I have suffered from psoriasis for about 25 years and was told by a Dr. that it would never be gone only improved. The only thing I could use to help clear up my sore split elbows was a creme I was prescribed. It never completely worked.Winter time was always terrible for me. About a month ago I read up on the "Master Cleanse" for weight loss and began doing this. I decided to add to the recipe for other health benefits. I made a lemonad with half a lemon,2 tbs. maple syrup, 1/10th tsp cayenne pepper. Now what I added was 1tbs.ACV, 1tbs honey, pinch of Borax, dash of ginger, dash of cinnamon. Not only did I lose weight by drinking this yummy drink but a "side effect" (as I noticed by accident) is that my psoriasis is totally gone. Not cleared up I mean gone, like I never had it before. Skin is no longer thick and bumpy. I just can't believe it.Thanks you guys for such a wonderful website, this has changed my life. I have benefitted from so much information I have learned on here. You are doing so much good, you are a blessing.

Emily, Just wanted to know if your remedy is still working for you? Did you get rid of your psoriasis comlpletely cuz if you did, it sure is a miracle. Also, please tell me how often do you drink this lemonade ? My sister has psoriasis and it started last year.... out of nowhere. Her confidence shattered and she's not the person she used to be anymore. I really hope this works for her. Thanks for sharing.

Try a shampoo called kitikiti(pronounced "kitty kitty").
Use that shampoo twice a week along with the conditioner, if you want. But I just used the shampoo twice a week and in about a month my scalp had cleared up. I would suggest for african americans though that there is also a type of grease that this same company also makes that you can use after you wash your hair with the shampoo and dry it. It works very well. Anyone can also use this same grease on your skin.

In addition to your use of apple cider vinegar I strongly suggest epsom salt baths as hot as you can stand preferably twice a day until the rash disappears. Here in Australia we can buy this stuff in bulk from farm cooperatives for around $2 kilo... Best investment I ever made.

ACV & Psoriasis
I was just curious if your psoriasis became much worse the first week of using ACV? Mine is soooooo red and flaky after a week of use and I am just wondering if this is normal or maybe this remedy is just not for me.
Thanks!

I have had a similar experience. My face psoriasis or sebhoraic dermatitis, whatever it is, started to get better when I first started applying Apple Cider Vinegar and I got all excited but then I started to notice that it was spreading to other areas on my face. After a bit over a week I stopped using it as I thought I would be covered in it if I didn't. Now that I've stopped it's even worse than before. Im near breaking point, I don't know what to try, it seems ive tried everything. My dermatologist is trying to shove me on elidel but I dont believe that will help long term as everything else he's given me made my psoriasis worse. Also ive heard bad things about elidel. If someone has any ideas, please help me. I would give anything to have my life back.
Hello Brendan, have you tried glutamine?

I came across this site and decided to try ACV and it has worked to keep my scalp and face clear.
What I do:
If I'm having a flare up and I'm all flaky, red and uncomfortable:
1) Cleanse my face. 2) Pour some ACV on a cotton ball. 3) Stand in front of a fan and swipe the affected areas with the ACV reapeatedly (the fan is because the ACV stings a lot when the skin is raw from the condition). 4) Apply thick moisterizer or vaseline (vaseline works best for me) over the affected areas. I repeat this for 4-6 nights in a row and apply moisturizer during the day. You can tell it's working as your skin clears up the ACV no longer stings.
To maintain the flare-ups from starting again, I follow the above steps at least once to twice a week even if the skin is clear but use regular moisturizer instead of vaseline. The ACV does not sting at all at that point.
If I forget to use the follow-up ACV, my skin will start to feel tight and dry. At that point I follow all the steps and am fine just doing it for 2 days.
Added Skin Benefits:
Clean pores, rosey complextion, evened skin tone and no scars from the Psoriasis anymore after flare ups.
I've also used internally for allergies recently, which I will post about in that section.
To Sela from Huntsville: Hi Sela, If you are sure your problem is psoriasis, you might try Adele Davis's (a nutritionist) theory that psoriasis is caused by faulty fat metabolism. Her recommendation was 6 tablespoons of lecithin granules per day. My suggestion would be to stir 3 tbsps. in small glass of buttermilk twice a day and drink it. Tastes a lot like cornbread in buttermilk, which I happen to like. I have checked her out on several things and found that she was right, but have never had psoriasis, so can't vouch for this, but I'd certainly give it a try before trying a lot of other things. I recall one of my patients who used Siroil ointment on his. He was terminal renal disease because the mercury in the Siroil had destroyed his kidneys.

Was glad to read your suggestion about ACV - I will give that a try! But would like to point out that you should never use petroleum jelly; your skin won't breathe. I have had psoriasis since age 13; I'm 49, now. Have tried many meds offered by doctors but the body tends to build a resistance after it becomes accustomed to its effect. Moisturizers are very helpful but try to stay away from scented products lotions, hair products and laundry detergents. An inexps. brand (St.I.) has a fragrance-free body lotion which I have used for years. Instead of using petroleum jelly, try a fragrance-free (Eu) brand moisturizing oitment. Its best to apply moisturizers immediately after a bath or shower as your pores are open and better absorb the moisture. Drink LOTS of water and take lots of antioxidants (vitmin C, etc.). To your health!

Summary: diabetes, alcoholism, bulemia, topped with a 10yr abusive relationship ending in a soul crushing divorce, and job struggles equals a nasty outbreak of psoraiasis. Shocked it didn't happen 10 yrs ago from all the stress.
It all started about a month ago around all *sensitive* areas, I had been crying so much it started occurring around my eyes and got so painful that there was more crying and depression while basically crying blood. Now it's under my arms, on my wrists, the palms of my hands, between my breasts, on my chin, behind my ears, shoulder, and neck. It was so dry and cracking so often.
Tried topically applying ACV diluted with a little water - it does help with the itching however not long lasting and burns like a SOB on cracked skin (of course) and when every crease by your eyelid and corners is an open wound - owww!
Coconut oil also provided temporary relief but again after 30min - 1hr I was peeling more scales off.
The unrelentlessness reached an unbearable pinnacle after spending over 8hrs tweezing off scales yesterday that reappeared within moments.
I gave up and tried the 1Tbsp ACV with 1/2tsp baking soda and a small amount of warm water and took it as a few small shots chased by gatorade.
No doubt it is completely vile and no fun, I took it in the afternoon and planned to take it again before bed but fell asleep. I was shocked upon waking up my eyes weren't glued shut from painful scales and scabs! There was a HUGE reduction in the amount of scales which I removed most of so I took another dose. Right now I can stand and sit without the crease between butt and legs tearing painfully, touch my ear without it splitting, and squinch my eyes shut without grimacing in pain for the first time in weeks.
I'm going to keep it up and see how it goes but I'm already excited after suffering from low self esteem and adding these painful, unsightly scale covered eyes and chin that can't be hidden it would be great to keep this relief and catch my breath to heal.
Also I'm a picky eater and have a terrible diet so I've added more fruits and veggies opting for grilled vs fried things. This didn't seem to have a big impact but still gonna keep trying to opt for healthier choices and cut out junk food. As for alcoholism I weaned off liquor without experiencing typical withdrawals by drinking wine and now have days that I don't drink, so cheers to self improvement.
Will update if it becomes ineffective, good luck everyone!

A couple of years ago I developed an itchy rash on my scalp behind my ears shortly after having my hair colored. It progressively got worse with severe swelling of my ear and high fever. Ended up in urgent care with cellulitis. Antibiotics cleared it up but it kept coming back. After my 3rd round of antibiotics I was diagnosed with psoriasis.
I was told by the doctor to use a medicated shampoo and a product called Scalpicin which helped to keep the itching down and kept it from getting infected but it never went away. I decided to start on the apple cider vinegar regimen.
I would take an empty water bottle and pour about a tablespoon of apple cider vinegar in and then add 1/2 tsp baking soda. After it stopped fizzing I added water and drank it. I did this everyday and within a few months I noticed my rash was going away. It was completely gone on one side of my scalp with just a small area left on the other side.
I decided to stop taking the apple cider vinegar just to see if it had anything to do with it. For 2 weeks I did not take the apple cider vinegar and the rash came back on one side with a vengeance. It got infected and I took silver biotics to clear up the infection and started back on the apple cider vinegar drink.
After a couple of weeks the rash went away again. I am now a firm believer in this drink and I am back on my regimen of taking it everyday during the week and take off one or two days on the weekend.

Thanks for the information! Through this remedy,Yahweh seems to be healing my Psoriasis plaques (all!) HalleluYah! I started taking this 3X's a day about a week ago:
2 Tbsp. apple Cider Vinegar mixed with 1 tsp. Baking Soda. (I am 160 lbs. You may want to use less or more baking soda.)
Mix this with warm pure water 1/2 to 3/4 cup.
I take first on rising, during the day, and before sleep at night. The large plaques on my leg are only faint pink patches now, as are the ones under my arms and other places. Before I started drinking this drink, my leg plaques were shedding skin at least twice a day and I seemed to be itching all over. I do follow a healthy diet, taking a number of supplements including lecithin capsules. I was waiting for my Psoriasis to disappear completely before reporting my case. However, maybe my words will help you now if you are are being plagued by Psoriasis as I was. May you also be blessed by this remedy is my prayer!

I've been suffering from psoriasis on the top portion of my feet for 15 years. Thank God I stumbled upon this site. It started as a small itch. The ones on my knees and elbows cleared off and never came back but the ones on my feet became a bit widespread and never went away despite all kinds of topical cream, all steroids which cause the skin to become so thin. It's getting worse now - always inflamed, itchy and painful. It bleeds when scratched. The scabs can be very thin or thick.
I'm running to the supermarket in the morning to get a bottle of avc and a small tin of baking soda which is dirt cheap.
Thank you to everyone here for sharing. May God bless you all. Greetings from south-east asia.

There are huge differences between psoriasis and eczema. If you are not sure what you have, you should be correctly diagnosed. They are not at all the same thing.

I have suffered from psoriasis for years but have been able to control it with different types of creams, lotions, antibiotics etc from doctors and skin specialists but lost faith a few years ago & thought their must be an alternative out there and decided to research on the internet. I found aloe vera gel to be wonderful for 4-5 years but psoriasis always needs a change in treatment methods after a while so after having a terrible outbreak on my face (which I have always dreaded) I decided to try a Paw Paw cream (which featured on tv about a month or so ago), its described as liquid gold. I was still wearing makeup during the week so I didnt see a speedy improvement until I stopped wearing makeup and read about apple cider vinegar which I use for my scalp but never thought to mix with baking soda & take internally. After my husband returned from being away all week he thought I was wearing makeup. My face looks fabulous after only 4 drink doses of ACV, using the pawpaw ointment twice daily, and moisturing with a sorbolene cream during the day to keep my face moisturised. Thanks to reading this site I will be able to wear makeup again next week.

I treated with the ketoconazole cream the derm had given me, and it wasn't getting better, so I switched to 50/50 raw apple cider vinegar/water in a spray bottle, followed by extra virgin coconut oil, topically.
Within about two weeks, the stubborn rash is about 90% better on my legs, and under arm, but not much improvement on groin, and the eczema on my hands is worse (possibly stress related last two weeks, as that had almost cleared up prior). I went to derm today to get checked again and derm says that I don't have candida anymore, that I have psoriasis, on elbows, groin/penis, under arm, and prescribed elidel. I'll pick a spot and see if that helps, to confirm diagnosis, but will continue with apple cider vinegar to see if that indeed is a natural cure. I dropped the coconut oil several days ago to focus on the Apple Cider Vinegar and see if that is, alone, what was working. I am not cured yet, so this post is a little premature, but I have seen such positive results from the Apple Cider Vinegar (2-3 times a day), part of the time with coconut oil, that it may be worth a try.

Sounds like the same thing my mother-in-law has especially on elbows and groin area and the only thing that helps is getting rid of all grains from her diet. That includes wheat (white or whole), corn, oats especially. She did this and even her IBS abated. She went back to eating grains and sure enough the problems came back -- full force!

I have seen the most relief from the use of ACV and green juices as well as from raw broccoli (which is very high in vitamin E, thus nourishing the skin). As for topically, ACV may burn for a bit, but I refuse to wash it off and it does make things better, however, is not a magic potion (bummer).

I went to the store and bought some organic, unfiltered, with mother, Apple Cider Vinegar. I began by putting a little in the cap and then using my fingers to apply it topically to the affected areas. I also began consuming 1 tablespoon each morning diluted in a small glass of water (it tastes very bad so I brush my teeth immedately afterward). Within 3 days I was noticing an improvement. Within two weeks it was all gone. It's been over a month now and I still do the same routine. I think I wll for the rest of my life. It supposedly has many other health benefits. I cannot yet attest to them but for psoriasis, it changed my life.

3 Year Update:
I stopped regular use of the ACV after the psoriasis cleared up; however, I still use it occasionally since it helps with so many conditions. After the psoriasis cleared I continued using enzymes (both digestive and systemic) because they free up so much of my body's energy that would ordinarily be used for digestion.... Energy that can now be used for keeping other things working well. It's now been about 5 yrs. Since I've had a problem with either psoriasis or eczema, both of which plagued me for nearly 20 yrs. prior to the ACV & enzyme fix.
