I've just started using the cayenne powder/spice today. After trying 1 teaspoon in warm water, I'm gonna take a lesson from the Aztecs and start drinking mine in Hot Cocoa. This way I'll be able to look forward to it everyday cuz I LOOOOOOOVE CHOCOLATE!!! I found my cayenne at the Amish store, so it should be fine. The Amish are very smart about what they put in their bodies. Evidently, the Aztecs were pretty smart people also. Hope this helps someone. Big thanks to everyone on this site that's continually helpin' me : )

Mix the cayenne pepper with tomato juice or vegetable juice. It goes down much easier than mixing it with water.

Cayenne Pepper For Cuts

I had a piece of loose cuticle skin on the side of my left thumbnail. One evening while watching a movie I did a stupid thing and tore it off. I tore the top two or three layers of skin off the entire side of my thumbnail leaving raw skin. I cleaned it with peroxide, put on some ointment and a bandage and forgot about it. Three weeks went by and it did not heal. Usually if I keep it pulled away from the nail it will heal up ok. But three weeks went by and now my thumb was swollen and an ugly purple color and hurt bad. I had some antibiotic on hand and after taking that I began to feel better but the ulcer had formed under the cuticle. I knew the ulcer had to be removed before the skin would heal. I got a new razor blade and every thing I would new to clean it and moved to the bathroom sink to do the operation. The cuticle was still raw, ugly and painful but it had to be done. After removing the top half of the ulcer I let it bleed out to self cleanse the wound.

Before I did the operation I went to this site to see what others had used to heal cuts and I read the post by the women who was stuck on an outpost island for two days and put cayenne pepper on her husbands severe head wound. Up to this point everything I had used, ointment, iodine, peroxide, etc, had not worked. So I went to the cupboard and got the cayenne pepper and poured a generous amount over my raw and bleeding cuticle. It absorbed into the wound and stopped the bleeding immediately. I let it set for a couple minutes then shook off the excess and lightly put a bandage over it. Over the next few hours I could feel a slight stinging in the wound but I could also tell my thumb did not hurt as bad.

The next morning my thumb did not hurt at all so I removed the bandage and discovered my thumb was a nice healthy color and not swollen at all. I could not believe it!

The cayenne pepper had form a very healthy looking closure to the wound. When I washed my hands the pepper remained so I decided to let it stay a couple days to keep the wound clean. Two days later my thumb was completely healed so I washed off the pepper and everything look nice and healthy.

From now on when I get a cut or scratch I am NOT reaching for commercial ointments or salves, I am reaching for the Cayenne Pepper.

Best Wishes for a Peaceful World,
Don

A horse pushed me against my horse trailer a few years back & the aluminium sticking out cut me to the bone over the eye. I put cayenne in the wound & wraped a battle dressing around my head to keep it from dripping into my eye. From that moment there was no pain nor was there pain again through the healing...6 to 10 days.

As a point, a friend came to me with a cut deep into her knuckle. I have her cayenne & told her to change it every 3 days. Her pain went away during the healing (6 to 10 days) also there is no scar. The 1st year when her hand got cold you could see a blue mark. Now nothing. Rocky

Multiple Cures

This is my account of why cayenne pepper 150,000 - 300,000 BTU's kills the flu virus in significant numbers within 20 minutes, and with the use of activated powdered charcoal, is able to continue to do this, yet without hardly any hint of a burning sensation while yet maintaining the same power to kill the flu virus, as though one had taken the same amount of cayenne without the charcoal.

It is one thing to know that powerful cayenne tincture or powder is sudden death to the flu virus that attacks so many tens of millions or more times a year around the globe, but just as vital is that mixing of it in a ratio of at least 1cayenne:4charcoal making this remedy available to everyone other than the "super human's" that only could prefer the hot mix to the flu symptoms, besides, those kind of freaks of nature are unlikely to succumb to the flu anyway, so you can see how important the inclusion of charcoal is, if the remedy is to be of any use to the average person that has too much apprehension of the burn to take it in sufficient quality and quantity to kill the flu virus.

Fact one is merely a matter of observance: That if one is fortunate enough to be in a position to take at least one heap teaspoon of African Bird's Eye pepper (good quality and condition that is), and it has been mixed with at least four equally heaped teaspoons of activated powdered charcoal, and even better, had at least one to four spoonfuls of powdered barley green added (making sure that there is enough water in the mix to make a watery slurry rather than a paste, because this is to be drunk not eaten), that aesthetically removes the grittiness and helps lessen the need for as much charcoal, if it has been obviously a flu virus, the headache and fever symptoms drop off 100%, with loose stools possibly remaining, for 3-7 days but more in the case of the less serious flues. It seems, to my experience, that the more deadly flues have been the easiest to kill. Like the common cold the milder and more common varieties seem to cause diarrhea (although losing headache and fever just as quickly, as the more serious strains).

Fact two is: Anyone denying this assertion, while at the same time not supplying a better account, for why this observable fact one occurred, is telling us more about themselves (and the insufficient way that they view the world) rather than truthfully disproving the efficiency of cayenne and charcoal to painlessly and healthfully solve a very uncomfortable problem with horrible headaches, fever and loss of work time either in the work force, home care or the school attendance.

Just think of the number of hours lost to a nation's economy from all of the strains of the flu virus alone let alone other possible "bugs" that this remedy could also deal to.

One I know for sure is pneumonia, which I think is bacillus. I think that it is unacceptable that there is many container loads of the best quality African Bird's Eye cayenne in the pods still exported from Africa at around $4/kilo, making $70,000 a container, to disappear into the confusion of middlemen, certainly never to be seen in health shops or such like where it can save lives more than as bottled hot chilli sauce or something useless like that.

Feel free to post anything that I say at any time. Like Martin Luther, I am prepared to stand for what I believe in and be honest enough to put it to any test, while assuming responsibility to either defeat all comers or admit if someone can really show me where I am wrong.

Colds and Flu

Well, where to begin.

I got up Sunday with a tickle in my throat. I was suppose to sing at church and by the time I arrive could not. By half time of Superbowl the sore throat an congestion had set in.

Worked Mon, Tues and Wed thinking I could get through it, but after not sleeping Tues and Wed, I was simply put exhausted and tired of being sick.

Called in sick Thurs, figuring I really needed to rest to beat this, since I had not been this sick in 5 years. Missed work again Fri. By Fri evening I decided to look online for natural remedies.

My symptoms, sore (strep throat), hard packed congestion, coughing up the vilest green/yellow crap I have ever seen.

Having diagnosed myself with strep throat, I search Dogpile with ("strep throat" "natural cures"). This is how I found the Earthclinic website, of which I consider myself blessed to have found.

Under the "sore throat" section I read the "Penny's cayenne pepper remedy". I thought to myself, you have got to be kidding me.

However, I was so miserable I figured what do I have to loose. So I sprinkled some cayenne in a glass, mixed in some warm water and gargled about 5 times (swallowing only a very small amount each time).

By the time I was done, I could tell there was something good happening. I waited 15 minutes and repeated the same procedure. When I finished I just couldn't believe it. My swollen sore glands were all but gone and the thick green/yellow was breaking up.

I said "praise God", took a Melatonin (for sleeping) and crashed. I woke up about 3 hours later, hawked a few loogies (no where near as bad as before), gargled again and went back to sleep.

When I got up in the morning I simply could not believe how good my throat felt, so I gargled again thinking if what I did makes me feel this good, doing it again will make me feel even better. However, my sinuses were still pretty packed and discharge still fairly green/yellow.

By now Doris, my wife, had arose around 6:00 a.m. (she had the same thing prior to my getting it and still had not fully recovered now almost 2 weeks after it started). I told her the above, she then asked where did I get the info and what do they say about sinus infections.

We both looked at the site this morning and saw the info about Apple Cider Vinegar (ACV). We looked at each other in amazement, looked at the ACV on the top of the stove and made a couple of ACV cocktails for breakfast.

Within an hour I had no more green/yellow snot. It is now 10:30 a.m. and my nose still runs abit but clear discharge verses the vile stuff previously mentioned. I simply cannot put into words how much better my throat feels. 12 hours earlier I told my wife the best thing I could use for my throat would be a knife. :-)

I am still coughing a little but nothing like the 4 days prior that make your head ache and pound. Even sitting here finishing this script, I keep saying outloud to myself, "I can't believe how good my throat feels! I can't believe how good my throat feels! ..."

I am a skeptic who has been turned into an advocate. The only thing you have to loose is sleepless nights and a smaller pay check. Are you with me??

KATIE, ORH here, and you are giving good advice. I have carried Cayanne Extract in my gun bag for some 20 years and only in the last few years have had to use it when my pulse got over 180 and they wanted to put me in the ER. From your post, your problem is pluggage. EDTA Chelation will take care of your problem. My problem is electrical and my crimped Vagus vein prevents an ablation. So I take supplements and a blood thinner. Stopped the other rot gut Rx that makes you fell so bad. If you are not familiar with EDTA Chleation, then research and make a decision. I have had close to 100 and had no plaque around my heart at age 77. Did not plan on this electrical thing. I have lived a full life and still above ground. The Lord calls the shots. ====ORH====

I've been having the same experience for about 10 days now. I started taking cayenne to help me knick some "under the weather" feelings that were going around the office. Coworkers were feverish, phlegmy, etc and I wanted no part of it. Goodness me, my mood has gone through the roof! I seriously went to journal today because I don't remember any of the things I was so upset about, ha. It's like the pattern of inconsistent moods has been completely interrupted... My mind just doesn't go there. I don't suffer from depression but I haven't felt this consistently jovial and energetic outside of times when I was working out every single day. It's fantastic and I feel so alert and even-keeled.

Cayenne Pepper for clogged ear

Hi, recently I was experimenting on ways to get rid of an allergy so I tried snorting cayenne pepper up my nose to see if that works, I did this yesterday so im not sure yet however today when I was exercising at the gym I felt my right ear slowly popping and could start to feel the air coming freely through my ear! It had been clogged up for months and finally it feels so good! I use to use the eardrops the doctor gave me but they didnt work so I just left it alone and forgot about it. I reckon it was the cayenne because I only snorted through my right nostril and only my right ear freed up.

Strep Throat

Cayenne pepper cured a sore throat that had expanded and totally shut down all breathing including through the nose and mouth. I take 1/2 tsp of 90k heat units of cayenne daily in my protein drink along with several fruits and herbs etc. This past Friday night my throat became very sore and I could not swallow. The throat swelled and totally closed off. Breathing through the nostrils ceased as well. I put my fingers down my throat to give a convulsive reaction and try to get some air. My wife was going to call 911 and I waved her off. Finally after several tries to throw up I was able to get a little air. I had my wife drive to the store for some expectorants/lozenges etc. (the usual things we try).

I jumped on the net and found your site about the cayenne and gargle. I could not gargle so put 1/2 tsp of cayenne in warm water and sipped it down.

The breathing started to come back almost instantly.

After 3 cups of 1.2 tsp each, my breathing was back to normal and I was able to sleep for 5 hours without any discomfort. When I woke up, my throat was still a little sore so I drank a cup of "brew" 5 times during the day. The breathing was fine and the sore throat was gone but I still had some "cold" symptoms.

After two days I feel great. Being able to take a deep unrestricted breath has never felt so good.I noticed on your responses I was reading some people say they "sprinkle" some on and it doesn't work. Others are afraid to swallow some for fear it will hurt them.

Cayenne is one of the best herbs we have and has many uses. I would not use less than 1/2 tsp in a cup of water either warm or cold it still works.

Cayenne will heal internal bleeding and ulcers. It helps the heart and helps clear the arteries. Next time you have a cut and are bleeding take cayenne and "sprinkle" it liberally over the cut and watch it stop bleeding almost instantaneously. A great drink for hiking or driving long distances is about 20 ounces of fresh grape juice that you make in the blender and 1/4 to 1/2 tsp of cayenne. It takes a short while to get used to it BUT you will not fall asleep at the wheel and it is great for extra energy on a hike. We have used it for years.

I am glad I found your site and kick myself I did not think to put cayenne in water and drink it myself when I was in total oxygen deprivation.

A little trick to cut down on the really "hot" feel when swallowing cayenne:

Take a couple of swallows of cayenne then immediately close your mouth and do not breathe either through your nose or mouth. Wait about 10 seconds and drink a couple of swallows of water etc.

Also the "cayenne heat" slows down with each swallow until after awhile you barely notice it. Please notice that the store bought cayenne in the bottles is normally 5k heat units and some from health food stores is 40k heat units and some will be 90k heat units.

You can also special order it up to over 200k heat units. If you are using 5k heat units it will take a little more to get the desired results. As for swallowing cayenne, it is good stuff for your system and has vitamin "C" to boot.

Sluggish Digestion

Cayenne Pepper helps my sluggish digestion. I have episodes that last for weeks sometimes where it seems as if my digestive system just stops. It causes tremendous stomach discomfort in the middle of the night, no matter how many hours it has been since I last ate (the problem is exacerbated by laying down). So, needless to say, I have many sleepless nights being awakened by a burning, bloated stomach. Lately I have been taking 1 capsule of 100,000 Heat Units Cayenne pepper after my last meal. From things that I have read, I decided to open the capsule and put half in a small glass of warm water with honey, then swallow the half-filled capsule. It has done wonders for my stomach discomfort and has allowed me to have very restful sleep. I believe it is helping the digestion process. I really don't know what my digestive problem is, but the cayenne pepper makes my stomach feel great and actually normal for a change.

ADVICE WHEN DRINKING CAYENNE PEPPER POWDER IN WATER: do not inhale as your bring the glass to your mouth unless you want to really clean out your sinuses! Cheers to all who are taking charge of their own, and their loved ones, health.

Cayenne Pepper Side Effects

Thanks folks, I have backed off to 1/4 teaspoon of Cayenne in Hot Water with Manuka Honey to sweeten it. My BP is now 122/75 in the morning, my pulse about 60. I do not have the large spike in BP after taking the Cayenne and I am losing weight, have more energy and I really think my eyes are better(my computer screen seems sharper). I think you really need to start off small and build up, I would guess my 1/4 tsp is about right.

What you said about taking cayenne on an empty stomach is so true. I normally take it first thing after brushing my teeth, hey man you'll find me pounding up and down in trying to cool and settling my stomach from burning and sometimes I would even feel like vomiting for some minutes before I feel back to my senses. It is really a bad idea to take on an empty stomach. I regret every time after taking it. Thank you so much for your advise of eating before drinking the powder. God Bless.

Hi I am a nobody college student. I have had a sore throat for two days and it has been hurting like none other. Web Md suggests warm salt water and that will last you some 5 minuets. Google pointed me here. CAYENNE pepper mixed with warm water and gargled appears to be the top pick and it is for a reason. 2 minuets after the taste of pepper left my mouth I was so much better. Try it, it works so well.

I had pain for years in my bones a month ago before I started to take cayenne pepper capsules and I now am pain free. I continue to take 1 capsule per day. It's nice to be pain free.

I started off with 2 daily then I increased the dose 1 per day until I reached 5 i stayed at 5 a day for a week. Then I decreased then to 1. This works well on the heart, diabetes, and diverticolosis which I have. A big improvement.

Oh, 400 gram capsules they were.

I was feeling down and a little depressed. I was eating lunch, and put a little too much cayenne pepper on my lasagne (more than usual). After about 5 minutes, I was feeling so much better ! My depression just seem to "go away" and I had a jolt of sustained energy. By the way, I was drinking orange juice at the time. It is said that the folic acid in orange juice will enhance any mood enhancing (anti-depressant) substance. I definitely will be eating more cayenne pepper.

Heart Issues

WARNING!

CAYENNE PEPPER WARNING- My 80 year old father in law recently had neck surgery to replace 2 discs that had trapped his nerves, he was becoming paralysed, he lost his bladder control and had to have a bag and catheter fitted, on removal the doc notice that his prostrate was hard and enlarged, We recommended that he start on cayenne pepper slowly and build up over a few weeks, the hope is that pepper should improve his blood circulation which will help his nerves heal quicker as well as de-clog his prostrate that was probably blocked from the catheter and poor flow, well he loves curry and all things hot so took quite a lot from the start, after 10 days or so my wife received a phone call from her mother saying her father had had a stroke! He was ok but it had set his recovery back (from nerve damage) a few weeks, when I quizzed him about the pepper he confessed to liking it and taking a lot more than suggested, (more than ½ tsp. 2 x daily) he just can't taste it like most do! It was a pretty hot one too, not a cheap store bought.

Any how, he has had 2 heart attacks and a quadruple bypass many , many years ago ( even though he is has never smoked and was a keen athlete! ) I suspect he is a little clogged up and the pepper acted to unblock him just a little too quickly removing all sorts of nasty stuff from his arteries and possible causing the stroke? he has resumed the pepper but at a pinch daily with the aim of increasing slowly over the weeks, fingers crossed this time, ironically cayenne is touted to stop strokes!

The lesson here is if you are just starting on cayenne pepper don't take the whole jar in one go! Build up slowly- its powerful stuff!

I had just read about cayenne stopping bleeding. I had worked to remove a bad tooth from my mouth and did not expect what happened: blood gushing out so fast I was choking on it. I had no idea it would bleed like that. I panicked and dumped probably a half teaspoon of cayenne on the wound and the bleeding stopped almost instantly. I was amazed, but it worked. Like turning off a faucet. The bleeding stayed stopped too.

While mountain biking, I encountered hidden a rusty wire fence in which I ended and nearly got shreaded. After noticing a massive amount of blood on the seat of my bike, I discovered a severe laceration on my right elbow. I wrapped it up with handkerchief and the ride was over. Still bleeding, deciding whether to go to the clinic I recalled an Earth Clinic article about cayenne pepper so I poured some on the cut, it pretty much stopped the bleeding. I latter cleaned the cut and put a second application and bandaged it. The next day I was amazed that it was healed.
