Calamine Lotion

Like other posters, I have had a chronic itch on my left labia since I was 19 (I'm 54). It started when I was given multiple courses of a strong antibiotic for a presumed stubborn UTI that turned out to be interstitial cystitis. So I assumed it was a yeast infection, but it persisted.

Over the years I've tried many natural remedies with varying results. My gyn even biopsied it (painful! Only result: folliculitis). I had an injection of cortisone (super painful and made me crazy). Sometimes the itching eases up on its own, sometimes it flares up, I don't know why either occurs.

Recently it's been really bad again. I saw an old bottle of calamine lotion in the cabinet and gave it a try (a plus, much less messy than many other topicals). It worked, better than anything I've ever tried. And the relief, while not permanent (so far, I've had to reapply it a time or two) lasts for a while. I can already see improvement in the skin thickening that had developed.

It's cheap, easy and very effective. Worth a try!
