For the Trigeminal Neuralgia heading, I wanted to mention that I've had ATN (constant pain in T2 and T3) for nearly three years due to an incompetent dentist. Prior to diagnosis, I was trying all kinds of things to stop the pain. I discovered just about any kind of peppermint gum (preferably the kind with a hard shell initially) will stop or greatly reduce the pain within a minute or two. As long as I can taste the peppermint flavor as I'm chewing, the pain is reduced. As the flavor goes away, the pain comes back. Now that I've been diagnosed and am on medications, I still chew gum in the afternoons when the pills decide they're not going to work anymore! This is very helpful when I'm driving somewhere and would prefer not to cry. Oh, peppermint flavored mouthwash does the trick, too. Do some major swishing for at least two minutes, and afterwards, your mouth will feel a lot better.

My family is Greek Cypriot and they use herbal medicine alot. My favorite is Mint Tea for stomach ache. If you have a bad stomach ache, boil some drinking water along with dried mint leaves and add some sugar or honey for taste. Make it in the same way you boil regular tea. Strain the tea leaves and drink it as warm as you can. It usually works on contact. I even used this for my son when he was a baby and had colic...not too hot, though.

Years ago I traded plants with strangers and got some chocolate mint plants. I brought them when we moved and share with neighbors and friends. They love the clay soil here and grow like weeds. Neighbors have lots of critters (poop )that draws flies and we have had more than our fair share getting into the house over the years. Last week I had to pot some of my mint to make room in garden space and put it by each door. No flies, no mosquitos and it claims mices : ) don't like it. I put some under my fruit trees and some under my nut trees. Learning new stuff all the time. Chocolate mint tea is nice too. Blessings, Charity

I used to get an average of 4 migraines per week. Now that I regularly visit my chiropractor I very rarely suffer from a migraine. When I do get one, I rub peppermint essential oil on my temples. It helps with both the headache part as well as the nausea.

I would love to know if you've had any further developments on this front. A couple years ago I had myself checked out because I had always had abnormal facial hair (my mom always attributed it to heredity), continual weight loss and gain, irregular periods, etc. But I felt it was something more. An external and internal ultrasound showed that I had ovarian polyps, an earlier stage of PCOS.

At that time I had maintained a healthier lifestyle (diet and exercise) with little processed foods and simple sugars out of habit rather than restriction, which had held the polyps at bay. That has changed within the past year and I have noticed a difference on every front. Spearment tea sounds like a wonderful idea and I would love to give it a go so I am thoroughly interested in your findings.

Drinking cold peppermint water works instantly for me whenever I get motion sickness or nausea from eating bad food. Also, whenever I'm chained to the bathroom because of the flu, peppermint water helps to keep me from vomiting.

One or two drops of Peppermint extract in water. The ratio of peppermint to water really doesn't matter- I generally like my peppermint water strong (1 drop of peppermint in 3 table spoons of water), but everyone else in my family prefers diluted stuff (2 drops in 6 ounces). Nevertheless, it will still work.

Peppermint extract is available in the spice section of most of the grocery stores I go to.

My armpits smell horrible so I read on net that boiling mint leaves and having bath with it works great and can cure body odor and it was a miracle for me but my problem is, for how much time do I have to continue with mint bathing water?? Is there any permanent cure??

I just began getting the symptoms of TN, and began googling my symptons like crazy. I am so thankful to have come across this site. Since I knew peppermint oil helped with headaches, I decided to rub the oil all over the areas that hurt, and it does relieve the pain! I use Dr. Young Living oils or if you want to pay less you can order them from Mountain Rose Oils. (Try and get their highest grade)

I am so thankful to have come across this site, as I am totally against taking drugs. I am going to order the supplements mentioned here. I am thankful to have done the alkaline diet previously for Chronic Fatigue. But fell somewhat off the wagon for the past 6 years. I want to stop this in its track, before it gets worse, so I am back to eating greens, greens, greens, breakfast, lunch and dinner. The good part is, I will finally lose those stubborn 10 lbs I had put on. The book that helped me cure my CF was THE PH MIRACLE. Dr. Robert Young (different from the OIL Dr Young) teaches all disease comes from an overacid diet. I am hoping I have the same success with this TN that I had with CF. I can't imagine what the pain that some of you experience as mine is still mild, with electric feeling shocks thru mostly the left side. It started with a very sharp shooting pain 4 days ago, and immediately I started alkaline and noticed the pain subsided. But I still have the electrical shock thingies. (I had nerve damage on that side from surgery in 2000, but only now is it starting to act up)! Wish I had never had that face lift, LOL.

WARNING!

I recently just tried this remedy. HOWEVER!!! DO NOT PUT IT ON YOUR FACE. I just stopped crying. My face was became so inflamed. When I first applied the peppermint oil to my face, I initially didn't feel anything. By the time I wiped my face with the oil, I felt like my skin was melting off! I tried to remove the oil from my face with water... Big mistake #2. It didn't it just made it worse. My next and final attempt was to use coconut oil. Thank God for that... And although I applied it, I still am unable to remove all the peppermint from my face. I am unsure how this person was able to use this oil, but for me, I never been in so much facial pain in my life. I thought I was going to ask to be taken to the hospital. Never ever ever do this to your face. You'll be extremely sorry.

Most essential oils you should never ever put on pure. They must be diluted in a carrier oil, such as olive oil, or coconut. Plus, be mindful that you're not putting on a fragrance oil instead, as it's definitely not the same thing, but synthetic. Make sure it's essential oil. One more thing. Always do a spot test for 24 hours before putting it on larger areas. Just to make sure you're not allergic.

I was diagnosed with TN [TRIGEMINAL NEURALGIA] about 2 weeks ago. I first notice the pain while putting on my make-up. Later I had pain in my teeth. Went to the dentist and he said nothing was wrong with my teeth. I went to a doctor in Mexico and I told him I had sinus infection. Well he checked me and said there was nothing wrong with my teeth or my sinus and but that he thought it had to do with my face muscle. A week later went the emergency room with the pain and I was diagnosed with TN. I know that TN does not cause paralyses but I feel my lips don't have that puffiness and a lot drier so I use a peppermint chap stick. It funny Peppermint was mention because when I put it on I don't know if it's the smell or what but it calms my pain too. Maybe I will try a peppermint tea.

One thing I notice is you have to get the ENTERIC COATED peppermint oil capsules. I have had really good results by using these and usually one dose is sufficient.

I've had excess facial hair since age 19 (I'm 22). I tried laser hair removal and let me warn all of you LASER MAKES FACIAL HAIR WORSE!! Instead of getting rid of the dark hairs, I now have a peach fuzz, PLUS the darker hair. I've heard of many other woman who have experienced the same thing.

I've been getting electrolysis for almost a year now, on a weekly basis and I'm starting to see results... But it takes a long time!

Anyways, on to mint tea. I read that it helps with excess facial hair, by blocking free testosterone in your body (or something of that nature). I can honestly say that I notice a big difference during the weeks that I drink mint tea daily vs. weeks where I forget. The growth of the dark hair is minimilised considerably.

For anyone battling annoying facial hair, I suggest you try it. You have nothing to lose, as it's delicious and nutritious! I buy plain old peppermint tea bags from the grocery store.

Peppermint tea didn't help me at all. I drank one or two cups a day for a long time and nothing changed. I restarted a few months later and still no result. I quit about 4 years ago.I read that tumeric is good but it can also stain your face, that's why I haven't tried it yet.

I keep a bottle of Peppermint Oil (essential oil) in my pocketbook. You dab the oil on your index finger and middle finger. Then rub it on the same two fingers of the other hand. Close your eyes so the fumes don't irritate your eyes. Rub, in a circular motion, on either side of your head at your temples. Don't be afraid to press hard while rubbing. I haven't taken a headache medicine in years. I am 58. You can get the oil at a health food store.
