i discovered coconut oil about 4 yrs ago and was using it for seborhea, and for dry patches of skin. I rubbed it into my cuticles each night, and on day 6, i realized the wart that had been on my finger for a few years was totally GONE! It had to be the oil, because i was not using a wart remover. Also, i have found that coconut oil helps heal my seborhea patches quickly, whereas medicines did not.

If you want to use coconut oil, cook with it! Butter your bread with it, use it in or on muffins instead of butter. My favorite is to use it for cooking pancakes, fried sweet potato french fries. Anything you fry because it is the only safe oil at high temperatures. Get creative with it. enjoy the lovely flavor. Put it in shakes!

According to D'Adamo and the "Eat Right 4 Your Type" diet, just about no one should eat coconut oil. I'm a fan of that diet, but I also know that one size does not fit all. Some of the things ER4YT says I can tolerate, in truth, I cannot (wine, sulfa drugs, etc). As a Type A, non-secretor, it says that I can tolerate coconut milk. But not coconut oil? It doesn't make all that much sense to me. I started taking it for thyroid help, but I love what it has been doing for my skin. I haven't had any side effects so far. I don't understand how anyone can lose weight taking this tho. At 120 calories in 1 tbls, if you take it 4 times a day, you are adding 480 calories.

I use cocunut oil for many ailments, however I just tried it this week as a mask for my very dry hair, I dyed, bleach, and ironed my hair for years, so its incredibly coarse and frizzy all the time, I've tried EVERYTHING available in stores and salons, with little to no results. So I scooped out a few handfuls of coconut oil (enough to cover all my hair) and I work it in really well (as if your coating all your hair with gel) then I put a shower cap on, and in about 20 minutes I showered as normal, and my hair in SO FREAKING SMOOTH, and shiny and soft, I still iron my hair, but this is the first time I never had to use some kind of smoothing gel, its amazing, I'm going to do it all the time now!!!

Coconut oil should NEVER be 'refined or deodorised'. Buy only "organic, virgin, unrefined coconut oil". If it doesn't have a gentle smell like coconut, then throw it away. It simply will not have the healing properties you are after.
Coconut Oil Caveats

I bought 3 containters of the Louana Coconut Oil and what a disappointment! I bought it at Publix and was so excited that it was on 6 dollars for each. I will promptly take it back tomorrow. I know Publix will take it back because that is the way they work. They had a different brand that was much smaller and I will look at it to see if it is organic and unrefined. I was so disappointed that this coconut oil did not even smell like coconuts and it is yellow, not white!!

i started using virgin coconut oil about a year ago. i got it to use on my hair but couldn't resist eating it!!! soon i was using it all over my body. the first thing i noticed is that for the first time EVER i was no longer constipated!!! then my skin started becoming silkier. also i have always been cold and this was the first winter that i was not cold all the time. i like to massage my entire body with the VCO and then get into a very warm bath and soak. i do not use soap but scrub with a loofah. when i get out my skin is silky and very soft. using it this way has totally removed the little hard bumps that used to be all over the back of my arms and on my thighs. at first my boyfriend was skeptical. he was a chef and only knew about hydrogenated coconut oil and that it was dangerous. now he is doing oil pulling with the VCO as am i and both of us have stronger whiter teeth!!! also he has seen me give it to my pet rats and seen the good results: softer and shinier fur and less allergies!!!
we all love virgin coconut oil!!!

I have been taking coconut oil capsules (2000 mg twice daily) for 3 weeks today. It has completely cured the psoriasis I have had on my elbows for over 25 years now. I'll have to get back with you to let you know what else it has helped me with. But, so far, I LOVE IT!

My favorite ways to use coconut oil - as a butter substitute in hot cereals (oatmeal, ect), on toast, or waffles, or vegatables, I also use it in the pan for cooking my egg whites. when I try to put it in my shakes it gets hard and flakey- which I do not like. I also use it on my skin. I get about 1 tbs per day. Also just started trying Blackstrap molasses today. will report benefits in a few weeks- I hope.

I have been using coconut oil on my face and legs for about a month I also take a tablespoon daily along with oil pulling with sesame oil. The results are fantastic. Where I live is very dry and my skin has taken a beating for years. Dry patches on my cheeks and nose, legs so dry that I was embarrassed to wear shorts. But with the coconut oil I have glowing healthy looking skin.
Quick tip: If you have a problem taken coconut oil internally because of the taste or texture. Here is a great recipe:
Mix two tablespoons of coconut oil, 1 Tbspn of Cocoa Powder and sweeten with honey. It has a frosting type consistancy and is delicious.

First: Thank you very much for Earthclinic.com I have been using it for everything from kidney stones to acne and fibromyalgia and autism! Eventually I find something that works, usually try a couple before I am sure what it was that did the job, but it gets done! You help so many people, God bless you!
I have just finished reading "the reader" section on Coconut Oil and so many people find it hard to swallow! I have to share my recipe for Whoopie Pie cream, I make them for my four kids and they love the cream.
It is so light and creamy twice now, I've made a batch and eaten it all before I get the cake part made! My son with autism gets his MCFAs and anti-fungal, great trick! Better than the commercial candy, all natural or organic! Really, a frosting that will help you lose weight? Just kidding!
CHOCOLATE COCONUT OIL FROSTING
WHOOPIE PIE CREAM!
1/2 cup Organic Coconut Oil
2 Tbls. butter (optional)
1 heaping Tbls. Unsweetened Cocoa powder
1/2 tsp. vanilla
pinch of Sea Salt (optional)
1/4 cup of Organic Powdered Sugar
Whip the Coconut Oil and Butter, add the Vanilla, whip for a couple minutes (Whip it Good) Add pinch of Salt if desired and the Cocoa Powder, mix well and add the Sugar until mixture reaches desired sweetness.
If you add too much sugar, you can add more coconut oil and whip again! If you are only making the oil palettable, you can stop adding sugar when you can eat it.
This is the most amazing frosting on chocolate cake, or Whoopie Pie filling!
My kids love them. I asked my four-year-old, "Kenny, don't you want your Whoopie Pie?" he said, "That's O.K. Mommy, you can eat it, I will say 'Whoopie!'
I use Coconut oil to cook, and on my face everyday immediatly following the shower for rosacea and severe acne. It helps a lot!
I am starting internally today, after reading all the testimonies!

I tried Extra Virgin Organic Coconut Oil for the 1st time a few days ago and I was okay. It felt funny going down though and it made me feel kinda a weird. I've taken 2 teaspoons with concord grape juice. It was a great combination and the taste was out of this world (very delicious). I will gradually use this product for my thyroid condition, due to reading great articles and other responders of how great EVOCO is for health. With everything I suggest you start off with lose dose. I wouldn't go my the recommended dose on the package. 2-3 tablespoon seems to be too much, unless you are cooking with it. Taking that much orally is too much and you would get sick. I used it with juice and it felt a little weird, because it do not vaporate and I had to swallow a lump of EVOCO, but I didn't get sick. Thank God. I will skip a day and then use it again, but only 1 tsp. Be careful everyone, don't overdo it. :)

I decided to try Coconut Oil to see if it would help me lose some weight. It never, but I had another interesting side benefit. It has almost completely healed up my severe case of Psoriasis. It has at least taken it to the point that I can pay little to no attention to this ailment that has dogged me for almost 40 years now, since I was 7. I started off with two tablespoons of extra virgin coconut oil, one in morning one late afternoon. After the short break that proved it was the coconut oil having an affect on my skin, I started using coconut oil capsules 1000mg twice a day, but had to up the dose to 2 1000mg twice a day. I have not experienced any flare ups yet and it has been more than a few months almost completely (old scars starting to fade)clear now.

I cook with coconut oil. It's solid, like butter, and I use it as a spread. I don't like to use butter unless its raw and organic. I also use it on my body. I've never noticed any unpleasant side effects, and I eat a lot of it, five six tablespoons a day. It makes a great skin cream.
