AAAAAAMAZING!

My 2 year old caught a cold. Last night was rough, as he didn't sleep through the night - which means no one else did either. Today I found your Tomato Tea Recipe. I used Organic Jarred Tomatoe Puree (I read a list of the 7 foods you should never eat - and one of them was canned tomatoes as the acid in the tomatoes leeches the BPA out of the can's lining), 4 cloves of Smashed Organic Garlic, the juice of one organic lemon, and about 1/4 tspn of Organic Cayenne (IDK if it was African or not).

I gave him maybe 3 spoons of it and he immediately started hacking up phlegm. His nose started running like crazy, I'm assuming because his sinuses were draining. I had some too and right away felt my sinuses dry up and felt as though I could breathe more clearly.

The second time I gave it to him, he wasn't happy. He didn't want it - he was crying. But I made him have it, and he hacked up MORE phlegm. Poor baby... I know it's making him better though.

I also rubbed a combo of olive oil, peppermint essential oil and Eucalyptus essential oil on his feet and chest. I have a humidifier going in his room with Eucalyptus oil in the dispenser. I'm adding a little bit of Organic Raw Apple Cider Vinegar to his sippy cup of water with a bit of Organic Juice to mask the taste...

He's not eating much, but I'm loading him up on Organic Fruits and veggies. I'm making Chicken Soup from scratch using only Organic ingredients for dinner (what a mission).

He seems to be better today than he was last night, but the true measure will be how well he sleeps tonight.

Thank you all for your insight and input. I will report back tomorrow!

BETTER BUT WITH SIDE EFFECTS

My ailment: bad sinus cold that was turning into bronchitis with heavy chest congestion. I followed the Tomato Tea recipe exactly as stated with the following additions: I doubled the recipe, added an extra 2 cloves of garlic (I also smashed the garlic with a knife to release the allicin before adding to pot), added salt, and heated on the stove for about 20 mins on low. I drank more than 6 cups of the tea over a period of 2-3 days.

What I noticed:

After the 1st cup: I felt worse! Sinuses, which weren't plugged up before, got plugged up. My congestion seemed to increase slightly, etc.

The next morning: I felt slightly better and realized I slept all night which I hadn't before.

After the next few cups: Sinus drainage, then sinuses plugged, on and off. With each cup, I now noticed the chest congestion easing.

Results: Symptoms subsided within 4 days.

My wife who is 21 has been fighting a bacterial infection for around a week, she's had terrible sinus congestion, and pain in her ears. She's been on Antibotics for a week now, just started her 2nd perscription of a different antibotic as the first was not working. Now being at a week of this she asked me to see if there are any home remedies for head congestion, i typed it in and found the Tomato Tea Recipe and decided to try it as it had 122 "yeas". Well now it has one more my wife wasnt even done with the first batch of the tomato tea and her headache went away and her ear pain is gone. With this kind of result in such a short time, i am simply amazed. I used 2 cups of V8, 2 cloves crushed garlic, 2 T lemon juice and some hot sauce. Microved for a few minutes and it was ready to go. Thank you for the recipe!

Oh my, how wonderful! I have been having terrible allergy symptoms for a while and nothing was helping. This evening I decided to 'google' home remedies for chronic sinus congestion. I decided that the Tomato Tea sounded good as it should taste great and it got lots of "yeas". I didn't have any tomato juice on hand and it was 10pm so I didn't really want to go to the store, so I substituted vegetable juice. I could not believe it. I went from completely congested (almost to my throat) to breathing through both nostrils in two sips, count 'em, TWO sips! FANTASTIC! And it really does taste great too, so finishing it was not a problem :O)

Just wanted to update my original response to the tomato tea remedy. Although I didn't get the immediate results that others had with this remedy, I will say that I was only "sick" for less than a week (about four days), which is much shorter than the normal 7-10 days. I'm not sure what to attribute this to, though, because I used a lot of different things to try to kick this cold. I drank the tomato tea for the first two days. I also applied eucalyptus/peppermint/olive oils mixed to the bottoms of my feet at night (covered with white cotton socks). I also took Juice Plus every hour (if EC won't print the brand name, it's just vitamins made from fruits and vegetables). I drank water like a fish, and I gargled hydrogen peroxide. I probably did other stuff, too that just seems normal for me, like drinking ACV, etc. So, maybe it was the combination of it all, or maybe it was the tea, but either way, I'll probably drink the tea next time I feel a cold coming on. I do believe garlic has antiviral properties, and helps out a lot. So the tea wasn't a total "nay." It just didn't give me the amazing immediate relief that I was so desperately looking forward to. Thanks for the recipe! I've added it to my remedy collection :)

EC: Rating has been revised, thanks for the update!

One morning I awoke with the symptoms of an allergy attack: runny nose, teary eyes, cough, fatigue, etc. I made the tomato tea remedy using one can of ____ [tomato] juice, 3 tsps chopped garlic, 2 Tbls lemon juice and 1 Tlbs honey and then I microwaved it for one minute. After 2-3 sips, I felt MUCH better. I'm amazed at how quickly it worked. Thank you so much for this site.

Tomato Tea Feedback - Been suffering from a second cold within a month. Last cold lasted forever spent the time just trying to feel better with OTC meds. Made it easier to get through the day but didn't really help. So about a week after getting over that cold I have another and am already feeling a lot better thanks to this website. Just found the tomato tea and I scrounged around my kitchen to come up with the best substitutes I could: tomato and basil soup, minced garlic (just threw a bunch in-love garlic!), squeezed fresh lime juice, and as much red curry powder as I can stand. Right away blew my nose and a bunch of junk came out and I CAN breathe finally!! The congestion is also deeper in my chest and my coughs are more productive. I'm sure it will take a while to get it all out of my system..but within a very short time with only the tomato soup I'm feeling so much better than with the decongestants. Thank you sooooo much!!! I am trying other remedies as well.. Love the site!

I just found the site a few days ago and tried the tomato tea with great success for my sinuses and is helping my dad sleep better!! We both have trouble stopping up at night with congestion. Also my sense of smell is coming back!! Would adding ACV be ok to add to the tea and keep the same benifits or should they be used separately?

Tomato Tea Cured My Sinus Congestion... I'd been suffering from the worse case of the flu I've had in years. I was going on my fifth day of suffering, and I could already tell my sinuses were starting to block up and were getting infected. As I couldn't miss any more work, I decided to look up a sinus remedy on this wonderful site and found Tomato Tea. I'd already been eating whole cloves of garlic and lots of tea with lemon and honey to get me through the sickness, but I knew it was gonna take something more to knock out this infection (not to mention the sinus pressure was becoming so debilitating, I needed something that would work fast!!). I sent my husband to pick up the ingredients from the store and set straight to work on this little concoction as soon as I arrived home from work (and what a miserable day it was). I used the following ingredients and measurements:

2 cups Tomato Juice
1/2 squeezed lemon
3-4 shredded cloves of garlic (I used a cheese shredder, which worked great)
As much Louisiana Hot Sauce as I could handle (about 5-6 shakes straight from the bottle)
A few shakes of Cayenne Pepper for good measure
A dash of Celery Salt

After two large cups of the tea over a 3 hour period, I was already feeling the sinus pressure ease. My stomach was feeling a little uneasy (not really upset) when I went to bed at around 10:00 pm, but I figured it was from eating dinner and having so much tea in a short period of time.

I woke up at 2:30 am and realized I was breathing through both nostrils and my throat wasn't nearly as sore or dry as it had been in my last 5 nights of restless sleep. Feeling actually good and rested, I'm now up drinking another cup of this wonderful tea and writing to earthclinic about it! It hasn't even been 24 hours, but I'm already feeling so much better! Thank you so much for this wonderful cure!

WORKED TEMPORARILY

Tomato Tea for congestion. After reading about Tomato Tea on this website, I decided to try it to relieve my stuffy head. I used organic tomato juice, fresh lemon juice and as much hot sauce as I could tolerate. It did the job. It provided temporary relief from head congestion and made me feel better.

Tomato Tea is Fantastic!!!

I was desparate with a cold to find a cure. I decided to try the Tomato Tea (although I prefer to call it Tomato Soup). I took one cup in the morning and one cup at night and within three days the cold was gone. I went to visit my daughter in Okeechobee. She works in the radiology department of a local hospital. She had a terrible cold and was treating it with otc drugs, to no avail. I made up a 'tea' for her in the evening when she got home. We couldn't find the hot sauce so we used cayenne pepper (as much as she could stand). She took the tea before bed for two nights - and was cold-free by the time she awoke on the third day. This is fantastic! Thank you so much! By the way, my daughter told everyone at the hospital about this remedy.
