I too had a problem with the uric acid. After several days of drinking a huge glass of "it, " I developed symptoms of gout, and my big toe and the ball joint beneath it were hurting. I immediately went to the gout section on this website and read that gout is caused by too much uremic acid. (Uremic means ""contaminating the blood with urine. ") Then I discovered that one of the remedies for gout was alfalfa, which I happened to have on hand. I took 5 capsules for 3 days, and the toe pain was gone completely. I continued to take alfalfa for 5 more days just to make sure my body was back in balance. I guess this therapy was not "my cup of pee. "

I don't see how drinking urine could be healthy as urine is a waste product. It just does not make sense to me to put back in your body what it has put out, even if you use it externally. Besides as soon as urine gets cold it is very prone to bacteria and other germs. It is only sterile when it's hot.

I tried urine therapy about 4 years ago after hearing about it from a friend of mine, a kundalini yoga instructor. I decided what the heck, sounds disgusting, but the health benefits sound great! So there I was, drinking my urine first thing in the morning. After 48 hours I got a rash on my stomach that lasted about 2 months. I did this for about 3 weeks. I then asked my doctor to give me a blood test to make sure everything looked okay. He called me immediately upon receiving the results to tell me my uric acid levels were very high and I could develop kidney stones. I was too embarrassed to tell him it was probably caused by drinking my own piss. NO WAY! At any rate, I stopped the therapy right away (I never experienced any health benefits from it) and my uric acid levels went back to normal. I still NEVER admit that I have tried this therapy!
