Essential Oils
Posted by Sister Of Wolves (Cork, Ireland) on 01/03/2011

I mixed 5 drops each of Cedarwood, Sandlewood and Vetiver ewssntial oils in 20 mls of carrier oil - I used organic olive oil as I was using the mixture within a couple of days. This closes and heals lesions in the skin. The oils are all high in sesquiterpenes:
Cedarwood 98%
Sandlewood 90%
Vetiver 97%
Mix thoroughly; always use a good quality carrier oil. Make sure the oils are skin quality. Massage in gently. Essential oils are very strong, a little is enough. Happy New Year To All Members Of Earth Clinic Family

Fish Oil, Vitamin E

Fish oils helped clear up a gross patch of skin I developed on my face after being ill for several years. I take 1 Tablespoon per day, down it with a glass of juice, and started seeing results pretty quickly! I now take it every other day or so just because. I refer to it as liquid gold now :)

I only used a generic brand too as I was unable to afford the $50 high quality stuff so give the $10 bottle a chance! Sometimes I say a prayer beforehand to make the oil more healing for my body. whatever works!

As for getting it down: the unflavoured stuff works best. Pour some on a large spoon, have flavoured drink/fruit juice ready, hold breath, pour oil onto tongue, pour some juice into mouth and swallow whatever you can. Only breathe through mouth when necessary. Once its all down keep drinking juice and swish around in mouth so it cleans up the gross taste and swallow. It can be done! :)

Ghee

Ok - I have very dry skin. Cool air, wind, all of these make my skin feel tight, dry and itchy. Recently I discovered that ghee (clarified butter) rubbed on my skin at night made it feel much better and I wake up with younger skin. So - I started putting it near my eyes and on my eyelashes and it would get into my eyes and it felt good. I have had fatty deposits on my eyeballs for a while now and usually can't drive at night and have to wear reading glasses to read (i am 50) but imagine my surprise when I had to drive in the dark for an emergency and had no trouble! And also I found myself not reaching for my reading glasses as often!!! Now I put the ghee into my eyes every night. Also my eyes are whiter in the morning and I have almost no crows feet!!! Amazing!!!

Nutrient Masks

Nutrient Masks I use:

1/4 of a Banana + 1 tablespoon of honey = for facial smoothing and nutrient cleanse.
Leave on 30 minutes before rinsing.

1 tablespoon honey with 3 tablespoons of plain yogurt = for glowing skin.
Leave on for 30 minutes before rinsing. This remedy is a popular skin remedy in the Middle East.

1-2 egg whites = cleansing mask, sucks out all impurities on your skin.
Allow egg whites to dry, then allow an additional 5 minutes before rinsing.

Hydrogen Peroxide

Hello,

I have a quick question but one that's serious for me. I am using hydrogen peroxide as a toner and it has done wonders to my skin. But I keep hearing about how it is an oxidant and that it will cause my skin to age; is this true? Should I stop using it on my face? This is my fear thank you.

Oatmeal and Baking Soda Scrub
Posted by Jk (Lorimor, Ia, Usa) on 05/15/2010

Tee, I just grab a handful of oatmeal from the box and mix in enough baking soda until it kind of looks good. I keep it in a container and when I'm in the shower I just rub this into my face like any facial scrub. I do this twice a day, but I have pretty tough skin and also very oily. If you have any acne, it may tingle a little. I love the results! I'm also trying it on my cellulite on my legs. We'll see?!?

Tee, I forgot! I don't let it sit on like a mask. I just rub it in good and then rinse off. Hope it works for you!

Raw Cocoa Butter
Posted by Carlos (Barcelona, Spain) on 04/16/2010

Hi

PLEASE if you read this run and try to find 100% pure unrefined cocoa butter. IM writing from experience.I have tried many of the remedies and beauty advices in this website like ACV and hdrogen peroxide on my face.Ive tried most oils you can like jojoba, sesame olive oil.ive used aloe vera, soy milk,..Ive used snail cream and other chemical regular cheap and expensive brands that I cant list here.

The truth is I die for cosmetics specially natural and Im always in the look for the next new thing. While browsing I found out an article talking about recent studies stating cocoa had 5 times more antioxidant than green tea pomegranade etc. I remember cocoa had always been in my grandma bathroom as a body mostourizer, but it was the procesed product with everything on it alcohol fragance etc.

So I went to the afro store and bougt the most famous brand whose name starts with"P". It claims to have cocoa and E vitamin.I started to use it on my face,I saw improvement but I flt the chemicals on it althou I could feel cocoa was definately good.It was clearing my face and very mosturizing. So i went on looking for the pure 100% cocoa butter with absolutely nothing but cocoa butter.I found a store that sells just basic stuff no brand, you ask for the weight you want and they give you a white bottle with raw cocoa butter. It was solid and smell sostrong and sweet. More than any chocolate Ive ever had.

Well I washed my face with warm water. I did put a bit of it in th microwave and it became oil.I did put it in my face and.....o man.

Im 28,Im a man but I wore make up before cause I worked in modeling.I gotta tell you after few hours I looked just exactly as if I had make up on.REALLY

My skin tone is even and light,I can only see my eyebrows my eyes and my mouth. The rest of my face is even.Ive never felt this mostourized, and Ive tried every oil you can imagine. It absorbs quickly. I smile and watever and theres no tighness.Theres absolutely n problem with eye contact I did put it all over. Needless to say it also leaves your lips in perfect condition.

I gotta say Ive tried many mny things, lookig for ayounger teenage appreance, and I ahvent seen anything work this fast, this good.

Also dont worry if you are prone to acne, I just dont feel any bump or irritation. My skin is the most sensitive you can find that I dont use any alcohol based products. Its gentle, smells like heaven, and I think you wont need daily make up with this. Nive glow and shine. You can always wipe it a bit onceabsorbed if you dont like the shiny look.I do.I just cant imagine what this can do to your skin ona daily regimen. And the smell oh so good.
lease reply and lt me know how it works for you.

ATTENTION: Dont buy just any product stating cocoa butter. It will have other oils aditives aromas and alcohol that may irritate your skin or agravate acne. Find the raw cocoa butter,it will take you some time but its worth it. You dont need any extra oil vitamin added cocoa alone will rejuvenate your face trust me

Turmeric
Posted by Holly (La, California) on 07/27/2010

I've had acne since I can remember. I've been on every drug available pretty much, up to and including accutaine/isotrenin. I was fed up and about to go back for more Big Pharma when I found out about this site, and I have to say, this is probably my favorite remedy. I make a paste with about 1/2 tsp turmeric, 1/2 tsp honey and 1/2 tsp hydrogen peroxide. I leave it on for about 10 minutes. Yes, it makes my face yellow, and yes, I have to work to get it off - I usually use a face scrub and more hydrogen peroxide - but it's worth it. My skin is more toned, smaller pores, acne flares dried up a little. And what's more, my turmeric is old and has been sitting in my pantry for a good 10 years or so, and I still get good results. Imagine if it was fresh!

Vitamin C

Vitamin C and youthful skin: I knew someone who used to take Vitamin C crystals several times a day. He looked so young and his skin was always glowing and healthy. He was 40 at the time and played sports so he was in the sun a lot. He told me the he took the vitamin C for a lot of reasons but a bonus was that it worked on the collegan in the skin. He explained it this way. If your skin is the bricks, the collagen would be the morter between the bricks. As you age the mortar (Collagen) breaks down and things start to sag. But the vitamin C works to keep that collagen firm. Naturally I started taking the Vitamin C right away. This was over 12 years ago. I take Ester C, and have gradually increased my dosage up to 5000 mgs a day. I will take 2 500 mg capsules upon waking, then with all three meals, then at bedtime. This amount works for me and I learned a lot about it from reading the works of Linus Pauling. I found that I was the one who didn't get all of the virus's and colds going around. I used to get sore throats all the time, no matter what the season, which sometimes led to wicked strept throat. No more. I'm sure this is because of the Ester C. I'm almost 51, and no one has guessed my age to be in my 40s yet. I keep my age to myself but not the benefits of vitamin C!

Tibicos

Tibicos: (Chinese mushroom, kefir) cured my constipation, blemishes on cheeks .

I haven't heard of anyone posting anything on Tibicos also known as (Chinese mushroom, kefir)

Little bit of info: The Chinese mushroom was sent to Mexico by Mother Teresa from Calcutta with the desire to help to cure persons, especially those with few resources or living in remote places where there are no doctors or medicines. It is good for arthritis, migraines, cancer, heart, digestive system, liver, muscles, nerves, eyes, skin, lungs, kidneys, and blood. In addition it keeps body temperature regulated, and drinking it helps alcoholics to quit.

Well anyway, I gave it a try after my mom urged me to drink it. I drank the brew and noticed that my constipation that I had been dealing for months went away. It totally cleans out my system. I also noticed that the blemishes that I have had on my cheeks for many years are starting to fade. I could barely notice them now. I just started drinking the brew about 3 weeks ago. My skin looks radiant. A friend just asked me the other day what I was doing to my skin because it was just glowing. I've always had dry flaky skin and to get a compliment like that was just awesome. Anyway, just wanted to share what it did for me. I think that people should know about it.

Tomatoes

Tomatoes (Remedy): I have recently been made aware of the benefits of tomatoes. For facial skin: I was told to cut a slice of tomatoe and rub it on my clean face before going to be and wash off in the morning. The results are amazing it is closing my pores, it has demolished the acne on my face almost inmediately, cleared my face tone and texture. I rub it all over including my mouth and eyes, my skin is looking fantastic.

For hair loss, shine and thickness and growth, I was told to puree fresh tomatoes and apply to clean hair, preferably leave it on overnite and wash off in the morning. It is really messy and I have noticed the first time lost of shine and less breackage, however it being so messy I have not stuck to the regimen wich should be twice a week. The person that told me about this had a problem with her hair thinning and acne, she swears by it and has beautiful hair and skin. Also was told drink it for overall good health, processing it through a juicer by itself or with other vegetables, I will do so, as soon as get the juicer and write back.

Multiple Remedies

Taking one tablespoon of flax seed oil (an omega 3 essential oil, meaning we cannot create it within ourselves) internally twice a day, and/or using ground flax seeds in smoothies, hot cereals, on salads and veggies will moisturize your skin from the inside out. It will take several months of taking it internally on a consistent basis to see a difference in your skin because your body will address its nutritional needs before it will address the skin. Beauty starts on the inside.

Be sure to store either the oil or the seeds in the fridge or freezer to prevent them from going rancid, which this oil does easily. This is also a good preventative against breast cancer.

Also, flax seed oil is an excellent moisturizer and healing agent used topically on the skin. I am experimenting with this oil in making my own lotions and creams. I remember using Noxzema on my face as a teenager and the compliments I got after using it to clear up a few zits. One of the main natural ingredients in Noxzema is linseed oil, aka flax seed oil.

Something else you can do is make a cream using shea nut or cocoa butter instead of coconut oil. Coconut oil is recommended as a moisturizer for those with oily skin. You can take 1 cup of nut butter, melt and add 1/2 cup of another oil like apricot kernal, rosehip seed oil, flax seed oil or jojoba oil plus a teaspoon of vitamin E oil as a preservative. Simmer only or use a double boiler so you don't destroy the healing properties of the butters and oils, then pour into jars for use. This thins the butter and adds other oils for more skin nutrients. The key in applying any cream or lotion on the skin is to apply it to damp skin to seal in the moisture.

Another thing to do that's highly recommended is to a body scrub with an oil and either salt or sugar or both added. In a container, add about 1/2 of the salt or sugar and add enough oil to cover about 1/4 inch above the mixture. This exfoliates the dead skin off so the water from bathing and the oils or creams applied after have a chance to penetrate into the skin. A few drops of an essential oil like rose, lavender, frankincense, carrot seed, or jasmine for dry skin will scent the cream and add healing properties to it.

Make sure you are drinking plenty of pure clean water to flush the body and rehydrate. Not drinking enough will lead to dry skin.

One last suggestion. Do an internal cleanse like Dr.Natura's Colonix internal cleansing system. I was amazed at what this product did for me, and I have written about this on a thread for heavy metal cleansing. The benefits go way beyond cleansing heavy metals. Getting rid of the accumulated gunk on your insides helps you absorb nutrients needed for your health and beauty. There are many testimonies on their website about hair, skin and nail improvements from this cleanse among many other things.

I love the suggestion about the AC vinegar. I've been researching homemade skin, body and hair care recipes and I would like to try that out. My only problem is that I do not have a bathtub. Would slathering it on my body with a sponge in the shower have the same effect?

Blessings and good luck!

Anti-Aging Remedies
Posted by Cayita (Welland, Ontario) on 08/18/2012

I went exactly through the same experience. I read that after you are done with your turmeric mask (it doesn't really matter what else you put in it) you need to apply gram flour ((also known as besan flour, chickpea flour and garbanzo flour) on your face. It will take all the turmeric residue away. You can also put it within the turmeric mask, it won't stain that way :)

Anti-Aging Remedies
Posted by Sandy (Il, Usa) on 02/26/2015

I will tell you how to use the turmeric. I grew up with this herb, being an Indian.

For mask:

  • 1/2 tsp of turmeric (you will find it any indian store) but you will be better off buying organic from any health food store
  • 2 tsp of milk cream or any heavy milk cream or 1 tsp of sour cream
  • 1 tsp of chik pea flour(you will find it any indian store.

Mix it and leave it for 10 minutes

In India, even the new born is given this scrub everyday before while shower. Do not add any oil to this. Leave it on your face for 10 minutes. First wash with cold water. You will still find your face bit yellow then, make a paste of 1 tsp of chikpea flour and two tsp of any milk and again gently scrub your face and wash with cold water.

Hi there, this worked for our family. There's this white fungus mushroom that we buy and we add it to our soup or other dishes twice a week. Also make sure to make a stock from beef bones or chicken bones with all the cartilages included. Consume the broth and the mushrooms. They are both high in collagen. Keeps the skin tight and supple.

EC: Hi Nina! Are you referring to common white button mushrooms? Thank you for your great post!

Castor Oil

Carole Maggio has a facial exercise program called "Facercise" that I use that made me look amazing. I'm in the entertainment industry, so you have to look your best at all times as people are cruel and merciless LOL! You can buy her book at her website for 10 bucks or so and most libraries have it.

You can also use castor oil as a base for makeup. Even though it is thick, you can apply it thinly on a clean face. Give it a minute or two to absorb, then apply makeup. You can even blot it a bit if it still feels too thick. I think it helps with overall complexion and possibly keeps some of the "questionable" makeup ingredients from absorbing.

Lifestyle Choices
Posted by Soph (Los Angeles, Usa) on 02/16/2011

The best skin softner, virgin coconut oil. I take flax seed oil, hyaluronic acid and vitamin C. Which does wonders. I think inner peace and low stress in life is important. I have a yoga ( which reverse aging process according to my teacher) & meditation practice. Studies indicate stress is known to be one of the main reasons for premature aging and disease. Womens health is compromised when under stress. Studies show that men benefit more from marriage, than women. The generalized statement, "you haven't lived till you have had kids, " is not applicable in this day and age. Studies show higher the education of a women, the less likely women are to have children perhaps education opens doors to new found opportunities that once remained shut to women. Many times these thoughts may not enter your mind about the worlds carrying capacity being exceeded and social responsibility.

Until you travel to places where the population has exceeeded the billionth mark. And you see children living in filth, poverty, uneducated, begging and having to work in factories. I once worked in field where I saw a high percentage of people that should NEVER ever be allowed to have kids. I will not go into the details but the end effect was children suffering. Children are beautiful gift and they deserve love, stability, security, and both a mother & father that are healthy, employed and present.

It is an interesting fact that a new generation of women are not choosing marriage or motherhood. Many are focusing on building meaningful lives in other ways. I think to me life is all about making the right choices for all of the right reasons. Women are very fortunate today that we now have choices, it wasn't that long ago that are choices were severly limited

I am amazed people! I had old depressed acne scars on my face and was very discolored. Four days after doing the first of five Fraxel laser resurfacing treatments, I broke out in new acne and sandpaper type bumps under the surface of my skin. I stopped using the creams the Doctor gave me and went to this routine:

I wash my face in plain baking soda, then I put raw organic honey, cinnamon, sea salt, a splash of lemon juice and a splash of ACV in the palm of my hand-mix it together and spread it on my face.I leave it on ten or so minutes while I drink a Tbls. or so of ACV in water, rinse my mouth in baking soda and brush my teeth. Then I rinse my face off in tepid water and dry.

I have a spritz bottle that I filled half with lemon juice and half with ACV and a little distilled water so it wouldn't sting and I spray my face with that.

Then I have another bottle filled with Lavender, tea tree, grapeseed and helychrisum oils that I spray on and let air dry.

I cannot tell you people what a miracle this is! My face is looking beautiful! It cleared up the acne and surface bumps in less than two days. I wake up to tight, smooth soft skin. My tone and texture are amazing. I never wear makeup anymore. I swear by this stuff!!! I love also what the fraxel is doing for my scars and color. I have only had one treatment so far and the results will take longer to be complete, but I will never use anything on my face again that you can't eat. I go in for my next laser treatment this week, and the first thing I will put on my red swollen face when I get home is honey. Honey, ACV and Lemon juice are fantastic! My teenage daughter is doing this same routine and has gone from a pimply to perfect complexion in under a week. We love it!
