Years ago, I always started bleeding after 2 weeks of drinking a teaspoon of ACV with a glass of water.

Last month I decided to try drinking ACV again, with the same dosage and was ok for awhile, actually feeling better than usual. But stopped when my period seemed to be starting.

But now, I have been FLOODING for at least 21 days and it looks like it will go on. I am not sure if this has anything to do with drinking ACV.

Or whether I should start drinking regularly, so the flooding will stop.

Any ideas?

HI I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW WHY IT IS WHEN I DRINK APPLE CIDER CAPPSULES I FEEL THAT I HAVE HEARTBURN AND A UNCOMFORTABLE FEELING IN MY TUMMY? I HAVE 2 CAPSULES IN THE MONING AND 2 IN THE AFTERNOON. PLEASE HELP

EC: A few people on Earth Clinic have reported heartburn after taking apple cider vinegar capsules, among other side effects. We have never recommended the capsules on this site.

On the other hand, organic apple cider vinegar from the bottle diluted in plenty of water reportedly cures heartburn!

Yes Apple Cider Vinegar can certainly thin your blood. I am on Warferin 2 1/2mg per day for Atril Fibrillation with a target INR of 2.5 but as long as I am in the range between 2 to 3 I'm ok. My usual reading was 2.1 until I took Cider Vinegar when it went up to 2.9. This is thinner than 2.1. I think this can be a good thing as my blood pressure also came down and I don't have any adverse effects. My INR is monitored by the hospital about once a month. Hope this helps.

Noels

WARNING!

hi!

im a patient of DVT and PE (twice) and im on blood thinners to maintain an adequate INR value. as most patients will know that green vegetable can lower the INR value due to the Vitamin K content in them but ACV does the same.

im an ardent fan of ACV since 1994 and have been using it regularly but have had to stop using it after getting DVT. i have monitored my blood INR before and after having acv many a times and every time just after having it for 4 days my blood INR dropped to 1.2 when the i should be between 2 - 3.

in other words avc tends to clot the blood so dvt, pe and all other patients PLEASE DO NOT HAVE ACV while on blood thinning medication.

im bitterly missing acv since i know how wonderful it is for so many problems.
hope this helps

DVT = Deep Vein Thrombosis
PE = Pulmonary Edema
INR = International Normalized Ratio (for blood clotting time)

does anyone know why acv would cause vaginal bleeding? I mixed it with a drop of honey and a teaspoon of lemon and heated it and after 2 days. It caused vaginal bleeding. That was about 4 years ago. I tried it again about a month ago this time I did not heat it and the same thing happened after about 2 days.

Hi Janie,

Perhaps, you have parasites and the acv and lemon disturbed them which is what all the sudden itching was about. I know it can be used to rid parasites. As for raw, organic honey, there are so many good benefits to it. It might be worth it to see if that is the case and consider getting rid of them. Detoxing is not always a very pleasant experience!

Dear Janie D.

I never respond or write in forums, chat rooms or to emails for that matter, but yours really got the better of me. You mention that you read that Honey is bad for you or, that at least it's bad affects out weigh it's benefits. That can't be right. Are you sure that it isn't instead, that you don't like honey? You see I have always liked honey even though my family did not use it when I was growing up. We were always a straight white sugar family. My mother and sister have suffered horrible health since their mid to late twenties. I have always been a bit of a health nut and was the one in the family more inclined to read up on healthy alternatives and then gravitate towards them. Such as whole wheat over white bread and flax ground up in my oatmeal instead of box cerial, or juice and tea instead of soda and koolaid, or natural peanut butter over the crappy fake stuff, etc. But still even after I left home I did not really buy much honey because it was expensive and less convienient than sugar, also I was not really sure how to use it in all the same ways as regular sugar. But in my mid twenties I became addicted to it's use in my hot beverages and also as a wonderful combination with peanut butter on bread or bananas. Then in my early mid thirties I moved to the country and decided to try raising honey-bees. As you can imagine, I began to read alot about honey and it's benefits to health, both real and imagined. I read about royal jelly and bee pollin and mead. I read about burn clinics and how honey is being used more today in treating burn victoms than it was fifty years ago because science has not been able to improve on it's hydroscopic and anti-bacterial properties. It apparently is one of the best wound mediums for the regrowth of human tissue. Honey it turns out is not "just" sugar. There are many other constituent nutrients in sugar and it metabolizes differently from sugar. Honey is not processed if your buying natural, raw, organic, or local honey. I know every bee keeper in my politacally conservative area of Texas and none of them use chemicals or heat their honey or pastuerize. There are no additives or colors or flavor enhancers and unlike sugar it is not bleached. Todays folks are lucky to get "real" sugar since everything is sweetened in this country with corn syrup which according to my research is much worse for human long term health than is granulated cane or beet sugar. So my point here is simply this! I have spent hundreds of hours searching the net and books and magazines on the subject of health and honey and can't recall a single authoritative article doubting the numerous benefits of Honey. I find it difficult to believe that you did some reading on the subject, only to find that it is not all that good for you. I would be greatly interested to know your source material. I would like to remind every one that honey is one of the oldest known foods consumed by humans. And that since the 1500s honey has been a food source found in nearly every region of the Earth. I can think of no food that has been subject to as much scrutiny and bonafide medical research as is honey. With the exception of feeding honey to infants under one year of age, I have never read deleterious reports on honey and human health but only the numerous benefits.

One classic book on the subject is the medical Doctor Bodog F. Beck's "Honey and Health". This particular book is 250 pages of factual info on honey and health with some of the writings being borrowed from the ancient Greeks and Romans. But I am a firm believer that proof is in seeing. What I have seen over the last twenty-five years is that those people who consume refined sugar and sodas and high fructose corn sweetened products have poor health at best and disease at worst. Those people I have known for 25 years or more who eat honey, molases, sorghum etc, seem to be in wonderful health with no use of pharmacueticals and no excess weight. Yes I realise that whole health is related more to a total life style change and a lifetime habit of health, but I also know that, that habit is more likely to start with the simple choices one makes such as in choice of sweeteners. Did you know that an article printed in Mens Health magazine a few years ago stated that a recent medical study in the middle east indicated that blood sugar levels in subjects fed honey actually decreased. The article was talking about the possible eventual use of honey for diabetic patients.

I apoligize to everyone for being preachy. And no I do not sell honey or make a living from it in any way, but I do come from a family that struggles with weight issues and poor health and know that I eat a pint of raw honey every week to two weeks and am five feet elevin and weigh 165 pounds and at 44 years of age have never had a prescription filled or spent a day in a hospital and can out run my nephews even though I don't work out, or work at it. I also don't have cavities.

I do want to state that it is possible you were having a reaction to your honey with the itching you described. I'm not denying that possibility. The plants visited in the area by the bees that produced the honey you ate might be something you are very allergic too. Switching to another honey from another area, or harvested at a differnt time of year might do the trick. Otherwise you might have a test done to get to the bottom of what causes such a reaction.

Dear Richard, You shouldn't apologize- you have very good points. I happen to agree and know that honey, bee pollen and royal jelly are gifts to this planet. Honey is a very powerful food and is full of enzymes which help us tremendously. Thanks for your input and perhaps your info will help someone out there. Sincerely, Lisa

Janie: never take one source's word for anything (that includes here - and me!). The PDF you linked to has the line "It [honey] is deficient in calcium and has many detrimental effects on the human being". It should take far more than one vague, unsubstantiated statement to make up your mind on something. Exactly what are these "many detrimental effects"? And where is the evidence of them?

Honey has been used for thousands of years and its uses and benefits have been extensively documented across a number of cultures. Ayurveda uses honey in some remedies. Just for the sake of argument, if I were to take just one bit of information to go on as you did, that would do it for me, because a lot of what is used in Ayurveda is now being proven to do just what that 5,000 years old system of medicine claims.

The PDF goes on to say "According to one authority..." What authority? Why don't they name them? Where are the references that any legitimate, responsible writer would include? Many writers are skilled at sneaking this kind of fudging in to convey the impression that they are authoritative and have some sort of backing for their statements. I have been finding this to be particularly true in the "alternative" health field, which is quite sad since it tarnishes this valuable field which already faces enough battles. Never forget that critical thinking is a NECESSITY, especially when it comes to taking health recommendations from any source. Examine all, research all, question all.

Richard, you said "I never respond or write in forums, chat rooms or to emails for that matter..." I hope you will reconsider as I found your post very interesting. You have contributions to make - don't be afraid to jump in and make them :)

BETTER BUT WITH SIDE EFFECTS

Vinagar did everything it is supposed to do for me. No more constipation, no more dehydration, more energy and loss of weght, however my mind does not function as well, I can't remember the names of the insects I try to classify. I am going to take less and take it in tea to help lose water from my blood to reduce the increase in BP. My blood pressure is too low, but now it goes a bit too high.

I can't understand the inability to concentrate. I am still experimenting and now am taking one teaspoon in a cup of tea with some artifical sugar.

EC: Have you read some of the side effects reported from artificial sugar? Brain fog is one of them!

Dear Renee:

Apple Cider Vinegar may not for some who has metabolic acidosis. A person with low levels of bicarbonates to neutralize the acidity may experience headaches. Therefore, a baking soda is added to neutralize the acid. My experience has been that an acid reflux works similar to that of yeast, which causes gas to rise as it ferments from the stomach. Most fungus yeast like bacterium are destroyed either from increasing the acidity of the stomach acid, or by alkalizing the body sufficient to neutralize them. The second remedy that is used is 2 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar plus 1/2 teaspoon of baking soda in 1 glass of water taken twice or three times a day. The resultant pH here is roughly 7.5 pH when it's fully reacted, but will see a 7.0 pH initially. Acid reflux is noticed whenever a saliva 's pH to be below 7, instead of the usual 7.3 and a person has a lot of acid reflux at 6.5, become very weak and insomnia whenever saliva pH is below 6.

The baking soda may raise a little of saliva pH, but the effect is seen more if the potassium bicarbonate or the preferred tripotassium citrate is added along with baking soda. The third remedy I used is 2 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar plus 1/2 teaspoon of baking soda plus 1/4 teaspoon of potassium citrate in one glass (or if a person has trouble taking a full glass, then 1/2 glass of water may be necessary). It takes about over a week for the body to neutralize the acidity accumulated in the body and the acid reflux to subside.

A little known information is that most fungus, as in yeast, tend to grow at low acid condition, where the pH is between 4- 5.0. Most healthy person has a pH below 3 whenever the stomach needs to digest food. Starches, peanuts, potatoes and especially low acid food as in orange juice or fruit juice may wosen the condition as pH is acid but not too acid and tends to add fuel to the fire and this is how acid reflux is tested.

The simplest of all remedy I used is baking soda alone, but a newer remedy I may add a small pinch of ammonium bicarbonate or ammonium chloride, which kills the fungus and yeast. However, baking soda alone works, but to effectively raise the esophagus, and throat pH, I may need to add the potassium. The remedy is 1/2 teaspoon of baking soda and 1/4 teaspoon of potassium citrate in at least 1/2 glass of water taken twice a day. This should have least effect on headaches and other problem. A potassium bicarbonate may be substituted. Some other people whose saliva pH is much lower such as 5.5, may require a lot more potassium to normalize the condition however. For example 1/2 teaspoon of baking soda plus 1 teaspoon of potassium citrate in 1 glass of water and taken at least twice a day. A yeast condition or an acid reflux, are quickly killed in some cases with 1/8 teaspoon of ammonium chloride or ammonium bicarbonate alone is possible. However, acid reflux in Thailand is generally rare and hard to find, but I had very few cases and is generally neutralized with the mentioned remedy. A person of acid relfux may also have low chromium, low vanadium, low manganese, low copper and low molybdenum, but the easiest way is to just avoid sweets and starches are the easiest. And then the drinking water we add minerals by simply adding the sea salt, either sea salt as in dead sea, himalayan or even the sea salt they used in fish aquarium, which have clearly labeled minerals on their packages.

The addition of sea salt is between 1/4 to 1/2 teaspoon per liter of water. If a drinking water has contaminated with heavy metals, the addition of 1/4 or even 1/8 teaspoon of sea salt will taste unusually salty or metallic. In which case adding to ordinary bottled mineral water would not have this effect and the source of the contamination often comes from bad pipes and rusty or contaminated water faucets. So the sea salt is synergistic with the other remedies mentioned. The addition of baking soda cannot be added with any sea salt, because it has a laxative effect, unless of course a laxative effect is desired due to constipation.

For most headaches I found that excessive calcium and lack of magnesium and especially vitamin c deficiency to be the common cause. If I take 500 mg of sodium ascorbate vitamin C twice a day, all headaches are gone the next day. A high common table salt intake and sometimes too high of sea salt may cause a headache too. The common table salt causes much higher headache where the most common source comes from the all American diets of french fries and potato chips, which are acid, high in calcium and has high fats. Low potassium and low magnesium can cause it too. Too much calcium entering the brain leads to headache and a magnesium is antagonistic so it reduces them. A potassium citrate increases alkalinity as do a baking soda and reduces calcium from leeching of the bones as the blood alkalinity is increased thus reducing the headache that way. So there's many causes of headaches, but these are the major ones. The apple cider vinegar is acid so a body without sufficient alkalinity to neutralize this has high blood calcium as the acidity causes higher leeching from the bones and reaching the brain and it's more worse if the person has low level of vitamin C, the form I prefer is sodium ascorbate, because it's an alkaline form, as opposed to an acid form of vitamin C such as ascorbic acid.

Hi, Renee. I have 2 suggestions for you. First is to try 5ml (instead of 10ml) of ACV in 500ml water and see if that dosage suits you better. Second is to increase your daily water intake. ACV may be flushing out toxins from your body and without water, the toxins remain in the body and cause problems. So, more water will ensure the toxins are flushed out. Also, tiredness and headaches can be your body's way of telling you that you need more water. Best wishes.

I suggest you stop everything you are putting on your face. Use a face cleanser of your choice - not the shea butter soap; you are adding more oil to your face and you don' t need that. After you wash your face, then use 100% tea tree oil. Do this at night time only. The smell is very potent, so you don't want to smell like tea tree oil during the day!

In the morning use only water to wash your face. If you need a light moisturizer, check out ___ [drugstore] in their face cleaning section and find one that is good for acne.

Your shea butter soap- use that for your body. I personally use shea butter and vitamin E formula I get from ____ [drugstore], as my moisturizer in the morning - but I don't have major acne problems.

My son was having major bumps on his face from shaving. In addition to changing what type of razor he used, he added tea tree oil to his nightly regimen. His face cleared up!

Tea tree oil is expensive for the little bottle ( get it at ____ or some local pharmacy store like it). The cost is around $13 for 1 fl oz. BUT it lasts a long time! Everytime I would get a pimple or feel one coming. I would put the tea tree oil on and it usually was either gone the next day or smaller. Gone by day two or three.

I had horrible acne for about three months from excessive facials and using too many various facial products. The cure was the the virgin coconut oil.

It has been less than a week since I threw out all my expensive products and switched to virgin coconut oil. I wash my face with a face wash that only has natural ingredients - absolutely no parabens!. Don't over wash your face either. Twice daily - max.

I then apply the virgin coconut oil as often as needed. I understand that your experiencing more oil production, but the virgin coconut oil will help balance.

Another thing to consider - ingesting the virgin coconut oil. Just make sure you don't use refined coconut oil It's not the same.

Good luck.

Hello Laurie,

You might try breaking that tbsp. of ACV down into l teaspoon in a glass of water with meals (3 times a day) to see if that stops the problem of the tongue swelling. If not, you might try Ted's sea salt along with it because I think I read that somewhere in his advice for reducing edema.

I just wanted to add to this in case others experience the same blood spots.

Both acetic acid and sodium bicarbonate are anticoagulants.

Eating high vitamin K foods helps coagulation of the blood. Which in theory should counter the issue.

There could be too many anticoagulant foods and drink in your diet. There are soo many and are supposed to be healthy.

Green tea, cranberry juice, tonic water, chamomile tea, herbs like thyme and oregano, fish oil... I would google search the supplements, food and drink you consume often and check if they are anticoagulants or blood thinners.

Hi! About two weeks ago I started taking acv. I take 1 tbsp in the morning, again at noon, and then again before bed (totaling 3 tbsps a day). I first drink several gulps of water, then take the acv like a shot, and follow with at least 8 oz of water. I've suffered from seasonal and indoor allergies since I was a child and about 4 days after starting the acv I had a horrible allery attack that lasted a little over 24 hrs. After the attack my right ear clogged up (I had been having problems with it for weeks) for 12 hrs or so. Then 5 days ago I had an eczema outbreak. At first it began on my chest, underarms, sides of and under my breasts. That cleared up and then it appeared on my wrists, knees, ankles, inner thighs, and the backs of my thighs. My eczema has always occured only on my hands and started after the birth of my son, it was severe for several years but then cleared up and has only popped up mildly since. The only other time I've had eczema on the rest of my body was last November after learning my mom had cancer and it cleared up after about three days. Anyhow since the allergy attack and clogged ear I haven't had any more problems and with the exception of the eczema I have felt great.

My question is could the acv be the reason I've had these symptoms and is it because it's flushing all the toxins from my body? Or could I be having some type of allergic reaction? The eczema is clearing up completely and I suspect will be gone in a day or so and I haven't sneezed once since the allergy attack a week ago. I'm really hoping this is just the course the acv can take you on, feeling worse before feeling better. I've also bathed in acv several times, maybe I over did it? Lastly I started taking filtered acv first because it was all I could find but for the last four days I've taken organic raw acv with the mother that I found at a health food store.

Sorry to be so long winded, I just wanted to be as detailed as possible! Thanks in advance for any feedback!

I was taking ACV for a number of health conditions. I was taking it at 1/2 to 1 tsp in 8 oz water and 1/4 tsp baking soda and a little honey. I started having uncontrollable and very painful exploding diarrhea. It was like the drink was going straight through me so I switched to the capsules of AVC thinking it may have been hard on my stomach but the same thing happened. Apple Cider Vinegar

I have been taking about 1 tablespoonful with lemon and (occasionally honey), warm water and a little grape juice in the morning. Always feel well with it. However recently I got overly keen and applied it straight to my hair/scalp, no water, and left on for hours. Not a good idea I think.

I have begun losing hair each time I brush/comb and never used to do so. After 6 weeks hair feels quite thin and very itchy on the scalp at the back. This might be a detox reaction so not too worried about that.

I am going to stop for a month to gauge reactions and if I continue to consume I shall take much smaller amounts. Otherwise generally healthy for my age. Did anybody else notice any hair loss directly attributable to ACV?

I wanted to check with you about my intake of ACV which has been going for last 6 months, but I have lately got the pityriasis rosea rashes on my torso/stomach/ribs/back area.

Are they both interlinked i.e., can taking ACV cause these rashes with PR, should I be worried off? also can I still continue taking the ACV and would this worsen the rashes count .

Thank you,
