I've been thinking about pet vaccinations - or, rather, ALL mandatory vaccinations - and I think it would be a good idea to make up a slippery elm, bone-char and hardwood charcoal gel with some freshly ground dried marshmallow root powder, put it in one of those travel tubes they have for shampoo and smoosh a nice big glob of that on the spot right after. Suck that s%#t right back out.
Dog at vet from bad Leptospirosis vaccine reaction: is there a cure?
There is a dog at a vet's office on all sorts of IVs to no avail. Diarrhea, not eating, in very bad shape. You name it, the vet's office keeps trying. I have read of kidney and liver damage in
these cases. Is there a cure? After many days, I am wondering. This dog is very popular in a world wide Virtual story teller's stories on Facebook.
Our 15 month old short hair, Winnie, received a 3 year rabies and 3 year distemper vaccine yesterday at noon. At 3:30 pm she vomited 5 times in 30 min. After that, no vomiting, seemed to return to normal and just rested throughout the night. This AM at 5, gave a little food and she drank water. She vomited a little but seems fine now.
Spoke with vet yesterday who recommended I try to give her only water last night. She did not want it. Had an urgent care appt last night at 9 PM but canceled because she was resting and had not vomited since 3:30 pM. Today I gave her the food and water and she vomited a little but is acting normally.
What is the danger to her? Vomiting is only dangerous after 24-48 hours right? What do you advise?
I never give my dogs anything I wouldn't use on myself, that's my yardstick. They're still treated like they are aliens from another planet. They are just as human as we are and need the care we give to ourselves. If you wouldn't take it, don't give it to your dog. I learned a long time ago a dog or cat only ever got fleas if there was an underlying problem with another health issue or general well-being. I have never had a healthy animal with fleas. If your pet has them look for the real cause, don't poison them as well.
We had third puppy shots two weeks ago and my shih tzus have been having “reverse coughing” bouts ever since. I almost didn't get them the third round of shots, but then I did. I'm kindof pissed. What is up with the “reverse coughs” origin?

My very healthy Zoe 8.5 years old went in for a blood panel & well check up, to give vet a basis for any future problems. Her blood count was 58 within the high normal range. Everything on panel was excellent. The vet at the time gave her a DA2PP vaccine. Two days later, she became listless, feverish and quit eating! She urinated outside I got a paper towel to see if she really peed, as she hadn't drank anything for two days. The paper towel was full of bright red blood! Omg! Brought her back to vet. He took her blood again and it was 18! She turned yellow in her mouth and ears. He gave her antibiotics and steroids suggested we feed her baby food with a syringe. This was a perfectly healthy dog before these vaccines. Took her to another vet in morning as she couldn't even walk by this time. She had her admitted to a VCA Emergency Hospital for a blood transfusion. But her body continued to destroy her own blood cells along with new blood. She passed away at 4am. Diagnosis was IMHA; which is common especially for the female cocker spaniel I find out now, after the fact. No one ever told me that. I would never have allowed the administration of a vaccine that would kill my baby girl. A law needs to be passed, vets should inform cocker owners of the possible threat, at least give the option to the owners. We ended paying approximately $5,000 in attempt to save her life, to no avail. We r so upset! She was a precious girl. I would rather deal with any disease than put her through that. She literally bled to death. She has a brother from her litter and never have been separated; he received same vaccines and had no reaction. But vet medical books are aware of this danger in all cockers, but especially a female. Be aware parents of cockers, this was deadly. Her brother is grieving with us. So sad. Hope this post will save someone else's baby.
I begrudgingly get my fur babies vaccinated. I see how sensitive they are afterwards and the lumps they develop in their necks and think the worst. My family vet had always used the Virbac Canigen brand. It was 3 vaccinations at 8,12 and 16 weeks. I did some research and discovered vets using the Ingleheim Boehringer Protech brand only administered 2 needles. All this paranoia because some idiot says you can't take your dog out until they've had all their shots. I chose to swap to the Protech vaccine for my newest pup. It's been an unmitigated disaster. She's riddled with allergy. And I know it's all my fault ☹ï¸
Spread vaccines out as much as as possible. I had always been on the late side of getting my other pooches vaccinated and never had such long term issues.
This happened to my 2yo 5lb Papillon after he was given Lepto vaccine in his hind leg. He was miserable and wouldnt even lay down or sit because his leg hurt too much. I took him back to the vet the same day and they gave me OstiLox which is a doggie NSAID (like advil or tylenol for humans) and he felt better within an hour! It was $30 but I have the whole bottle now and it was worth it to see my dog normal again.
1:15a.m. called animal hospital Jane is doing better...taking her slowly of oxygen.. because she was gasping for air and vomiting she got fluid (vomit) in her lungs..took x-ray at hospital showed cloudy area in her lungs..she had fever..that has gone down at this time...also she temporary lost vision in her right eye..swelling in brain..still doing antibiotics...hope your puppy is doing better now. This is a nightmare..over Lyme vaccination
My 13 year old Lhasa Apso had his regular check up. He hasn't had vaccinations, since he developed liver disease 4 years ago. He received the intranasal Bordella vaccination. 5 days later, he had issues breathing and I rushed him to the hospital. His lungs were filled with fluid and he passed away within 4 hours. I truly believe the vaccinations contributed to his demise. We're so devastated.
Can you please let me know which homeopath medicine you gave. I am facing similar problem with my 4 months old Siberian Husky puppy. She has got seizure twice. First after three days of vaccination and then the second followed after 5 days(i.e. after 8 days of vaccination. Please help.
INDOOR Cats only need 1 shot (a Modified Live Virus shot is best, vs the killed virus and only requires 1 shot). It is the 5 in one FVRCP shot and wait until the kitten is at least 3-5lbs. It has been proven cats immune system remember very well, and produce antibodies the rest of their lives. When adding another member to a family of cats, make sure the new cat is sequestered and vaccinated and wait two week before integrating. This avoids the other being exposed to any new virus from the newcomer. It's nothing but a money making thing to give animals shots so often. The initial suggestion was not to give shots ANY MORE OFTEN than 3 years, it was never, every 3 years. Poor dogs get them annually! NEVER give a cat a rabies shot, ever...not even if they go outside occasionally, unless you live in the woods....not needed and this shot as well as Fel Leukemia shots which should never be given either are the worse ones to cause sarcomas. What a scam to get office visits and dollars in the vets pockets. Also, be aware that heart worm meds now contain IVERMECTIN, deadly to fleas, ticks, worms and also your animal if you aren't careful, because it can cause kidney and liver damage. Use lemon wipes to keep mosquitos off your animals if they go outdoors.
Vets are not supposed to administer vaccines in that area anymore... that is really bad. It should be the lowest part of the leg. You need a new vet that does things properly.
Our 2 1/2 year old Hound got the nasal kennel cough vaccine nasally. She has urinated in the house 3 times in two days (she only did that twice before, right after we adopted her from the pound, months ago). She is off her chow, and the vet never told us that she could make our other dog sick. Apparently this is not such an unusual side-effect after this vaccine.
My shih-tzu got her yearly shots on June21, 2017 and nine days later she was unable to do anything. She was dead July 3, 2017. She got the kennel cough medicine on June21, and went to the emergency vet. hospital on July 2. They said she was dehydrated and had a upset stomach. Tilly, was only 3 1/2 years old. In my heart I feel that she had a stroke and no one would listen to me. She was a loving, happy, smart, playful girl. She never got sick in the three and a half years we had her. This was to sudden and I wish I knew what killed her.
You really should or should have contacted the vet right away. Or at least when he couldn't use his back legs. And blood in the stool couod mean many things. I watched my uncle's dog for a week and she had blood in her stool. I gave her rice for a day (rice with a little chicken or vegetable broth for flavor, is good for their tummy..Like the BRAT diet.but without the B.A.T part of it...Lol...but No dog food and she got better. Maybe it was a tummy issue.Idk.. but with all the other symptoms a vet would be a good idea...
Hi I'm sorry to hear about your Chihuahua getting sick from the vaccination. I have a miniature chihuahuas while she's three pounds in almost 2 years old. About three weeks ago I took her to get vaccinated and she had the intranasal bordetella and since she's had severe breathing problems. I'm not sure if that's what's causing this but it's been going on for weeks. She has went through a course of temaril P steroid and antihistamine after not getting any better from those she was put in the hospital blood work showed infection elevated white blood cell count elevated liver enzyme count and they said that was from temaril P so taper her off and we did and now is on a 10 day supply of Clavamox which is an antibiotic and she's on day 7 she only has 3 days left and she's still coughing sneezing reverse sneezing depressed not wanting to take food or water. I'm extremely worried about her and I was just wondering if your Chihuahua got better over time and maybe it just was the vaccination if that's the case she will never get it again. I would love to hear back from you and see how your dog is doing so I can have a better peace of mind for mine thank you so much.
I have had similar symptoms with my mini poodle after the intra nasal vaccine. Now its like his sinuses are clogged, a lot of snorting and clicking sounds when breathing.

Shots are not necessary. You need to rethink that maxim. It was put into our head by the media owned by pharmaceutical companies and other miscreants. And also the idea that giving vaccines is responsible dog ownership. After all the problems that you experienced after vaccines, when will you realize to stop doing what the looters want you to do. Vaccines are a scam.
I would not let your puppy undergo surgery tomorrow until he is 100% recovered. You might need to have the vet examine him for severe side effects instead. So sorry. Hope he improves quickly.
My 13 week puppy got a parvo shot 4 days ago, today is Sunday and he won't eat or drink water, just a little bit ago he drank water a did start eating, but his right eye looks like glass or something covering it, and he just had a huge muscle spasm or seizure not sure. Then got up and ran around then went to his food and started eating. He's scheduled to go to vet in am, to get neutered. Not sure what to do? But he did start eating.

Very sorry to hear of your problems. Humans contracting bordetella is uncommon but does occur, usually the humans involved have another underlying health issue that makes them susceptible but this is not always the case. The good part about the human side is that the antibiotics used to treat it are commonly available.
As for your puppy, if your vet is not responding I would seek out a new vet. I googled 'holistic vet new south wales' and got three hits, Bangalow, All Natural and another and all looked very good. You should be able to ring up the old vet and have them transfer all of your pup's records over to the new vet if you go that route.
What you can do at home: hydrogen peroxide with honey and bread come to mind, also colloidal silver. Take a peek and read through what others used and did to arrive at a remedy and dose you are comfortable with: https://www.earthclinic.com/pets/cough.html
Hi, our cavoodle puppy was given a kennel cough vaccine intra nasal at the age of 10 weeks. She developed Kennel cough from this vaccine, we notified the Vet and took her back to see her. The Vet decided against giving her anti biotics as she sad the pup needed to build up her own immunity. Now we have a very sick puppy, besides the breathing problems she also has inflammed tonsils and throat. And after many xray's and tests confirming the diagnosis the Vet still has not contacted us. We will do this, this coming week.
My wife became very ill, out of breath, after the pup licked her on the face and up the nose. She has had tests and they all confirm that she has contracted bordetela. This has come from our sick puppy. What do we do now?????

I agree with many issues in your post! When I have youngsters to vaccinate I hold off until 16 weeks for the first poke of core vaccinations, do the second poke one month later and then boost at 1 year, and then cease vaccinations. I do rabies at 6 months and boost 1 year later, and then every 3 years or as required by law in my area. I think if you can order your own vaccines and dose 1/3 or 1/2 as you are doing that is great. We cannot order rabies vaccine - vet's must administer and I know my own holistic vet is under a lot of fire from the Western practitioners who simply do not understand how the alternative side of things work, that he would never risk his practice by dosing anything but the full dose :( So glad you are able to do the reduced rabies dose!
I am in rescue. Cats. I am very wary of vaccines, but we have to do them. Vaccines are a vet's bread and butter. Keeps people coming in every year. Many first vaccines are important. The distemper vaccine in a shelter kitten is critical. After that, not so much. We have to do vaccines to show cats for adoption, in a store environment. I noticed that my vet was giving full 1 ml vaccines to baby kittens. That's the same amount you would give an adult. Later on the kitten would die of FIP.
This year I have insisted upon a third to quarter dose FVRCP for kittens, 1/2 dose rabies for a 6 month old kitten, and I won't do rabies at 4 months. So far no issue. My vet thinks I'm nuts. I know I'm not.
Last year was horrible. We take in over 100 animals/year. I've seen kittens change right after vaccines and never be the same again.....on a heavy slide to death, but healthy prior. Unimaginable heartache. I've spent thousands of dollars on blood tests etc. I've shed way too many tears. No way should a baby kitten or small dog get the same amount of vaccine as a big dog, or adult cat. Vets are not catching on to this. Also, I am in the unique position to interview people whose pets have recently died.
The pet owners whose cats live to be 20, don't do yearly vaccines. This is what I have noticed. Too many animals also die of sarcomas. The killed virus vaccines(rabies) are given in the flank, and site of injection is usually notated in the records, in case a sarcoma develops at the site of the injection. The leg could then be amputated. I hope this post saves someone's pet. I have shed too many tears. I rescue to save lives, not to watch baby kittens and cats die needlessly. Endless heartache.
My Chihuahua was given the kennel cough shot up his nose and since then has had breathing problems, cant breath through his nose etc. He is really ill. I am not happy with my vet.

You might try the homeopathic remedies Thuja and also Silicea to see if they help negate the bad effects of the vaccine. If this were my dog I would not be back for vaccinations - you might google "Dr. Jean Dodd's Pet Health Resource Blog" and read up on her vaccination articles.
I have a yorkie/daschund age 1 year 4 mo..i got her her 3 year rabies distemper shot. She had a rabies distemper in 10/2015...they said she was due again. I'm worried if something is gonna happen to her. I knew I shouldn't get her those shots but they told me its the law I had to. Now what. Today she keeps trying to hide. Day after shots...

You might see if the homeopathic remedies Thuja and Silicea will help your pet. These remedies have been helpful in negating side effects from vaccines.
My 9 year old yorkie had a seizure last night and another one today .. the same shaking with the scared look in the eye ... she is very allergic to the tick meds so I do not give her any ... I am worried that these shots caused this shaking today as she had the shot around noon time yesterday ...
FYI If your dog is on Keppra then I'm assuming it has a seizure disorder. If that's the case I have been told dogs with seizures should not get the Bordetella Vaccine, that it can cause seizures.
My dog has autoimmune disease from shots also. Multiple shots were given including rabies and canine influenza, dhlpp, bordetella etc.she is crippled in hind legs and one front leg, one scarred eye and one eye removed. Her eyes had bulged so bad she almost lost both eyes. Changed vets and the one one believes she will lose use of both front legs in this progressive disease. Vets should split these vaccines over time and after a few years dogs don't need many of these shots. These shots should be given 3 to 4 months apart. Now I can't get her well. her immune system attacked her terribly. Shots are getting dangerous.
My siamese girl had leukemia shot and when we got home I noticed something black protruding from mouth...tongue? It happened 2-3 times again. She also has pink tongue too, now
I don't give my dogs any vaccines after the age of two, but it is wise to dose your dog a week before vaccinations with vit c because it helps with such reactions.

My daughter dog is a chihuahua mix that weighs 13 lbs recently had the DHLP-P-C vaccine. The day after her shot, she started coughing and hacking up phlegm very often. We just put two and two together because two years ago she had the same symptoms which we thought was Kennel Cough because we had just got her from a rescue place but they had administered her annual vaccine right before we picked her up. Last time we took her the Vet and they put her on antibiotics three times she had it for months after that. Has any other pet owner had this happen to their furry friend??
Scott, I am sorry for your little dog, please try to syringe down your dogs throat slowly some chicken broth and vit c to help move the toxins out of her body. I am sorry, it's a hard lesson learned.
If you begin to check into vaccines for dogs you will find that regardless of the dogs size, Vets give the same dose of vaccine for every animal, if it's 5 pounds or 100 pounds. That is enough to make me begin looking for a holistic Vet that has a clue. My dog is currently sick from a vaccine and it has been a week without eating and listless, just lying there and not responding and I am praying she recovers, but that is far from certain at this point. My condolences. Question Authority, all of them.
Our small Terrier mix went to the vet and got a Bordetella and Rabies combo vaccine, and then was fed a pill for flea protection given by the vet. After two days or so she was vomiting, had diarrhea, and has quit eating completely. She was doing some drinking but not much. She has been totally listless and unresponsive for almost a week now. We took her back to the vet who was rather non-committal as to what might be wrong, but hinted at something about kidney failure. She was fine the week before the shot. She spent three days at the vet and came back to us today in no better shape than when she went in, but we are $600 lighter for her stay. She still has slight shaking and refuses to eat, and is completely unresponsive. I hope she pulls out of this but she will starve if she doesn't start eating again. She is almost 6 years old and up until the vaccine was an active and healthy dog. I am not certain that was the problem but it is quite the coincidence. And I don't believe in coincidences. And I don't trust most Doctors much more than most Vets. I know my health better than anyone, and I wish I had used my instincts with my dog and left her alone.
This was not a "mild" case. How could the vet say that?
So sorry what you and Bella went through, so grateful Bella recovered.
My friend took her small dog to the vet for a physical (overweight) on a Wednesday two weeks ago. The vet gave her a rabies vaccination. On Saturday 3 days later poor Maxie was blind and deaf! Walking into walls and furniture AND could not hear you trying to help her verbally. So sad.
Other than being a little overweight Maxie was fine when she went to the vet.
That is why I am researching vaccinations and side effects other people have experienced with their furry kids. I am just horrified.
Scientists research shows that dogs DO NOT need a rabies vaccination every 3 years as the law mandates. They are good for possibly a life time or 7 years minimum.
I will not be risking my pets lives or health for any of these vaccinations other than the mandated rabies vaccination they already received.
After much research I am convinced they are covered for the remainder of their lives, they are both 10 years old and very healthy.

You might try adding activated charcoal- loose or easier to dose tablets - to Bella's food for a few days to help her detox. Also homeopathic Thuja in a crisis dose [initial frequent dosing as indicated on package label] may help Bella. Focus on keeping her hydrated rather than fed at this point, and consider dosing activated charcoal in doggy pedialyte if she has no interest in taking the tablets hidden in a tasty treat. Please report back!
