I have a Doberman who is 6 weeks old I gave him his first shot myself. It seemed like 24 hours after the shot his poo got runny but was still eating and drinking water. But a couple hours after that he started puking just his food. Then he didn't want any water or food-was weak. He slept through the night had a couple runny poos. This morning he started drinking again and even took a couple of bites of food at 3:00 today it will have been 48 hrs since his shot. He stopped puking but still seems under the weather. Should I take him to the vet?

Read up on vaccincations. They are 16% of vet profits. Overvaccination is something called vaccinosis. A DISEASE! Read all you can about what your pets really need. We humans don't get vaccinations every year. Titers should be checked to see if your pet really needs that yearly vaccinations.

I had a litter of pups get their first vaccinations. Exactly three weeks later all of them had back to back seizures for 48 hours straight. Horrible seizures where they ran across the floor and would slam into the wall. It was terrifying. I looked it up and found that lepto will cause seizures 21 days after vaccination. Just like my pups. They had seizures for several years until we found out that fish oil would stop them. Within a few weeks of giving them fish oil daily the seizures became so mild that the pups would just shake. Eventually they stopped completely. My pups lived to 14 and 15 years old. They never got another vaccination after they were one!
EC: Thank you so much Kay. Your feedback has been cross-posted to the Pets/Seizures page.

I am so very sorry about your baby. It should never have happened. Rabies vaccine, unless you live in the hills around a lot of wild animals I would just plain not do. I do not know if there are any "nosode" vaccines for rabies but there more than likely are for other cat diseases. We had a dog when I was young that contracted distempter B4 he got vaccinated & he survived to a ripe old age. I also had a kitten once that I was quite sure I was treating for distemper, tho it was a bit touch and go due to the youngness of the kitten, but he survived also. I feel your pain, anger and frustration. Wish I could bring your baby back for you. Vaccines are a #1 money maker for most veterinarians, unfortunately. Even the true protocol has changed much over the last few years concerning how often to do vaccines and after an animal is a certain age, they don't need more but should be good for life. Also facts most vets do not share with us! Hope you feel better.

I had a 8 year old sheltie. She had continuous ear infections that were treated with steroids and antibiotics which made her comfortable for a week or two but the swelling, redness and pus from her ears never went away. The vet finally talked us into her having a ear canal ablation (removal of the ear drum) on her right ear. She was doing better and on her two week post surgery check up the vet gave the yearly shots to her. Two days later she was admitted to the University of MN hospital, placed in an oxygen kennel, IV's, and died 4 days later. She should never have received shots when her immune system was healing... The shots killed her. I currently have two shelties, they eat a raw diet, and only received their first baby shots. They will not get shots unless a titer test is done and the results are that it is necessary. I have read a comparison that by giving animals their yearly shots it is like giving humans their shots that are given their first year of life every year. It's sad to think that by trying to provide the best care for our fur babies we are slowly killing.

My 10 yr old cat went into renal failure within 2 days from receiving the FVRCP booster. The vet has been giving this booster on a yearly basis. She is currently undergoing IV treatment at the vet's office. Prognosis not good.

I have a 5 and a half month old Pit pup. She got spayed, her rabies shot, and her 3rd round of puppy shots all in the same day. When I picked her up they told me I could try and feed her at 7pm, and that she may throw up from the Anastasia. Well she didn't want to eat or drink anything that night and she was throwing up foamy substance. However, the next morning her face was extremely swollen she could barely open her eyes. She still refused to eat or drink anything. And now she was throwing up yellow bile everywhere. She had heavy breathing as well. She had trouble going to the bathroom, she would sit there and squat and nothing would come out. No bowel movements at all. I had to rush her to the hospital and they said it as most likely from the rabies vaccination. I was lucky to get her there so soon because they explained to me that it was a severe, life threatening case.

Vaccinations? do I let my cat go without it or with it. If they get rabies or distemper how long do they live. My cat was 1.5 years old and I took her to be vaccinated. My cat, the one good thing in my life I loved, died within 10 minutes from these vaccinations. Then I find out oh this happens sometime, thanks a lot for telling me that after the fact. These past few days have been the hardest of my life. So maybe one day rabies or distemper might have set in. But I know she would be here now if I hadn't have done it. She basically died for nothing and I'm having a really hard time with it. I'll never trust a vet again.
EC: So sorry for your loss, James.

My chihuahua was given her puppy vaccinations at 6 weeks and then the next one weeks later. After the second one, she went into shock and then came down with epilepsy, allergies to everything and other problems. I actually got my vet to tell me (since he wasn't the one who administered the shot) that all of this was due to the vaccination. She lived for 8 years, with a ton of problems and then we finally lost her to a massive seizure that ultimately took her ability to use her legs and then pick up her head. Vaccinosis is very real and any shots should not be done without a titer to see if they even need the shot.

I'm a breeder of Chihuahuas and have been giving my own shots for over 9 yrs and have never had a bad reaction until now. I gave my 3 litters of 8 week old puppies shots and 4 to my 15 week old. A puppy left me on Friday [ 6 days after shot} and was fine , went to vet & checked out fine next AM I get a call and puppy is about dead. They took to emergency vet and she tested positive for parvo I called emergency vet and told them I gave shot on the 25th and he was at vet day before and was fine could this be a reaction to the shot and could she test positive due to shot only 6 days earlier. She said no to all. Well against me begging the new owner & vet they put this puppy to sleep without trying to save. But now I knew I was in for it at my shop. . . Sat 6 days after shot all were good. Sunday 7th day first one showed signs. His eyes looked sad to me, I started on fluids & antibiotics then took to vet on Monday. After 5 days pup died, Monday had two more get sick. Under vets supervision I treated at home. Well did not stop there- every pup I gave the shot to got sick, and the signs were nothing like you hear about- no bloody stool, no smell , no diarrhea , and only 3 threw up. I kept a close eye on them and when I noticed their eyes look sad they were started on treatments. I saved 2 little 2lb babies and feel very lucky, I lost 7 and no 2 were alike as far as when or how they passed. I think two passed from heart failure, 2 just did not have the will to survive. The 2 that made it , took them 12 days to come around after laying down for that many days. I called the co. where shots were made and they made a report & have a case #. It was turned in to keep track of the vet there who also said "highly unlikely" and she took down all the symptoms etc from me. And asked did they run a fever. No not one did. My vet thinks I had bought a bad batch of shots and I feel the same. I just want other breeders NOT to buy the shots from the batch that I have. This was very heartbreaking and costly for me. Not sure if I can post the batch # here or the co. that made them. I will never give my puppies a 5-way CV again!

My sister sent me this site, as I was telling her about my little Bichon that got his shots in Cordele, Ga from a Vet who gave him the rabies, distemper and parvo shot. We left the Vet's office and silly sam's breathing increased rapidly, then his eyes were dialated and he whined funny like he was really not feeling well. I rushed him back to the vet and he watched him for a short time and he seemed to be okay. I have never seem him react to any shots before this happened. I need to have them given separate or do something different next time.

Catherine. . . Rabies titers absolutely exist. In fact, I think most dogs have to have this done before they can be transported to another country. If your vet is saying there isn't a titer. . . You need to find a new vet.

Lydie, this is why I do not do the vaccines any longer. All of my cats are indoor and my dog goes in the back yard and that's it. My little dog used to get sick for days from the vaccination and one of my cats would get sick for almost a week. So, no more. My dog is 11 years old. All of the bad stuff that we put in our pets is why they get cancer and everything else. Vets will say it is not, but it is. . . What else is a vet going to say?

Two days ago, I had my cat's yearly vaccinations done for rabies and RCPCh FeLV. Until the moment of vaccination, she was very active, talkative, ate and drank normally, walked, ran and jumped often, played and was generally alert and completely healthy. After vaccination, she immediated became lethargic, stopped moving at all or moved slowly by limping low to the ground as if in pain and only over a short distance, would not eat, drink or relieve herself. Yesterday, 24 hours later, I returned her to the vet. She confirmed the cat had a fever and was swollen at the injection site "probably" as a reaction to vaccination. She put her on an intervenous solution for 20mn to hydrate her and gave her an anti-inflammatory shot saying she would immediately become herself again. Today, day 3 since vaccination, she is not herself, she is hardly better, still moving with difficulty and lethargic, eating and drinking very little and moving hardly ever. I was told to bring her back today if symptoms persisted. I will be doing so today. I am very bothered that this should occur. My cat is an indoor only cat with no other animals around, therefore not exposed to these diseases and I regret accepting the vets recomendation to vaccinate.

Julie, I agree! My little chihuahua mix is over 11 years old now and He has not had vaccines in years because he would get sick for days when he got the rabies. I am scared of the stuff! Think about it, every year people put so much stuff into the bodies of their pets. And, you hear alot of animals getting cancer and all kinds of things. People don't do this to them selves so, why do they do it to their pets every year?Little bodies cannot handle all of the bad stuff that is put into them like that! ! Just my opinion. . .

My vet told me that you cannot run a titer for rabies, but you can for most other vaccinations. Is this true? I wonder why you can't? I did have my golden retriever's levels also tested (except for rabies) and she too had high levels of resistance after 3 years of not having any shots. However, I did give her a 3 years rabies shot. I am thinking she won't need another one again.

I own and run an extremely successful hydrotherapy pool for dogs. This means over the period of 14 years I have treated thousands of dogs. Very many, including my previous dog, Monty, have suffered many and numerous side effects from over vaccination. These range from weakness in legs, auto-immune diseases, such as arthritis, skin complaints with rashes and skin turning black, hot spots, hair loss, nerve damage and brain damage. I, amongst, a growing number, including a long list of alternative vets in England, believe dogs do not need vaccines throughout their lives. When I realised my beloved Monty was vaccine damaged, I had teeter tests performed, this shows the anti bodies in the dogs blood. Every year Monty had high levels of resistance to parvo, distemper, para-influenza & distemper. The test does not show lepto. I believe you should wait till puppy is 12 weeks, so the immune system is better able to cope, before giving vaccines and after the initial 2 sets, 2 weeks apart, then they are protected for life. No flea or tick treatments either they are another form of toxins our dogs systems can do without. Go with your instinct on all matters concerning your dog and remember to question always. . . Whose interest is it in. . Your dogs or your vets.

If you look up what is in vaccines you will find they contain a cocktail of toxic things and many animals and people have had bad and lasting side effects, have even died from them. Get activated charcoal tablets and give a few(dosage dependant on weight) every day for a week or two after any vaccine, 2hrs before or after eating. It should help pull the toxins out. Make sure to drink/provide lots of water and take fiber.

MY little Sweetie (Shit-zu)received a second shot for Lyme's disease. Her shoulder and right leg became swollen and she had trouble walking and playing. It took a week for her to return to normal. I will not give her the shot next year. I will use natural oils to prevent ticks and fleas on her.

To Tink from Springfield, MA (regarding the side effects her french bulldog had during vaccinations) DO NOT, under any circumstances, revaccinate your dog. Your vet is an idiot for even considering such a thing. If your dog had a reaction that severe... the next one will be the killer. Epinephrine is very powerful and causes tachycardia which can cause complication. You do not administer ephinephrine unless you need it for anaphylaxis shock. I have never in my life heard of anyone administering it as an anticipation of anaphylaxis. Usually, the medical advices is to AVOID the things that cause the reaction... not play around with them. Based on the advice your vet gave you, I would report them to higher authorities and make sure your dog gets exempt from any further vaccinations.

Pet Vaccinations and MRSP
I am registering to inform you of a dog vaccine reaction. My dog was rescued in 2008 and she had vaccine reactions to her Leptospirosis vaccine and DA2P three year vaccine in June of 2009. My dog had to large lumps at each injection site. The one was the size of a golf ball and the other was the size of a half orange. She apparently had a suppressed immune system following treatment for ear infections with Prednizone and antibiotics. A couple weeks later she contracted MRSP of the bladder. She had been treated with an antibiotic that was not resistant to the infection. She had a second round of MRSP. In Oct. 2009 we worked with a holistic vet in England using homeopathic remedies as well as certain vitamins, minerals and a mushroom derivative to help improve her immune system. She is also getting nosodes to prepare her for the side affects of her 2010 vaccines.
EC: Hi Gardengal,
Do you mean MRSA?

I cannot say the dose or the name of the vaccine, but when I bought my puppy, a mutt of blue heeler, australian shepherd origin, the seller immediately gave her an 6-way shot. I was told by vet those are very bad and dangerous. I have had issues with my dog, she began having seizures, yeast infections in ears, she has runny nose but its also not clear. For life of me I cannot keep her at a healthy weight, she holds fat, but overall I have a feeling that shot caused these problems

My parents took their puppy (3.5 months old) in for standard vaccines and the dog became ill within hours. The dog had trouble using its legs, lying down, and breathing. The vet could not find a reason why the dog was slowly losing lung power and within 5 days the dog had to be put down. Several years ago a cat that I own was temporarily paralized as a result of the distemper vaccine. Various sources indicate that the distemper vaccine is not mandatory. I am one that will not give that vaccine in any future animal that I may own.

I have a Boxer that had distemper and rabies shot last November 2009 (he was about a year old). About a month later he started to develop severe dry/red skin with blotches. He was digging at his skin constantly and obsessively. We finally brought him to the vet and they gave him a round of antibiotics that helped clear it up slightly. For months afterwards, he kept having these out breaks about once a month. This past spring (2010) we took him again because he had itchy skin. They gave him the same antibiotics and not realizing he had already been vaccinated for rabies a few months ago administered another shot. About 2 weeks later he started digging at himself even more than he has ever done before. He also started to act differently (aggressive at time and sometimes confused). We brought him back to the vet and they administered a shot of cortisone. That night he started to have these seizure looking episodes that only affected the movement of his head and he was completely concious and alert. Regardless of our description the vet's diagnosised it as focal epileptic seizures and immediately started to administer phenobarbitol. After about 2days later with the phenobarbitol not working, he was looking terrible and I was beginning to wonder if he was going to survive. By this time I was loosing faith with our vet. So, I began to do some extensive internet research. I found that the seizures were actually called "head tremors" and some believe are to be caused from vaccinations and/or a compromised immune system. This led me down a long trail of information about vaccinations and specifically overvaccinosis. I immediately started to administer milk thistle combined with dandelion root and burdock. The head tremors immediately started to get better and within a few days he stopped having them. Only on a few occassions within the past 4-6wks has he had them since giving him this liver detox formula. After finding great success with this natural miracle cure... We seeked the council of a hollistic/homeopathic vet and have been trying to repair the damage caused by this unnecessary vaccination protocol. After about a month of a raw diet, supplements, and homeopathic treatments our beloved pet is starting to make some improvements. He is still in the detox phase... so, it is tough some days. But, we are all confident that he will have an almost full recovery within the next 12mo.
My advice to anyone who has noticed any changes in their pet following any vaccinations within 3mo. is to seek a naturalistic vet ASAP. If it were not for sites like these my dog would have been dead at the hands of a normal veterinarian professional. It's time for the medical community to wake up and stop poisoning us and our pets with toxins! Stop treating symptoms and treat the cause naturally and safely!!!!
