My girlfriend scorched her hand really bad from a pan which had come out of the oven. She ran cold water and used aloe vera gel, while cooling it with a covered ice wrap. It was fine, until she removed the ice wrap, as pain returned with a fury. I read the foil idea, and thought wow, this is crazy, but what the hell. She used it with great success and has had very little blistering. Great idea!!!!

Burned two of my fingertips by directly touching a hot baking element in the oven. The burn was deep and bright white; yellow mustard (a remedy that's always helped before) seemed to do nothing. Kept my hand in cold water for six hours, but every time I took it out it would hurt like crazy. Thought aluminum foil sounded like a silly idea, but finally got desperate enough to try it. 20 minutes later the pain was gone! It's 3 days later and the burn is *just* starting to blister but is still completely painless. (I'm baffled, really.)

Alumininum foil does ease the pain. Im typing with foil on my burt finger now. It is still stinging, but it is not as bad as what it first was. I have been soaking my finger in cold water for about an hour and 30 mins and couldn't take it out without it hurting and burning like mad. Ive had the foil on for about 15 mins. At first it does hurt badly... But if you stick with it, it gets better! Thanks. :)

Really wierd huh? About a month ago I was putting a log into my woodstove, and accidentally pushed the top of my thumb (right below the nail bed) into a very hot part of the interior of the stove.

I immediately said a few choice words to myself and then went to the kitchen and got out a piece of aluminum foil. I had been keeping this EC cure in the back of my mind, and now the time had come to try it.

It never hurt at all! I have done this exact same burn in the past, (darned woodstove! ) and it should have started throbbing within a few mins, but it never did! I kept the foil on for about an hour or so.

Here it is a month later, and I still have a pink line below my thumbnail to show for it. It was a deep burn, and the foil really, really worked.

Thanks Earth Clinic and EC posters!

It works! I burnt my right index finger on hot glue in art class, my fingertip turned all red and it hurt so badly! I thought it'd get better after awhile, but after crying through lunch, I knew something was wrong. So I was going to put some burn cream on my finger so I could do my homework on the computer, but my brother was in the shower. I was desperate for help, and googled how to help a burn. I found the aluminum foil remidy, and was VERY skeptical, but I figured I couldn't get any worse, so I tried it and it works! It's nuts! I'm sooooo glad I found this! :D

I wouldn't have believed it if I hadn't tried it myself! Having a blonde moment I grabbed a cast iron grate after boiling hot water! Blisters were there immediately! I kept my hand in cold water for a few hours until I found this sight and thought what would it hurt to try! AMAZING!!! Like people said it took about ten min of pushing through the pain and then it was gone! I even went to the mall with the foil on my hand:)! I took it off a few hours later and my hand hasnt' hurt since... Most of the blisters are gone too, but the worst one I had!! I would def do and tell people about this again!

Same story as everyone else here. Touched a dish in oven at 425! Couldn't take may thumb out from under the running water for more than a couple of seconds without a lot of pain. Put the Al foil on. At first, no relief, hurt a bit worse. And, then at about 15 min. Total relief. I did try and take the foil off about an hour later and it began to hurt again. So, I put it back on. Immediate relief. So, I slept with it on. THANK YOU SO MUCH for the advice!! It works!

I stuck my finger right in a glob of hot glue and it hurt so badly I could only take it out of a cup of cool water for seconds without excruciating pain. Looks like an easy second degree burn with a big blister forming. Googled for help and found this great site. I cannot believe this aluminum foil wrapped around my finger has helped so much. Thank you Nova Scotia. The internet is so great

Please do not ever use aluminum foil on your skin ever again. This is very toxic as aluminum causes many disorders including dementia. The aluminum will absorb into your body easily. A better solution is to use coconut oil and oil of oregano together. This not only removes the pain instantly, but it actually heals the wound in a healthy way. Good luck. Sue

I thought you all were nuts but my thumb hurt so badly from touching the baking sheet about 2 hours ago that I couldn't take the ice pack away from it for more than 20 seconds without screaming pain coming back so I thought what the heck.. I had some foil in the kitchen and decided to go for it. The initial pain was very intense and I wanted to go back to the ice pack and wimp out but I did some heavy breathing and stuck through the pain. It's been about 10 minutes and while the pain is still there, it is now very dull and very tolerable. Thanks for the info. You made me a believer!!!

I accidentally poured some coffee on my hand at work. I wrapped some ice in a few paper towels and put that on my hand. It worked, but after an hour my hand was still hurting whenever the ice came off. It was really hard to work around the ice pack too, so I started looked for other remedies. Since I was at work I didn't have a lot of the stuff around, but we did have foil. At first it burned, but I saw someone say that that went away after 5 minutes and another said 10. After 15 it still stung. I put on another piece of foil so that no air was hitting the burn and presto! No more pain.

I have to say, I am shocked. Tonight my stupid self grabbed a glass cake pan that was around 350 degrees! I burnt myself pretty badly on my palm and fingers. I immediately ran cool tap water over the burn and then but an icepack with a washcloth around it on my hand. I ran to the internet in search of the best remedy. After I saw this page, I thought "why not? I have foil in the kitchen! " I will say, at first, it burned even worse when I initially but the foil on (luckily I saw that someone else had the same thing happen, so I stuck with it). However after several minutes, the burning sensation decreased and now, 4 hours later, I have no pain! The blisters are next to nothing, too! I amazed!

Aluminum foil worked! I burnt my thumb and fingers when I picked up a hot plate which had just come out of a really hot oven! The pain was intense - I immediately put my hand under a cold running tap and then kept it immersed in a bowl of cool water for the next 1 1/2 hours and each time I took it out after a few seconds the pain was still really bad. After looking on the internet I came across this site so wrapped tin foil around my thumb and my fingers. Initially the pain seemed to get worse and my hand got really hot - so much so that I thought I was going to have to plunge back in cold water - anyway I persevered and after about 10 mins the pain suddenly disappeared completely - I was amazed. I still kept the foil on for an hour or so just to be on the safe side and when I took it off I had no pain whatsoever (just a small blister). What a discovery!!

I burned the inside of my left hand when I grabbed the barrel of a rifle right after it had been shot. I could feel the skin burn, I was out in the desert with friends so I just grabbed a cold soda and held it, i swapped it out for a colder one every 30 mins for 2 hrs. I got home shortly after, grabbed a piece of aloe off my plant that i had and went to work, i used alot of it and it only worked a little for the pain, so logged online to find a pain remedy for a burn, I saw tin foil..My boss had some and about 5 mins after i wrapped my thumb with the foil, the pain went away, i left it on my thumb for about 2 hrs. i took it off when it got all sweaty..barely a mark no pain.my thumb is good to go!, this combo really works....

Yesterday I had the worst burn of my life! I was glad to find QUICK relief here! I was melting butter in my stainless steel pan/handle and forgot it was hot. Grabbed the handle and immediately I knew this was going to be bad! Ran cold water first and then got something cold in the freezer. My husband looked up the internet (he didn't know about Earthclinic) and said NOT to use ice or creams, just cold water. The pain was intense!! I didn't want to waste water so I still used stuff from the freezer and also laid my hand in a plate of cold water. It was my right hand. I couldn't do much for more than 30 seconds at a time w/out the pain coming back! I then went here and found the foil to be interesting! I tried it and lo and behold the pain went away in about 5 min just like they said! It was trying to blister...I also have a bunch of creams...I used Rescue Remedy. I have an ozonated olive oil and i finally found a sample of aloe vera w/some other vitamins. I put that on and wrapped the foil over that. I found that it trapped in some moisture. I was able to juice later that afternoon using my right hand to push the damper!! The next day its just red and no blisters!! Thanks for the info here! I told others today and they will keep it in mind for further reference! They were thankful!

Yeah! I was skeptical of this at first. I tried it & couldn't believe how well it works! I burned my finger serverly on steam (not bad enough to require medical attn., but still bad). I tried the cold water, vanilla, ointment...nothing really helped it out long term. So I searched the net & found this site. I thought I'd try the foil trick. Low & behold about 30 min. after I put it on, my finger was 100% better! I still have 2 spots that got it the worst that I'm still treating, but I can't believe the difference it made!!

I burned my hand while baking. Not thinking about it, I grabbed the very hot pan that just came out of the oven. It burned my palm. I apply cold water and ice packs to my hand for 10 hours and still the pain was extreme. So I looked up on the internet of what could help and came to this site. I read about wrapping the burned area in aluminum foil, and thought that it would not work. But tried it anyways, and about 5 minutes later, the pain was gone. I just couldnt believe it, so I wanted to share my story that I am now a believer with the aluminum foil and burns.

Today I got a second degree burn (immediate blistering) on my finger when I accidentally touched the heating element in my oven. I immediately wrapped it in aluminum foil (no cold water rinse - our water takes forever to get even semi-cold). I kept the foil on for a couple of hours. Then I applied raw honey and a band-aid. There were moments here and there when it hurt a bit during the first couple hours, but hardly at all. After I put the honey on, I don't remember any more pain. Kept the honey on for a couple hours. There is still a blister, but no pain.

Yea, for aluminum foil for burns. While I was cooking tonight I got a pretty bad steam burn. After running it under cold water and having ice pack on it for a while, I wasn't getting any relief. I jumped on this site and came across the aluminum foil cure for burns, and by golly gee wilikers, it worked! I had it on for 15 minutes. Just took the aluminum off 5 minutes ago, and I can say absolutely, I feel no pain. Yea!!!!!

In response to the "nay" for aluminum foil... a little science (and actually trying it) will go a long way to believing it. First of all, aluminum is an excellent conductor of heat, so when you put it against something hot, it will conduct any heat from the point of contact until it can't hold anymore thermal energy, or the stored energy dissapates into a cooler mass (usually air) so more can be conducted from the heat source. For the same scientific reasons, it also transfers cold equally as well (cold is simply the lack of heat). A basic burn injury actually dissapates alot of its heat before any treatment is actually given anyway, provided the source of the burn is removed (i.e. hot oil, steam, hot metal conductor, etc). The internal body temperature agitates the burn causing more pain that lasts even after cooling it off under cold water (NOT TO BE DONE TO EXTENSIVE BURNS). In short, the foil acts as a conductor of your body heat, alleviating pain due to added warmth on the burn. It works quite well. For extensive burns, seek professional help, preferably from a specialized burn center over a general hospital.

In response to the aluminum foil and burns... I do not recommend trying this at all!! When you put aluminum over anything hot, it traps the heat inside and continues to cook... Why would you do that to any part of your body!!?? This is a big NAY from me...

i had badly cut my hand and the nurse said its a bad friction burn and i'd have to take painkillers, i did that but the pain still remained. so i looked up how to stop it from scarring and hurting, not help at all.. then i found this site. The aluminum foil really helped, i used the non shiney side of it and it stung from the pressure on the burn, after 10 mins there was no pain at all, it will scar [ but thats because of how severe it is ] atleast it doesn't hurt though, thanks xx [ i'm 17, have to live with it forever! ]
