I seem to be allergic to apple cider vinegar? does anyone know how this can be possible? can an over growth to yeast in my body have something to do with that?

Had an unpleasant reaction - face very red, after cleansing with organic, unpasteurised ACV (diluted 50/50 with boiled cooled water) followed by massage with castor oil. Used castor oil as a pack earlier - abdomen area seems fine. Was it the ACV dilution or combined with castor oil or something else?

Hi, I have found castor oil rub and packs to be very beneficial and Cayce wrote 1000's of pages on this healing gem. However, when I used the castor oil packs on the abdomen, I did feel much better in the long run, but experienced a healing crisis with increased upper right quadrant pain and aches and pains. Castor oil is a powerful medicine and I believe the body responds accordingly to the degree of imbalance. It gets worse before better :-)

I have been taking 1 to 2 tablespoonfuls of ACV in apple juice per day on and off. I noticed that within a few days of taking ACV my skin gets very, very dry, and at time it gets quite scaly. So I discontinue taking it and my skin improves almost immediately. Do other people have this problem with their skin while on ACV and if so how do they solve it? I would like to continue taking ACV to lower my blood pressure.
This problem with dry skin reminds me of a time when I had too much vitamin A from fish oil. In fact the fine print on a cod liver oil bottle warns people against takikng too much oil because of excessive Vitamin A and the problems with dry skin. I quit taking cod liver oil a year ago, so the dry skin problem is from ACV. I also take herbal tea, such as Chinese blood pressure tea and nettle tea. Do you think that these teas in combination with ACV would dry the skin? Thanks.

Hi Ruthie,
The same thing happened to me when I began taking ACV. I had too much, I think; the next day my face was dry and scaly and very itchy! So I stopped altogether and then tried it again in smaller amounts. That time I was fine. Now I usually put 2 tsp ACV with 1 tsp or so of raw honey in a 20 oz bottle shake it up. I can drink two of these in a day. Other people have said to start small and work up so your body adjusts to the changes.

Lia. Does the honey help reduce blood pressure or is it intended to make the ACV drink taste good? Thank you for your response.

I mix 2 tbsp of Apple Cider Vinegar with a little honey and drink it like that. Like a shot once a day. Is that okay? Everyone talks about drinking it with 8 oz of water. Am I hurting myself taking it my way?

Dear Friends -
We sincerily appreciate the work done by Earth Clinic and would like to make a brief comment. We have just finished reading Side Effects, under apple cider vinegar, which is under High blood pressure, which is under Ailments. We appreciate your printing all the negative testimonies from the use of apple cider vinegar.
Any normal person should be able to decide to leave this item alone. It is true that apple cider vinegar causes fermentation to take place in the stomach. Food does not digest but begins to decay and putrify, filling the blood with impurties. Liver, kidneys and heart are effected. Inflamation and many other evils are the results. What is amazing is that people will continue to use it as a healthful item after all the testimonies to the contrary that you have printed.

I must say I don't like the tone of Mr Wentlands comment. Obviously I am not 'normal' in his view. It is fine to point something out but don't judge people's intelligence.

Am I missing something, or are there not a lot more positive Comments about ACV than there are negative ones? Can you tell us where your info. Comes from, I would love to read it for myself. I, personally, have had nothing but positive results from ACV. Appreciate your input, but I agree that it was a little condesending, negating people's positive experiences.

Hi Kay. It is the old axim - if someone has a good experience they will tell five people, if they have a bad experience they will tell ten.
Good to know for business, and good to know for this site.
Say instead of feeling a bit better than usual... You broke out in a horrid rash after trying ACV... You would be MUCH more likely to come here and post to try to "warn" others, wouldn't you? I know I would!
Just let me state: I am SOLD on ACV (with the "Mother") and have been taking it every day for well over a year now. My husband is taking it too, since he saw a change in me. It is AMAZING stuff!
We take 2 TABLESPOONS of ACV with 1/4 TEAspoon of Baking Soda (sodium bicarbonate) and when it stops fizzing add 6-8 oz water, and a small splash of orange juice. This is first thing EVERY morning. Just be sure to get some daily potassium, eat a banana or drink a V-8 or tomato juice every day, as the baking soda eats up your potassium.

The fact that you believe food can actually "ferment" and "decay" in the stomach displays a fundamental ignorance of the workings of body processes.
ACV has been used by a great many people for a long, long time, and there are countless positive testimonies not only here but elsewhere, online and off. As with all things, ACV may not be right for some, but your remarks are simply ludicrous.

HI U CARLEY, several years ago I switched from Baking soda (sodium bicarbonate) to Potassium Bicarbonate, which you can buy at most wine making supply sites. Ted has brought this up numerous times and it makes sense because you need Potassium for more than you do Sodium. It has the same effect with ACV and turns your Body Alkaline just as baking soda does.

I'm not sure who you are replying to. I personally have no idea how the body works. I'm sure I wouldnt be as sick as this if I did. Everyone is different. I've been taking Apple Cider Vinegar for a year with very little noticeable change, perhaps my lungs have cleared a little. Maybe. Yet I can read everybody seems to have got totally better on the stuff. I've been doing everything else on this site also so who knows what worked to get my lungs a little clearer. It's been suggested severe candida is at the root of a lot of my problems. But there appears to be no conclusive tests. Its crashed my adrenals, thyroid, pancreas, liver. There are web sites that say vinegar is just 1 of the things that feed candida. But perhaps the benefits outweigh the negatives. If I knew how the body worked I wouldnt be so confused about a lot of things. And theres much conflicting info on the net especially about detoxing. Ludicrous is a fairly strong word. Perhaps you know a lot. Would you have any comments on the following? Would anyone? It might help others.
1/ Ted talks about cilantro, chlorella and other agents that many say are not good for detoxing because they only have 1 thiol.
2/ How do I get the much needed choline into me when Im so allergic to eggs and soy is bad for a bad thyroid.
3/ detox baths bad? when you have poor or non working adrenals?
4/ alpha lipoic acid - is it a miracle worker too - it can also feed candida apparently??

T from Maryland,
Foods digest in a certain order. That's just the way we are and why you should eat the slow digesting stuff last, such as protein.

When the body reacts to something like ACV, it is called a Healing Crisis. The body throws off toxins, junk, pollutants, etc., the Easiest way it knows. For some it could be via the sinuses, others the skin, etc.. Look up Bernard Jensen in regard to this.

Dierdre from earth clinic: a while ago you wrote that you had to stop taking Apple Cider Vinegar after having used it for a long time. Why did you stop? do you think starting out with a splash or so (less than 1/2 teaspoon) twice a day, might not have made you stop?

Hello All, found this site few weeks ago & am loving it. Started on ACV, it having all the good stuff in it, ie, Organic & Mother! Thing is, since I started my sleep patterns, which were very bad, are now impossible. The only things I have changed in my diet (which is good) is my introducing ACV & Coconut Oil. Sleep won't come. Any thoughts?

Hi Ali -
I bet it is the VCO (virgin coconut oil) keeping you awake. It really makes me energetic, which is why I take it in the morning, and only then - so that it has worn off by the time I go to bed. If you are taking it later in the day you may want to reconsider... Or cut back on how much you are taking for a few days to see if this is what is doing it. Also - I have been taking 3mg of melatonin at night, about 30 mins before bed... And I sleep like a baby! You might want to try it, or read about it. Good luck! Carly :)

I tried the Apple Cider Vinegar drink; 2 teaspoons in grapefruit juice, 2 x a day.... It constipated me so badly I could not believe it... When I finally 'went' it was the bursting of the dam, so to speak.... I stayed off it for 2 weeks, then back on, again the same thing happened.... Again, off 2 weeks, then tried a THIRD time; same results... I have no idea why this is happening, but am afraid I'll never be able to use the ACV drink again.. Any thoughts? or similar experiences?? I am really shocked that this happened to me....

Hi Bg, try 2tblspns of apple cider vinegar with 1/4tspn of baking soda in it, that will help with the constipation, it may even make you go a little faster than normal. Don't do this before you go out, do it when you are home for a while just in case. Lily.

My husband was experiencing extreme pain in his side and to his lower back together with nausea. We went for blood tests, X-ray and cat scan - nothing. I was so happy to find this site. We started 1TBSP ACV daily with teaspoon of honey. The attacks stopped for 2 1/2 weeks and on Thursday he had another one but this one did not stop: nothing I tried helped and eventually 4pm Friday he was admitted into hospital as we could not stop the nausea or the pain: he was dehydrated. They put a camera down into his stomach which they say is red and inflamed and that ACV is too acidic. I have since read that you recommend less and to put a little in your water all day. DO YOU THINK IT IS AT ALL POSSIBLE THAT IT COULD HAVE DONE THIS TO HIS STOMACH? We are still headed for an MRI, ultra sound and a bone scan. I am feeling really guilty if the ACV could have done this to his stomach. I will continue using the site for myself because I think it is amazing but not for my husband. I really would appreciate comments from Ted or anyone else who may be able to help. Thank you.

A friend takes ACV and said it will make my body PH alkaline. I tried it many times and put it on my salad as well. However, I do not see how a strong acidic product can make you more alkaline. I tend to have an acidic urine (5) and need to move it more towards alkaline (7). I suffer from burning stomach, acid reflux, etc. I am not so sure ACV is good for me as too much acidity can cause uric acid and/or gout and form uric acid stones. When I take ACV too much, my system starts to burn and hurt so I really think everyone's system is different.
