My wife had cirrhosis of the liver caused by long term diabetes and some of the medications she has been on. In one month they have drawn 10 liters of fluid off her abdomen. She was in the hospital 5 days while they were determining what was causing it. They sent the fluid off and determined there were no cancer cells. She is 81 years old & has had type II diabetes for the last 13 years and has had to take Lantus shots daily. They removed 4 liters of fluid the first time.

We came home and about a week or so later she started blowing up again. We put her back in the hospital and they drew off over 6 liters this time. They went down through her throat and inspected the liver and made their diagnosis. The doubled the dosage on the water pill she was taking. I talked to the Dr about starting her on Milk thistle and he said that is a great idea because they know it helps the liver. It actually helps the liver rebuild cells.

I also started her on a Turmeric from mega foods called turmeric strength for liver. it also has milk thistle, schisandra berry extract & black pepper. Your body can't process much or the turmeric without black pepper or oil of black pepper.

I also started her on Ginger, yellow dock & dandelion root. After starting this almost two weeks ago, she had actually lost 4 pounds and no more fluid collecting. She is more cognitive, walking better & think on the mend. I give the capsules twice daily.

Doctors have acknowledged for years that milk thistle seed is great for the liver. They refer to it as sylimarin.

Dandelion & yellow dock helps to flush toxins out of the liver.

Hello, what product did you use for the ginger, yellow dock, and dandelion root please. Hope there is a blend.

I used a Swanson product that I purchased from Amazon. Here is the product on Amazon:

So far, after being on Milk thistle there has been no more fluid collecting in the abdomen. After two weeks I put her on just milk thistle that can be purchased at any herb store. Taking too much dandelion & yellow dock can cause loose bowels. I am also giving her Turmeric/black pepper & ginger. So far she is doing much better but time will tell. It normally takes 4 to 6 months for the herbs to show a big difference.
