Can you please tell me why my daughter gets recurrent infections of UTI and throat? She has large lymph gland removes in 09 tonsils removed in 2010. She has been on about 8 antibiotics in 10 months. She seems to get uti and throat infections at the same time always running fever with them. She is now in college and this is affecting her alot. Does antibiotics affect immune system and make it weak?

THANKS

Antibiotic kills all your good flora! Thats all the good bacteria that helps fight the bad ones. And if taken for a long time yes it breaks down your immune system. Your immune system starts in your intestines were all the nutrients are sucked into your body and if there is no good bacteria to fight the bad ones... Well then you left with only bad ones taking over. A good alternative to those antibiotics is Grape Fruit seed extract. I have used it with great results.

However; I have been doing daily research on this field and came across very interesting information and soon will start testing them. some of them are;

read all the remedies from the top tab, very informative. This is the best web site, I have benefited from many remedies posted here!

I've read online that coconut may kill the bacteria that causes UTIs and throat infections. It may help your daughter in other ways too. This information was gleaned from the Coconut Research Center.

Wishing your daughter well!

Drinking a lot of water is good for UTI's. It washes away germs. I wonder if drinking Chlorinated water is the best way to go. Chlorine is a real germ killer. It is so powerful that it can kill fish. So if you drink chlorinated water and it goes out the urinary track, then the germs get it good.

Chlorine is not god to drink. For starters it depletes the body of Vitamin E. If you leave water sit for about 15 minutes the chlorine vanishes from it.

Google the dangers of drinking Chlorine.

(Drinking enough water is a good thing. For me, enough water is 1/2 my weight in ounces.)

Responding to Ronald's post:

Or, from what I've learned from a iodine/iodide Yahoo group I'm a member of, the chlorine will displace the bromine, which will then displace iodine in the body, making folks deficient.

The halides -- fluoride->chloride->bromide->iodide -- lightest displacing the heaviest on the empirical table. I'm still trying to figure out though how taking iodine in larger doses (than recommended) would displace fluoride if displacement happens by weight.

So people ought to do more searching for info/facts before drinking chlorinated water. I'm not so sure chlorinated water is a good idea if it's the chlorinated tap water we're talking about.

I have a great trick for chronic UTIs! At least it worked for me: eating the equivalent of a dice of raw ginger every day. I discovered it by accident,I has a constant subtle pain like the beggining of a UTI for almost a year! It was so annoying. Nothing came up in my blood and urine analysis, it was so frustrating. Sometimes I was having a crisis, got antibiotics, the acute pain was gone, but that annoying little pain was remaining, like a little pinching. And then I had a cold and a friend recommended raw ginger (add milk, or yoghurt, or some food, it's very acidic!). Well my flu didn't stop, but within 2-3 days my UTI symptoms totally disappeared. I continued taking it for about one week or two. And it has been gone.it's now been about 2 years.

When I feel the slightest beginning of pain(it really almost never happens) I just eat some ginger, smaller quantity now. I hope this helps someone too.

I had recently read that goldenseal is good for bladder/UT infections. I went to the local pharmacy and picked up a Goldenseal Echineaca blend capsule. I took two capsules three times per day when I first felt symptoms of the UTI. To be thorough, I also bought a home urine test to measure the possibility of UTI. The test measured that I was positive for UTI. After taking the goldenseal for 1 day, I was symptom free. After 2 days, I retook the test and was negative. I continued the goldenseal capsules for 5 days and tapered offer to once per day for a few more days. Symptoms never reappeared and still registered normal on the urine test 2 weeks later.

I also had an experience with symptoms of a yeast infection. I used a douche mixture of one capsule of goldenseal, 1/4 tsp of salt and one cup of water. Douched once and was symptom free w/in one day. However, I followed up with a second douche two days later to be sure and symptoms never resurfaced. Even after my pap smear just one month later, I was clear. I actually mentioned my experience to my doctor. He said its always best to come in to be checked but he is aware of goldenseal's antibiotic properties!

Forget drinking vinegar, just eat 2 grape leaf pickles for a bladder infection. They are very salty and vinegary. You can also take 1 cranberry pill while eating the pickles. Wait 30 minutes before you start drinking lots of water. Preventive also after intercourse. Dial antibacterial soap -- wash privates within 5 minutes after intercourse too is great.

I find Nutribiotic Grapefruit Seed Extract (tablet form) to work on my UTI's. I also use Miracle II Neutralizer Gel to relieve the burning/itching. It will help in the vaginal area, but for maximum effectiveness, use some type of syringe or applicator to get it further up into the vagina. Make sure you wash the applicator well first.

These two work consistently for me.

Grapefruit Seed Extract and Clove Oil

I had a very rare UTI (first one in 5 years) after this Christmas and a little too much champagne and sherry trifle. I love Earth Clinic so came straight here to check out the remedies and used what I had already at home to start with.

I started with alkalising salts (carbonates of sodium, magnesium and potassium) - quite high doses of around 6-8 teaspoons per day. I also took buffered Vitamin C (sodium ascorbate) - about 20-30g per day in 3-5g doses at a time. This combination kept the pain at bay but it did NOT cure the infection.

So I went out to buy some other remedies including D-Mannose, probiotic and grapefruit seed extract. I took the D-Mannose in high doses (about 800mg x 5) and the probiotic about 400 million cultures x 4 per day). I took the recommended 15 drops grapefruit seed extract about an hour after I'd taken the probiotic and took this 3 times a day.

Nothing really changed but on day 6 I read that clove oil could help so I added 3 drops in a capsule to try out one morning and decided to up the dose of the GSE. This actually seemed to have an effect - the UTI reduced for a few hours but came back with a vengeance later in the day.

Sadly, after 3 days of taking the really high doses of D-Mannose and probiotic I ran out of both although neither seemed to have made any difference to the UTI - it was still quite painful.

However, one thing I realised was that the combination of more GSE and clove oil seemed to have been effective. So now, left with only the alkalising salts, Vitamin C, clove oil and grapefruit seed extract, I decided to go all out for it with the GSE and clove oil! So I upped the dose to an intuited 40 drops about every hour or two and ignored all advice about limiting the clove oil and took 3 drops every 2 hours.

I drank a HUGE amount of water along with the alkalising salts (about 6 litres) but I do drink a lot of water regularly so this was only 2 litres more than I would drink on a summer's day. Anyway at the end of the day, I got a result!

UTI was MUCH better and hardly any pain. I took a load of water to bed and some alkalising salts and another clove oil capsule and when I woke up to pee (too much water! ) I drank the glass with the salts and clove oil. In the morning I almost felt normal.

Today is day 7 and I have drunk about 4 litres of water and taken much less of the alkalising salts as I feel I don't need them. I'm still taking the GSE and clove oil but can tell that I'm healing and should be clear in another day or two. I'd gone from pain of 8 out of 10 to 2 out of 10 in one day (with the extra GSE) and then today I have no pain, just a little feeling in my bladder that is not even discomfort - just that it feels a bit different and tells me I need to keep taking the GSE and clove oil.

The downside of taking so much Vitamin C is that it makes your stomach a bit uncomfortable. The clove oil does not taste that nice and the GSE may taste a bit sour to some but I drink the juice of 4-5 lemons a day anyway so for me it was OK. The upside is that with all the alkalising, Vitamin C and water my skin looks amazing - it's glowing, plumped and I look at least 5 years younger than last week! So good comes out of bad and I will always keep GSE and clove oil just in case, in 5 years time, I get another UTI after Christmas champagne!

As a man, I had extreme painful urination and after about 4 days of feeling funny, I noticed white pus? or sperm? or yeast or something white coming out of my penis. I went to the doctor. The piss test revealed nothing, he then asked had I had sex recently and I said yes and he said oh its definitely gonorrhea or trichinosis probably mixed with chlamydia then. I said doc, those infections have green or yellow pus, this is white. They also come with very swollen lymph nodes, etc. He said "I see this all the time". I said Doc, none of the women I been with are complaining about even the slightest discomfort or odor so it cant be gonorrhea as women are much more symptom prone than men and I hadnt been with anyone for 10 days at this point. So rather than sit there arguing, I deferred to the "medical doctor" who then gave a shot of resofin (sp?) in my butt and 250mg Azithromycin 1x day and 500 mg Metronidazole 2x day.

I didnt feel better after 5 days of taking the medicine the doctor prescribed. At this point I was hoping I didnt have bacteria resistant gonorrhea. It still felt like there was something stuck in my penis and the burning at the very tip felt maybe 50% better. I then went to my stash of natural medicine and before I went to bed I took 15 drops of Grapefruit seed extract in a glass of water and drunk the water while taking 2 tablets of 250mg D-Mannose then around about 4am I woke up out of my sleep and my penis didnt feel swollen. I went to the bathroom to urinate and things felt a lot better. I then woke up and took the same dosage 2 tablets of D-Mannoose and washed them down with water containing 15 drops of GSE again and continued first thing in morning and last thing at night for 5 days with the combo. I have not had any problems since.

Any of a few things couldve happened. 1. All 3 prescriptons which basically cover 99% of the possible STD's I could have had didnt work. 2. The prescriptions didnt work until I took the grapefruit seed extract with it, in the literature about grapefruit seed extract they are known to make antibiotics twice more powerful when combined with them. 3. None of the prescriptions did anything and the grapefruit seed extract and D-Mannose combo cured it. 4. The GSE cured it alone. 5. The D-Mannose cured it alone.

All I know is that had a infection that normal medicine and a 3 prescription combo couldnt kill and had I not taken the GSE with the D-Mannose I would still be in a TON of pain. Yet I am 100% cured with no issues. Hope my story helps, ask me any questions you may have.

Just wanted to add before I went to the doctor I did heavy doses of Apple Cider Vinegar. I then did Centex. I also did 3 diff types of Cranberry extracts. Vitamin C high doses and GSE tablets. None of them did much if anything to slow the infection.

Grapeseed Extract cured my Urinary Tract Infection

I scheduled a doctor's visit for what I thought was a UTI (frequent urination with discomfort, bloated abdomen, back pain, etc) but they could not see me til the next week. So I bought grapeseed extract capsules and took 2 daily in conjunction with drinking water at every opportunity. (To help flush out any bacteria. )

The day before my appointment, my symptoms had stopped and I was never diagnosed with a UTI, though the doctor said my symptoms matched a UTI diagnosis, and that mine had probably cleared on its own. I didn't mention the grapeseed extract; I was just glad my symptoms were gone. It took about 5 days of grapeseed extract daily.

Yes! Isn't it wonderful, and it's so much cheaper than D-Mannose and Doctors! I just posted about it on my blog. So glad to see others have tried it too.

Hematuria Remedies

Posted by Honeylette (Dublin, Ireland) on 07/24/2009

8 years ago my son experienced hematuria when he was still 7 years old. The doctors suspected him og having a PAN, a conditon i dont fully understand. His basophils were higher then normal and many more. I combine medical treatment, pranic healing which was effective too and supported him of a fresh herbal tea as his drinking water. He recovered in a year depriving him from eating all prohibited foods and colored drinks. What I want to know if this is recurrent or heriditary as my grand daughter had a UTI at 7 months old. May I know our simple guides to prevent UTI (hematuria) from recurring? I am scared to hear this ailment. thank you

EC: "In medicine, hematuria, or haematuria, is the presence of red blood cells (erythrocytes) in the urine. It can be a sign that there is a kidney stone or a tumor in the urinary tract (kidneys, ureters, urinary bladder, prostate, and urethra), ranging from trivial to lethal. If white blood cells are found in addition to red blood cells, then it is a signal of urinary tract infection." http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hematuria

Hibiscus Tea Prevents UTIs Flavonoids in hibiscus tea possess antibacterial activity. Gossypetin prevents bacterial biofilms that cause UTIs. I few years ago I developed recurring cystitis to the point that my GP wrote me a prescription for a course of antibiotics. Antibiotics are the worst option because they destroy both good and bad bacteria. Once antibiotics are stopped an infection can often resume with a vengeance. I tried D-mannose first, which worked OK for a while and then I tried hibiscus tea. Hibiscus tea was a complete game changer. Within two days my UTI had completely cleared. One cup of hibiscus tea taken every night with my evening meal is enough to keep UTIs at bay. I have never suffered a UTI since. I always try to make sure that my kitchen cupboards are stocked with enough hibiscus tea.

Editor's Choice

A friend recently had a UTI / bladder infection that was resistant to just about everything tried. I suggested the ever popular Himalayan Pink Sea Salt remedy since there was some on hand and that UTI is now a faded memory in three days or less!

One half teaspoon in a cup of water 3 or 4 times per day.
