Coal Tar Ointment, White Vinegar
★★★★☆
My experience is to stop its growth at its onset. I use an ointment with a 2% coal tar. I also use white vinegar to remove the scaly skin if there is any, before applying the ointment. Calamine lotion can help if you suffer from the terrible night-itch.
Key point is, keep your skin moistened at all times (glycerine is a good choice after shower) and avoid going to places with extreme dry weather. I would wear long sleeves shirts and trousers if I have to visit those places.
Best!

I kept going with the detox and changed my diet, No dairy, no flour, no sugar, no gluten. I also started probiotics and I started a homeopathic treatment, a year later I am about 85% Psoriasis free. It has been a very slow and painful process and I always itch even when I have no patches on my upper body just a few on my legs.
I tried every cream and ointment, every oil to calm the itch. The only thing I have found useful for me is Cocoa butter. This product has been the only one I've found calms my skin immediately. I use it all over my skin from face to toe and it is wonderful!

Just few things things to remember Cut all your sweets anything that is made of sugar, white flour, starchy foods . Drink a lot of water in between meals, exercise chill out stress free lifestyle. Eat a lot of veggies mixed it with coconut oil. That's All. Please spread this words to all you known who suffers from this diseases.
Coconut oil is helpful for some people, but not for others. I went through many jars of quality CO both orally and topically with no noticeable change in psoriasis. I've read anecdotal reports saying it helps and others saying it doesn't. Definitely worth a try in case you are one of the lucky ones! It's pretty inexpensive and readilly available.
As far as being a cure, well......not for me.

In reply to Kalpanamayee (I),
Thank you for the thought!
I have tried coconut oil, evening primrose oil, castor oil, olive oil, jojoba oil, grapeseed oil, canola oil, shea butter, almond oil, black cumin seed oil, vegetable oil, emu oil, sesame seed oil, fish oil, black currant seed oil, borage oil, mineral oil and others with mixed results, but none helped to lessen my psoriasis, only soothe. Jojoba oil and Emu oil would be my favorites as far as being easy to use with minimal smell. I have tried well over a hundred supplements and alternative remedies including everything Ted has posted on EC and again with little if any benefit or benefit that was very short lived and not maintainable.
Psoriasis is different for different people and some people can get benefit from certain oils while others can not. The type and severity of the psoriasis also plays into the equation. I have had guttate, inverse, plaque and the dreaded erythrodermic psoriasis which can kill you. My psoriasis falls into the moderate to severe category and is fairly resistant to many treatments. I suspect that what we know as psoriasis can be caused by many different problems in the body and the psoriasis that we see may only be a symptom of any of those problems. This could explain why something may completely clear one person with psoriasis while doing absolutely nothing for another person with psoriasis.
I am currently experimenting with a supplement that seems to be helping and I will post about it here on EC if it it continues to improve my psoriasis and continues to work over time. For now it is just another experiment for me and it is too soon to even discuss it because I have tried many things that initially showed some benefit, but that was all as the benefit quickly went away.

It's also because she stopped eating sugar, guys. That's a key component she did, which you're probably not doing. As it is a fungus you're dealing with.

There's no such thing as "Extra" Virgin Coconut Oil... it's just a marketing term to get you to spend more cash. There is Virgin Coconut Oil.
Coconut Oil
Try taking cold processed virgin coconut oil 3 1/2 tablespoon daily continuously for at least a month.
Sip a lemon & a pinch of sea salt after to refresh your mouth.

I am a little mad at myself for not using this sooner (I think I avoided it because I hate using anything greasy). For starters, I found my coconut oil at my local Walmart. I use Extra Virgin Organic Coconut Oil, which you can find in the vitamin section for $10.
The first time I applied this, I put it directly on the affected areas and left it on overnight (to heat the oil I leave the container in a bowl of hot water). By morning, all the red patches had turned white and were completely smooth. I can't tell you how thrilled I was. I now use this as a deep conditioner once a week, as well. Coconut Oil has become my go-to treatment for my psoriasis.

I developed plaque psoriasis on 1 knee and 2 elbows and guttate psoriasis on my legs 18 months ago. I tried every suggestion under dermatitis and eczema and psoriasis that I could do, applying topically, ACV, Oregano oil, Tea Tree oil, honey, coconut oil, GSE, etc. I have to say all topical remedies did not work for me at all. All the red spots just stayed red and never healed while moisturizing and treating with the above.
What did work was reading a couple of posts stating to do nothing to them, just wash them with a warm cloth. This made sense as I had a couple of spots on my back that I could not reach to treat and they healed on their own. So I also took the idea from the person who was taking coconut oil internally and it had healed his psoriasis. I stopped treating it externally with everything and started taking 1 TBLS of Coconut oil on Oatmeal each morning and another TBLS in a cup of hot chocolate at night. I believed the post that moisturizing from the inside would likely be the proper way to go. So taking the coconut oil internally each day, also 1 Vitamin B complex per day, 1 Vit. C 500mg. per day and 2 capsules of Essential Health Oil per day, (contains flax seed oil, black currant seed oil, Pumpkin seed oil & safflower oil) this all or maybe just the coconut oil? has healed one elbow completely, the other is almost healed, the knee plaque only has a tiny spot left and keeps shrinking and all the bright redness to the flat spots has disappeared. The backs of my legs and sides up my thighs are healed and all that is left is very light pink pigmentation spots on my shins. These are still healing and looking so much better that I can now wear shorts again with no concerns. I continue daily to just wipe them down with a warm wet thick cloth, (just water) and am having great success. The dry lines on my legs have disappeared and I am NOT moisturizing externally! Spots on my hands have completely healed as well. I was putting so much time into daily treatment topically, getting frustrated and I just wanted to say thank you to all the posters who try to help anyone with their suggestions. Those 2 posts were a hit for me and I wanted to share as well with others suffering. As a previous poster said "do nothing" to your psoriasis, they also stated it would take time, yes it does be patient, it's been 2 months for me to get to this stage.
Also I would like to add that I broke out with perioral dermatitis after using contact cement. I used your site and immediately applied ACV to the rash for a couple of days and applied Calendula cream after the ACV dried for a week and within days it healed and in one week completely gone! Thank you so much for this site and to all the wonderful people who take the time to help others!

Coconut oil, is wonderful, it took care of a white cyst on the corner of my eye after having it 6 mos, in 3 days! SESAME SEED OIL, is also wonderful listen to this: I used it on my dog who had a growing skin sore on her forehead, ( looked awful and scary, and the dog was very itchy) for over 6 mos, nothing worked, I started putting sesame seed oil and in 5 days it totally healed and the hair grew back in. Years later I developed psoriasis on my leg it was about 3"x 3" bright pink and scaly, and extremely itchy, I tried petroleum gels and it turned purplish and scaly, it looked awful and scary. I remembered the sesame seed and how it healed my chiuaua, so I purchased a bottle of SESAME SEED ORGANIC OIL and put it on, it started working almost instantly within an hour the bright pink was light pink, the itching stopped. I kept putting more on throughout the day, by the next morning the psoriasis flareup I have been dealing with for several weeks, is almost gone!!! It also worked on my very dry cracked palms, (I do massage so my palms crack and burn allot) All I can say is WOW! SESAME, SEED OIL is the BOMB!!!

Oh, and for itching, if you have the plant called autumn joy (sedum) in your yard--go out and break a couple of leaves off and rub them into the lesions. This works for mosquito bites too.
I hope this helps!

Coconut Oil, Hot Water
★★★★☆
For the itching, I discovered by accident that running the area under VERY hot water - almost scalding - was incredibly effective and the relief lasted for several hours (AH! Sweet sleep! ) but I had logistics problems because I could only access the bathtub faucet which prevented a lot of areas from getting this relief. You'll need to be right at the controls, as your skin will tell you "hotter" or "cooler" as needed, and it will vary by the moment. Pat dry w/ paper towel & don't apply anything to the skin.
There are a few theories why the hot water works, one of which is that it forces the release of histamines out through the skin. But as far as I know, no one really knows why. It just does.
