Just wanted to share with anyone out there struggling with this seriously irritating fungus, ie ringworm. I'm currently battling it. It for some reason has returned on the same finger for the third time. It has come in 14,2 and 2 year intervals. So the first two times I used nystatin that I got from the Dr. This time the nystatin didn't stop it. This time instead of a circle shaped rash I got one dot rash that every time I'd wet my hand, would spread to the skin nearby. I'd get more itchy dots-singular isolated bumps that didn't make a full circle but sometimes a curved trail of contiguous bumps. It felt and acted like ringworm but the ointment didn't seem to knock it back like before.

This time, after much prayer, I turned to essential oils. I used undiluted drops of turmeric essential oil which slowed it down, and lemon essential oil and geranium eo which helped to shrink down the rash, followed by unrefined coconut oil which also helped to keep back new spreading but upon washing my hand or bathing it would spread again. These oils were good but could not totally knock it down. I did all I could to keep it dry and to quickly dry it and reapply the oils but I was losing this battle because it was still spreading a little everyday on my finger.

Then I read about Oil of Oregano's use against ringworm in animals and thought to try it since I always keep a bottle of it in the house. There I found a most powerful tool against this severely irritating foe. Oil of Oregano knocked this fungus out like David did to Goliath. Bam! The first application of the Oil of Oregano caused immediate results! The raised rash deflated, the angry itch died hope was regained. Sure it burned and yeah the cracked skin oozed but the most importantly the beast is either dead or dying. No itch at all now. The skin on my finger was damaged by the ringworm so the color is dark and the surface is rough and flaky. Large dead pieces of skin were able to be removed yeah, it wasn't pretty...but time and the body's natural healing mechanisms will have to be depended on to regain full normalcy of the skin and that is fine by me. I'm patient and very ever so thankful and grateful that I tried the oil of oregano. It is for me a total game changer.

Oregano Oil can be taken internally. I usually take a few drops by mouth with water already in my mouth to avoid the burn from this potent oil. Once I took it by mouth during flu season to avoid sickness and it has kept me well when everyone in the house including my nursing baby was sick a few years ago. Thankfully it even helped the nursing baby to more quickly overcome her cold symptoms and she was most mildly affected than the other children. It's also good for stopping the pain caused by crohn's.

One of my family members took it during a bout with pain caused by an intestinal ulcer and within minutes felt no pain to our great surprise and relief. I suggest keeping this precious oil in your home and looking deeply into how it can help you and those for whom you have influence.

I had a ringworm on my left thumb that was super itchy. I tried apple cider vinegar for a few days & it was working, but not as fast as I wanted it to work. It stopped the itch, but an hour later the itch would come back with a vengeance. I heard about "Oregano Oil" so I grabbed a band-aid & I applied 3-4 drops of oregano oil to the band-aid and I placed the ban-aid on the ringworm. I would do this in the morning & I would leave the band-aid on for 6-8 hours a day and in the evening I would remove the band-aid & re-apply a new one with 3-4 drops of "Oregano Oil" again. I did this for 3 days & the ringworm went away.

(**WARNING** It will burn your skin a little bit, but it actually felt good because of the itch.)

My family has effectively killed a ringworm "outbreak" in our home in just a few days by applying oil of oregano topically as well as ingesting it 3 times per day. Apply with a cotton ball to the affected area, and ingest three to four drops at a time mixed in a little water or juice.

I had a tiny incidence of ringworm on the top of my foot last summer and applied Oil of Oregano to it 3 or 4 times a day. I also put about 10 drops in a shotglass with water and threw it back (and chased it with juice). It's so powerful I just wanted to get it over with! My foot cleared up within 2 or 3 days.

Your comment is amazing. I see no other recommendation that even comes close to this. You can drink the essential oil? I know this oil is powerful and you apply it directly to your skin undiluted?

Re the question of applying oregano oil directly to skin. I've only used infused oregano oil topically and by mouth... Meaning I use a carrier oil like olive oil etc and dilute with that. Hope that helps! Katy

Hi Margaret, Thought I would let you know our nurse practitioner told me I could use the OTC miconazole cream when our daughter picked up ringworm at a public swimming pool. It worked.

Hello Margaret,

Re "ringworm"....

The OTC suggestion is good...I've used Lamisil very successfully.

I have used Lotrimin many times for Athlete's Foot and recently Ringworm. It could possibly be that all the time that I had athlete's foot, it could have actually been ringworm. I've recently been battling ringworm. (twice within the last 6 months or so) I think that last time I just hadn't applied long enough. It was gone within a couple of weeks, but when it disappeared, I quit treatment. I have used it just as the directions explain, once in the morning and once in the evening. I really didn't wash the infected area every time and it still worked well.

I had some problems with ringworm and found that Absorbine Junior worked within one day - I applied it and put a cotton boll over with tape, let it stay for a while. I have had no recurrence and that was 3 months ago.

Ozonated Olive Oil for Ringworm/Tinea

I have had ringworm on my back for a few years and this past winter it exploded. The topical creams from my doctor stopped working. Finally went to see my naturopath and she put me on an anti-fungal protocol for a month. And she gave me ozonated olive oil to use topically. I use that twice a day and the marks have almost completely disappeared in 10 days. It smells strong (kind of rancid - but it's the ozone) but it works amazingly well. This is the one I have. https://www.shaughnessypharmacy.com/products/ozonated-olive-oil

Keep it refrigerated to keep it potent. Wear an old t-shirt while sleeping so you protect your bedding. Multiple thin applications are better than one thick one.

I have tried everything for this and am blown away by the effectiveness of the ozone. I hope it helps others.

I have had ringworm all my life. It only happens when the outside temperature drop below 60. When I went on the Paleo diet for 30 days my ringworm when away. I also use black cumin seed oil. It takes the itching away very fast and dries it up. But it will come back. But as long as I eat paleo the ringworm stays away. Basically eating fresh is very easy and I never felt better.

When I was a child I would get ringworm all the time. My grandmother would take a piece of paper burn it on a plate. when the paper was completly burnt she would blow off the ashes then use the residue left on the plate to rub over the ringworm. This would suffucate the ringworm and within days the ringworm was gone with no permanent scars.

Ringworm was treated with ashes from burned paper and/or hard wood ashes from the fire place, both seemed to work very good and fast. Rub on morning and night and every time we thought about it in between. It also worked on our cats, we put it on their skin and their bedding.

Pennies in ACV remedy:

I tried this the last time I got ringworm and it didn't work at ALL! Not only that, it burned my skin horribly and made it worse. Wish I'd never tried it. And I am not ACV sensitive, by the way. What finally cleared it up was simple OTC athlete's foot cream. You can find it at most dollar stores and all pharmacies. Gone in 4 days, no pain, no scars.

The best way to get rid of ringworm is to take a few old pennies and place in a cup with about 5 tablespoons of apple cider vinager. let age for a day or two and rub directly on the ring worm. it will normally burn. but will work. i had ring worm so bad that it was larger than the size of a fifty cent piece. it had completely ate away all of my skin and itched terribly. it works. i have used this remedy for over 25 years, and it is yet not to work.

Cured within 2 days using pennies soaked in apple cider vinegar, used solution on it twice a day and then covered with teatree oil. These remedies worked wonderfully, and I caught it in time before it spread.

Saying that fungus doesn't survive in a pH level of 6.5 and higher is wrong because the normal range for human bodies is between 7.2 - 7.4. Taking that into consideration, it should mean that no fungus should grow in a body with a normal pH balance of 7.2, but it does.

RC,,,,,,, ORH here, and years ago when I could not cure a ringworm with over the counter stuff, a friend told me to dice the hull of a green walnut until moist and then wipe it on the ringworm. Wahla, it healed. I do not know the compound in a Walnut tree, but nothing grows around them. I had to cut one down next to my garden because the nearby veggies would not grow. Nature has a cure for most ails. Just ask the Native American Medicine men. With modern medicine, we are not living longer, we are just not dying as soon. ====ORH====

I had a severe case of ringworm in 1959 when I was in the army. They gave me big pills of potassium permanganate. In the evening I dissolved one pill in water and soaked my feet in it for about 10 minutes. I did it every day, once a day, and it took less than 2 weeks to kill the ringworm--totally healed. It has never bothered me since.
