It works set fire to my hand while trying to refill a BBQ lighter. In agony. Every time I took my hand out of cold water. After an hour if trying to make it stop hurting and out of desperation I applied petroleum jelly and foil. It got worse at first but then stopped! My husband thinks it is very funny that I'm sitting with a tin foil glove but I don't care I'm just glad it's stopped!

Accidentally placed my hand on hot element today, not realizing my sister had turned on the stove.. Immediately put it under cold water for about 10 minutes and then resorted to applying toothpaste on my 3 burnt fingers. This worked for about 15 minutes, until the pain came back and I had rinse it off and reapply. By the third time I got fed up and decided to ice it. 5 icecubes later (2 or so hours), I thought the pain had gone away. Little did I know that within two minutes of taking off the ice, the pain would be back, worse than ever. I thought maybe I got frostbite I went oand began to panic. Went on the google and landed on this page. I must say I was relieved to find out that people had the same reaction to ice I did. However, I remained skeptical about the aluminum foil. After reading what was probably 30 comments, I decided to give it a try. The pain got worse for about 5 minutes but it is now completely gone! How have I never heard about this remedy before? Thanks for posting your stories everyone! THIS WORKS!!!

I have to admit even after reading others testimonies about aluminum foil for a burn I was still skeptical, but like the others who posted I was desperate for some relief. After ice for 2 hours I started looking on the web for relief because as soon as I stopped icing the pain returned within seconds. I had burnt my finger on a fuse in my truck that I tried to wiggle because my power windows wouldn't roll up. It instantly left a white square layer of burnt skin on my finger. Anyway I found this website, slathered on a huge amount of aloe, wrapped my fingerip in foil. The burning continued so I would occasionally lay my finger on a damp wssh cloth to stop the pain. Now maybe 20 minutes or so later, I haven't used the washcloth to stop the pain and can barely feel the burn anymore. AMAZING!! TY SO MUCH TO THOSE OF U WHO POSTED ABOUT THIS!!

After discovering Earth Clinic and sharing all the wonderful remedies I was reading about, I thought perhaps did I create this to test out one of them? LOL! So I'm cooking and forget to put my mitts on when taking a ceramic pot out of the oven (which I use on the stove and never use the mitts)! Anyway, my palm was bright red and hurt badly. I read on Earth Clinic about using the shiny part of the foil to dissipate the pain and putting on aloe vera gel so I immediately put both on and wrapped it like a mitt - and voila, the pain disappeared - and I totally forgot about it all day. A day or two later, there was no evidence of the burn! Thank you to Earth Clinic and everybody who writes in to share their incredible stories of healing!

Aluminum foil for burns:
Truthfully, I did not think this would work. I did it out of desperation. I tried ice for 3 hours, Aloe, Apple cider vinegar, more ice, and then more Aloe. I was still in pain and the stinging would not go away. I burnt myself cooking when I lifted a lid to boiling hot liquid. My hands were red, swollen and blistered. I put the foil on for 12 min. Before the sting started to go away. I plan to leave it for 45 min. Total. Not sure why but it works!

I burned my arm from my wrist to my shoulder. While holding it under cold water, I came to this site to find out what I could do for my pain. After several hours of back and forth to the sink and reading all the "YEAS" to aluminum foil, (in desperiation for relief) I wrapped my whole arm and waited. IT WORKED!!! Ten min passed, I was uncomfortable, 20 min passed... I was determined to wait it out, then 30 min to 1 hour.... I was smiling. I left it wrapped for 3 hours. I did remove it before going to bed. I haven't experienced any pain at all! I am so thankful for all of you! THANK YOU! #forevergrateful

Aluminum foil and aloe for burns: I'm still in shock that this actually works. Every mother's worst nightmare is having to watch your child suffer and not being able to do anything about it. My son who is 8 was roasting marshmallows, and in his excitement grabbed the metal end instead of the marshmallow. He has really bad burns on his thumb and pointer finger. It was charred black, and what wasn't black is raised white blistering. After 20 minutes of cold running water, he would scream every time the water wasn't running on it. I found this website and tried the toothpaste idea. BAD IDEA!!! He screamed like he was being tortured and his crying got even worse. I didn't have a fresh aloe plant, but had a bottle if the green colored aloe gel. This only helped for 5-10 seconds before he'd cry and want more. At that rate I would be applying gel all night and he would never be able to sleep. After traumatizing him with the toothpaste he was unwilling to try anything else, but I read some of the foil testimony to him and he was willing to try it if I put a squirt of aloe in the foil before I wrapped his fingers. He didn't like it at first but there was no screaming. I reminded him everyone said it took a few minutes to work. He wiggled and whined for a few minutes and got very quiet. He asked for a drink and in the 60 seconds it took me to leave the room and get it, when I returned he had fallen asleep. It releaved the pain so well that he is now sleeping soundly with his little foil fingers. I am such a relieved mommy and might actually be able to sleep a little tonight if it continues to work!! Thank you, thank you, thank you Earth Clinic!!!!!!

Same as above post, was cooking steaks in a cast iron skillet and had just pulled them out of a 500 degree oven when I had a huge brain fart and grabbed the handle. Ummm, ya. Ouch. After slightly panicking and squirting mayo all over my hand to cool it which didn't help at all, I ran to the comp and this was the first site I saw. So after washing the goop off of it, I stuck my hand in cold water for about half an hour while I ate, then I wrapped it in aluminum foil with gauze over top of the foil. Another half-hour later my hand does not hurt at all, isn't pink, and I have no blisters! Yay for me :D Definitely works!

I was cooking some fish in a steel pan in the oven pulled it out and a minute later went to move it without an oven glove. The oven was set to 250 degrees celcius so I quickly put my palm under cold running water for about 5 minutes. I then took out the frozen peas and placed a dish towel around it and rested my palm on it for another 20 minutes. Then it was on to placing my palm in a bowl of cold water which I added a few cubes of ice in every 15 minutes or so for about 2 more hours. When I would take my hand out of the water the pain would soar within 5 seconds so I tried the foil.
I made myself a glove with the foil and held onto a cold can that was in the fridge I actually soon after went to sleep holding the can and when I woke up a few hours later the pain had disappeared. I put on some moisturisers and aloe vera and 24 hrs later it's great no blisters just a red mark of the pan handle which should be gone in a couple of days. I have had various kitchen burns and my best advice is leave it in cold water or place an ice pack wrapped in a cloth on it until the pain is gone when you take it off. It may take many hours but it's always worked for me.

My two year old daughter was playing on the bed in our camper with her sister and she had taken to turning the light on the headboard on and off. We didn't realize how easy the cover could be removed but she did remove it and touched the light bulb inside with her index finger. She almost instantly got a blister. I put aloe on it and blew on it and even tried ice for relief but those common methods were getting us nowhere, so I got on earthclinic for suggestions. First I tried the hand sanitizer... That helped but I was reapplying often. Then I tried toothpaste but it was about the same. So I put more aloe on and covered her finger with foil, or as I told her, a metal bandaid. Literally, within two minutes she was relaxed about it enough to go to sleep. This really works!

Absolutely do this - it works. My wife burnt her fingers on the element of the oven. The skin went brown and it was very painful. After about an hour of frozen peas and corn, And a lot of pain... I looked on line and found Earth clinic.
We applied the hand sanitiser first then decided to go with the aluminium foil after reading the excellent reviews and successes. We applied the aloe Vera oil, then covered each finger with foil, secured by sticky tape wrapped around the base to keep it on.
The pain on the second finger went away, the main burn the pain subsided dramatically. We removed it before bed. In the morning the brown burn was gone and it was no longer painful.
Today the burns are hardly noticeable ... We repeated the foil on the one finger today with the aloe Vera. I have a sports science background and would never have thought this was possible. They don't teach this at uni, , ,
It really does work - use the aloe and foil... :))

We are happy to add our happy, I-can't-believe-it-works story! My daughter touched a plate heated in the microwave. We went right to ice for the four fingers. After three hours two fingers had blisters and all four hurt badly. With bed time long past, we called the ER for advice--cold compresses, NO ICE! , and "silverdeen". Before going that route we searched the internet. THANKFULLY we found this site and we went with the most YEAS and tried the crazy aluminum foil. It's now 20 minutes later and... NO pain. There was initially no pain for about 30 seconds, then a wave of pain after about 5 minutes and then after about 5 more, the pain is gone. WHEW! We will sleep better tonight.

So my 1 yr old daughter just put her hands on the glass cover to the gas fire place. Yes, ... she burnt her hands. I instantly came online to see what I could find to take away the pain, because the ice was not helping. The first time she just pulled the foil off, but only after having them on for about 5 min.
I put the foil back on again and put kid socks over her hands so she could not pull. Well, ... She almost instantly stopped crying and fell asleep.
Totally works.

I wasn't thinking when I grabbed the handle of a pan that had recently come out of a 400F oven and I burned a good bit of my palm and parts of my fingers. The only thing I could think of was to get my hand in some egg whites (okay, I ended up smashing the egg open and put my hand in the white and yolk). That helped initially, but my family and I were heading out to a play in a few hours and I didn't see the theater looking kindly at my bowl of eggs.
I came to Earth Clinic, saw the aluminum foil remedy, and after reading the testimonials and fighting my doubts, I wrapped my hand in an aluminum foil mitt. At first it didn't do a whole lot, but I had read enough to know to wait.
It began to feel better. I took it off to adjust it, and the pain came back immediately. I hadn't realized how much the foil had been keeping the pain at bay! (I didn't do anything else for the pain. )
I re-wrapped it with foil, put some gauze over it to keep it in place, and more importantly, to prevent me from looking completely insane for wrapping my hand in aluminum foil, then left for the play.
When I returned home, not only was my hand not hurting, but the areas on my palm that had been red were no longer red. There is still the main burn part which hurts a little when I poke at it, but that's it. The parts of my fingers that were burned and NOT covered in aluminum are red and tender. A big YEA for aluminum foil!
