Bleach Baths, ACV
★★★★☆
ACV helps by breaking down the plaques and when used with a steroid cream allows the medicine to absorb better to heal and prevent more effectively, astringent (Salicylic Acid) works the same way.
I used astringent and betamethasone for many years to manage this. BUT for about a year now I have been doing the bleach baths off and on and my psoriasis is completely gone from my toes, ankles, knees and wrists, and my elbows and hands are much better and more manageable. I hope to be psoriasis free some day by using this method.
Here is what works for me. I try to do a bleach bath a couple of times a week when I can, for 15 minutes at a time, with 1/2 cup of bleach in the bath. While your in the bath if you lightly rub the affected areas you can feel the plaques and extra skin come off easily.
When I get out of the tub the areas are nice and smooth and I then use a cotton ball and wipe the areas with either ACV or astringent, let dry and then immediately cover the areas with betamethasone. So far this has worked wonders for me, 75% of my psoriasis has disappeared and I am working on the other 25%. I realize this isn't a natural remedy but just thought I would share.
Borax
★★★★★
After reading some comments in here I shampooed my hair a solution of borax and water and drank a mixture of borax, ACV and baking soda. I am totally cleared of flaking but my arthritis is still active. I have been clear for over ten years now. Occasions of itch at the flaking spot I will resume with one or two shampooing sessions. I am back to this page after so long for some other issue and wanted to contribute and thank this site for curing my flaking psoriasis.
Thana,
I have severe psoriatic arthritis (PA) and taking borax orally has kept it in remission for way over a decade now. I use Ted's dosing instructions that call for 1/4 teaspoon of borax dissolved in a quart of water for men and 1/8th teaspoon dissolved in one quart of water for women.
Drink one full mix each weekday and take the weekends off. I still have the PA as attested to by the ridges on my nails, but no joint inflammation, joint deterioration or pain. Nothing ever worked this good for my PA. Five days on and 2 days off.

Suggestions for the following: use USP -especially if taking orally many powders contain impurities -which is the highest purity: Baking soda, Borax, Epsom salts, Clays, etc.
Supplements:fruits, vegetables, herbs, Amino acids, vita C, should be Organic or like with L Arginine USP or Pharma grade- both grades safer more effacious.
All this is if one has the funds as higher grades cost more as we all know. Then pick, if possible, your most important items to be organic or USP or Pharma grade.
Coffee organic, yes, but processing should be steam process as roasting destroys many nutrients in the nutrition packed beans. One brand has a patented process by a scientist which retains nutrients by recirculating. You can read about it.Healthy Roast Coffee (R)

The burning itch was unbearable and my foot was swollen to the point it couldn't fit in my soft slip-on sandal plus it weeped plasma continually, so I had to wrap it. I went to a NATUREPATH CLINIC and got VIT C and H202 IV (Hydrogen peroxide) several days plus $300 worth of supplements for a detox cleanse.
Nothing worked my foot was still swollen and itchy 😕...then upon waking, I started getting shooting pain and couldn't stand or walk for several minutes till veins expanded to receive blood flow. That night my foot tingled, I panicked, I read folks lost limbs when circulation is cut off to a limb. In middle of the night I got up and took tummeric and an aspirn. They helped with swelling and itching but in the morning I spit out blood from gums and I had blood blisters plus a large bruise on my arm.
What the heck‼️😟 Then I remembered that tummeric and aspirin are blood thinners and some of the supplements I was taking from the Natural clinic had curcumin in it which is also in tummeric so I had to stop the tummeric and aspirin.
I was out of options so the next morning I went running to Urgent Care and was given an antibiotic and a dreaded steroid (the reason I went to a natural clinic in the first place, to avoid steroids).
Well, the conventional doctor (a girl my daughter's age) assured me it was a low dossage for only 5 days to reduce swelling and prevent circulation issues), so, l I took the antibiotics and steroids as prescribed 😒 and my foot was almost back to normal ☺️.
But after the meds ran out, my foot swoll up again and the burning itching returned. 😟 Now what?
Was I going to become dependent on antibiotics and steroids?! I had previously joined a natural health chat line on WhatsApp where someone posted the PDF of the book, "FORBIDDEN HEALTH" that's when I read Borax is a one of the many minerals in SEA WATER💧and how it use to be a natural occurring mineral found in rich soil where apples and other produce would have as much as 20mg and diseases caused by high acidity like arthritis, psoriasis, diabetes, etc., where RARE.
I was unsure of the amount I should take, (now I'll take the amount recommended here) so, I took an aspirin size pinch of Borax with a glass of water and within an hour the burning itching stopped and my foot seemed less bloated and dry.
I repeated it later in day when I felt the itching come back. The next day my foot was 2 sizes smaller 😲.
I took it twice again, and I was blown away! Within 2 days the Borax had reduced the inflammation, stopped the unbearable burning itching, and stopped the weeping. Now, 4 days later my foot is the same size as my healthy foot, and no longer weeping 😀...it's still healing of course.
Per labs at the clinic my thyroid is out of wack and I have candida. So, I will continue taking Borax as recommended here to clean my gut and continue healing my foot now normal in size except for a bit of red patches still in healing process, I'm delighted ❣️🤗

it's great to see you have such success treating psoriasis using borax. my concern is when I googled "is borax ingestible?" and the answer is "no"; it's toxic and could be fatal if large amount was ingested! I'm lost. I've suffered plaque psoriasis for almost two years and have tried many things to avoid going to the doctor again. the steroid cream and antibiotic did nothing for me. my question is the borax you took "20mule team" borax, the one that sold at the wal-mart? what's the dosage & frequency? I'm in my sixty. thanks for your help.

Borax and White Vinegar
★★★★★
Easy cure. Apple cider vinegar is great but it is just not strong enough to kill various yeasts (Malazessia spp. [check it out on Google. What you need to do is dissolve 3 teaspoons of borax in half a cup of white vinegar. Pour this over your head (the yeasts begin their life-cycle here), and down onto your face and shoulders (and possibly your chest), and then leave it on for about 20/30 Min's whilst having a bath. Do this for about 3 days running (... If you can), and about once a week for a month. After the vinegar treatment, rinse your head/hair with half a cup of washing soda in a mug of warm water. At the slightest sign of any trouble repeat the treatment. Don't go anywhere near Doctors. Most are just crap at what they do.

Hi Maria I got mine over the internet from 2 places, the only I went to 2 places was that the supplier in nsw was a bit slow and it turns out he was having trouble with computer, so I went to another site from memory it's called whelping supplies, its near you in victoria. I purchased it to try to kill off foot odour, I had been using borax on my scalp 2 tbl to a glass of water, every second day, so I thought I would try the boracic acid (aka boric acid powder), so far so good even if you have to use it every 5-7 days, its better than scalp psorasis, best of luck it works for me.

Till this day, I eat it 3 to 4 times a week for breakfast. Be sure to follow the exact guidelines if you are on a quest to cure cancer. Also, be careful to stop consuming "focc" 3 to 4 days before any surgeries as it thins your blood nicely. I am a true believer in this diet as a "cancer preventative".

Candida Connection
★★★★★
I did the simple candida "spit test". Fill a tall glass of water & put next to bed. Upon awakening, gather as much spit as you can and spit into the glass before doing anything else. Wait 20 mins. If the spit forms long stringy 'legs' you probably have candida. If the spit sinks totally you could have severe candida. I tested positive.
I took Syntol (enzyme-probiotic) for 3 months to clear my candida (9 caps/day 1st month, 6 caps/day 2nd month, 3 caps/day 3rd month) and also ingested natural anti-fungal agents to help (fresh garlic clove, oregano oil extract, etc). I noticed within the very first week that my psoriasis was already getting better and within a month, it was totally gone.
A bonus tip: A few weeks into treatment I also discovered cold-pressed Castor Oil and rubbed it into my skin daily. This seemed to speed up healing and also took care of my dry and flaky skin in non-psoriasis areas.

Hi Herbgirl... My candida experience was similar to yours. As well as candida, I had psoriasis, eczma, tinea cruris(jock itch) and athletes foot (as well as alot of other problems). I had these skin problems for decades. When I eventually defeated and rid myself of my systemic candida, all these skin problems simply disppeared except the tinea cruris -- and I got rid of that in 2 days by simply applying Milk of Magnesia. So all these skin problems were associated with my candida and are perhaps best regarded as just part of the symptoms. This calls for a paradigm shift in our way of thinking about healing and cures that is wholly different from medical science's habit of treating just the symptoms. If I had gone to a doctor with all my candida problems, then undoubtedly he or she would have given me a powder and cream for my athlete's foot, another cream for my eczma, another cream for my tinea cruris as well as more internal drugs for my candida....
In most of the medical studies I've ever read on psoriasis, the research authorities, in their wisdom, have declared that you cannot get rid of psoriasis and, indeed, that it is a pre-cancerous condition and not so trivial.
However, through my own candida experience and riddance, I would say that these medical conclusions are incorrect. I got rid of my psoriasis 5 years ago at the same time as getting rid of my systemic candida problem and it has never reappeared. Therefore, I would also have to conclude that because of these facts, it is not the psoriasis that is pre-cancerous but that the candida should be regarded as the pre-cancerous culprit instead.

Gentle Earth,
Thanks for your well wishing. Yes! You are right about the coconut oil. I use only cold pressed organic coconut oil now when cooking, and I also use it on my skin. One of the anti-fungals--in addition to things like raw garlic, organo oil, pau d'arco, calendula and others--that is recommended for yeast infections is cold pressed coconut oil.
However, I did find that using it alone wasn't enough. The anti-fungal approach to yeast infections is only one part of treatment and if done alone doesn't seem to help rebalance your system. I did just anti-fungals first and felt great for awhile, but then the yeast just came back again.
After exhaustive internet searching I realized that it's a 3-pronged approach: 1) anti-fungals to kill back the yeast 2) digestive enzymes & probiotics to rebalance the intestines so the yeast can't get a new foothold and 3) change in diet (especially if your diet is high in processed foods and/or if you are sensitive to gluten and dairy)
Hope this helps!

Hi Bill,
I couldn't agree with you more. Psoriasis, eczema, etc. are all symptoms of something else that is wrong. Treating symptoms, and trying to treat just one part of the body without looking at the whole system, rarely gets anyone anywhere. A paradigm shift is needed indeed!
What first got me to look into self-treatment was when I began to have unexplainable stomach pains. I first went to the doctor for my stomach and she said, "oh tummy aches are very common. See if it goes away in a few months. " That was it! She didn't even examine me! I then went to a naturopath who said it could be food sensitivities. She tested me for gluten and dairy allergies, nothing. Like the doctor, she said, "see if goes away."
That was when I really took things into my own hands and hit the internet, discovering the candida connection to a host of ailments, including skin diseases, IBS, and other so-called untreatable illnesses.
Like any paradigm shift, if we do go to doctors it is our responsibility to speak up and share our own findings, even if the doctor shakes them off and tells us we're crazy. I have a friend who completely changed her doctor's perspective when she was prescribed antibiotics. She accepted the prescription but said she'd like to try some natural remedies first. She came back to her doctor in a week totally cured, and gave the doctor her own "prescription. " Since then, her doctor started to work with a naturopath and now prescribes alternative treatments before handing out antibiotics. So: there's hope!
In the meantime, viva self-empowerment and sites like this!!! :-)

Hello Herbgirl. I must reply to your post since, your post lead me to alleviate all my symptoms of psoriasis out of the many I read. I reply to you in thanks but I am also in very large part writing to anyone who has symptoms of psoriasis so that I may possibly help someone. Much of the information on the web as of 2012 was not encouraging and I don't suspect it has changed. I read your post several months ago when I had an itching spreading spot on the front of my leg exactly where my cell phone was kept in my front pocket. I then learned that prolonged cell phone/skin contact causes a burn and psoriasis can be "triggered" from a skin injury. I believed a burn could be just such a skin injury. (Dear reader: If you are reading this to hopefully cure your condition please excuse my rambling style. I know how difficult it is combing through posts looking for a solution. I have included all I have done to elleviate my symptoms and all the reasoning I can remember, but it is scattered throughout the post).
I've been no stranger to strange skin conditions (and doctors shrugging their shoulders at me and giving me some ointment of some sort and hoping that I go away) so I read up on it myself and ended up using hydro-cortizone cream very early on which cleared it temporarily and allowed me to sleep without the burning itch but would come back even more severe and spread out days later. I read and searched more. I chose not to be diagnosed since the hydrocortozone cream made it go away temporarily. I figured my guess was as good as most any doctor I had run into at that point. If the hydrocortozone didn't have any affect at I all, I would have been at a dermatologist at once with fears of chemotherapy. Using the hydro-cortozone cream lead me to believe that what I had was most likely psoriasis and not anything more severe. Also I had quite of a bit of separation of my middle fingernail bed on both hands which I understand is an indicator of psoriasis or a type of it. On the spot on my leg, there was a bit of flaking and it seamed to have a cyclic nature of spread and scale/flake and it always itched, especially when I was stressed. All these things were consistant with psoriasis symptoms and the pictures of diagnosed psoriasis affected skin on the web looked most like my condition.
Based mainly on your posts I started eating two table spoons of organic coconut oil twice a day and soon I was sore all over. I had attempted a candida diet about ten years before and I had given up on it. I realized this ache was the "die off" feeling that I had felt on the candida diet so I started on the Syntol immediately. Also I was drinking the organic apple cider vinegar and baking soda (1 TBSP to 1/2 teaspoon baking soda to about 10 oz water) twice a day. After a week on the Syntol (3 capsules 1 hour before a meal and 3 capsules 2 hours after a meal) two or three times a day, I noticed less itching and no more spreading on my leg. For the next several weeks I would only itch and flair up during periods of stress but it was less severe and there was healing (natural looking skin) at the center of the red spot. I quit taking the 2 tablespoons of organic coconut oil after I believed the Syntol was doing a better job of eliminating and evacuating the yeasts. My meaning is that I felt less sore and I figured I was exposing myself to less toxins and in this way take longer to accomplish the gut flora balance which I thought might be easier on my system in general. Plus the relaxation of the symptoms resulted in less stress and more confidence that my body was being allowed to heal itself. As far as I can figure, when the coconut oil kills the yeast it just releases the toxins into your body, but the syntol surrounds them colloidally (I'm familiar with colloid action having had a bit of chemistry in a previous lab job that I had to quit due to allergies... ). I now see the soreness after ingesting coconut oil as a very useful indicator of yeast in the gut (the more sore the worse the problem I suppose).
After about a month and a half of taking the Syntol there was a red circle left around the affected area which diminished after a few more weeks. At this time I relaxed my intake of apple cider vinager and baking soda. In times of stress, a small area of where the problem first started would turn red for about an hour or two and then subside without itching. It has been several months and I am completely itch free even under stress. The area of the first redness and itching is now just barely visible like a year old tan line and invisible under bright light. Thank you so much for your post! My first symtoms started about 8 months ago with a spot about the size of a silver dollar and after three months was about 5 inches in diameter. Now, at about five months from the worst point, I am completely free of any trouble from it. I am now quite thankful for the ordeal to have brought this underlying gut flora balance problem to my attention again and hopefully I have solved it. It is quite likely the underlying problem would have come to the surface in a possibly more severe manner in the future. I drink the apple cider vinegar occasionally. I took the Syntol for about three months. I've taken a break from it for a while since it's not exactly cheap (worth it though). I believe I'll experiment taking a maintance type of amount to see if my fingernails will completely attach. They are not quite as seperated but still a noticeable bit detached at one side.

This winter I decided to change my face-washing method from regular facial cleanser to natural Oil Cleaning method using the mixture of castor oil and olive oil. The oil cleaning worked very nicely... But it turned out that there was an unexpected bonus effect on my psoriasis! Without giving much thought, I rubbed the oil mixture (with greater concentration of castor oil) on my elbow. The next day, when I looked at the elbow -- I was surprised to see the thing actually clearing up just as good as Elocon! Since then, I've only tried this for about a week and I haven't been very persistent in my application, just randomly putting things on whenever I remembered.. But I'm guessing if I continue this everyday perhaps it will really be gone completely. I read that castor oil is naturally antibacterial so I wonder if it played some role to clear up my small psoriasis. If anybody else share the same experience I'd like to know. I am posting this because I noticed there was no section for castor oil under the category of psoriasis.

Hi Paloma, I just wanted to back you up on the castor oil. It is one of those 'miracle' remedies that can be used on the skin, hair, and even as a hot pack for curing major internal diseases (see Edgar Cayce and castor oil).
I used castor oil on my psoriasis, along with an internal yeast treatment (see my psoriasis post called 'Candida Connection'), and found that it really sped up my healing. After just one use I noticed a huge difference on my psoriasis patches!
Castor oil is also great for age spots, wrinkles, dandruff, and a host of other maladies.
Glad you are well!
Castor Oil, Turpentine, Coconut Oil

I wanted to share a combination therapy that took care of my recent (and nasty) outbreak of psoriasis on the top of one of my hands as well as the groin area. I have no idea what caused this outbreak this time, I have not had one in years, other than I was loading up on plenty of sweets for a good while just before it happened. This is something I don't normally do.
This lead to the psoriasis on the hands spreading to four of my fingernails and turned them bad.
After much reading on earthclinic, I began to (one by one) try the various suggested remedies - including different alkalizing therapies, ACV twice a day, coconut oil , and even colloidal silver sprays as a topical.
I am convinced by now , that psoriasis (as well as eczema are caused by a fungal /candida overgrowth as sugar nearly always seems to aggravate it, along with it mostly growing in areas that are moist. ( I wore work gloves all summer while gardening, and sweating profusely in them, and why I feel my one hand broke out, strangely the other hand did not at all! ).
Believing psoriasis to be a fungal issue, I had been experimenting with Dr. Jennifer Daniels turpentine therapy (found online and I am an avid listener of hers) prior to this outbreak. I followed it for awhile and then forgot about it. I have recently started the turp therapy again, BUT while in doing so, I decided to mix a little with castor oil and apply it to the groin area that was growing so painful (burning and itching)from the psoriasis patches . I was getting desperate and determined to find relief some way, some how.
I found instant relief and the itching stopped almost at once. a few days ago I begin to add in a little virgin coconut oil to the mix and today I noticed the patches are disappearing very quickly, and the 'oozing' has mostly subsided! I couldn't believe my eyes! the oozing patches were beginning to make me crazy, smelly and just a real gross mess.
The mixture again: approx 1 TBSP castor oil in a dish, add approx 3 drops of pure gum turpentine, and 1/2 tbsp melted coconut oil.. mix it with your fingers and apply to the areas (and the areas surrounding the patches) leave it on overnight and repeat the process each day until its gone.
**Very important to keep the areas clean with a gentle washing a few times a day. Dry the area well (I used a hair dryer on a gentle setting) and wipe down the area with a rag soaked in ACV. I then tried slathering the entire area with the inside of the banana peel (something I read on earthclinic), dried the area again and then applied the castor oil/turp/coconut oil mixture.
As far as my fingernails go, they are somewhat slow to recover of course, as a whole new nail must regrow. I use a combination of various treatments and keep mixing it up to keep the infection from growing resistance to any one treatment.
I use the ionic colloidal spray on my entire hand and nails twice or more a day - whenever I think about it, along with ACV (soaking the nails in it). as well as peroxide, alcohol and even iodine/diluted. I have also introduced the turpentine directly onto the nails and allowing it to soak in and around and underneath the nails.
They are healing up nicely with new growth about half way out the nails.
I most certainly will keep a watch out on my sugar intake from here on out. I really feel like for me, it can trigger a horrific outbreak that can take months to get under control. I feel like maybe our systems are extremely out of balance with all the toxic overload in our bodies and environments.
I forgot to mention too that when I began these therapies, I immediately introduced probiotics back into my diet, something I had slacked off from for a long period. this included home-made milk kefir, home-made yoghurt, home-made fermented saurkraut, to get the stomach flora back in balance. The dairy did not seem to aggravate my psoriasis. I had also switched back to making my own home-made sourdough bread, noodles and other things with wheat, which I also drastically reduced my intake.
The hybridized, G.E , pesticide ridden wheat out there these days, I feel is very lethal for consumption> I am not sure if fermenting it helps, but are hopeful it might offset some of the dangers. if anyone knows, I would love to hear.
I hope this may help some of you, psoriasis is such a dreadful condition to have to deal with, I know.

The most severely affected area was her back--she was even waking up with blood on her sheets. She tried different prescription ointments (including a $1000.00 spray!), none of which were very effective. After doing some research, she decided to try CBD oil. Her dose was 1 drop sublingually (under the tongue) in the morning. On day 2, her psoriasis was clearing up.
When I saw her, it had been 2 weeks since she started taking it, and the psoriasis had completely cleared up, except for that dime size spot on her back. She even forgot to take the CBD oil one day. I didn't think to ask her what type of psoriasis she had, but the remedy that worked for her --1 drop CBD oil under the tongue in the morning.
