Also, Taurine regulates heartbeat and can smooth out tachycardia. It also helps alleviate other cardiac issues such as MVP and MI. It can also protect against cardiac side effects from drugs. This is a link to a non-selling page, with technical information on taurine's effects on cardiac functions and EKG results. Most doctors will scoff at it because they can't sell it to you.
High Blood Pressure

My blood pressure was high. 198 over something. I couldn't take any prescriptions for it other than a diuretic (prescription) because my muscles in my thighs kept hurting. That can be a dangerous side effect especially since your heart is a muscle.
1,000mg of Taurine and my blood pressure went down to 150 over something. Then 130 over something. With a prescription diuretic and 1000mgs of Taurine my blood pressure is in the teens.

There's some research that Taurine might be one of the most important amino acids to regulate the heartbeat. The research paper on the link below discusses how someone who had 20,000 irregular heartbeats per day eliminated them with Taurine (along with L-Arginine). The paper says that the people involved in this particular study had tried many other supplements prior to Taurine, but Taurine (with L-Arginine) was the answer for them
See George Eby Research site.
They were using very, very heavy doses (10 - 20 grams per day). For a starter dose, one could take 3 grams per day of Taurine in 3 divided doses of 1 gram (the paper says to take with meals, but I have heard that it's better on an empty stomach so that it doesn't compete with other amino acids for absorption). According to what I have read, there are no side effects for dosages up to 3 grams. Beyond that, you might want to do some searching on the internet to check on this. Overall though, it seems that Taurine is pretty safe, but it's probably best to start with small doses and build up.
From the link, it seems that L-Arginine does have side effects (sometimes severe), so proceed with caution with L-Arginine, or just supplement with Taurine and see what happens.

MY GOD!! 3 grams taurine + 1 gram arginine had nearly immediate sedation of of PVC (10-20,000/day) to zero now for 24 hours without further dosing. Can't believe it. Have tried Mg, hawthorne, ACV, ashwaganda (helped a little), exercise (helps for about one hour). But this is profound. Thank to this forum.

Taurine Side Effects

To anyone experiencing side effects from Taurine...it could be a negative reaction if you haven't had enough protein.
In order for sulfur (Taurine is a sulfur amino acid) to work you need to make sure you're ingesting enough protein. When I was under a physician's care and receiving DMPS Chelation which is a sulfur form of chelation, the instructions were to have a high protein meal of 25 mg or more before DMPS chelation, because sulfur's action is dependent on protein.
Also, mucous can be a sign of a fat allergy. Sulfur is the antidote to a fat allergy per Donald Lepore N.D. Author of, "The Ultimate Healing System".
He says, the M.R.T. Muscle Response Technique acupuncture point for Sulfur is on both sides of the throat of the Adam's apple and that, "The tonsils are the sulfur sacks of the body through which blood is purified. When you wake up in the morning with a throat full of phlegm, this is a tell-tale sign that your sulfur is low and that you should not be eating any fats as an allergic reaction could set in." Fats include fatty parts of meat, cream, butter, chocolate and ALL oils. He also says too much Copper and B5 Pantothenic Acid will burn up sulfur. Note: Chocolate is extremely high in Copper as well as in birth control.
Look at reviews for TUDCA. Ox Bile is high in Taurine. Both Taurine and Ox bile can help with intestinal malfunction and malnutrition per many peoples testimonies on various online forums.

Tinnitus

I developed tinnitus over a few months, and nothing seemed to help it. I I took a little powdered taurine I had sitting around, along with my morning pick-me-up supplements. I seemed to noticed a near-instant relief of the ear's ringing volume I've had all summer. I then looked it up and saw, indeed, there is research backing Taurine for tinnitus. It may be coincidental that the ringing started for me after I cut back a good bit this Summer on (taurine-containing) energy drinks.

Greeting Kim Lowe of Kansas City,
"What a blessing your post was to me." For a while now, I have had to eat less and less of meat and cheese. As far as that goes, in these senior years I have had to cut down all food areas for different reasons. I had begun to wonder if there was anything I could eat without health consequences.
To get to the point, you mentioned TUDCA in your post and I decided to try it. Oh, I have tried Ox Bile, and was still talking Taurine with little results.
However, when I take 500mgs of TUDCA daily before or even after a meal my blood pressure does not rise after eating; therefore, I was able to slowly restore my normal amount of cheese and meat back into my diet. If I forget to take the TUDCA with breakfast, I take two at dinnertime.
I am so happy that you posted about TUDCA.

As soon as I started taking Taurine, I had negative effects. It makes my sinuses produce real thick mucus and my ears are getting plugged up with mucus.

Eye Floaters

Hi Stephanie from Framingham - Your post regarding taurine and eye health intrigued me so I did a bit of research into what else taurine can do. The list is quite impressive! From what I read it helps with eye health, tinnitus, liver health, seizures, diabetes, heart health, etc. My brother (severely overweight) has just been diagnosed with diabetes - he is already experiencing neuropathy. However, he refuses to change his diet/lifestyle. He will take medication but will not do anything else (including reading about his disease). I'm going to see if he will at least try taurine. Thank you, Stephanie, for opening my eyes (and eye health) to taurine! Cheers, Bess

I tried Taurine - one 500 mg capsule and it really threw me for a loop - so dizzy and I felt most unsteady on my feet and hard to think and process things. I will not be taking any more - too bad, such good reviews. It is not for me.

maybe just a cleansing effect for a short period? 500mg is quite a lot to begin with.
