I have been taking NSAIDs for almost 20 years--couldn't work without them.

My new chiropractor suggested 1 tsp apple cider vinegar in 16 oz of water 3x a day. Why have I not tried this before?

THE APPLE CIDER VINEGAR HAS TO BE FRESH--THE KIND YOU SHAKE UP WITH SEDIMENTS AT BOTTOM--not the strained kind you get in the vinegar section of the grocery store (yuk!)--in order to have the best effect. The organic ACV is quite sweet, and I don't need honey to sweeten it. I actually like the taste.

I mix up a big 64 oz drink with 1 TBL of ACV in it and drink it throughout the day in a big insulated cup.

My arthritis is feeling much better. I have days I forget to take my daily NSAID. I'm thinking more clearly, and since the pain and inflammatory pressure are lifting, my mood is improving as well.

I can't wait to try some of the other things mentioned here. Thank you so much for this site!

ACV is a miracle, have stopped taking medication for nerve pain in legs, and for acid reflux. Arthritis is not a problem anymore, and have lost 25 lbs in 8 week. I feel 20 years younger, and will be on ACV for the rest of my life.

Try using a straw, it helps greatly. Also consume plenty of liposoluble vitamins and try approaching intermittent fasting and oil pulling, you will then be able to get down the Apple Cider Vinegar without issues.

I have RA and have kept it at bay very successfully for 20 years primarily with an ACV and honey drink (water, 1 tbls acv, 1 tbls honey). I also avoid my trigger foods (for me are Citric acid and red meat) but if I feel any achiness at all coming on its back to my ACV and honey drink for a few days and I am good.

In 1991 I had a cortisone injection in my I would need another every 6 months and would eventually need an operation. Having read Dr Jarvis's cider vinegar book, I drank daily about 500ml of mixture (1 tsp honey, 2 tspns cider vinegar to a glass or cup of water). Although it had no immediate effect, I continued to take it for general health reasons, but after 2-3 months, suddenly realised that I had no pain in hand/wrist. Despite having lazily ceased this practice, I still have no trouble in the hand. Perhaps my recent right hip replacement would not have been necessary had I continued treatment. I have now resumed the habit, making up a litre jug of mixture and drinking it frequently, in hopes of preventing the need for a left hip replacement as some signs of wear are apparent. I am convinced of the benefits, but warn people that it is not a short term fix. On the other hand, 15 years of no pain suggests that it is has a long-term effect. Go for it!

I am a huge proponent of RAW apple cider vinegar. My husband and I have been using it three times daily for about five weeks. He no longer has the joint stiffness and pain associated with arthritis. We did quit using all sugar and white processed flour as well.

I was taking it in a shot glass all week and did notice some sensitivity in my teeth! I will be drinking it in water from now on or brushing my teeth after.

Renee, they say not to brush teeth until a half hour after ingesting the acid food or drink, but yes to rinse your mouth. Brushing while the acid is still there, might erode the enamel of the teeth.

Yes, I got that a bit wrong! I've read up on Boron/Borax sites now too and have adjusted the amount of borax to that what clings to a wet fingertip.

If the lumps on my fingers continue to recede at this rate I will be able able to report "CURED! " soon.

Right Hand can close properly already with all 4 fingers almost straight, bending properly and touching the palm. Can use it properly now, no pain when using it.

Left hand ring finger was always unafflicted, pinky still skew but almost no swelling of the joints and already touching the palm, this is the only finger where both joints were afflicted. Index finger still skew with fairly swollen joint and not close to touching palm, middle finger was worst, still skew, joint still huge but protruding hump almost gone, still not bending much but getting better daily.

Looking forward to adding the MSM to the brew.

Hi sharon. I actualy cut the ginger into thin slices about a inch by half inch cube.. Chop some garlic like two to three cloves and give them a quick stir fry in a wok... Then push it over to one side and fry some organic bread untill its crispy.. Im using grapeseed oil... Then flip the bread out and put the garlic and ginger on top... Then the cayenne gets pressed into the corner of the bread, and a bit of tumeric on top of the cvayenne... I fry an egg and pop this on top. I eat the corner with the cayenne and tumeric first. The Oil takes most of the heat out.. And then just finish the rest off... Ive been doing this everyday now for months, about noon.. And for some reason have not got tired of it. By sweating the Garlic in the wok a bit, you can eat more as its not raw. It certainly settled the back issue. But it compliments eveything, its the ACV and Honey that initialy clear the sinuses.

Hi, I'm a newcomer to Earth Clinic, and have a question for Gavin from Manganui, Northland, New Zealand. I've had osteoarthritis on my knees and lower back for some years, and recently seemed to have also developed rheumatoid arthritis in my knees and fingers. Could you please please post the details of the remedies that you use such that you are able to move two tons of wood without pain? Thanks so very much.

Sonja

I think it was about a week on cayenne, Turmeric and ginger, before I noticed that the lower back was pain free... But I take a swig of MSM. In the evenings and a dollop of honey and apple cider vinegar mornings and evenings. I started that for sinus headaches and they stopped immiediatly. I take 3mgs of boron and a kelp tablet everday. I tried a course of haluronic acid, like a month without problems then it seemed that old bone injuries were playing up, so I stopped it and in a couple of days they stopped playing up. I also have a couple of raw cloves of garlic, everday. And three capsules of fish oil. Plus a popular multi vitamin for over fifties. If all this sounds a bit much its just to cover all the bases. I dont ache any more and I have no lines or wrinkles. I'm going on 65 and feel better then I did at fifty. I'm sure the main problem was not getting essential elements.. The Mrs has slightly deformed joints wrist and foot. , but shes on basicly the same as me but hasnt had a flair up for a long time.

There's a type two collagen product they make in Canada it was reported in the prestigious science magazine Nature, that is made from chicken breast cartilidge.. It seems the nearest thing for a cure to the condition, as the trials were very positive, any review in "Nature" is subject to rigourous assesment.. In a double blind all on the chicken supplement were virtually cured.. All on the placebo showed no change.. I've ordered some from the manufacturers for the mrs.. Its called NU JOINT (sorry ec) if anyones interested.. Its either that or process your own chicken breasts.. I hope this helps.

Try ACV with Baking soda.... 2TBS apple cider vinegar with 1/2 teaspoon of baking soda with 6 oz of water. This will help remove the acidity of the vinegar with the same effective cure of the apple cider vinegar.

Paul posted a while ago but no one pointed out that the US tablespoon is the equivalent of the British dessertspoon which is probably the cause of the wife's heartburn. Two caps full in 8 ounces of water is good - or to taste. If honey is used it should be dissolved in warm water only as hot will destroy the beneficial enzymes.

I take 1 tablespoon in a glass of water with 1 tablespoon honey and a pinch of baking soda, either first thing in the morning, or after my tea and before eating. If I am in a hurry I just use the vinegar and water.

I have long used shots of ACV for painful arthritis in my thumbs, however today read about someone using it for sinus infections. I seldom get these anymore since I saline cleanse my nose every day but I have one now and just took a shot. We'll see (not enough time has gone by to comment on this yet). Also, unlike some folks I just drink it straight (kind of plug your nose first so you don't cough). Drink some water and voila!

Elyn, if the drinking of ACV (the contact w/ teeth) is your problem, there is available ACV in tablet form (the form I use). From my history of painful teeth, it was almost always a vit-D/Calcium deficiency. I've never tried it, but there is a growing need and awareness for the mineral Strontium, which is also important for bones and teeth. Also, vit-C is also critical for strong bones and teeth. Also, Oil Pulling might help regulate mineral balance in your body. Hope this helps. Good luck!

I have been suffering from partial bowel obstruction from adhesions due to a liposuction that went bad back in the 90's. I have suffered from severe pain, nausea and hemerroids due to the inability to fully cleanse myself out because of the blockage. This has been on going for the past 5 years. I would have an "episode" at least once a week, sometimes 2 and 3 times a week. The pain was unbearable and would literally take my breath away. Since I started taking one shot of ACV daily I have yet to have an "episode". I now have the best movements in years! I am completely amazed! Also, I suffer or should I say used to suffer from arthritis in my hips. I have absolutely no pain at all now and I know it is from the ACV because I haven't done anything else to remedy. I wish someone would have told me about this a long time ago. It is the simpliest thing in the world to do and it is all natural! God Bless Apple Cider Vinegar! If you haven't tried it, YOU SHOULD! Also, my complexion is glowing!

I just wanted to say I am truly amazed how ACV works for arthritis. I have little to no joint pain, since I have started taken the ACV cocktail, for two months now. I took pain medicine for years, with not half the benefit of ACV. Thanks so much for your site. It is a blessing. 1/4 cup acv 2oz of cranberry juice 8oz water. Two times a day.If it is to tart add some honey or apple juice it really is refreshing to drink. It really works...Good luck..

I have arthritis of the spine and a friend of mine gave me a recipe with apple juice, grape juice and Apple Cider Vinegar. I have been taking a 1/2 cup daily for about a month and I know that it is helping me tremendously. I can get out of bed in the mornings without having to stand still for a few seconds. It has also helped me curb my appetite.

I suffer from chronic arthritis of the ankle due to a serious injury several years ago. There is no cartilage left between my joint according to my X-rays. After being prescribed Celebrex I was concerned about finding out later that it caused adverse side affects like Vioxx. After hearing from a friend about the healing affects of ACV, I went cold turkey off Celebrex and began using ACV. I had been taking Celebrex for about two months and I thought that once I stopped the drug I would be in extreme pain. After two weeks of using ACV only, there is very little pain or swelling any more. I will continue to use ACV for other ailments as well.

Get the incredible book "Pain Free" by Pete Egoscue. Your STRIDE may be the cause of joint pain. I walk pronate on one foot, supination on the other due to polio surgery. I found WEDGES, for the heel and they seem to help. I believe the solution is found by examining the movement of the body. With the book: look in the index for the MANY solutions to many issues, including migraines--then share with your friends. Good Luck!

Hi can I suggest that you start taking MSM.. As well I'll post shortly with regards to my wife's battle with RA. It seems that after taking it for a few days it compilments all the other stuff and the various conditions improve exponentialy. Just about every modern food has had this essential ingredient removed, The science on the Calcium and potasium cycle is reasonably well known but the Sulphur cycle appears to be missed until recently. Unfortunately, modern man might in the future have to supplement this.

Thanks for the information. I had to look up MSM first, I had no idea what it was. This weekend I will have a look what brands are available at the chemist.

I am wondering if the teaspoon borax a day is a bit much? I have headaches the last 3 days and also often feel nauseous. It is not conditions that I normally get.

EC: WARNING!

The borax dosage, as posted multiple times on this site, is NO MORE THAN 1/8th - 1/4th of a teaspoon of borax in at least 1 liter of water a day, sipped throughout the day.

PLEASE STOP THIS REMEDY IMMEDIATELY!

CRIPES!!!!! Just lick your finger shove it into the Borax and swirl it around in an 8oz grlass of water.. Thats the rule of thumb amount. What your taking is heading for toxicity.

Sounds great Gavin! Keep up the good work! I wonder why it is so hard for people to try the natural cures instead of all the chemicals that they gladly swallow at huge costs?

My dad was a great "home doctor", he had a remedy for every ailment. He had a concoction for burns that worked so well. Wish I could get the recipe somewhere. It was yellowish and a bit oily. I know there was lime in it. It was either slaked lime or agricultural lime. (don't know if my translation to english is correct) When my mom wanted to make some more years after my dad passed on she was told that she can't buy/use it as it is toxic.

Hi,

Try diluting the ACV in more water, I too have RA and found that it gave me heartburn too, so I put the 3 tablespoons of ACV in 500ml water (I use a water bottle for the gym) and add it to the 6 or so glasses of water that I drink throughout the day. Hope this helps.

Apple Cider Vinegar

Just an addenum.. If the diet is low on Boron, its most likely low in all the other essential elements as well. So shes taking C..... N multivitamins as well. Plus glucosamine and Chondritin. Oh and three salmon oil capsules a day. The information ive read suggest that if your under sixty it takes a month to show improvement and if over a couple of months.

I've been reading all the posts about ACV. It sounds great and I would like to try it for arthritis. The only problem is that I am allergic to apples so I cannot have ACV. Does anyone know if other types of vinegar work? Or since the active ingredient is acetic acid do they sell acetic acid supplements and would they work???

I read about the properties of Cider Vinegar about 6 wks ago. I have Crohn's and after coming off an immunosuppressant some 18 months ago I developped a not uncommon side effect of Crohn's, flitting arthritis, quite intense, moving from joint to joint, generally in the wrists/hands, sometimes the feet, on a daily basis. I tried cider vinegar and after a few days I was virtually pain free for about a week, and then messed up the quantity required, and it came back. I have found that about 2 tbspns a day, spread through the day (with a slice of lemon and tspn of honey, generally 1 tbsn with a pint of hot water is a refreshing drink in the afternoon) and after a couple of days I was almost pain free (a vague awareness, not pain, of certain joints) and that has gone on now for over a week. I take 1 tspn in the morning with some lime juice and again 2 more lots of the same in the evening and just before bed

It also appears to be beneficial for the Crohn's, product/leaking.

Below that, even 1 tspn, the arthritis makes its presence felt, but much less so.

I have concerns about the acidity and the long term effect on teeth, so I am now trying it with some bicarb. I will report back.

Unfortunately it did not work on a wart on my finger, but then that has been resisting everything (surgery, freezing, caustic pencil, salicylic acid (3 yrs) duct tape) for the last 15 years.

I want to comment to HUGH from London, UK about FLITTING Arthritis, what exactly is this, it seems like what happens to me, this arthritis travels to almost every joint in my body, first the neck for a long time and for no reason left the neck and then in my left foot, I've had it in my thumb and shoulder. I wake and can hardly walk for the stiffness, I used to take ACV every morning mixed with garlic, then for some reason I stopped and I am riddled with stiffness and for the past week recovering from a flare up in my right elbow with so much pain, that the Etodolac was not helping so I took the pill every 6 hours for relief, so I'm back on the ACV a table spoon every morning, but after reading these testimonies I will drink it with honey three times daily..Thanks for this site it's great, but if you could explain more about flitting arthritis I would appreciate it.

Migratory arthritis is not usual for arthritis. One disease that causes it is Systemic Lupus. Do some research and if you think you have Lupus you will need a good rhuematologist. Good luck.
