BHT Books

The Bht Book By S.W. Fowkes is Free And Online...Yes, this informative book all about BHT [ butylated hydroxytoluene ] is free and available online here:
http://www.projectwellbeing.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/02/BHTbook-StevenWmFowkes-100903.pdf
A very good read for those interested in the use of BHT to treat lipid coated viruses. Mr. Fowkes has written other books about all this.
Mr. Fowkes primary focus has been the use of BHT to treat the different herpes viruses but he does discuss BHT`s use as a treatment for hepatitis C and other lipid coated viruses.
The feedback available in this and other forums does indicate to me that when treating hepatitis C the BHT with water on an empty stomach works best. So, there is the link to this book by a man who has spent many years looking into BHT as a treatment for lipid coated viruses. He has been at this for far more years than I have.
I do ask any and all using the BHT treatment to report in here at the EARTH CLINIC with your results. No one seems to be doing that anymore....Oscar

For Cold Sores, try BHT.. butyl hydroxy toluene..... Has to be mixed with a fat of some kind to break it down and have it stored in the lymphs it worked for me at the first signs and in less than a day, next day I had the slightest of a skin scab where the blister was then gone my dose was 1/8 teaspoon on a piece of buttered toast twice a day the tingling cold sore stopped tingling within a few hours... BTH is used for the preservation of food stuffs and other more exotic things. Let me know if you try it and if it works for you please.
Genital Herpes Outbreaks

I have received the following two reports from John regarding how very well the BHT is working as a treatment for his herpes infection. John uses a cell phone to post with and has problems posting in some forums. Anyway this IS what John has reported to me:
Oscar- I have been taking BHT to treat herpes for 1 year. I have not had one outbreak since I started taking 2 x 350mg per day of BHT. I have had 3 igG herpes blood tests since starting BHT and each one has resulted in a progressively lower result, and the last test about 4 months ago is close to an equivocal reading.
You have mentioned on a few postings that you have not had a herpes outbreak in years. As you are aware, herpes is different than hepatitis C in that it can hide in the nervous system. I know that you have been dealing with more serious health issues than herpes; however, I have a request that may provide valuable information and hope to those fighting herpes. Would it be possible for you to get an igG test for the herpes virus to see if the result is negative?
All the best to you, John
-------------------------------------------------------------------
Update from John sent July 25, 2013
As Oscar mentioned, I have been taking bht about 2 years to treat hsv. As an update to my hsv testing, after 3 increasingly lower igG blood tests over a period of 3 years, the last test showed a slightly higher result at 1. 50. I was a bit concerned about this until I read that any result under 3 maybe a false positive. Last week, I took a different type of test, a biokit type, and the result was negative. Don't know what to think now. The experts say that the gold standard test is a western blot test, and perhaps one day I will take that test. I am sort of stubborn though and intend to keep taking bht and take a few more igG tests in hopes of an eventual igG negative result.

Dear Chadsm138, My advice for anyone who feels that BHT is in any way adversely effecting them is to take less BHT. You do mention that this eczema condition is gone since you began taking the BHT. That does seem to inicate something good is happening with this treatment.
Also, I do recommend taking a vitamin B complex tablet once a day and 1mg tablet of vitamin B12 per day. 1mg [ milligrams ] is the same as 1,000mcg [ micrograms ] Vitamin B12 is sold in micrograms. These B vitamins should help with this fatigue you have discussed.
Have you had any blood tests done since you started taking the BHT ? Such tests are needed to evaluate how well the BHT is working as a treatment for hepatitis C. I am talking about liver function tests and the viral load count test. The liver function tests are NOT expensive. They cost about 30 to 35 dollars for LIVER PANEL TESTS. The viral load count costs about 300 dollars. These tests are important. You should at the very least have that standard liver panel series of blood test done to find out how well your liver is functioning... Oscar

To Oscar. I am 168 pounds and was taking 500mg a day for a few days but dropped to 250. I still feel very tired and almost fell asleep at church this morning. That's really the only side effect I have. My dyshidrotic eczema actually is gone so I know some good things are happening. It has been months and months since I've had chronic fatigue problems associated with the hep c. Just wondering if you've heard anything similar as far as side effects.

Posted by Oscar (Syracuse, New York) on 07/14/2013
To Chadsm138 from Texas, I have always advised caution with the use of BHT. If you choose to try this treatment you have to find a dosage you are OK with. How much do you weigh and how much BHT are you taking ? Generally the less you weigh the less you should be taking. As little as 350mg or less of BHT per day is often enough for a 200 pound person. So if you weigh 150 pounds or so 200mg to 250mg per day may be plenty. Even that may be too much. Start with a low dose [ these capsules are easy to pull apart ] and work up to a dose you are OK with. You can always take a capsule every other day as a way of lowering your daily dosage of BHT. If adverse effects persist you may wish to discontinue the BHT treatment entirely. That is up to you... Oscar

My health amd chronic fatigue associated with the hep c has greatly improved over the last year because of changes in diet and the use of other supplements but the last 3 or 4 days the chronic fatigue feeling has returned. Has this happened to anyone else? Wondering if I should stop.

Dear Glenda from Tel Aviv, You are asking for guarantees NO one here can possibly give you. NO one here knows with any certainty just what this less than food grade BHT is. What potentionaly harmful impurities exist in this BHT.
STOP wasting time struggling with that issue. Pay the additional fees to get a prompt delivery from a company selling food grade BHT. If YOU get serious about it you can probably get delivery in three days or LESS.
Also: What disease or condition are you hoping to treat with BHT ? By the way: There are NO guarantees here or anywhere else. Even proven and prescribable treatments such as antibiotics for bacterial infections do NOT always work for everyone. Just calm down, do what you can to find a reliable seller of food grade BHT and pay for that prompt delivery. This condition, whatever it is, did not develop overnight or did it ? ...Oscar

Thanks for replying, Oscar. I know it would be better to buy something that is food grade or food additive grade, but it will take me a long time to get a hold of that, and in the meantime the virus is doing damage that may not be reversable. The BHT I mentioned is available immediately.
I asked them for a purity report, and they will get back to me. I need know how pure it needs to be for transdermal use. I'd appreciate it if anyone can answer this question (not just a guess). I don't want to harm myself.

But that is NO reason for not finding a company that sells good quality BHT. I don't live in Israel so I do NOT know what companies sell BHT to people in Israel. I plan on applying the BHT topically (on the skin) (as Steven Fowkes describes in the BHT book). Can anyone verify if this BHT is safe to use?

Hello Oscar, after about an 18 month of BHT-treatment I have received the latest upgrade of my blood test results. I got my viral load results today and while not cleared I am improved.
Here are my recent results from 06.04.2013 followed by the prior results:

In addition to the special treatment with BHT, for 10 years already I inject myself with mistletoe of the oak as a 20mg injection 3 times a week.
And now in addition to all the stuff below
I try high doses of vitamin B12 B12 (5000micrograms) injections for a month.
I'm doing the injection subcutaneously in the thigh twice a week.

Vitamin C 1000mg
Vitamin B-6 100mg

To Truthbetold, There is a doctor, Burton Berkson, curing liver disease, including cirrhosis, with ALA - alpha lipoic acid. Briefly, he stumbled upon it by accident giving it to a patient with only a few days to live. Completely restored his liver. Subsequently, he went on to administer it to others with cirrhosis and other types of liver failure, and it worked. His article was written in the Well-Being Journal Jan/Feb 2009 Volume 18, No 1. He added milk thistle and selenium as a support, calls the three items, his "cocktail".

I can attest to the fact that since I quit taking
Milk Thistle, the BHT 350mg per day is working better. My Liver Function Tests have returned to near normal values, they were in the 300 range. I would also like to add that people who are taking Coconut Oil for the Monolaurin content need to be cautious as it can build up plaque in the ateries. I have since reduced my intake and am not feeling as sluggish. The simple use of BHT 350mg plus 1-4mg of B12 and Vitamin D3 500mg are helping as well. I also take Chanca Piedra 500mg with breakfast and it has drastically reduced the pain I have in the lower right lobe of my liver. I do take Oxycontin 10mg 3x in the night for pain for another condition and am surprised that my Liver Enzymes are near normal range and the GGT is 23.
This BHT is wonderful stuff, but I am noticing that the people with Chronic Hepatitis are having trouble compared to Acute Hepatitis but for the most it just takes longer to heal.

Dear Priscilla from Uxbridge MA, I don`t see any problem with you using ibuprophen with the BHT treatment as long as you do NOT take them at the same time. Wait at least two hours before or after taking the one or the other. Ibuprophen does put an additional strain on the liver. But the same is true for any pain reliever. Many people using the BHT treatment are on some type of pain medication including ibuprophen for one reason or another. It is best not to take these pain medications, but people do need relief from pain at times.
Please keep this forum updated with your experience with the BHT treatment for hepatitis C. Wishing you well and to be well, ...Oscar

To Sasha from Canada, BHT cured me of chronic hepatitis C with liver failure. But for it to work you need to keep it simple. By that I mean NOT mixing it with other treatments including milk thistle and such. The dosage used depends on how much you weigh and other things. Start with no more than 250mg of BHT per day. If you weigh less than 130 pounds that may be plenty enough. Vitamin B12 helps in a dose of 1mg wich is the same as 1, 000mcg [ micrograms ]. Vitamin E supplements should be AVOIDED, not taken. Do NOT drink grapefruit juice with this treatment. Do NOT take lysine supplements. It has worked very well for many if taken as recommended. Check out this websites archives about it here:

Just wanted to say for the record, (and not to dampen spirits, that's not what I'm about) a few things about my Chronic HCV in general. I'm 29 and tested positive for Hep C at 16. Being Canadian (access to free health care) I've monitored my condition over the years. It has been all over the map, and my blood work results quite often don't match how I feel. It's very difficult to tell what helps and what doesn't. For example, for two years I was homeless, living in a tent, using drugs, and everything that goes along with that. My levels etc. Seemed to show a marked improvement in liver function during that time, which baffled me. All in all, I go by how I feel, and now that I've been drug free for over 2 years I feel alright. The 2 biggest improvements I made to my health tho, were quiting smoking (constant lung infections have stopped completely) and cutting out salt and sugar, especially sugar. Another important step for my liver and overall health was getting off all the prescription meds doctors told me I needed. My life is so much better without them. Everyone beware Quetiapine/Seroquel! It's being handed out like candy to the addicted, the mentally ill, and people with sleep problems (tho it hasn't been tested for sleep).
I am interested in this BHT, wondering if it helps HCV, or if it has ever cured it. I will research it, but any info from anyone who's been "cured" of HCV by BHT would be greatly appreciated. Enough accronyms for one night!

Thanks to a nice and caring gentleman named Oscar, I have been treating my hepatitis c genotype 1 (not sure if it is a or b) with BHT for approximately one year. I started taking 375 mg twice daily for the 1st 9 months. Lately I have been taking 250 mg along with a monolaurin. When I started taking BHT my viral load was 450,000 and my last was 147 and my salt was 173. Yesterday I reviewed my recent results with my Dr. and my viral load was 7,500. My ast and salt are still high at 100 and 127, but having this disease since probably the early 70's takes its toll. My albumin and bilirubin are still within normal limits which tells me that although my liver is working hard, it is still functioning at a decent level. If anybody would like more info on but as a treatment for hcv, you can find it at the new but cures group in yahoo groups. Dear Wayseeker from Modesto, Well, that is a very substantial improvement in liver function especially when the person using the BHT treatment was in LATE STAGE CIRRHOSIS. From everything I have read about cirrhosis of the liver, it is very difficult to get ANY improvement when said cirrhosis is at the advanced stage.
Also, from what you said it appears to me he was mixing the BHT with other medications at the same time he took the BHT. I have warned people to NEVER do that. So stop doing that. For this treatment to work you have to use it as I have been discussing.
Regarding distilled water: Distilled water is the BEST water to use. Always drink adequate amounts of DISTILLED WATER. Distilled water is water and NOTHING else. That IS what you want to be drinking. Dear Oscar, I had to tell you! Marvin's scores were finally obtained, and despite doing BHT not at all well-- not consistentaly, only a small dose 1x/ day, mixed with food and his medicines (5), he still has seen his scores drop from ALT 248 and AST 303, to ALT 98 and AST 59. These are from the Veterans, so aren't listed in millions. I trust you understand them anyway. His recent bloodwork they said he hadn't had ALT/AST tests in 6 months, when he has had two tests, 3 & 5 months ago. Oddly, they didn't include these, and though they drew many vials of blood last week, have "no ALT/AST tests for 6 mths" for this visit.
He has been, during the past 3 months, doing it right, by itself, 2x/ day, w/o food, by itself. Pity they didn't give us those scores, because I'm sure they're even better. But perhaps they didn't test him at all this time.
All in all, very hopeful news. Thank you. He did have to go back on meds, as has terrible ascites and they came back.
I have one question about drinking distilled water while using BHT, and if you have any remarks on that, please reply. --The Wayseeker.

Dear Truthbetold, I try very hard to provide the most up to date and reliable information available regarding BHT as a treatment for hepatitis C. This information is based on the feedback available from people trying this BHT treatment and a Univresity of Naples study regarding vitamins that help with this treatment. The vitamin B12 in daily doses of 1, 000mcg [ micrograms ] and the those that harm [ vitamin E because it was proven to ENHANCE the hepatitis C viruses` ability to replicate ]. Now you NEED some vitamin E. Just do not take vitamin E supplements. You get plenty enough vitamin E in a normal diet and have no need for the supplements.
Now, you have shown some small improvement with the BHT treatment while using milkthisle and or it`s extracts. You have held your own against this potentially dangerous hepatitis C infection and showed some small improvement. I do think using the BHT treatment as recommended has to be at LEAST worth a try. This milkthistle stuff greatly degrades the BHT treatment.
You asked about dandelion greens. As far as I know this has NO effect on the BHT treatment and should be OK to eat.
Now the fact that you showed some small improvement with the BHT treatment in spite of using milkthistle NOT because of it, is significant. You have been using the BHT treatment for about one year now. Most people with a hepatitis C infection get worse as time goes by, NOT in any way better.
Give the BHT treatment a try as recommmended at let us see what happens. I would be surprised if you do NOT show a dramatic improvement within a month or two. For a man your size [ over 200 pounds ] the recommended dosage of BHT is: 350mg of BHT taken twice a day, in the morning and at night with water on an empty stomach. Dear Truthbetold from Madison, Alabama, I do remember you for sure. It is good hearing from you once again. I often do wonder about the different people I have been in contact with and hope they are well. I am NOT a doctor. As your doctors have told you your viral load count is very much in the low range. I notice some small improvement in that viral load count. All I can tell you is that taking milk thistle and or it`s extracts DOES make the BHT treatment much less effective. Why not give the BHT treatment a try without said milk thistle and see if that works or not. If it works you should see a dramatic drop in that viral load count in a very few months. You are relatively healthy. Stop taking milk thistle and lets see what happens. Also do NOT take vitamin E supplements. Vitamin E supplements have been proven to enhance the hepatitis C viruses` ability to replicate and should be avoided by people with hepatitis C for that reason.
Give that a try for say 3 months and if the hepatitis C is still showing up with little or no improvement then it is time to consider the NEW treatments that are in the pipeline and due to become available this year.
The good news is you are still quite healthy and have those 3 months to try the BHT treatment as recommended. If it does not work those new treatments will still be there for you. You seem to me a very strong and generally healthy person and need not be frightened. One way or another, with or without the BHT treatment you will find a treatment that works for you. I know you are a good man and will get through this one way or another....Oscar
BHT Overview
Posted by Truthbetold (Madison, Alabama, Usa) on 04/01/2013
I have been following the BHT threads and find them interesting and hopeful. I am trying to determine which is better to fight; Cirrhoris or the Virus. I have HCV (over 30 years now) 1b and I have Cirrhoris (early stage). My Liver Enzymes are AST-100 ALT-150 and they have fluctuated mostly down and then back up within this range for years. My platelet count has remained between 126 and 136 for years. My PT and INR run above range also. I am 60 years old, 220lbs weight, 6'5" Tall, and can be considered in generally good health, EXCEPT for HCV and Cirrhoris.
The VA (Veterans Administration) has tried to get me to go on the Inteferon and now the new treatment for many years. They say I am a good candidate but I feel they say that to everyone. My situation puzzles me because my viral load has never been above 225, 000 and has gone as been as low as 63,000. Currently it is at 175,000. I was told that viral load in my case has nothing to do with the damage to the liver.
The VA (Veterans Administration) wants me to consider starting their treatment with the new 3 drug therapy in August.
So question: I noticed you indicated that Milk Thistle hinders the BHT effect. That was disappointing to me because I was using Milk Thistle to protect the liver along with Alpha Lipoic Acid and some Selium. Now if BHT is to kill the virus and it takes patience and awhile to do so, AND if Milk Thistle is very good for the Inflamation of the Liver, then how do I handle this dilema.
I need to get the inflamation under control in the liver yet I need to kill or significantly control the virus to stop the inflamation! It is like a catch 22, UNLESS there are options I have not thought of.
I have been taking BHT for about a month or two (350mg twice a day - nothing else but a big gulp of water) I did notice that my platelets went up from 129 to 136 but then the darn labs moved the reference ranges up again. So now where I would have been in the low range I am now below the low range.
Other than being tired from time to time, I feel rather healthy, but the thought of Cirrhoris that I have and the inflamation in my liver is what concerns me.
In summary, your opinion (and anyone elses) on which of the two I should focus on most [Killing the HCV virus OR my Liver Inflammation?] It would be great if I could work on both and I suspect someone can provide experienced input.
Lastly, often in the posts, people do not indicate if they had Acute or Chronic HCV. Maybe I overlooked some of the references, but since Acute can come and go over various time limits, it would be helpful to understand the success with Chronic HCV, in my humble opinion.
Thank you for your past input, as I have researched many of your referenced files and links and have found them helpful. I am supposed to go in another 6 months to the VA for my next lab work and I will post what happens. I am hoping that I can get some valuable input before the next scheduled treatment at the VA in August to help in my decision.
You efforts are appreciated!
BHT Purity

Dear Imready, Only trained chemists with access to some very expensive devises can test the purity of BHT or any other compound. It is NOT something a do it yourselfer can do.
Aside from that: How have you been doing ? I know you had a serious issue with ammonia build up in your blood. Have you experienced any improvement or not with the BHT treatment ? ...Oscar

Can anyone tell me how to test for the real purity of BHT? I'd like to know that what I am using is really pure as it's supposed to be. Thanks!!

We had to create a NEW Yahoo group because we were unable to add new moderators to the original group. This new group is essentially a continuation of the original group with the added ability to add new moderators.
We have made important new discoveries as to how best use the BHT treatment. Supplements and foods to avoid and NOT take include: Milk thistle and its extracts, Vitamin E supplements, and grapefruit juice.
Things that help with the BHT treatment include vitamin B12 and vitamin D and maybe the lipid monolaurin.
So please do join the NEW group if interested here:

Please do NOT join the original or old group because you be instucted to join that NEW group I just posted a link to above.
As always I encourage all people trying the BHT treatment to post their results here at the EARTH CLINIC. This is the BIG forum where people are most likely to read what you have to report....Oscar

★★★★★
Yes, that bald spot is gone and my hair is much less grey. I used to have a bald spot about 4 inches in diameter. That bald spot is GONE. And my hair is getting darker.
Since and only since I have been taking one 350mg of BHT every day this improvement in the condition of my hair has improved the in the ways I just described. Have any other BHT users noticed a dramatic improvement in baldness and hair color ? ...Oscar

Dear Oscar, I am very new to this forum and having read all the posts I cannot belive that there is a cure for Hepatitis B. Over the years I have been told a number of times by many doctors that I have to live with this virus for the rest of my life. I have been diagnosed with acute Hepatitis B in 2003, so it's been now nearly 10 years or more as I really do not know when I cought the virus. I would like to try the BHT treatment but do you think I have chances of clearing the virus having been infected for so long? There is a lot mentioned about possible side effects but what are these? Is there a specific diet I should follow while taking BHT? Is it recommnded to tcombine it with other supplyments like Chanca Piedra And lastly, how long should the treatment last? I would much appreciate some advise.

Dear Rozamora from Bangkok, Yes the BHT has been shown to be an effective treatment for hepatitis B for at least some people. I am one of those people and tablcorn over at the BHT CURES GROUP is another. And I have also read that BHT is in some way related to vitamin E.
I can assure you the two compounds are very different and that BHT is far better than vitamin E as an average lifespan extender.
BHT showed an average lifespan increase of between 22% and 31%. Vitanin E showed NO increase in average lifespans. There is this tert-butyl effect and other properties BHT has that other compounds do NOT. You can check out the BHT CURES GROUP if you wish to here:

Hi oscar just ask if there's a possibility that BHT can treat HBV? I heard that BHT is a similar with Vitamin E.
