ACV doesn't really do anything to me but when I was on a quest to find cures for so many things in my life, I avoided ACV because it is NOT nice. I have a track record of being the bravest, so I hope you know how much I hate it so trust me, this recipe is so nice I crave it so much I had to limit myself to 2 a day, otherwise apple juice is expensive at this rate.
2 tablespoons of ACV and I either put enough baking soda for it to stop fizzing or 1/4 teaspoon of it. Add apple juice. I usually only do 3/4 the cup. That's it. See, I took time off my tight schedule to tell everyone this because it seems like people like me aren't drinking it and everyone's saying that it works for so many things, just not for me.
Happy ACVing

I honestly cannot discern from your comment whether or not ACV works for you."NOT nice"-tasting? Or just not good, altogether? If it "does not work" for you, and you are still taking it this way, it could be because the ACV benefits were coming from the acidic properties of the ACV, and you've been neutralizing the acid completely with the baking soda.

I was desperately trying to cure my chronic sinus infection and then stumbled onto this site. After reading all the comments about ACV it reminded me of a drink called Switzel that my father, who was a farmer, used to drink. It was very tasty and grew up drinking it like others would drink koolaid. It was water, sugar and ginger mixed together and then chilled. I looked it up online and actually found recipes for it.... But the ones I found used honey instead of sugar. It makes sense..... Farmers work in the hayfields, where I would think sinus problems would be a big problem. Home remedies are usually very effective. I am posting the recipe I found and then I am going to make me a batch of it. Enjoy!
8 cups water
½ cup apple cider vinegar
½ cup honey
1 teaspoon ground ginger
Mix all ingredients in a pitcher and then refrigerate until icy!

I'm going to try this recipe tomorrow, I think I will use fresh, chopped ginger and bring it to a simmer and steep the ginger for about 10 minutes, let it cool a bit and add the honey and vinager then refrigerate! Sounds like a health drink! Can't wait to try it!

I drink apple cider vinegar in a glass (8 oz) of spicy hot V8 juice. I don't notice the vinegar taste very much that way and it's easy when I travel, as I can take a six-pack of small individual cans with me. During a severe sinus attack, I sometimes heat it in the microwave, adding several chopped raw garlic cloves to the drink. With chronic sinus inflammation, I'd try just about anything so I could breathe. I also have sleep apnea, so I can't go to bed until I can breathe through the CPAP mask.

I have found a very good way to drink the apple cider vinegar. No need to pinch your nostrils! I add it to my juiced carrots and it actually enhances the taste for me. I add a stalk of celery also.

ACV Chai
I have created an ACV Vanilla Chai beverage that is very palatable. I create it in 64 oz batches using a 1 tsp ACV to 8 oz of water ratio. I use organic/natural vanilla chai tea bags (3 or 4), add 8 tsp of honey, 1 tbsp of cinnamon and ~1 tbsp of cloves for taste. The beverage/concoction is delicious either hot or cold. I usually drink it tepid.

I have been taking Apple Cider Vinegar 2x daily since I read how amazing it was for you on this site a few months ago... (in 10oz hot water with a little raw honey) but today my friend who I got to start taking it showed me the most amazing way to take it- especially if you dislike the taste. She makes a tea pot with 1 bag of ginger tea, and 1 bag of apple tea and then adds the ACV. It was AMAZING! And great hot or cold - I really could drink this all day long - and you hardly taste the ACV. She carries it to work in a glass jar and sips it throughout the day.
I really believe ACV is life-altering in the best way. I feel like it clears out your body and being.
One of my friends was sick with a flu or a little virus and he took the recommended bath by Dr. Hazel Parcells - 2 cups of ACV in a hot bath - stay in for 20-25minutes till the water turns a bit cold.... And sipped a cup of warm water, 2 TBS ACV and some raw honey. He fell asleep for over 10 hours and woke up feeling better! He said his whole body relaxed deeply and I am sure in his sleep his body was healing.
I am convinced that ACV is something that we all need daily!

I have a delicious recipe for apple cider vinegar, honey, and mint which requires boiling the 3 ingredients and after it cools off you add the mixture and a few ice cubes to grated cucumbers and enjoy the most refreshing drink. Does boiling the cider nullify its health benefits?

I'd beware of boiling the vinegar in a pot. The benefits of the acid are mostly going towards the cleaning your pot.

You can boil it. It doesn't decrease the health benefits. Most vinegar is distilled or boiled as part of the process of making it. You can use it either way! Enjoy your health benefits!

Doesn't the boiling also destroy the healthy properties of the honey?

PLEASE HELP!!!
I went to the Whole Foods Store and puchased some organic ACV w/Mother yesterday.
Here's the thing: It tastes sooo bad, I couldn't get it down. I was bucking (almost vomiting) like a kid being made to eat ocra!!! (LOL). I did as one poster on here suggested, and filled a 2 ounce shot glass with the ACV, then trasferred that to an 8 ounce glass, and filled the glass with bottled water. I tried to drink it, but I just coudn't stand the taste!
Anyway, my questions are:
1) What do most of you use to make it taste better ? and what juices or other drinks could I use with it That would not counteract the benefits of the solution in the ACV ? What drinks or juices should I stay away from using with it (and why) ?
2) Is there a brand of ACV that comes in a pill or capsule form that would be the same as taking it in liquid form ?
Thanks ahead of time for your suggestions b/c I really need to get my pressure down asap and I'm hoping ACV Will work!

Most people don't see any benefits from using apple cider vinegar pills. I personally take about an ounce of ACV and combine it with 2 ounces of lemon juice, then fill a tall glass with water. That gives it more of a lemonade taste to the drink and you may find that easier to take.

2 teaspoons mixed in with some apple juice shouldn't be too hard to get down. If it still is, mix the ACV with a little honey first and then into the apple juice.

Hi SueZ, most people don't like the taste of Apple Cider Vinegar so don't feel alone on that point. It is really disguised when put in apple juice. That seems to be the best to mix it with.
I don't think there is anything in the juice and liquid flavouring area that it can't be mixed with although it would curdle in milk obviously.
Yes there is an Apple Cider Vinegar in capsule form but I don't think it has the same benefits as the liquid Apple Cider Vinegar with mother. Cheers Lily.

Two ounces of ACV in 8 oz. of water is quite strong. You may want to try again using just a spoonful.

Here in Europe I have never found ACV with the mother, neither in the supermarkets nor in the health shops, not in Switzerland either (if it exists it is well hidden, I tell you! ). Therefore I don't even know what the mother looks like. You can find Bio, unfiltered ACV and that is what I use. I never drink it pure so I have no idea what it really tastes but I use it in salads and it tastes like regular vinegar. When I drink it I always mix it with water only or else also with molasso, cayenne pepper, maybe turmeric..... But I am always surprised that ACV in the US seems to taste far worse than ours because I can tell you that a Tbspoon of ACV in a regular Glass of water doesn't taste bad at all! Maybe not what you would drink for pleasure but it really doesn't taste bad!

.. I have a wonderful recipe that is also very healthy... Boil 32 oz of water for a tea, turn off heat and add 4 tea bags of rasberry zinger, add 1 table spoon of raw honey and 8 tablespoons of ACV. Pour over ice and simply sip through out the day..... The tea and the honey cut the taste and after the first sip you almost can't stop drinking the stuff ...Enjoy

Just found an amazing way to take ACV.... And enjoy it!! Mix your ACV (can be any amount really as the taste is masked so well) and mix with ginger and lemongrass cordial ( I used greenbottle, but there may be a different brand in the US) and sparkling water... Yum!! I hope this helps :)

To Erica from Salt Lake City: I have osteopenia so take Calcium twice a day and I am also prone to kidney stones. Calcium carbonate contributes to the kidney stones so I take calcium citrate (I take Citracalc with Vitamin D to help the absorption) which does not contribute to kidney stones instead of calcium carbonate. Check your multi-vitamin - many have calcium carbonate. Calcium carbonate is also in most antacids - like Tums.

To Whom it may concern, I could not stand the taste of the Vinegar and water mix when I drank it or the smell of it when it came out as sweet so I come up with this mixture on my own. I take a half gal. Jug of 100% grape juice and pour out 1/3 cup of it down the drain or drink it. I then pour in 1/3 cup of Heinz Apple Cider and mix it up and chill in refrigerator. I drink one cup of that mixture everday with 2 tablespoons of Kretschmer's wheat germ added. The easiest way to do this is to take an empty bottle of Kretschmer's and put a piece of tape on it at the one cup level. The day before pour in the jar one cup of that mixture and add 2 tablespoons Wheat Germ. I swirl it around in the jar and drink it down. My Sinuses have cleared up as well as my Arthitis.

For those who are using the Apple Cider Vinegar in water and don't like the taste, it works and tastes great when you mix it with Apple juice, a dash of cinnamon, and a little honey. I heat it in the microwave and drink in the morning instead of my coffee. It keeps my congestion at a minimum, and I have chronic allergies to everything, so this is a true God send for me.

For those asking what you can add to the ACV to make it sweeter, just add the ACV to a glass of apple juice and you can barely taste it. I just started with 1 t. In a small glass of apple juice and it just tastes like apple cider. I'll be increasing that to 2 t. Soon. I'll be experimenting with the ACV, water, and apple juice mixtures in a big bottle that I can sip throughout the day. I'll post the results soon.

Continuous contact of the cider vinegar on the teeth is not good for the enamel and can soften it. Best to consume at varied times of the day.

ACV + Maple Syrup

I just started using acv for arthritis in my thumb. My husband has always mixed his acv in maple syrup and suggested I do the same. It's very good. I mix 2 tablespoons acv, 1 tablespoon maple syrup in about 10-12 oz. water. It's just enough sweet to take the edge off plus maple syrup has beneficial nutrients.

I've noticed the several postings regarding ACV recipes - however can you take the ACV straight 1 or 2x a day?
Recipes
Posted by Greensativa (Bullhead City, Arizona) on 01/01/2011
Because of the acidity it would not be advised to take it straight without any sort of other liquid to dilute it. It can burn the mouth and throat tissue.
Recipes
Posted by Tvmademedoit (Lawdale, Ca) on 06/15/2011
It can wear on your teeth and cause much damage to your insides over time if it is not diluted. It is HIGHLY acidic.
