The turmeric is incredible and is working already 24 hours after using. Am doing the drinks and also made a paste to put on the boil overnight. Now no itching, burning - decreased by half and feels a lot calmer. Have recommended this site to many others. Keep up the good work! THANKS EVER SO MUCH, Kate

When detoxing, avoid all sugars, bread, pasta, potatoes, etc. Replace with honey and Stevia, a natural tree product, if necessary.
Stick to mostly, if not all, organic vegetables, raw and cooked. Vegetable soup is great in the crock pot because you can keep it on low all day, eat as much as you want and even drink the broth.
After a week, you can eat a potato and meat (6-10 ozs) with a meal. In the second week, you can add a fruit daily. I prefer eating fruit in the morning, to help pass my stool, and I feel better for the rest of my day.
Always drink plenty of water. Warm water first thing in the morning helps to hydrate your whole body (including your organs) to help them work at their best. Drinking water before bed helps reduce heart attacks. I drink a glass about 2 hours before bedtime so I can urinate before going to bed.

Hi, This isn't a Yea or Nay for Turmeric, more a question. Many people say they have seen great results when taking Turmeric, but did it make the problem worse before making it better?
I ask because I am taking two 800mg capsules per day, I can't stomach the turmeric powder, I have tried various ways and it makes me sick, so I have to use the capsules. But it seems to be bringing out more boils, I have two on my inner thigh, a huge on under my arm and one on my stomach.
I have been taking Turmeric for 3 weeks maybe a little longer. I also take one garlic capsule a day. My hub says maybe it works by bringing them all out first, but I haven't read that mentioned on here anywhere. Please can anyone give me some advise :)
Thanks, S

I recommend buying Turmeric in the spice section in bulk and then buying empty capsules (they have vegan ones really cheap) then PUTTING ON GLOVES BECAUSE TURMERIC STAINS and making capsules that way. I do that with Turmeric and Cayenne Pepper and take them with food or else you get a weird taste in your mouth. Those supplements could have ANYTHING in them. They aren't regulated and most of the review sites are just "pretending" to be reviews and actually promoting their supplement.

I take 1 tsp of turmeric in half a glass of warm milk with a little honey to taste. (Golden milk). I enjoy it and it is beneficial in many ways beyond boils so why not take it every day. This is enough for me.

Does taking the tumeric in liquid stain your teeth in the same way it can stain your skin?
Turmeric

I use a straw, held further back in my mouth. the only stain is a patch on the back of my tongue, and that is usually gone in a couple of hours. even if i drink it warm to hot i use a straw.

Hi
After reading through your extremely informative site I decided it was time to post my first question.
I have been suffering from constant recurring boils for over 4 years now, mostly on my inner thighs but the odd one under my breast and I currently have one on my stomach. I am lucky if I am free from them for even a week.
After reading through your site I decided to purchase some Turmeric capsules from the health food shop. I have been taking them for only 5 days but have yet to see any results apart from a couple of the boils have burst. My question is for those of you that have used Turmeric for this purpose how long before you seen the boils stop recurring?
Many Thanks
Swan

Hi Swan! When I had my boils (from August last year) I tried everything I read on EC; turmeric, aloe, baking soda, etc. I wanted to let you know what really worked for me was the garlic. I think I started with garlic in December since the boils would always come back. I would break a garlic capsule and applied the oil on my boils(the smell is not so great)and also would take them internally. I also bought Hibiclens wash. When I started doing this is when I noticed a big difference. Today I only have the scars but I am boil free. I hope this helps you on your quest. Good health to you!!!

Hi Lita209
Thank you for sharing your story. I never thought of garlic, I will purchase soon asap and give it a try, I really hope it works as it is really getting me down. I have 4 large ones on my inner thigh at present. I don't know how the Turmeric is supposed to work, I thought maybe it is mean't to bring them all out initially, but I'm not at all sure. But it does appear to be making them worse :(I have been tested for MRSA and it's not that.
Best of health to you too

Swan, hello, I hope that my input helps you some. I had a severe case of these boils and the way I cured it was as follows: I took for about 3 months, 4 to 8 capsules of turmeric, once in the morning, and once at nigh before bed. Also, I drank a large glass of organic-apple cider vinegar and water mix for about the same time, I sipped this glass of water with about three spoons of vinegar throughout the entire day. It has been almost three years since then, and I had one or two very small-pimple-like boils a few weeks ago, which went away rather easily. I learned this remedy in this wonderful site and I still so very grateful. I hope this helps you ... good luck!

Holy crap! I have been sitting here for the past 4 days barely able to walk due to a giant boil that looks like a frickin volcano poking out of my waistline, and I just took 1 tsp of turmeric powder, warm water, and a little honey and INSTANTLY i feel better, it's unreal! I've been using oil of oregano on previous boils and it seemed to work ok, it did not cure the pain but it seemed to help them pop faster. But this, wow, all my pain has been reduced by a huge amount in a tiny amount of time.
To give some background, I am a 22 year old male and have been dealing with boils on my right arm for the past couple months, but this one on my waist just appeared, and will hopefully soon disappear thanks to the wonders of turmeric! Thank you for the wonderful site and information!

This is an update to the turmeric notation made 11/07/09 - As of 11/30/09 I have continued to take tumeric and all lumps from previous boil episode have completely disappeared and scars have lightened with no further outbreaks! My husband developed a second dime sized boil which seemed to appear overnight and in a very unfavorable location. He began taking tumeric at once and I applied a paste of tumeric and triple antibiotic ointment covering it with a dressing which was most difficult to keep in place, a jock support was very helpful! It drained then sealed within 3-4 days at which time I switched to turmeric and diaper rash cream. Within 10 days I couldn't even see where it had been! Much better than the baseball size hole he ended up with from surgery on the previous boil! He says he will take the tumeric over surgery any ole day!

I just found this site after a trip to the doctor for a very painful staph infection on my thigh. I am taking oral antibiotic (mainly because i'm afraid not to) and started taking turmeric last night. My question is whether taking the antibiotic and turmeric together has any impact on the effectiveness of either?

On the subject of boils; yes they are very contagious. I use the alcohol swabs found in the diabetic department of your pharmacy to clean the area before applying any and all cures. Store brands are very inexpensive ($2.95 for 120) and I can clean my hands, as well. Over the years I've found that when my immune system is compromised, I'll get a boil (stress, illness, toxicity). Turmeric is the only thing I have found to be consistent in keeping them at bay. As I am 67, they no longer occur 'monthly', thank the Universe, but I still get them occasionally. I then look for the source of the 'stress' I'm in and repair that, too.
Thanks for the wonderful site. It truly is a lifesaver.

I was diagnosed with MRSA in January of this year when I had an infection in my nose and a boil in my armpit. Both of those infections were very painful, and took a very long time to heal. On May 26, 2009 I felt the beginning of a boil forming in my armpit again. I was so distressed that I couldn't think about anything else for a day (I was great company on Memorial Day.) Later that evening I found this website, and immediately bought and tried the turmeric treatment (I bought raw spice at the grocery store). The treatment is not pleasant to drink, but it definitely kept my boil from forming. The next morning the pain from the boil was gone, and the lump shrunk. It took three more days for the lump to disappear, but it never surfaced. I'm so happy I found this treatment. I'm going to implement it every time I feel a boil forming in the future. Thank you!

I used tumeric to cure my boils. I woke up the morning I was leaving for Florida with a boil. I got on the internet and found your site. I tried to drink the 1 teaspoon in a glass of warm water. That was terrible. I then tried mixing it with apple juice which was not much better. I did finally drink it all. I carried the turmeric with me and finally decided to add it to my coffee. I did not measure I just sprinkled some in each cup of coffee. My boil never got very big and painful like the ones in the past. It drained a little and I had to pull the plug out but there is no lingering hard spot like the one I had a few weeks before.

Ive had staph infections/boils for the past year and a half. Each time diagnoses as spider bites or staph and given Bactrum and clindomiacin. I've spent close to $2000 in doctors bills because of not having health insurance. I bought Turmeric for $4.00 at the grocery store and have been drinking it and have not had a serious break out since. The boils still show up, but are small and disappear within 2 days and are not painful. Amazing!

Lynne, your story sounds just like mine. Shortly after surgery, I have started developing boils. I drank the tsp. of turmeric in 1/2 cup water and the boil came to a head and ruptured. Thanks for the capsule tip. Do you know how much you should take for maintenance dose? I never want another one of these horrible things.

No, I initially started with the powder in water as directed, but was unable to drink a whole teaspoon. This past week I tried again by getting empty gelatin capsules and filling them with regular turmeric spice powder (Frontier brand). See my other message for results of that and what I found that worked.

I get a little annoyed at some nay sayers who like to "warn" people of supposed side effects that have nothing to do with use of certain products. Turmeric does NOT cause yeast infections, because it does NOT throw off the bodies PH balance, so these little warnings are basically false doctrine and it only serves to scare people away from taking a beneficial product.

Hi! I had a huge boil near my bikini like about the size of a golf ball! I was in excruciating pain and after 2 days without any improvement after hot compresses, I was on the verge of going to the doctor to get it surgically removed (which I really really didn't want to do) until I found your website. Immediately took 1 tsp in water and later got the capsules and popped 4 400mg pills in. Also applied some turmeric mixed with honey directly onto the boil. In 24 hours, the boil had shrunk to 1/2 its size and started draining. In 48 hours, the pain was gone! Its been 4 days, and now all is left is a small bump that only hurts when it comes into contact with cloth, so I put a bandaid on it, and I can finally SIT! Will continue taking turmeric until its fully healed. Will update then. Thank you Earth Clinic!! :)

I am truly a believer in turmeric. I have been struggling with a stubborn boil on my groin/inner thigh area for some months now. It would grow to excruciating size to the point where I walked with a limp and had to avoid any clothes items that may rub against it; then shrink away to inevitably return. It seemed to be affected by my cycle? I tried everything. First thing I went to the doctor to find out what it was because I had never experienced this before. He immediately let me know that it was an abscess/ boil and prescribed me some harsh antibiotics and said it should make it go away and if it doesn't I was to come back in two weeks if it was still there and have it lanced. Well I didn't want to take the harsh antibiotics or have it lanced so I immediately went to the local natural health store to see what alternatives I would try. I was on Colloidal silver oral spray and also took it topically, vitamin A and C Vitamin E and Zinc. Hurray it seemed to be working. I was so ecstatic as the pain from this boil was too much to handle at times. Unfortunately no matter how small it got or even if it seemed to be gone once every month it would return. This past Monday it came back with a vengeance. In all the time I had battled this boil it had never been so painful. This time I tried googling any other natural remedies that would work and I found this site, I was desperate. OMG turmeric is amazing I started taking it yesterday at doses of one teaspoon mixed with warm water 3 times a day at B/L/D and today my boil is draining! The relief is amazing. I also soaked it in the hottest water that was tolerable 3 times a day. And made a mixture of polysporin and turmeric and dressed the boil with this over night and during the day. I hope I never have to deal with this pain again. It drained last night right before bed and so much pus came out; it was almost scary. The only thing I am worried about now is the core? I have read that you have to make sure you get that out? I haven't done that yet and I'm not sure how. If any one has any suggestions please let me know. This is amazing and I highly recommend this CURE for everyone including sceptics.

This is regarding Tanya from Alberta Canada. I too have a boil near my groin area. It once got so big as a walnut and drained. But it keeps filling up, but I don't let it get big enough, so I bust it open to let it drain. I don't want to ever go through that excruciating pain again. But I don't know how to get the core out as well. If anyone knows how to get the core out, please let us know! My email address is

In response to the ladies wondering how to get out an intractable core -
A bottle (pop bottle, milk jug). Boiling water. Emerse the bottle into the hot water but do no let the water get into the bottle. Quickly take it out of the water and position it over the infection. You need to make sure the rim is firmly sealed against your skin.
This will cause the bottle to cool and the bottle to start sucking the area in the bottle.
This works for stubborn breastmilk duct clogs too.

Hey- I know its been almost 2 months. i hope your children havent suffered this long. Both my 3 year old and 20 month old and ME get MRSA boils every few months but since 9 months ago they have been really infrequent and no where near as the hassel. More mild discomfort rather than EXCRUITATING PAIN. I down a tsp of tumeric as soon as i feel like i'm getting one. I cannot for the life of me get my children to come near it. I found a website that claimed Manuka Honey helped. The stuff is expensive at Wellsprings/ Whole Foods $36 for a small 12oz jar. But I swear by it. I dab it with a qtip on a the site along with the antibiotic ointment the doc prescribes us and its gone within a day or 2. My kids also get a spoonful to eat when they get colds. They heal cuts in no time. I also noticed they come on after we ingest lots of sweets. My son just a birthday so lots of cake and junk food. On Earthclinic there was something about a possible link to sugar.

to Steph from Messauga, Ca. Hello Steph, Did you know that you can purchase empty capsules and put the turmeric (Or any other substance) in them yourself, if you can't stand the taste otherwise. The little device for filling empty caps runs about $l3.00. You can find both on line. Probably be less than what you paid for that turmeric that isn't working. Another thing you can do for boils (& other infections) is good old epsom salts (magnesium sulfate). Just mix about l/4 cup of epsom salts to i pint of water as hot as you can stand to wring a wash cloth out in. Apply the epsom salts soaked wash cloth to the boil. Do this about 4 times a day and you will see it making a big difference about the second day. You will need to continue this until all redness (inflammation) & soreness is gone.

By the end of the day... i had forgotten that i even had a boil, the pain was completely gone and the boil is disappearing. Thank you all so much for suggesting tumeric.

Anyways i read the forum and decided to apply some of the treatments. I first tried turmeric capsules and most recently turmeric powder with milk. I think the simple powder with milk is more effective...I also mixed a few drops of tea tree oil in vaseline and applied it to my nostrils with a cotton swab. At this point i still get the acne but the inflammation that goes along with the acne...has been reduced dramaticaly...thank you so much for providing this information!!!!

I have had boils and severe acne since I was ten years old. I'm twenty five now. The boils spread from my face to my back and arms, and then to my thighs and other areas in that region. I was unable to find a remedy. It was very frustrating and painful. I discovered this website last year and have used several remedies successfully for other issues. One day I discovered the section on boils and saw that many people recomended turmeric. I started taking app. 7 capsules of turmeric every day. I purchased the capsules from Wal-Mart. They are very inexpensive. Within two weeks my face cleared up. It's been four weeks now and no new boils have appeared at any place on my body. I get compliments from friends and family asking what I did to clear my face up. The turmeric not only cleared up the boils but the acne as well.
