I scraped my foot very badly, kind of a road rash burn, a week and a half later it was infected and not healing, applied tumeric powder on the open wound, plastic wrap over tumeric and a bandage, applied new poultice twice a day, is healing very quickly now, no infection. Can't recommend enough. It has been two days so far will continue to apply till wound is healed.

Anndee, put your turmeric in an empty capsule and swallow it that way with water. I add a drop of black pepper to the capsules as they say it absorbs better with the pepper, but just a few grains.

Hi Deirdre, Haven't been on EC much lately but have been finding things of interest to EC'ers. Here's one on Curcumin.

http://lpi.oregonstate.edu/infocenter/phytochemicals/curcumin/

The section on Alzheimer's could prove to be a Godsend, because it reads that it does both prevent and reverse the damage in the brain. Couple this with niacin and vitamin C therapy and it should be a winner and all relatively cheap. With the right information and access to the nutrients needed (which is why it is so important to fight the FDA placing the Codex Alimentarius on us) we can outsmart those who would reduce our numbers.

If anyone wants information on where to obtain the turmeric (I think my 3 or 4 lb bag was in the $5-6 range). For those of you who don't like drinking healthy but foul tasting stuff, you can obtain empty capsules and fill them yourself. The filling equipment is usually available from the same ones who have the empty caps for sale.

Welcome back ! What is your opinion that oil is needed in order for the tumeric to be absorbed in the body?

Turmeric During Pregnancy
Posted by Marie (Manistique, Michigan) on 10/06/2009

I just found out I'm pregnant and want to make sure that Turmeric will not adversely affect the baby or pregnancy in any way. Is there such a thing as taking too much? Or are there any known problems it could cause? My husband takes turmeric & ginger for arthritis pain and it has done WONDERS for him! We buy it from the spice section in bulk and pre-mix it 50/50. He takes a few spoonfuls a day with a glass of water. I have read so many great benefits of turmeric that I am hopeful it will work for allergies and sinus problems. My main concern is it being safe for the baby...

I did the turmeric with honey mask. When I washed it off with warm water, I immediately washed it off with a cleanser. If I were to leave the turmeric stain on, would it help my skin? Will I be able to wash the stain off the next morning? Won't the stain get on the pillow case?

suggestion for getting dry herbs, etc into you with ease....For anyone trying to take turmeric or other dried substances and find they taste bad or don't mix well into liquid, I have purchased gelatin capsules from my healthfood store and filled them with turmeric. A much simpler way to take it than trying to get it to dissolve in liquid.

Hi Margaret,
Turmeric powder is used in every indian recipe I know and I think thats the best way to take it, like you can add it to onions etc. while frying them. Also, people used to mix turmeric powder to warm milk along with almonds (It is really really tasty). So try either of these ways. I believe taking it in powder form will be more beneficial.

I know this is an old post but I'll ask anyway.

I took turmeric capsules for chronic back pain that nothing else would help. It worked, my back pain went away after years of suffering. Recently I started taking turmeric for another reason but instead of capsules I have been taking a liquid extract. I noticed that my urine color has an orange/peach color. Is this likely because I'm using the liquid form instead of capsules? Has anyone else noticed this?

I grind fresh home grown turmeric and eat about 20 grams a day. I also have malignant melanoma throughout my body. Turmeric is not stopping the spread of this disease. It may have some benefits but removal of my cancer is very questionable at least.

Hiay

I was trying natural Hymalain Turmeric for my folliculitis and general inflammation due to my CFS/FM. When I got 2/3 down the bottle and after about 4 weeks of soreness the entire length of my GI tract, bloating and stomach pains, I realised that it may be the cause. I gave it the benefit of the doubt before stopping because I am on lots of supplements and also get wierd symptoms as I am on new thyroid supplements.

However after about a week stopping the Turmeric and introducing honey to try and heal myself I feel a little better now. So watch out for intestinal upsets with this herb. Even though the science looks great and some people may tolerate it better.

In answer to Whitters fror Yorkshire, I was wondering if you took your Turmeric with either EV Coconut oil or olive oil, an avacado and ant other fat. It is 100% soluble and I started the use of Turmeric for stomach issues while titrating from the Benzodiazapine Klonopine and now to Valium. I would want to throw up and was sweating from the nausea. The Turmeric with a spoon of Coconut oil took the pain away and then I found it is marvelous for the brain and a miriad of ailments. Arabic Turmeric is too spicy for me and I think East Indian is much more mild. I cap my own. Try with oil and see if there is a positive change.

Menstrual Cramps

I have really bad problems with menstrual cramps during my period. One day my sister suggested trying a spice called Turmeric to help relieve them. Saying she had read this on the internet somewhere. So I tried it. She was right. Mixing a teaspoon of Tumeric into a quarter cup of hot water and drinking it, followed by a small glass of milk (to help take the bitterness out of your mouth), relieves cramps in about ten minutes. I swear by it today and use it everytime I need relief.

For Allison from Los Angeles, Ca.

If you cook your foods using turmeric, your children are going to get some of it, therefore giving it to them should not create a problem. Remember to reduce the amount given depending on their weight. The usual dosage on most supplements are figured for a l50 lb. male, so if your child weighs 75 lbs. you would give 1/2 of the adult dose. A 25 lb child would get 1/6th of the adult amount, etc.

Cystic Acne

I began getting increased trouble with acne rosacea flares (this is quite a different condition from acne vulgaris/teenagers acne). The flares were happening despite my already taking fish oil and an antibiotic ointment from the dermatologist did not help much. Then, I read in the news that acne rosacea is caused by a build up of inflammatory by products in the skin.

At once, I thought of using turmeric. I mixed turmeric spice with water and dabbed it on my flare spots. I had to scrub hard to remove it next day as it stains the skin, but 3 days later, my flare spots were gone. I take 1 teaspoon of turmeric in water each day, internally.

Then, I had to have a dental procedure where they had to do a lot of digging around in the gum to install a temporary crown. I was told my gums would feel sore and to take some ibuprofen. Instead, I swirled turmeric in my mouth after brushing my teeth, letting it reach all my gums, then swallowed it. I did this every night for the next 3 weeks. I had no gum pain at all and when I returned to have the crown installed, the dentist was amazed at how healthy my gums were. I told him I'd used turmeric.

Warning---turmeric stains white cloth and clothing, and it will probably stain artificial dental implants and dentures. But if you have all your teeth and want something extra for healthy gums, turmeric is amazing stuff. Warning..it may constipate in considerable dosages so if you have to use a lot of it, increase both fluid and fiber intake.

Turmeric is one of the miracle spices in the world. Turmeric also builds your immune system. Since my Childhood I have always had sinus problems - runny nose - stuffed up when weather changes - I would be miserable for months - missing school work when I came to USA.

Since last 4 yrs I have been taking less then teaspoon of turmeric + pinch of black pepper mixed in milk ( 8 oz ) - warm it in microwave for 1 min 30 sec - stir it an drink that before going to bed ( you can take this in morning / afternoon anytime you like )

I am a changed person no runnier nose no sneezing when weather changes (especially during spring/fall) have no problem with pollens. During cold months I have no runny nose. My kids used to get sick during school months now they also daily drink milk with turmeric they are also free from cold and fall less sick during school time. Here are few ways you can take turmeric to help yourself.

1. Take less then teaspoon of powdered turmeric + pinch of black pepper in 8oz of Cup pour milk place it in microwave warm it ? ( Warm enough so that you can drink it ) - I usually warm it 1:30 min remove stir it enjoy your drink an your health.

2. You can also take teaspoon of turmeric in small cup pour honey and warm it in microwave for 5 to 10 seconds mix it well using spoon eat it 1 teaspoon ? 3 times a day if you have cold / cough.

Have faith and continue drinking this it may take 3 6 months before you start seeing results in your health. Need more information mail me your question I will try to answer your question when time permits This site has great information it has helped me with ACV ? Oil Pulling I am looking into H202 now. Good Luck to one and all.

Multiple Sclerosis

If you are still suffering from MS, per medicalmedium.com, the cause is from one of the herpes viruses. Get to know what things will bring you back to life if you can stand the fresh celery juice 16 oz every day(there is something called mineral salts clusters that does a great job killing the bug inside of you) plus eating all the anti-viral foods that will help as well, the idea is to STARVE the virus out. I tried for a year to drink that but just could not handle the taste and you have to drink it for 3-4 years. He tells you what to eat and what not to eat to starve that bug out of you. Most of our diseases are caused by viruses, bacteria, and heavy metals. Google medical medium cure for ________MS in your case, and it will go right into what you need to do. I always thought I had Lymes disease but 4 Lymes disease tests over the years always came up negative but I have every symptom of Lymes and I just read you can still have it with a negative test!! I just ordered from EBay under Herb Doc enough bottles of TEASEL tincture to kill the virus I have (that person cured his Lymes with this exact tincture so I would start with his EBay website HERB DOC). Medical Medium says MS, LYMES, HERPES, a lot of cancers are all from the same family. The guy that created this Teasel (a plant) had similar symptoms and he cured himself. I do not know if the Teasel will work you but I would try it for a year (he says you have to take it for 7.5 months and you take one drop the first day, 2 the 2nd day, 3rd day 3 drops and I believe to 9 drops but I need to confirm you then stay at 9 drops for the remainder of months) and see if you see a change but also add the protocol of Anthony William of making fresh celery juice and drinking that on an empty stomach plus the eating requirements. I have the herpes and what I think is Lymes and going to try this and see what it does (just ordered last night Nov 19,22). For herpes 1 I just read about pills called Herpesyl (all plant ingredients) Sweden folks have figured out how to kill 90% of herpes in mice but they are out about 3 years before finalization on studies (fredhutch.org). Boils
Posted by Suemccartin (St. Petersburg, Fl, Usa) on 10/27/2010

My friend shrimps in the gulf around Florida, both himself and many others on the boat keep developing huge boils on several parts of their bodies (forearms and legs mostly). They are convinced it's from the "fish" they handle. I've seen info online (very little) about sea water boils aka saltwater boils. Supposedly caused by the enclosed arms of the rubber coats and the large amounts of fish goo on the rubbers that come in contact with the skin at some point. In the case of shrimpers I also saw something that says they are caused from handling the sludge from the bottom that comes up in the nets with the catch. (A shrimper manually digs through all the seaweed and thus also comes into contact with the sludge out of the nets. )

I'm glad I found this, going to try the turmeric for him... He's been getting antibiotics for them but I'm a huge believer in staying natural and avoiding western medicine if you can, especially in the case of antibiotics which tend to have diminishing effect as the problem critters get immune to it. He believes same, he's into a lot of Chinese medicine but didn't know of anything for boils right off. Just an FYI: a historical fact to file away. Turmeric was used as a yellow die in the middle ages in Europe and probably other parts of the world as well. The spice came over the trading routes (I don't think it was ever cultivated anywhere in Europe). Due to the imported nature of turmeric it was as expensive if not more expensive, than the tyrian shelfish dyes (red, yellow, purple depending upon mordanting and if it was an exhaust dye), from the vicinity of Greece. So that... Ladies & gents, is why your skin goes yellow when you use it. I've had bad skin most of my life and allergies, especially sinus infections around weather change (summer to winter). I was using nettle for the sinuses but since someone figured out it's great for urinary tract issues the price of the tincture has gone from 3 bucks a bottle to 16 bucks a bottle in the US. I'm going to try out the turmeric myself. I can get a pound of powder on ebay for about 6 bucks plus shipping (sounds like a bargain but I'll check the local health food store first). Great site, glad I found it.

I have suffered off and on for several years with cystic acne, mostly tried antibiotics, products with salycic acid, my son who now 15 also gets the same type of acne as my sister and even my mother did. she used to get cortisone shots injected in the 70's. I got on internet last night and saw massive responses to turmeric, and ran out to store and drank my first glass, which was disgusting. Hold your nose, chug it down, and chase with juice or pop. I put neosporin on the 3 on my face, and this morning swelling is down by 50%, and pain is gone. the disgusting taste is worth it trust me. I am amazed that something this inexpensive works so well, do doctors know? they must, but don't get money for advising patients to use something that only costs a couple dollars at a grocery store. My son is going to try today.

Ailment: Woke up one morning, my arm was almost limp, it hurt to pick it up, no strength, could not hardly pick up anything, felt like it was swollen inside. Went to doc, he put me on Vioxx, started taking them then heard of all the bad side affects, called a Naturopathic Doc. He told me about several ingredients, including Turmeric, so I went to the health food store and bought REMEDY: Turmeric Special Formula because it had several of the items he mentioned I needed in it. I then made a tea of it, and put local tupelo honey in it drank it every day and in several days my symptoms were totally gone and has never came back, The only thing about taking a capsule and making in into a tea is there are granules left, you can either drink them or strain them, I drank them for a while, then I started straining them (do not boil the turmeric in the water, or you will lose some of it medicinal effects) boil or heat the water first then put the turmeric special formula in it like you would if you were making a cup of tea, add honey to taste, then drink it while it is warm.
