I'm totally frustrated, as Turmeric does not seem to be helping. I was hopeful, but I've been taking the powder, 1 teaspoon, 2x per day, and I'm still dealing with one major boil, and several smaller ones, with new ones cropping up. For a long time I've been thinking it must be my immune system (i've been dealing with near constant boils for 20 months now...), but I was thinking about it today, and realized that in those 20 months I haven't had a single cold, flu, or even a sinus infection. You'd think if my immune system was not functioning properly, I would have had some other type of flu or virus over the near 2 year span. I'm so confused. (went to the ER with the first one...allergic reaction to first antibiotic, and then had Keflex but neither did anything. The first abscess finally cleared on it's own). Next I'll try sunlight therapy and another fast (i did an 11 day fast 2 months ago, began seeing a lot of success with that, but then my dad died suddenly, and since then it seems boils are ravaging my body from the waist down. I currently have about 12 of them). I've stopped the Turmeric today because it's having no effect (except to upset my stomach, a lot), and am trying to up my vitamin C intake to 5000mg per day, but currently I'm taking about 3000mg. Also, taking 2 teaspoons of Manuka Honey per day. Will add A and E, as well. And Omega-3.

my cousin is the same. boils unresponsive to anything, she finally tried botox injections and they are responding to this, she is riddled with them during stress and apparently she is allergic to her own sweat. anyway the botox is helping her.

Pippi, Silicea is a homeopathic cell salt that is good for boils, as it is a cleanser. I suggested this to a friend and it worked very well for her. She took it in the 6x potency.

Hi Pippi, Hope you remembered that turmeric is oil soluble, but not water soluble. If not, this may be why it isn't working on your boils. You can mix it in coconut oil or half & half milk or cream, or some seem to be mixing it in coconut milk.

I started using turmeric about a month ago, both topically and internally with pretty good results. So I started researching this more and tumeric has curcumin in it. While I am no doctor, it may be that the curcumin is what is actually helping alot of these persons. Before you give up on the turmeric I would do some more research. There are a lot of curcumin products now being developed with better bio availability and it may be that you need a stronger form of the curcumin and or higher dose of the turmeric. I started at about 500 mg to 1000mg of turmeric (extract) and am going up to 2000mg per day. There are many papers and studies on the Internet that indicate this higher dosage. I would do some more research if I were you before you give up on it. Apart from the boil issues it has a wide variety of other very good effects---one of the best herbal remedies I have used.

Hi Pippi,

Wow. My heart goes out to you. While I don't have personal experience with multiple boils, I have had my share of single boils, throughout the years.

I agree with Joyce, that mixing the Turmeric with oil is important, since it is oil soluble. Also, check out the Earth Clinic section on "Oil Pulling".

While reading your story, a few of things came to mind:

*** I have learned, on this site, that bacteria, viruses, etc. thrive in an acidic environment, and cannot survive an alkaline environment. You might want to try cleansing the skin around each boil, with a cotton ball soaked in, 1 tsp aluminum free baking soda in 8 oz. filtered water. This will create an alkaline area around the boil, and will not allow the bacteria to live on the skin.

*** Along those lines, you should also make sure that your body is a neutral pH. This means that your urine and saliva test at optimal 7.0 pH. To obtain that pH, take a look at the Earth Clinic section on "Baking Soda Feedback". One of the posts near the top of the page says, " 04/27/2007: Linda from Denver, Colorado writes: "For me and my family and friends, baking soda has cured all kinds of microbial infections, probably due to the regulation of pH balance."

*** Check out the section, in the Earth Clinic section on "Hydrogen Peroxide". For most of us our bodies do not function, at an optimal level, due to a lack of oxygen. While it is a bit controversial, there are proponents (myself included), of supplementing our oxygen with food grade hydrogen peroxide. Check out the Earth Clinic section on hydrogen peroxide, and then you might want to check out this link: http://educate-yourself.org/cancer/benefitsofhydrogenperozide17jul03.shtml There are many who also believe that by increasing your body's oxygen levels, you are less susceptible to infection, and also able to fight localized infections.

I hope this helps.

To Pippi from Boise, ID

I have had 6 to 7 boils in the last 6 months. The most recent one disappeared within 3 days. I applied turmeric powder mixed with coconut oil to the boil. Taking turmeric internally disn't help me too... so I just applied the turmeric paste (mixed with coconut oil) to the boil and bandaged it. It was gone in 3 days... but the mark was there. Aloe Vera gel helped to reduce the mark left over by the boil.

When my daughter was diagnosed with staph she was having multiple painful boils on her body one after another. The treatment was antibiotics. I generally won't use antibiotics unless it's a life and death situation but was scared of the progression of the infection which nearly affected her spinal cord. That site cleared up. But when the infection returned I knew we had to find another solution.

What I believe caused the outbreak was the normal staff that many people carry was able to become out of balance with the other organisims on my daughter's skin. She had been apply copious amounts of Jergen's brand lotion that contains mineral oil. This coated the skin and disruped the natural balance of microbes, maybe killing some that keep the staph in check.

After some trial and error and researching on the Internet including ideas from Earth Clinic here is what we did to get rid of the staph (and it has not returned): First we stopped application of synthetic lotion (I'd been warning her for weeks about using it). Next I began rubbing her body with fats to nourish the remaining good bacteria. That means long massages with raw coconut oil after hot baths to open pores. (To this bath water soak I added essential oils like oregano to reduce levels of staph in general over the body. ) I made my daughter sit on the roof (we lived in India at the time where roofs are flat) and get very sweaty in the sun. This sweat provides the acids and fats needed by the good bacteria. She then did NOT take a shower or wash her hair. (My duaghter would NEVER do ANYTHING that caused the slightest sweat previous to this, so it was a great trial for her to get sweaty and NOT wash it off! ) This worked to generally rebalance the skin but we still had the boils themselves to deal with.

The boils/infections came less frequently as time went on but were EXTRMEMLY painful... Not like other local infections. Staph would tunnel down her hair shaft and into the folicle and the spread out under the skin creating a cavern filled with dead tissue. The redness and swelling was apparant on the surface but did not expose the tremendous damage being done below the skin. We needed a way to stop the progress of these infections before they did the damage. She still has scars (some large) from these monster infections.

How we treated newly forming infections: I took colloidol silver and saturated a guaze pad of appropriate size to cover the new site. A new site would simply be a red bump that was disproportionally painful to it's size and redness. That's how we knew something was staph or just a regular small red bump on the skin... The pain factor. As soon as as a sight was identified as staph I taped the saturated guaze over the area (maybe an inch square for example) and left it there for 24 hours. If the pad began to dry it was re-wetted and re-applied. This method NEVER failed to stop the staph in its tracks. If we had known this at the beginning of the journey my daughter would have been far less scarred as we worked to rebalace her skin.

I opted out of the anti-biotics because I did not want a short-term solution that would have likely turned into a long-term nightmare. She had already used antibiotics once for the problem and I knew continuing down that road would have ruined her internally and could have resulted in resistent strains harder to eradicate later on.

I hope this protocol will help someone else dealing with staph (one nurse suggested it might have been MRSA we were dealing with).

I'm writing this post as a way to give back to Earth Clinic for all the help I've gained in the past. I've also posted treatments under Alzheimer's/Parkinson's, grey hair, and ringworm.

I have had trouble with boils all my life. Today I just found this website went right to the store and I am drinking the turmarek as I am writing this. I have 3 boils right now and one is so sore I cannot stand it. I will let everyone know how this works in a few days. One of the boils will not come to a head and it just keeps getting sorer and sorer. I do not want to go to the doctor. I put about 1 1/2 teaspoon in a glass of tea. We will see.

I had my second boil ever, the first one was in '97, so I didn't really realize what it was until it was way beyond "first signs." I was desperate for some relief, even after seeing the doctor and getting a prescription for antibiotics. A friend recommended a baking soda poultice, and upon researching that, I found this site. I bought Turmeric capsules at ___ on the way home and began taking them immediately. That was 6 days ago. My wound opened up and began draining just before I started, but it was only a slight amount of blood, and by the next evening (24 hours after starting turmeric) it began to drain really well. I am so thankful for this site and for all the testimonials, as I am usually a skeptic about things like this. But when you're desperate and you don't want to have that doctor pull out the scalpel to lance you, well... I'm a converted believer. I saw the doc again 3 days after the first visit, 2 days after starting the supplement, and he said no need to lance it. I was thrilled! That first boil in '97 I had to have lanced. It was on my upper back and unreachable, and by the time I saw the doctor she had to cut about an inch deep. By the time they were done taking care of it, I think the doctor wished she had sent me to a surgeon. The nursing staff was stopping by to see all the drama. I never want to go through that again. Thanks again! I'll be telling everyone about this site.

About 1yr. ago, I developed a pimple (in a very private area) which turned into a boil, months after. I was treated by the doctor, with steroids and it never completely disappeared, but it stopped paining. Then it returned. I had some medecine left, so I used it as weel as some anti-biotics. I became very concerned, and did some research. One website recommended turmeric, to be taken orally, the way your website recommends. However constipation was listed as a side effect so I just drink 1 tsp. in warm water, followed by 2 glasses of water as I suffer with constipation. I also used tea tree oil, I have at home, as a topical ointment. This was 2 wks ago, and I have had 3 outbreaks alltold. I am feeling some relief, although I can still feel a very small lump. I hope I have no more outbreaks. I also read about the use of turmeric powder, as a cancer fighting agent, so I think I will continue to drink it. I hope there are no side effects.

This is a follow-up from my 04/22/2009 post. Turmeric is still working for me. I have been taking 2 550mg three times a day. I began to notice the beginning (swelling) of a new boil. At that time I switched from extract capsules to root capsules and that has made all the diffreence. I can see that the root is more potent. They smell better (more like the powdered turmeric) and the color is richer. The swelling went away completely and I did not have any draining or pain. I will continue to take turmeric everyday. However because of the potency of the root versus the extract I cut back to 2 capsules one time in the morning. Just as a side bar a shot of prune juice (literally a shot glass full) once a day eliminated the constipation for me. I am a lifetime believer in the healing power of turmeric!

thanks Adam. would like to add that the Journal of American Chemical society has just published a study (March 3, 2009) from University of Michigan on Turmeric. They have discovered that curcumin (active ingredient in Turmeric) works within the cell membranes making them function more orderly. This allows the membranes to more effectively control the flow of substances in and out of cells, which improves cells' resistance to infection and malignancy. So once again science is slowly catching up to what we know to be true, that it works. There is a low incidence of Alzheimers in India & it is thought that it is due to the frequent use of Turmeric in their cuisine.

EC: According to one post on EC, Alzheimer's is becoming more common in India...

https://www.earthclinic.com/cures/cancer.html#TURMERIC

02/05/2009: Ruma from Calcutta, India replies: "It is NOT true!! Cancer is not rare at all in India, though certain types of cancer are rare (such as colon cancer). Also, Alzheimer's is getting more and more common - one of my aunts suffered from Alzheimer's before she died.

But Turmeric is a powerful herb - it is a purifier of the blood and it is very good for you. It is best eaten in its raw form, and also does wonders for the skin if you make a paste out of the root and slather it over the face.

It really is an amazing herb but one needs to be careful before making claims about the occurrence of cancer!"

turmeric is gold! i had a nasty boil come on mid november. it would get fierce, then subside to where i thought it was nearly gone, then come back with a vengeance! TURMERIC is the ONLY thing that works! i began taking turmeric on the 21st of february-powder mixed with hot water. then i also made a salve of turmeric powder, tea tree oil mixed with oliver oil and put this directly on the boil. then i bought some turmeric capsules and took 3 3x/day and the boil went down in size and pain within days. today, a little more than a month later, the boil is completely gone, healed and no scar! i will be taking turmeric always! also to be noted, in indian culture and ayurvedic health, taking turmeric is highly recommended for healthy skin and over all health.

Hi Katerina, it's kourkoumas or kourkoumi in Greek, another name is chrysoriza, I found a nice shop where I live and they are selling spices, coffee, herbs, etc, and ordered it. They brought it a week later. There are shops I think in Euripidou street downtown, but I don't know about the quality there.

I am now interested (and anxious!) in trying the turmeric remedy. I have had a boil on the middle of my forehead, right between my eyes now for over 4 weeks. I have been using slices of potato on it now for a few weeks which has kept the swelling down but it still is there, purple and with a hard nodule in it(never do I see puss in it). Yesterday I noticed that it is going back to getting bigger again and I am at my wits end. I have used lavender oils, hot compresses, aloe, salves and even antibiotics but yet here I sit, still highly embarrassed by it and completely frustrated. So I went searching for more remedies and found this site.

I would like to know though is just how much of turmeric that I should be taking daily and when should I up the dose? Also should I be using a topical on it as well at the same time?

I appreciate anyone's help with this, it's already horrible to get a boil on your body, never mind one that is right there on your face for all to stare at :(.....

i sure wish i had known about turmeric 8 years ago when my husband devloped an abcess - also diagnosed as a spider bite. he didn't show it to me til it was actually green... and i panicked and took him to the ER. well they decided to operate and some staph got into his blood stream and he never woke up. i wish i had tried clay or knew about turmeric - i would have done both.

also after he died the dr. finally told me that it was staph. they hadn't started calling it MRSA at the time.

i never got any boils myself though.

this can save people's lives. if i had just given him turmeric which i had because i cook indian food..... he might be here today.

Wow, where do I begin? I'm in my mid twenties with great health. I generally eat wholesome foods, don't take legal or illegal drugs, and might get a cold once every couple of years but that's it. Here's my Staph Infection Nightmare Story.

I decided to travel abroad for a year as the economy was already spiriling downward at the end of 2007 and I had some money saved up. During this journey, I spent a couple of months in Cuba at which time, most likely due to poor nutrition and hygiene in the country, acquired my first Staph Infection which I initially thought was a spider bite. The reason I believed it to be a spider bite is that my cousin came back to The States from the Dominican Republic with a bunch of spider bites that looked almost exactly the same as my Staph Infection. I began to take some left over Amoxicillin prescribed from the removal of my wisdom teeth that I was traveling with. The amount I had was not enough to completely attack the virus so it came back stronger but this time on my neck. Here's a picture.

http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2223/2282232618_767969b71d_b.jpg

The pain was excrutiating and I literally felt like I was going to die. My neck throbbed with every heartbeat and gave me a horrible constant piercing headache. I never get sick and this put me down for almost a week with soarness throughout my body. I hate taking meds but broke down and went back on the Amoxicillin. After a few days it started to go away finally. A few weeks later I got a horrible ear infection in my right ear that eventually shifted to my left ear and then apparently came out of my middle finger as a huge boil. My finger was literally three times as thick as normal. Again Amoxicillin was taken only to have dozens of more small boils continously appear throughout the rest of my trip.

A third large infection in my nose began to appear in Colombia two days before my trip was scheduled to end. When I returned to The States the infection had grown enough that my upper lip was ridicolously inflated and my family was really worried about me. Again, the throbbing pain was excrutiating enough that I felt like I was going to die. My entire body was sore and I had this constant fierce headache. I was seriously considering flying out of the country again for medical treatment as I don't have insurance at the moment. One night I stayed up not being able to fall asleep because of the pain and started surfing the web on my bed with my mobile. I came across the typical 'western medicine' websites and read people's depressing comments about how they have suffered with MRSA for years and have no hope in site. It really got me down. I googled the same string as before but this time adding 'natural cure' to the end and came across Earth Clinic. There are no 24 hour supermarkets in my area so first thing the next morning I went out, bought some Turmeric, and literally poured some in my mouth chasing it with some juice I had also bought. Within four hours my lip started to go back to a normal state enough so that my cousin noticed and asked what I did. I couldn't believe how quickly this worked without having to take Amoxicillin. It actually reacted faster than the Amoxicillin did with previous infections. I hate taking Amoxicillin because after five days on it I feel horrible and of course theirs the toxicity factor of continuously administering it.

Looking back a lot of things make sense now that I researched the disease and apparently a lot of it has to do with an individuals immune system. I first got the infection in Cuba where basic nutritious things like milk and meat can be hard to come by and expensive. After a few days of heavy drinking I noticed it was more likely for the boils to appear or if already midly present they would intensify. The last few days in Cuba I partied pretty hard with friends while the neck infection was in a mild state. By the time I got to Costa Rica it was huge. Also on the last few days of my trip, of course, I had to go out with a bang and partied non stop which probably caused the most recent one. As soon as I got back family and friends that haven't seen me in a year wanted to catch up so the partying didn't end in Colombia. Another observation was that during my journey through Brazil I fell in love, not only with Brazilian women, but also with their smoothies and drank a couple a day. Looking back, I didn't get any boils while in Brazil though I partied hard there as well. In conclusion Turmeric worked amazingly, it might have prevented me from getting boils, and heavy drinking for a few nights in a row would cause boils to either appear or, if already present, intensified the infection. I thank Earth Clinic so much for this great information and God for always having an answer within nature so as not to be exploited by western medicine.

Is turmeric the new penicillin? I have had a recurring boil for many years now. I dont want to go get it removed because of the scar. I found this website and got some TURMERIC. It has been hurting recently so i could not wait to experiment. Let me tell you, the pain started to go away and it was almost completely gone within two hours. This stuff is amazing. I used the REXALL caplets and also the paste with warm water. Now I was told mine was due to an ingrown hair that keeps growing in the same area. Does anybody know if plucking it would be good or how do you get to the core?

Actually, I am very thankful that people post their reactions to a cure, whether positive or negative. I have realized that many respond differently to the same treatment, and it helps to get a balanced view of a certain supplement. Although Turmeric has dramatically helped me with fatigue and brain fog, I have noticed definite hormonal reactions to it such as flushed face, and irritability and insomnia if I take too much. When I took a whole tablespoon, my heart pounded for 2 hours and I was wiped out. My friend took that amount (because the smaller doses did nothing), and still felt absolutely nothing. My brother is being helped a lot by it (energy, clearer thinking, etc.), while my husband noticed nothing, even though we keep going up on the dosage. We are definitely all different, and I wouldn't be surprised at all if a hormonal imbalance caused by turmeric would start off a chain reaction of different physiologic responses in the body that could lead to a yeast infection. Who are we to tell someone else how their body does or does not work? I want to hear both sides. Thank you to everyone who gives an honest report.

My husband and I had four boils this month alone, something neither of us had ever experienced. We concluded that we got the boil in the same areas that we shaved...and shame on us we used the same razor! Anyway last week the biggest boil I've ever seen came out on my face by my ear. It was larger than a golf ball. I was about to go to the ER when I came across this site. My husband ran to store to get tumeric capsules because I had tried everything and figured what the heck! Well last night I took my first capsule woke up and the boil is 1/2 the size already. The pain has decreased as well and I can function at work without feeling it today! I am not one that takes herbal pills and usually trusts the doctors. But when I went to the first pharmacy, the pharmacist said he'd never heard of the spice being used for that. I say, they should be made aware. This stuff is truly amazing and I'm sold!! Thank you everyone. I was truly at my wits end!

Just wondering if anyone knows if Turmeric Force-Full Spectrum Turmeric is a good capsule. It doesn't seem to be working for me. It has been almost 2 weeks. Each tablet is 400mg. Is there any capsule that is recommended???

EC: What fillers does this brand contain? Turmeric powder bought in the grocery store in the spice section (or a large bag bought for a few dollars at an Indian grocer) is quite potent.

I should have written long ago but better late than never. I had a big boil that looked like a giant pimple on my middle finger just below the rim of the nail. It did look ugly and I'd put a bandaid over it when I went out. Sometimes it would kind of burst and leak some ugly stuff. I looked on this board and a lot of people were saying to use turmeric either as a pill or a make a compound. I was ready to try anything that sounded safe. So off to the store I went and bought a bottle of Turmeric and took 2 or 3 and followed the regime. I swear to God in 3 or 4 hours the boil was down to half the size by the next day it was almost gone. I kept taking the turmeric and still do. Now there is nothing to show there was ever a boil there at all. I did have a flat red spot for a long time but it finally went away too. I highly recommend turmeric and thank all the people here who tried it and talked about it. Now I'm going to try the pickle juice for leg cramps. Thanks from the bottom of my heart for a great cure. I had a boil close to vaginal area. Looked on line for a holistic remedy....found your site! Bless you! I bought organic turmeric from Uncle Harry's in Redmond, Wa. I took 3 teaspoons a day before each meal in a glass of water. My boil was totally absorbed in three days!

Now, I have a question. My daughter has a cyst under her eye about the size of a large pea. Could a poultice of turmeric and emu oil help on the outside; and taking turmeric for the inside make it absorb into the body and go away? Thanks!

Hi All - esp. Wendy,
I had a very nasty sty on my upper eyelid for some days before discovering the TURMERIC CURE here @ EARTH CLINIC. I immediately diluted a little in warm water in a liqueur glass & bathed my eye with this - holding the glass very close to my eye to prevent spillage. I kept it in place for a minute or less, and VOILA! within hours (can't recall how many) the sty reached a head & burst on its own. I helped to drain it using hot water on cotton wool & the little that remained disappeared within the next 24hrs. THANK YOU EARTH CLINIC & to everyone that has kindly contributed their testimonials as well! TURMERIC really works like MAGIC! Thanks GOD too for this AWESOME gift! :)

I had just had two boils and could feel a sty starting in my eye in the morning, but the very small bump was not yet noticable to anyone but me. That evening I started the turmeric remedy, mixed 1 tsp in 1/2 glass warm water around 7:00pm. I took it again around 11:00pm and by morning, the tingling and pain from the spot was gone and only the very small bump remained. I took it again 3 times the following day and by the 2nd morning, it was completely gone.

I first had a boil last February on my neck. At the same time, I also had an infected pimple just on the left side of my mouth. It's like they both turned out the same in size and in the way they really hurt. I was on heavy antibiotics for 2 weeks and when they healed, I disregarded that it may return coz I happened to drain it on my own, little by little. Just last week, I was shocked to see new ones on my groin area! Of all places! It's like I just had a baby delivered. It hurts like hell. I decided I wont take any antibiotics anymore. With diabetes, I dont want to be too depended on so many meds. So this time, I tried the net to search for natural remedies. And believe me, just after 2-3 hours of taking a teaspoon of turmeric powder on warm water, I literally felt comfort. Now on my 3rd day of taking a teaspoon of turmeric, 3x a day, my boils have already started draining faster than my last one. And by God, less painful! I can now sleep at night and I know this will be over very soon. Im so thankful I found your site.

I first started getting boils about 2 years ago. Just recently within the last 6-8 months the frequency of them increased. I would alternate between my armpit to my pubic area. Of course I would go to the doctor and get the obligatory Keflex and pain medication. When the incidences started to increase to every month I decided to research some alternative methods. The latest boil was an angry located at the base of my rectum. It grew to the size of a large walnut. Needless to say it was not a pleasant experience. I tried the 1 tsp of Tumeric in warm water (I had some in the spice cabinet)One dose as I got home and one dose before I went to bed. At 4 am the following morning, the boil came to a head and burst violently. My husband bought capsules from the local health food store. It is now Monday and I feel fantastic. It is still a bit raw, but nothing a little zinc oxide can't cure.

Thank you for this wonderful forum.

I'just had my first boil. I found this web site and tried the turmeric it worked almost instantly. With in 2 hours the swelling had gone down and the pain was going away! I bought the capsules since I can't eat things that don't taste good. They had 400 mg and I took one once a day. After this great experience this page was bookmarked for future reference. Thanks
