Here is an interesting article written by a veterinarian in Clearwater, FL....

"The Big Scam: Rabies Vaccination
written by John Fundens, D.V.M.

I would like to give you, the reader, the truth about the so called required vaccinations, particularly rabies. There are two basic forms of law. One is the legal Constitutional and Common law that this country was founded on, and the other is "colorable" law passed by Administrative agencies/bureaucrats who have been given so called authority to pass laws. Black's Law Dictionary 5th Edition defines colorable law as "That which is in appearance only, and not in reality, what purports to be, hence counterfeit, feigned, having the appearance of truth." Yes, I study the law, am a paralegal, and have an extensive law library.

So any and all mandatory rabies vaccination programs are colorable law, in that they have been passed and mandated upon the pet owning public by certain vested interest groups. Who are these groups? First and foremost are veterinarians, in general, and veterinarian medical organizations. Second are the local animal control personnel, bureaucrats and politicians. What are their reasons? GREED, POWER AND CONTROL. Both these large powerful interest groups stand to benefit greatly by having rabies mandated by colorable law.

Veterinarians receive a large percentage of both their gross income and profit from vaccines given in the office. On average vaccines cost 60 to 95 cents per dose and are charged to the client at $15 to $25 per injection and substantially more in the large cities. Therefore, if veterinarians lobby to have a colorable law passed to give rabies vaccine every year that enhances their financial picture.

The veterinary medical societies, by working with other groups and area politicians, are rewarded by increased prestige and professional standing in the community. After all we are protecting you from the dreaded disease rabies, whether it exists or not. Some areas of the country are more enlightened and fortunate to have the rabies vaccine mandated every three years. You can be assured the rise of rabies is never taken into account as to whether the vaccine should be required or not. More on this later. The local government personnel benefit by extending more control over our lives, enriching the public treasury with fees, tags and fines, and giving the appearance that local government is doing something about animal populations, disease and risks to the public. Since rabies vaccines have been mandated, what county or area has seen less dog and cat bites, better animal control, more public awareness and educating of pet owning responsibility, better birth control of unwanted animals, less euthanasia of animals and decreased growth of animal control facilities?

These special groups and lobbies will use any argument, realistic or not, to justify their position. They are excellent at using the media to spread the lies and distortions. Examples: We have increased numbers of dogs biting people, pitbulls attacking and killing children are on the increase, more dogs and cats are running loose terrorizing neighborhoods, killing wildlife and other domestic stock, etc...ad nausaem. The only thing rabies vaccination is for is the protection from rabies virus, all other justifiers for the vaccine fall under human control and exist because there are a certain number of humans, connected to animals, who are irresponsible. Rabies is spread by the bite of an infected animal. The number of dog/cat bite cases in the U.S. that expose humans to rabies is as rare as shark attacks. This low incident rate has nothing to do with mandatory vaccination as the number of cases was low before the mandatory requirement.

Let me give you an example of Pinellas County, FL where my Affinity Clinic is located. I secured information from Pinellas Animal Control through the Freedom of Information Act. The record of animal control starts in 1964. From 1964 to 1978 there were zero cases of dog rabies in the county. Magically in 1978 rabies vaccine was mandated to be given every year and all dogs tagged and licensed. WHY? Well it seems four veterinarians, with animal control bureaucrats, pushed the county board of supervisors to pass a law mandating rabies vaccination every year. There were three local vets and one professor from the State Veterinary College who were behind this. It was interesting reading their letters pushing this law and the minutes of the county meeting. There was talk of dogs biting people (no actual figures given), dogs running loose, animal overpopulation, rabies on the increase in the U.S. (the increase was in wildlife, not dogs), etc.,etc. Not once was the issue discussed that there was no rabies in the county in dogs. To this date there still has not been one case of dog rabies, including the population of dogs whose owners, GOD BLESS THEM, do not vaccinate for rabies. Let's go further.

From 1964 to 1989 there were no cases of rabies in cats in Pinellas County. Magically in 1989 a law was passed mandating rabies vaccination, tags and licenses for all cats. Same tired worn out excuses were used. Since the 1989 law there was one cat with rabies contracted from the bite of a bat. DO YOU READERS REALLY UNDERSTAND WHAT I HAVE JUST STATED? This is standard throughout the Country. No allowance is made for dogs/cats who never leave the house or yard, could never be exposed to rabies under any circumstances, or who are so ill, old or at the end of their life cycle that the rabies vaccine would throw them over the edge. No, all dogs and cats are treated the same because we have the bogeyman, rabies, stalking the streets waiting to strike unprotected dogs and cats.

Is there rabies in this Country? You bet. Are there areas of this Country that have rabies in their wildlife population and do some dogs/cats become infected? You bet. But let's be realistic. Rabies has been on this earth long before man walked here and will be here long after we are gone. The only way to get rid of rabies is to remove mankind and the upper animals susceptible to the virus. Then maybe the virus will die off. It is a self limiting disease in the wild as it is fatal. So the virus has an extremely hard time spreading far and wide.

What is wrong with targeting those areas of the Country that have a problem with rabies using a realistic and specially formulated program that will protect the population at risk? Too logical and the special groups don't make any money. Why not educate the pet owner to the risks and dangers and let them decide whether the immune system damage from rabies vaccination is greater or lesser than contracting the disease. We do have a God given Constitutionally secured right to LIFE, LIBERTY, AND THE PURSUIT OF HAPPINESS. Public health officials always have the right to mandate emergency health care procedures in case the public, in general does not respond properly. But why should every day, month and year be as if an emergency or crisis exists? And why should we have more and more control of our lives taken from us?

The vaccines, particularly rabies, are a political and economic scam being forced upon pet owners because they do not know the truth. Rabies, nationwide, is nowhere near the problem the veterinarians, media, politicians and bureaucrats would like you to believe. If you wish more of the truth go to your local city or county government building and look up the codes and statutes concerning vaccines and rabies. Get figures from local animal control for rabies in dogs, cats and wildlife in your area. Then you can start to fight back, take control of your life, and protect your pet from the only dreaded disease that is important--special interest groups pushing their program leading to vaccine induced damaged immune systems. Only you can set yourself free.

Current Veterinary Therapy by Kirk, the textbook bible for veterinarians in general, has an article on canine and feline vaccines by two researchers. Near the end of the article is a paragraph called Annual Vaccinations. It states "The practice of annual vaccinations lacks scientific validity or verification. There is no immunological requirement for annual vaccinations. The practice of annual vaccinations should be considered of questionable efficacy unless it is used as a mechanism to provide an annual physical examination or is required by law." Sure, if we can't manipulate you with annual vaccinations let's pass a law to get you into the office. Nice trick!

Well reader, it is your choice. I can only hope to stimulate you to look and go further. You don't have to take this suppression. Fight back. The only thing you have to lose is your freedom and you have already lost a great deal of it. I can fight with you but I can't do it alone."

Our beautiful 5 month old Golden Retriever was a healthy pick of the liter and a very active puppy until the day she was given a 9 way shot and rabies shot that the vet told us was necessary if we needed her to be fixed later. The first day of the shot she was lethargic and could not use her front leg where the shot was administered (shoulder). Our puppy is 7 months old now and her condition has worsened and moved to the back hips. She has trouble sitting and getting up, has a hunched back and is in pain. (No other dog in the liter has any problems as we are in contact with the other six owners). We took her to the same vet today and they said it was the worse case of hip displacia they have seen for such a young dog. They denied that it could be the shots, but there is no doubt in our minds it was caused in part at least by the 10 "poisons" that were given all at the same time. We are considering putting her down as we do not want to see her in any more pain. 2 months ago she was beautiful, intelligent and very active but since that day of shots her hips are now twisted and her back is hunched. It breaks our hearts. Not sure what to do but pray.

We took our 10yr old Poodle/Beagle mix in for required rabies shots 2/22/18. He was perfectly happy and healthy. About 2wks after shot his bark became raspy sounding, but we thought it was from him barking outside with his brothers playing. Then 3/20 evening lost control of his back legs and his appetite not normal; had to feed scrambled eggs. He also wasn't drinking as much. By 3/21 morning no appetite, not able to stand even with help eyes glassy.

When we took him to vet they first said he appeared to be trying to be passing. His eyes were not glassy now, but he was limp like a rag doll. They initially ran bloodwork for heartworm, lymes, kidney function...all fine. They did the pinch tests on him because they said well he may have a brain injury(my son has one, so I know a lot about them already) he passed all the pinch tests and didn't have any falls or injuries to cause a brain injury anyway. When I mentioned the rabies vaccination and that I felt this was related; all I got was no his reaction would have happened immediately. So, $550 at that vets and off to vetER for weekend for continued IV, steroid and antibiotics in case it is some kind of tick bourne disease. They did do chest xray lungs are clear. His heart was a little enlarged but he had a murmur.

I know in my own heart it is the rabies vaccination that was given to him on the 22 of Feb that caused this with him. He may not have been a case of immediate reaction, but they can't explain what is going on and I know how he was and is acting. I see it in his sweet little eyes too...he is a fighter...but how do I counteract what was done a month ago when I can't get anyone to listen? Never again will I give any of my babies shots.

i just rescued a dog from the pound, and of course they had to jack her full of vaccines.she was a two out of five on the health scale since she had just had puppies, was skinny and someone had shaved her down in the middle of winter, probably because she had mite infestation. Approximately two weeks after her shots, she came down with a bad case of kennel cough. Guess what one of the shots was? Bordatella. Over the past 30 years I have had four dogs and four cats, none of which were ever vaccinated nor were they ever sick. Animal vaccines are stupid and useless. BTW- I didn't vaccinate my own child after she got sick after six week “well baby” shots in 1994 and I never missed a day of work to stay home with a sick baby. She Never had an ear infection or needed antibiotics for anything,

3 year old shih tzu, went from my absolute baby (I could barely sit down before she was on my lap or shoulder) always excited, happy, snuggly dog to a shaky, cautious, scared, sleepy, unhappy dog that acts like she doesn't know anyone 3 days after a rabies shot. If she gets a treat, she snaps it out of your hands, she has slowed her eating of her food. I'm so worried that this is how she is going to stay, I can't find any info about it wearing off. I don't want to get any more shots for her. This has terrified me. My other shih tzu is fine, it was just another day to him.

Hey Sparky3377,

You might consider a holistic vet that can repair vaccine damage - try finding one here: https://www.ahvma.org/find-a-holistic-veterinarian/

From the interwebs: "Many people automatically give the remedy Thuja after a vaccination, but it's not the only remedy indicated for vaccine reactions. Silica is also a very important remedy in this regard. However, it's important to remember that treating a reaction to vaccines is no different from treating anything else with homeopathy – the best remedy to give is the one that matches the symptom picture the dog is displaying.... That said, the vaccine reactions that dogs commonly experience often indicate Thuja or Silica. Some of these symptoms include:

  • Generals, convulsions, vaccination after: Silica, Thuja
  • Mentals, anxiety, vaccination after: Thuja
  • Eye, inflammation, vaccination after: Thuja
  • Stomach, nausea, vaccination after: Silica
  • Rectum, diarrhea, vaccination after: Silica, Thuja
  • Respiration, asthmatic, vaccination after: Thuja
  • Cough, vaccination after: Thuja
  • Extremities, paralysis, lower limbs, vaccination after: Thuja
  • Extremities, swelling general, upper limbs, vaccination after: Silica, Sulphur, Thuja (in dogs, this generally corresponds to a lump at the injection site)
  • Skin, eczema, vaccination after: Mezereum (thick, hard scabs), Sulphur (red, itchy eruptions)

When treating reactions to a rabies vaccine, Belladonna and Lyssin (also known as Hydrophobinum) should be considered. Belladonna can be indicated if the dog suddenly develops a high fever, especially if he/she has glassy eyes with dilated pupils. This is also a remedy to consider if the dog develops aggressive or compulsive behaviour (e.g. turning in circles repeatedly), or seizure activity.

Lyssin (also known as Hydrophobinum) is the first remedy to think of if the dog develops a fear of water (which can manifest as refusing to drink) or is agitated by the sound of running water."

Our city limits require a rabies vaccination or else you get a nasty-gram from the Humane Society. Three strikes and you can no longer own pets. Anyway, that being said, I get a rabies titer every year for my dachshund. He has chronic pancreatitis and the rabies titer is allowed in lieu of a current vaccination.

We bypass everything but the rabies shot. ONLY because its the law. The first set of shots they gave my dog almost killed her at 6 months old, which affected her immune system. I won't do it again. I'm also sorry we got her chipped. Researched the chip, read about the frequency in which alot of dogs are getting cancer in and around the injection site. My vet knows not to recomend all those shots they so eagerly sell animal owners.

Hey Meg,

You might consider finding a holistic vet for the vaccine damage - that would be my first choice. Barring that, Google 'homeopathic remedy vaccine reaction' or similar searches and see what you can find. Most common homeopathic remedies are Silicea and Thuja - and I would not hesitate to dose either at this stage. I would also dose activated charcoal and milk thistle, along with acidophillus and other probiotics to establish good gut health. Please report back!

Ok, last Thursday we had our 1 1/2 year old female Blue Heeler spayed and after the spay, the vet gave her the 3 year Rabies Vaccine and 3 year DAPv Nobivac. I had originally said several times beforehand that I wanted to do the titers, but they said she needed these vaccinations and then do titers next time. I also stated that wouldn't it be allot for her system with already having being spayed to have these vaccinations on top of it all the same day. They said they have done it many times with no issues. 2 days after the spay and vaccinations, she started acting very tired, continual temp around 103.3-103.9, not lethargic, but quite weak. She could barely finish going #2, as it was too tiring. She does have a good appetite, but doesn't want to drink water. I've had her back to the vet yesterday, they looked her over and they took blood. Should get results today. I'm kicking myself for letting them give her the shots. Probably could of avoided all of this and to know that I did it to her when she was perfectly fine. Other people need to read up on titer tests, as many don't know about them and the fact that they can kill an older dog by over vaccinating. It's true. I have read people say that the titers are expensive....but, they are not. The vet is over charging them. I only pay around $60 if that for a titer on rabies.

A natural vet just told me that in the awful state of NY that even here you can get a letter to not vac your dog. She does't get hers done. However it's all or none in NY so I won't be able to get out of it for my dogs. but the next ones I will. Course I will be in NC by then out of this awful state!

Hey Megan!

The *only* vaccination required by law in NY and all other states is Rabies. You are not required by law to vaccinate for anything else, however boarding kennels may have a policy requirement that your pet have the standard vaccinations and kennel cough prior to accepting your business.

Most states DO have a rabies exemption or waiver IF vaccinating the animal with the rabies vaccine will endager or adversely affect the pet's health or life. The waiver can only be obtained with a written letter from a licensed veterinarian.

Rabies Titers:

Because of bad vaccination experiences, I had rabies titers done on my adopted 8-year-old Border Collie mix in place of the shot. Her titers count was much higher than the law requires, I'm sure because of having a shot (unnecessary) every year before I adopted her. Doing titers is very expensive but it's worth it to me to save my dog. Because of the high titer count, Animal Control no longer requires that my dog have an annual shot to get her license.

Lump by Injection Site

I'm reporting that my 4 pound, 5 month old female yorkie who was in perfect health received her rabies vaccine & now has a dime sized lump by injection site. It's been 2 weeks, just noticed it calling vet tomorrow. The male has no lump but has been much more aggressive since receiving the shot. They received aluminum free, I asked for this based on other recommendations but unsure how to handle this now.

I had my 2 13 year old maltese vaccinated for rabies by our county yesterday. One dog seems to be fine and the other was limping yesterday so I soaked his leg in warm epsom salt water. He didn't eat anything yesterday or today and has been sleeping both days. He developed diarrhea today. I gave him some peptobismol which usually makes him feel better but it didn't. I gave him a half pill of Imodium just a few minutes ago. Now he has vomited. I am pissed beyond words. I looked up reactions to this damn shot and now am so worried, so tomorrow we make a trip to the vet. I pray that he will be fine until then. They were vaccinated with the 3 year one. That's it for shots for them I say. In May my vet prescribed ear drops for an ear infection each one had. Both went deaf, the sick one now has partial hearing and the other has none. After I noticed I read the paper inside the prescription and low Andy behold, it stated at it may cause temporary or permanent hearing loss. Are you kidding me

Hi, My lab Belle had her first 3 year rabies vaccine on the past Sunday. She was fine up until Wednesday she my daughter noticed she was limping on her left leg. (The vaccine was given on the right side). I called the vet and took her in today, Friday. They said it could be a torn CCL. But she didn't injure herself, when she got up from lying down she was limping. I didn't bring this up with the vet because I just thought of this. We have an appointment with a different vet on Monday for a second opinion. I will bring this thought up with him. Any thoughts are appreciated!

I have a 2 lb., 3 mo. old yorkie. She is very small. I was thinking about not getting her any shots but she has had her first set of puppy shots. I also wanted to refuse her to get a rabies shot. Am I doing her more harm by avoding these shots which I know can kill? My worry is that she is very tiny. Also she only goes out on our deck to do her duties and then its back inside. No walks or any public contact. Am I doing the right thing?

A rabies shot is the law in most, if not all, states. New puppies need the following:
* The first set of shots at 9 weeks
* intervet puppy distemper parvo only
* Second set at 15 weeks same vaccine
* Rabies no earlier than 6 mos of age
* One year boosters same vaccine
* Rabies as mandated by law -- You can request your vet to run a Titers every 3 years.

What is a titer test?A titer test is a simple blood test that measures a dog or cat's antibodies to vaccine viruses (or other infectious agents). For instance, your dog may be more resistant to a virus whereas your neighbor's dog may be more prone to it. Titers accurately assess protection to the so-called "core" diseases (distemper, parvovirus, hepatitis in dogs, and panleukopenia in cats), enabling veterinarians to judge whether a booster vaccination is necessary. All animals can have serum antibody titers measured instead of receiving vaccine boosters. The only exception is rabies re-vaccination. There is currently no state that routinely accepts a titer in lieu of the rabies vaccine, which is required by law.

There are commercially available vaccine titer tests for dogs that can be performed in a laboratory or also in the veterinarian's office for faster results. Several commercial and university veterinary diagnostic labs and Hemopet offer reliable titer testing for dogs, cats and horses.

Farrah
He most likely has some heavy metals and a virus. The rabies shot replicates the symptoms.
I would give him a tiny pinch of cilantro, 2x a week to gently remove the metals. A smidge of non gmo lecithin. That will help his liver.
An antiviral remedy we gave our dogs was l lysine. Open a capsule of 500mg and give 1/4 of the powder in a ball of liver sausage. 4x a day, for 3 days
