I can relate to all the people in this thread that give God the praise for leading them to this information. Over the last few weeks, what I thought was a bad pimple on my front torso quickly developed into the scaly, round rash enclosed in an inflammed, raised doughnut-shape, typical of ringworm. However, there are other symptoms as well, and if anyone has experienced this or knows anything about it, please respond! Around the lesion, all over my torso and arms I have very, very tiny bumps, very hard to see except under certain lighting or in a magnified mirror. But when I run my hands over these areas, it feels like brail! They are very present. There is also very mild, low level itching all over my body. Is this typical with ringworm, or is this a sign of something else? I will be seeing a dermatologist this week, but I wanted to ask in the forum here because there is no guarantee that the doctor won't mis-diagnose me, and if anyone has had a similar experience, I want to hear from you!

Yesterday I went and bought a bottle of Absorbine, Jr. from CVS. I disinfected the lesion with HO, then held a sterile cotton ball with the solution to the sore until the pain and tingling stopped. It burned a lot more than the HO, very strongly, but I was prepared for the pain and that helped to endure it. It stopped the itching and felt very soothed after that. The doughnut-ring began scabbing over, the center darkened to a dark yellowish-brown color (my complexion is naturally tan).

My second application of the Absorbine, Jr. Didn't go as well, because I felt the sore was itchier AFTER I applied it than before. After an hour or so I followed up with white vinegar instead - this REALLY helped stop the itching, and I felt it working more deeply under the skin. The lesion has not itched me since that white vinegar application yesterday, but I still have the "itchies" here and there, and the tiny brail-like bumps. (I chose white vinegar because it made sense to me - in the past I've sprayed vinegar on the bathroom tiles to discourage mold, as it is a mold-inhibitor.)

I will be alternating the Absorbine, Jr. (max 4x per day) with the white vinegar (as often as desired) after disinfecting with either HO or rubbing alcohol. I will also be washing EVERYTHING in the laundry (clothes, sheets, pillows, carpets, cloth shower curtain) with detergent, oxygen bleach and tea-tree oil, spraying alcohol on things that can't be washed, (exercise equipment, etc. ) and treating my mattress. I've set up my sinks with dispenser soap tea tree oil and bottles of alcohol, and using paper towels to dry hands. Hair is blow-dried and tied up, and I am using combs to scratch my scalp if itchy - I don't want this to spread to scalp as I read that hair can break off. If I'm missing anything, please let me know!

I returned from Mexico with what I think is a bad case of ringworm. I tried using hydracortisone cream as the pharmacist told me my marks were insect bites. A day later there were more spots and the cortisone did nothing for the itch. I went to 3 other pharmacy's & no one could tell me what the marks were or how to treat them, I sent a photo to a friend who thought it was ringworm. I went back to the pharmacy and they gave clotrimazole. I used this for one day and saw the post on Absorine Jr. I have used nearly a entire bottle today after applying it four times as I have so many spots. All the original spots seem to be drying up and not looking as red which is great. I am concerned though that I seem to be having new lesions coming up every time I went to apply another round of Absorbine today. Can anyone please tell me if they had the same thing happen. Why am I still getting new outbreaks. I have washed all clothing, bedding and towels today in clorox and have been using plastic gloves to apply Absorbine an paper towel to dry my hands after washing them. Thanks

I never really post on forums but earthclinic has saved me a lot. Absorbine jr does work, it takes away the intense itching. I had ringworm before on my face. It lasted 6 months and it was scaley, patchy and spreading like fire. This time it had tiny little rings with the same symptoms. I had put some antiseptic on it and it literally gave me a chemical burn on my face. This scabbed over but I was itching underneath and could feel the fungus growing intensely. Due to my scab, I had no other choice but to try to swab some black walnut tincture over it and then applied new skin liquid bandaid. LIFE SAVER, the bandaid helped the fungus from spreading and stopped the itch. I applied this for 3 days after the bandaid peeled off in some areas, it was itching again, the fungus was mad. No creams or medications helped so I was desperate, I had been adding black walnut Hull capsules to heal internally as well. Where the bandaid peeled off, I applied asborbine jr. It helps a lot but after an hour it comes right back and itches.

Finally I just threw some comet or ajax after I swiped with the absorbine jr where it was still moist. This kept the comet ajax on, and believe it or not, I have not had itching for over 5 hrs. I feel that its actually healing. I know comet ajax is dangerous but after months of prior ringworm, I was not going to go through half a year couped in my house so I don't spread it to others. The absorbine jr and ajax comet has been the best remedy for me as it seems to kill the fungus immediately. I will update in a few days. Also remember, I had scabs over the ringworm making this all very difficult to treat!

Update - it wasn't ringworm after all. This was confirmed by a visit to the dermatologist's office. The nurse practitioner gave me a treatment to soothe the symptoms, and this is what really worked for me as I waited for it (pityriasis rosea) to fade away.

It was a mistake to self-treat, it only made things worse by causing scarring that took a very long time to go away. I think it can be wise to get a diagnosis and consult a doctor if you can before any self-treatment.

I am trying to find out if I can use this product on the scalp.... Both my sons have it on their scalp and although I use Olive Oil to remove the scales regularly, it continues to come back with a vengence each time. So can someone please tell me if it's ok for the scalp. I am desperate to find a solution to this insanity!

I contracted a sudden/first time problem with scalp infections which I cannot tame after a year of seemingly trying everything; then suddenly got a ringworm on my upper arm (which I treated successfully in 3 weeks using Blue Goo, nail fungus treatment from the dollar store $3.99). Now I am wondering if the two are related, so I'm looking here for more treatments to try! (I've tried all the ones on the scalp page so now I'm feeling more desperate, lol).

Kim. I would say you can use this on the scalp without affecting the hair because they make a product with the exact ingredients as the original Absorbine Jr, (Not Plus-new formula), for horses. Says it is good for shiny hair. By the way if you buy this it is about a 1/4 the cost for a lot more. 16 ounces = $10. DO NOT rub absorbane jr over large amounts of your body! A teenage died from doing that! Your skin absorbs it and you overdose and DIE!!!! Look up info on it for yourself.

I googled death from this product.. I found nothing... Maybe something like aspercream would kill you obiously from asprin overdose....... Anyway, I have a damn rash on my leg and have tried everything... My brother had to use a super steroid to resolve the issue.... I have started using absorbine jr today.. It does actually looks better already... I will update in a few days. I did use a steroid cream prescribed from my doctor.... I got the rash 25% better but not gone. PS you can youtube it people have been using this stuff as mosquito repellent.. I think its the menthol... I would put it on my clothes but menthol on your skin in the summer may be a bit much.

Since 8/9 I put it absorbine on 4 times a day... They forgot a few times here and there.... It actually got a little worse for a few days... Then... As of Today it is clearly going away. I dont own stock in absorbine... Lol..... As your skin scabs over and you wash dead skin off gently in the shower or bath... You will feel some intence pain when applying it.... I should have taken pictures. I will update once 1oo% .. So less than one week massive improvement. After taking steroids orally and topically... And keflex... And another antibiotic.... bleach baths and oatmeal baths.

When I was growing up whenever we kids got ringworm our mom or grandmother, whoever we were around at the time, would break off a leaf from a fig tree and apply the milky sap coming from the stem of the leaf to the lesion which would cause a temporary mild increase in the itching and it would be reapplied once or twice a day until the lesion dissapeared in a few days. Of course this only works during the part of the year when the fig trees have leaves on them. These are the kind of fig trees that have the edible fruit on them.

I promised I would do this if this site helped and it did. I was desperate because I had ringworm on my inner thigh that soon encroached on to my testicles, so I used a few methods from this site. Try and see what works for you, but this is what worked for me. 1) Shower (if in a less aggressive area forearm for instantce maybe you just wash your arm off in the tub or sink. 2) ACV(apple cider vinegar) - apply with cotton ball and rub in a circular motion until it bleeds. Do this for the first 1-3 days

3) Absortine Jr - apply with cotton ball (don't rub just dab and hold until the pain sensation is totally gone or until you reach your threshold)

4) Tea Tree Oil - apply with q-tip (don't rub just dab the area until you see the shine/wet look)

5) Gold Bond Triple Action Relief(extra strength) - apply after air or blow dry

Tips
-Shower or wash area if possible before every treatment. (if I couldn't shower I would use a baby wipe with a dash of ACV on it) four times a day. -Repeat all steps for first 1-3 days when your ready to discontinue ACV dose do so, but continue all other steps. Other Key Points

-The sooner you attack the easier it will be to kill this fungal rash
-Your skin will be discolored (dark/grey/black)

The Absorbine is the arthritis rub. However, when you read the side of the box it does say it is for athletes foot/ringworm.

Absorbine is a menthol pain reliever and it helps ring worm. So people please dont look for Absorbine Jr for Ringworm. It is the pain reliever that works.

Mataravj, I believe you may be wrong about not using Absorbine Jr. It says directly on the label it is meant to treat fungal infections such as jock itch or athletes foot. So I would definitely get Absorbine Jr over the arthritis treatment...

The new Formula (Absorbine Plus Jr) does not say on the label it is meant to treat fungal infections such as jock itch or athletes foot. It does say for arthritis in the list. My local research tells me that the original formula is only online and the new formula PLUS is in all the stores. The original formula has all the same ingredients except a lower Menthol 1.27% vs 4% and the original has absinthium oil (Wormwood) as a main ingredient which the Plus formula has taken out.

Wormwood is an ingredient listed on the Absorbine Plus. Just purchased it from cvs today.

I had some kind of fungal infection, which might have been jock itch. I read women can get it too. The itching was just awful, night and day, and my skin was getting gray and hard. I tried everything to get rid of it, from hydrogen peroxide, rubbing alcohol, and Pau D'Arco to athlete's foot creams from the store. Tea trea oil seemed to work great at first, because it made my skin peel off, but in the end it just drove the infection deeper and the itching began to get worse. Sleep deprivation and not having time to shower also made it noticeably worse. Then I started showering every day and spraying on Apple Cider Vinegar and getting enough sleep, and it started to get a little better. Then I saw, here on Earth Clinic, about Absorbine. I had to order it, because my CVS didn't have it. Absorbine Jr. is an absolute miracle!! Complete relief from the itching--I cannot explain how good it feels to have no itching for the first time in a long, long time. And now my skin is healing, and I can go longer without applying it. so i had a scaly sore on my back for atleast 2 weeks, not itchy just scaly, went to doc's said i had ringworm...now it spread. i have a few maybe 9 small (dot to dime size) red patches between my back and torso (still not very itchy). so far i dont think the perscribed fungal cream helps, so im trying ACV and vapor rub. ill respond in a few days to tell of my progress (lets hope theres some!)

I have found that black walnut tincture clears up ringworm. My son had a bad case around Christmas time. Nothing was working so I tried the tincture. Put it on with a cotton ball twice a day and in less than two weeks,no more ringworm. I also used it on a spot on my leg that I got from working in the garden,gone in about a week. It does stain,but can also be taken internally or used externally in case of systemic infection. I got my tincture at the local health food store for about $10. A little goes a long way so it was really economical. This is a safe remedy,even on children. Also, I cut out sugar and most starches,ate garlic,tumeric,cayenne and had a cup of hot water with lemon juice every morning. Hope this helps.Pam

My "rash" started out on my left foot in 2003 after spending time in a dorm setting. Later, I got the same looking rash underneath my watch band. I have been to numerous doctors for this "rash". One told me it was because of my watch band & sweating so I quit wearing the watch for a long time, but it didn't clear up any. last summer it took me 3 months to get rid of my ringworm....tried everything - i had 7 spots on my arm. This year i have gotten a large spot on the palm of my hand. I am still battling ringworm, but to cure the itching I took the coldest shower I could bare and stayed in the shower for 3-4 minutes. The itching stopped immediately and has not returned.

Absorbine Jr. Worked for me when all other remedies failed. I was dealing with ringworm on my thigh for over a month. Tinactin, and all other OTC anti fungal cures proved totally ineffective.

My girlfriend got me started on lavendar oil, but that did not seem to work either. This website showed absorbine Jr. as a possible cure so I drove over to CVS and picked some up.

Jock itch cream will get rid of ringworm. Just apply cream on ringworm 2 or 3 times a day and about 2 or 3 days ringworm is gone.

I know this sound crazy but bleach kills the bug instantly. Take a Q-tip and swab it down with bleach, it burns just a bit letting you know the bug is being killed. Cort-aid helps the itching, as it will still itch for a bit.

Cured1 from Zion, IL you are exactly right. Dab a cotton ball in some bleach and apply it to your ringworm twice a day and in about 2 days you will see your ringworm start to go away. The only thing is you have to continue applying it to the same area for about 2 wks because ringworm WILL come back if you stop the treatment too soon.

This thing worked in two days. I applied some on a Wed night and continued periodically applying until Thurs night. Friday morning, after my shower, the dark brown spots on my face pealed off, leaving a light pink skin underneath. I didn't apply on Fri. or Sat. because I didnt want it to get dark again and I had to go to a wedding. But by Sunday morning the pink area was gone and I had no flakes or itching. I can't say for sure if it was ringworm of psoriasis or something else but Absorbine cured it in less than 2 days. I love this site. I hope this helps others who find themselves desparate for a cure. I have been dealing with a skin condition since last October, it went crazy 10 days after I had some amalgm filling removed. At first it was not ring shaped just large crusty lesions that were itchy, raised patches of red skin. It quickly spread from one leg to the other then both my arms. It finally came up round and ringed in a few places then I knew it was ringworm. I finally read on Earth Clinic about the Absorbine treatment, yea finally it is starting to dry up. I have used it for several days, three times a day. My skin seems to be cracking open some and I am concerned. I put natural lotions on and it does itch some for a while them calms down. Does anyone have an idea what I can use to moisturize my skin that won't start up the ringworm again. Does anyone have scarring for the lesions? I am worried about this. I tried Aloe Vera gel and that was a huge mistake, I was in great pain for about 18hrs, untill I went to the store for Absorbine Jr.

My cat had ring worm soon me and my kids had it. Gentian Violet cured all within a week and there was no burning. apply daily. It is messy. No odor and will stain. BUT as a rancher I use it on my animals as well as my kids. and THERE IS NO PAIN. follow up with coritizone or anti itch and that should take care of it. Tip a q tip in and rub on it and then get a new one to rub the violet around it.

Hi, I think that vinegar works - white vinegar so the sugars are low. you dont want the sugars to feed the fungus.. also consider what is on the inside that is trying to come out.. the fungus.. this area of your body and so forth. use the vinegar as many times as day as you are able. dont think that just becuase the skin softens that its dead .. use it till its completely gone and afterwards. I also suggest to sun the ringworm. meaning go out in the sun and let the sunshine help to heal and dry and air it. something like that..
