later, I found it was reported as a scam and that the "secret" was 6 cans of Coke and pureed asparagus. Thankfully, I kept researching alternatives and found this web site that listed hundreds of testimonials for a simple mixture of olive oil and lemon juice.
I went to the store and bought some lemon juice - not from concentrate - in a yellow squeeze bottle. At 3:30 pm I mixed 2 oz of each in a salad cruet (how appropriate) and shook it up really well, then downed it, followed by 12 oz water. The taste wasn't as bad as some reported and other than some oily belches, there were no side effects. It might even have had a beneficial effect of loosening my bowels that were tight from the pain meds. But still no stone.
Later, I rode my horse with my wife and did a lot of sitting trot to keep working on jarring down the stone. We watched a movie until 10:30pm, at which time I made a second cocktail, about 2.5 oz each of oil and juice this time and downed it. I got up to urinate around midnight and heard a distinct clink as the stone passed and hit the bottom of the jar. I collected it with the strainer and it looked different from my previous stones, which were light brown and very jagged. This one measures about 3 x 4mm and is darker, sort of rounded. It's possible the potion partially dissolved it making it rounder and smoother - if so, that's a good thing because there was no pain or any sensation at all when it passed - nine days from the initial attack and about 9 hours after my first drink, 1 1/2 hours after the second.
I'm very grateful to the people who put up this web site. It is truly a godsend. I brought the stone to the Urologist today, to have analyzed, and, obviously, called off the procedure - saving thousands of dollars and unknown discomfort!
I'm convinced that the olive oil and lemon juice helped the stone pass, thus averting unwanted and unnecessary surgery. The urologist thought the jumping did more than the mixture, but admitted that lemon juice is helpful in preventing stones. I plan on taking the mixture periodically to help inhibit kidney stones, cause there's no way I'm going to refrain from all the foods in the big list my urologist gave me. In the future, if I experience kidney stone pain I will take the potion from the outset, combined with some serious jumping. Pain medication and flomax are also helpful.

I had an ultrasound done about a month ago, that showed a kidney stone in each kidney, around 4mm. They were not causing any pain. I then went home to research kidney stones as i didn't know much about them, and found myself terrified to find that they are associated with horrible pain, worse than childbirth!
I came across this website and decided to give it a try. What I did was squeeze some fresh lemon juice (approx. 8 ounces) and i drank it over about an hours time. I also had a couple spoonfuls of Olive Oil with my dinner. I drank about 1 liter of water in the couple hours following this.
Felt nothing at first, then about 4 hours later got bad stomach cramping and had diarrhea. Was also nauseous. Cramping remained for about an hour. Then had urge to pee and went. Didn't see anything.
No idea if this did anything for my stones...but i guess it didn't agree with my body lol. Will update to say if it worked or not!

My wife had 2 very bad kidney stone attacks, both times landing in hospital.Tried to find something on the net and landed here. After reading the proposed cures I decided to get her to try olive oil and lemon, as it was the treatment that had the most positive answers. I mixed her same parts olive oil, any brand, and lemon, just following the general instructions. Lots of water after the drink.
The results were amazing, she passed a gelatinlike thing which we suppose was the stone and got instant relief.
After 5 days she started to look green when she saw the olive oil, but kept taking it 2x a week for a month. We have no proper way of thanking all of you, the result was a resounding succes. Thanks

Hi. 53 yr old male. Got my first stone out of the blue on Sat. 12/8. Had no idea what was going on, pain was excruciating but stopped after 4 hours. Thought maybe a stone, but when pain stopped I didn't know for sure. No pain at all Sunday or Mon. am. Around 3 pm Mon. pain started again, more gradual then pretty sore. Called my primary-sent me to ER. IV killed pain, CT scan said 4MM stone. Go home and drink, with percocet for pain. Drank Mon night, all day Tues, probably 2 gallons, all morning Wed. no pain, no stone passed. Found this site and said what the hell. Mixed and drank the Extra Virgin Olive Oil and Lemon Juice, 2oz,each at 2:30 Pm. Kept drinking water all evening and through the night, whenever I had to get up to urinate. Got up Thurs. 5:15 am, urinated (what else) had breakfast, still no pain no stone. About 6:30 am had urge to urinate, after having gone 15 mins. earlier, out pops stone, completely painlessly!! I have no idea if it was the mix or the 3 days of water, but whatever it was it worked. I am probably the most skeptical person you could find re: home remedies, but as someone else said, give it a try, what do you have to lose (except a stone!)

This is to Eva in Chatanooga - There are three kinds of kidney stones. I have the second most common kind of stones. The lemon and olive oil didn't work for me. Perhaps the olive oil and lemon juice only work on the most common kind. If anyone out there knows of a treatment for other kinds of stones, please let me know.

Lemon Juice and Olive Oil worked
I noticed that I was getting lower back pain for no reason, and it kept getting worse. I was having problems getting to sleep because of the terrible pain. I thought that it could be kidney stones, so I went to your site to see if there was a treatment. I gave it a try and was delighted when the pain subsided. I'm still drinking the Lemon juice/olive oil, and everyday I'm feeling better. Thank you for this wonderful site.

hey i just found this website and i want people to know that this has been more helpful to me than anything or anybody else i have contacted about kidney stones. i have had stones since 2005 and i am suffering from the pain as i type. i'm sitting on a heating pad. its helping a little, but after reading all the info you can bet your bottom dollar when i get off work today i will be stopping by the store to get me some oliver oil and lemon juice and giving it a try. it sounds like to me it is going to work. other sites also have suggested 3 to 4 apples a day for a week and then the lemon juice and olive oil for 2 days after to clean the system completely out. i dont know i'm willing to try anything. i do not wish kidney stones on my worst enemy. i have more respect for him than that. i was raised by a drill sergeant and was raised to show no pain or emotion. but the first time i passed a kidney stone i cried like a baby because i have never expericened that kinda pain. but now i know the pain when it comes on. but i will try the lemon juice and olive oil and keep the forum informed on how it works. thanks for all the input that everybody has done. its helped me alot. peace and may god be with us all.. brandon

Another satisfied customer here, 50 y.o. male. I woke up yesterday morning with excruciating pain centered on the lower right flank of my back. I was also not able to urinate as I normally would and the pressure kept building up. After googling a few pages I was able to find the Earth Clinic site and with over two hundred Yeas for the Olive Oil & Lemon Juice treatment I decided to give it a try. I mixed Two Ounces of Extra Virgin Oil with Two Ounces of store brand Lemon Juice concentrate which I was able to keep down. I also took two over the counter Naproxen Sodium pain killers and drank two eight ounce glasses of water.
Within a half of and hour the pain had subsided somewhat although I still couldn't urinate. Throughout the course of the day I took several Hot showers focusing the hot water on my right rear flank. Additionally, I would jump up and down and shake it all about vigorously to dislodge the stone which eventually allowed me to urinate a bit. As the day progressed I would continue to drink more water (some with Lemon Juice added) with the result being that the pressure would build up, the pain would increase and I would return to the hot shower and jump about until I was able to relive myself.
At about 6 PM I drank another 2 Ounces of Olive Oil and 2 ounces of Lemon juice as I was convinced the treatment was working. Approximately a half hour later I threw up. By 8 PM my ability to urinate (almost normally) returned to my great relief and the pain had virtually disappeared. At bedtime I took another two OTC Naproxen Sodium pills just to be sure and over the course of the night I woke up several times to urinate, each time more freely than the last. I woke up this morning pain free and have taken one more shot of the Olive Oil/Lemon Juice mixture just to make sure I'm all cleared out.
This treatment absolutely worked for me and I am very thankful to have found out about it. THANK YOU!!

Your story mimics absolutely mimics mine. Had all the typical UTI symptoms. Doctor diagnosed an infection in office but days later, called that the lab found blood in urine with no bacteria. I was advised to see a gyno. No problem there. Problem solved a week later.....kidney stones.

I used to get kidney stones all the time but by age 50 I was tired of going to hospital being sent home medicated for pain and paying a small fortune for the "treatment". then I learned about squeezing 4 tablespoons of fresh lemon juice and mixing it with an equal amount of Extra Virgin Olive Oil. This is to be swallowed all at once and followed by a large glass of water. Usually within 24 hours, the stones will come out on their own while urinating, sometimes broken down into a little pile of what looks like sand. Take this concoction at the first signs of (what is for many of us) the all too familiar lower back pain.

i had a UTI about a month ago and took antibiotics for it. the discomfort went away after a few days. about four days later i began to feel discomfort in my lower right abdomen. i have no health insurance so i did some reading online and came to the conclusion that i developed a kidney infection due to the UTI not clearing up completely. i began taking antibiotics for this and it seemed to start to clear up. then last night i began to get short, stabbing pains in the upper right area of my groin. i did more reading and learned that this may be a sign that a kidney stone could be working its way down the urethra. that the sharp pain was the urethra pulsating as the stone moved down...causing the sharp pains. the pains happened about every three to five minutes and didnt last more than a few seconds. i did the "jump and bump" method to try and help it move along. after almost an hour the pains stopped..so im guessing the stone is in the bladder now.
my question is..can this really be a kidney stone since i've had no other sympton such as pain in the back or chills or other symptoms associated with kidney stone passing? since im not even sure if this is a stone or not..i'm having doubts about getting started on the lemon and olive oil method.
one thing i've noticed is that almost everyone here were already in pain when they turned to the lemon and olive oil method. has anyone started using this before any pain set in? if so were you able to pass the stone without any pain at all?
if i do have stones they are more than likely struvite stones since all this happened soon after i had a UTI. will the lemon and olive oil method work on these?
