This was a number of years ago now (i just realized that I have used many remedies from this site- always turn to it first- but never posted any of my results), I was in the last month of my pregnancy and I became afflicted with 2 boils, one beside the other, grew to about the size of golf balls; located right in the crease of my groin. It was sooooo painful I could barely walk and cried often (I'm not much of a crier, but I was so frustrated too). I didn't want to take antibiotics b/c of the baby, but I had to do something..... so I went to the Dr.and they prescribed a week of antibiotics which didn't even phase the boils. Then they say my only option is to lance them. I'm weeks away from giving birth! I do not want open wounds there while I'm trying to push a child out of me!!! Omg, this was a nightmare!
I turned to Earthclinic (which I should've followed my instincts and done it first! ) for a natural and safe for the baby remedy. Turmeric was it. Read a lot of positive reviews so I decided to try it. I couldn't handle taking it in warm water like suggested and found another person had buried it in a spoonful of yogurt. Tried that and down the hatch it went, painlessly. And within 15 - 20 minutes I got the tingle inside the boils. They started to drain almost immediately. I kept taking the turmeric about 3x daily. The boils continued to drain for 4 days, with such relief!!!! I never forced anything, just let it do its own thing and they were gone within a week, with barely even a red mark to show for it. Natural, cheap, effective, safe home remedy with no side effects or scarring!!!! It was amazing! I have used it a couple of times since as well, actually as soon as I feel a little bump that might turn into a boil, I use the turmeric and it goes away before it gets to a point of having to drain. I LOVE Earthclinic, THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!!

I recently used a tumeric and aloe vera paste applied to MRSA boil under my armpit. Within a day, the boil decreased in size by 50%. After three days, the boil was gone. Be aware... Wrap the area well as tumeric will stain any garments you may wear! I've also mixed a quarter teaspoon with an ounce of REAL maple syrup and 8 ounces of DISTILLED water. I believe that this nasty infection travels through your bloodstream so it won't hurt to try it. You'll notice a soothing feeling in your stomach and I actually felt calmness while sleeping. I hope this helps for you as it has helped me.

Once a month with my cycle, I noticed I would get a huge quarter shape boil somewhere on my upper thigh. After three month of compresses and squeezing I decided to try the turmeric. I mixed 1/2 teaspoon of tumenic in 6 ounces of cold water. I dabbed a cotton ball with the mixture and used a bandaid to directly place the soaked cotton ball on the boil. I then drank the remaining mixture. The taste wasn't too bad. I will warn you that the orange color of the turmenic acts like a dye and it turned my nice white pj.s orange in the spot where my pj's rubbed against the bandaid. I did this for two days. On the third day I noticed that the boil reduced to half its size and started to slightly drain. Of course I tried squeezing it to rush its progress but it didn't help. I then forgot about the boil and didn't think about it for about a month. I tried to locate the boil but couldn't find any remnant of it. I was AMAZED. It was completely gone. The area was smooth and I couldn't feel any remnants of it underneath the skin. Turmenic had done it's magic. Thank you everyone for your suggestions!

Turmeric + Boil = Gone
Let me first say i really cant believe how fast this worked. I noticed a sore red spot cropping up on my penis (of all places) Of course it started growing into a boil about 3/8 inch across. It hurt like hell. so:
day 1 - did nothing
day2 - started using Smile's Prid Drawing Slave and taking minocycline.
day3 - it is growing and started to form a head, but still hurts like hell
day4 - this thing flippin hurts and seems to just get worse
day5 - same thing - it has come to a head but no drainage
day6 - i stumble across this web site, and the rest is history.
On day 6, I bought some turmeric and took 1tsp with 1/2 glass water at 11:35 and also made a bandage mixed with turmeric and neosporin. At 1:52 i replaced the bandage with a new one because i notice a small amount of drainage and i am thinking wow - this works. At 3:45 i took another dose and changed bandage - again small amount of drainage. At 6:04 i go to change the bandage and the core is poking out. Holy shyyyte i said. I could not believe it.. so i got some antiseptic and tweezers and pulled the core out. 10:00 that same night i replaced the bandage and took another dose.. and in the morning it is totally gone. Even though i was taking antibiotics (just 100mg) a day - i dont think it made this happen. I cant tell you how much i am grateful for this site. Thanks! thanks! thanks!

I am a 24yr old black male. I have suffered from minor to severe boils for 3+ years now. I've been to the emergency room almost 10 times and was hospitalized for 3 days and given antibiotics through IV due to a large boil that covered most of my jaw area. I've had boils pretty much everywhere...inner thigh, inner buttocks, underarms, beard area. I've taken several antibiotics which have mostly helped with healing but no prevention (dicloxacillin, cephlex, ciprfloxacilin etc..). I was scared and ran tests (aids, cancer etc.) The doctors came to the conclusion that a have a chronic case of folliculitis. I could have saved thousands of dollars and extreme pain if I had found this site a long time ago. TURMERIC WORKS! I can't believe it, what are the doctors doing and why havent they picked up on it because I have seen 3 dermatologists and 3 different doctors...all had the same responses and recommendations for medication, which never successfully supressed my outbreaks. Never mentioning turmeric. I started taking the spice with water (which is the most disgusting f**king thing). Even when i do feel a sensitive area trying to form it usually goes away in 24-48 WITHOUT swelling and opening!!! If there's anyone that has experienced remotely to what I have with boils know how painful they are and how big they can get. Words cannot explain how happy I am that i found a SPICE that in my book has damn near cured my situation. Even scarring on my face from past boils is going away. Words cannot explain how happy I am. Also, in my case,i no longer eat spicy foods because I realized that after eating too much I would feel boils trying to form. If you've yet to try turmeric or have a boil right now and cant deal with the pain. I've found that taking alleve helps the most (muscle relaxer/pain reliever). WAY better than aspirin. So until I find this i dont need to take turmeric to prevent boils...I will be taking it forever.

WOW. The Turmeric powder works wonders! The end of October I had to go to the doctor for a very large boil on my groin. It left a hole the size of a golf ball. I then went to a surgeon who gave me bacton (the nose antibiotic.), hibicleanse (sorry not sure how to spell these words). The doctor took a culture of the boil and it came back not as a staph infection. I was on amoxcilion to treat the infection. Well, two nights ago I notice another boil forming in the exact same spot! My birthday is on Saturday and Christmas is comming! I did not want to have to go to the doctor again!I Got on the internet and found the website and immediately bought Turmeric powder. I bought it in the evening so I only took 2 tsp of it. I woke up in the morning and the boil was almost 0.00 gone. Today it is gone and the scars from the previous boils I have had look a lot better. I will keep you posted if anything changes. God's Blessings!

I have been using the Turmeric now for 3 days. It has helped immensely with the swelling I had on my back (where the boil is) and the pain and it has become MUCH smaller and yesterday, it finally came to a head but its not doing anything else. How long does it take on an average to erupt/burst? Thanks!

My brother in law finally figured out that he had an allergy to anything pork. If he stays away from that kind of meat he does not get any boils. All six of his boys inherited that allergy too. If they completely avoid pork they do not get the boils. Hope this helps you because your problem might also be a food allergy.

Cj, you might like to try using liquid digestive bitters, taken at least once per day on the tongue, preferably before your big meal, to help you digest your foods more thoroughly. If you forget to take before your meal go ahead and take it during meal, after, or even at bedtime. Boils and cysts point to a gut issue, so work on improving your gut health and hopefully your skin issues will soon disappear.

I'm currently battling a large, golf ball size boil in my breast region. Unfortunately this is a recurring issue. I kept reading about turmeric and even tried it once but didn't see much change in terms of bringing the boil to a head.
Thanks to this site I learned that turmeric is fat activated and black pepper helps adsorption. So I tried again. My issue was too far gone so I couldn't just take the turmeric pills. I took a two prong approach by creating a turmeric paste with turmeric, butter or coconut oil, black pepper, salt, and water. It made a nice paste that I covered the boil with, covered with a bandage and left it over night. In the meantime, I made Chai green tea with turmeric, black pepper, burdock root, lemon and manuka honey. I drank this tea 2 to 4 times a day. It took 3 nights for the boil to burst but once it did a lot of infection came out. I also added turmeric capsules to my regimen at 2 capsules with every meal.
I'm so happy turmeric is something I can use to keep this issue in check. My ultimate goal is to live a cleaner lifestyle which includes turmeric capsules as a preventative measure.

You are a lifesaver! I have been suffering from abscesses for a few years. They would grow and then rupture on their own, and then the process would repeat. One time I drained it myself using a needle and finger pressure because I was tired of the pain. Mind you the boils were not situated in a very sensitive place of my body and were rather small therefore the pain might be incomparable to yours, though it was still excruciatingly painful.
I am going to try drinking turmeric in hot milk. I think that it is 1) better soluble in fats and 2) taster a lot better in milk. You can also use other spices (cinnamon, ginger, black pepper, cardamom) in pinch quantities for a better taste and digestion.
I normally put 1 cup milk, 1 cup water, turmeric and other spices in the pot and bring it to boil. Then I reduce the heat and let it simmer for about 10 minutes, letting the milk absorb the spices and the water to boil off.

First I want to say I consult with earth clinic whenever I have a health concern. Doctors are a 'no resort' for me.
To heal a stubborn boil in a place where 'the sun don't shine', I read the posts on earth clinic to read what people were using. I devised my own recipe based on common use. It made my boil disappear in a few days. Here it is... 1 teaspoon turmeric, ground black pepper, 2 tablespoons coconut oil, half mug milk, half mug warm water. Stir well until coconut oil has melted and drink once a day until healed.
I hope other readers find my cure helpful. Good luck. Never give up hope.

Dear Jo,
According to the National Institute for Heath, turmeric is considered safe for pregnancy in the amounts you would use in food. In some countries, turmeric is used regularly and often everyday in food.
However it's effect has not been studied on pregnant women, so no one can say, "for sure". I checked several sources and could not find turmeric on a "list of herbs to avoid in pregnancy." Some herbs have estrogenic properties or purgative properties. These herbs are always on such lists. Turmeric is not estrogenic or purgative.
Turmeric is a blood purifier and therefore good at detoxifying. For that reason, I would personally not want to use large amounts of it in pregnancy. Pregnant and nursing moms need to be careful about detoxifying their bodies since toxins would come out in the milk of a nursing mom, and would likely also cross the placenta.
Our bodies are detoxifying regularly through sweating and elimination, so some detoxification is normal, but you wouldn't want to go out of your way to cause extra detoxification during times of pregnancy and nursing.
If I were dealing with a health problem in pregnancy and was having to decide between a strong anti-biotic and turmeric (say for MRSA), I would chose turmeric, and use the smallest amount needed to deal with the problem.
Because turmeric may be a natural blood thinner, I would avoid it in the last month of pregnancy, except in amounts normally used in food.
I hope that will help you to make a good decision!

Dear Amber,
I give my children turmeric.
For small children, ages 2 - 6, I give 1/4 teaspoon, 2-3 times a day. For ages 6-12, I give about 1/2 teaspoon 2-3 times a day. For 12 and over, I use an adult dose of 1 teaspoon 3 times a day. Turmeric should be taken with plenty of water. Some say it can cause constipation, but we have not seen that happen. But maybe it is because we use plenty of water.
I mix turmeric with yogurt, applesauce or honey to give it to children.
You could also spray the boils with colloidal silver.
I have used a mixture of the following on skin infections several times a day:
1 Tablespoon Extra Virgin Coconut Oil
5 drops tea tree essential oil
5 drops of Frankincense essential oil
Even just the coconut oil may be enough.
I hope your children feel better soon!

Never believed in natural cures for anything, but after one night and 4 tumeric 450mg pills... the worst boil on my butt has decreased half its size, and pain is gone.
Was just about to go to ER and get it lanced, when I woke up today I was amazed in the drastic change. I can credit nothing else, but tumeric, and this website for the info I found on it,
Thanks to all who posted their stories.....

I first noticed a 'pinch' on my butt on Friday. It was hard to look at the exact spot because it was kind of between the cheeks, but each day it became more and more sore.
By Monday, it was a full-blown boil, the worst one I've ever had and having to sit on it all day at work was absolute agony. I came over to Earth Clinic for help, always my first source for home remedies.
I should have started the turmeric much earlier; I bought a large bag of it last year when I had a small outbreak of boils.
Monday night after work, I mixed a teaspoon of turmeric into warm water and drank it. That was rough; not the best method for me. Before bed, I took a second teaspoon mixed into about 1 tablespoon of virgin coconut oil (after reading fat is important for the turmeric to work best). I also spread a small amount of oil onto a bandage, sprinkled turmeric over the top of it, and slept with that on the boil.
Tuesday morning, the bandage was soaked, so I knew the boil had begun to drain. It felt smaller (due to its location on my body, it is hard to look at it) but was still quite painful. I washed it thoroughly and started my Tuesday with a half teaspon of turmeric (the full teaspoon gave me brief heart palpitations) in coconut oil and headed to work. Before the day had ended, it began to drain again, this time with much blood.
Home again, I took my turmeric/coconut oil and added black pepper after reading on EC that the pepper increased the bioavailability of turmeric. I took a dose at 5:30 and again at 8:30 before bed. Also, I again slept with a poultice of coconut oil and turmeric taped over the boil.
Today is Wednesday; the drainage seems to be nearly complete and the pain is nearly gone! It's absolutely amazing; when I have had boils in the past, and have not used turmeric, it seems to take 10 or more days to fully get rid of them.
I intend to continue with my 3x per day dosing until there is no pain or swelling there at all and then I think I'll just add a half teaspoon with black pepper and coconut oil to my morning routine for maintenance.
Thank you Earth Clinic!

Turmeric is AMAZING for treating boils. I felt one coming on my inner thigh and read about turmeric treatments for boils on this site and decided to try it. I mixed a teaspoon of turmeric in 8 oz of water and drank it. I also made a paste of turmeric, olive oil and tea tree oil and applied it to the area where the boil was coming in. In about 12 hours the boil started going away! The pain went away as well. I drank the turmeric and water mixture again the next morning and applied the paste again and in 24 hours the boil is virtually gone! This is INCREDIBLE!
I am also bathing with antibacterial/antimicrobial soap for the next few weeks as well. I will probably start drinking turmeric and water regularly because I can feel that it is purifying me from the inside somehow. I don't know exactly how but it's cleansing me and it feels WONDERFUL!
I am so amazed by this experience that I am thinking about studying Herbal Medicine!!!

Tumeric! Tumeric! Tumeric! Couldn't recommend more! Yes drink it with pepper in warm water/milk and apply it to the area in a poultice making a very warm paste out of turmeric powder, ginger powder - sometimes onion grated in as well. When using onion make sure there is a cloth between your skin and the paste as it will burn! And then to speed up the drawing out process my Aunty had read in a children's book the story of an African Bush Healer - pretty cute but the method worked a treat!! Step 1: Find a small glass jar or bottle and fill it with boiling water just a centimetre or two below the lip of the jar or bottle Step 2: With the boil exposed, pick up the jar with a cloth or towel as the glass is VERY HOT, pour out the water and then gently place over the boil. Step3: Release immediately if too hot and wait a second or two till it's cooler and leave for a couple of minutes over the boil. Step:4 Watch and wait! You will see the pus and blood being drawn to the surface at the head of the boil as the heat sucks everything in towards the jar! Quite fascinating!! Step 5: To release when you are happy with how much has come out press down on the skin around the jar to break the seal and allow air into the jar making it easier to pull off.
I did this once in the morning and once at night with poultices in between.
Good Luck!!

My 8 year old daughter got a large boil on her face after getting the flu last week. I looked up boil remedies on this site and saw the turmeric remedy. I gave her 1/8 of a teaspoon in warmed almond milk twice a day in between meals and her boil started to heal within 24 hours. The entire healing process took about 4 days. Now there's just a small pink mark in its place.

Turmeric is an Indian spice...the ground root of the turmeric plant. You can find it in any grocery store like Safeway or Trader Joe's, but I'd recommend buying it from your local Indian grocery store, if you have one close by. Much much cheaper. You can get about 150gms for $1-2 here, instead of paying $6-8 at Safeway etc.
(I know this answer is really late but I thought this info might help someone else).

Hi again dear Earthclinic and its readers.
I have said already in 2009 that turmeric was and still is the best remedy for boils (and not only! ) but I have found a combination that in my case cured the new boils in a day, and healed fast too. The boils didn't become huge this time because I always use turmeric in soups or other food.
My discovery is:
I added danish blue cheese. I searched your site but so far I haven't found any reference.
Danish Blue cheese (Danablue) a popular not too expensive brand, in something I call turmeric soup, with two teaspoons of turmeric, olive oil, 100gr of this cheese, black pepper and boiled onions and garlic and fresh tomato. It is easy to cook fast and it has great taste in my opinion, add the cheese last... but anyway, I recommend blue cheese as a general antibiotic that boosts the benefits of turmeric.
Thank you,
and thanks EarthClinic,
Nic.
ps: someone told me that pineapple is also a great natural antibiotic.

Just about to pass out from pain that has lasted for over 48 hours, I decided to search for anything I can do from home for a painful boil looking spot under my left breast. In one article I read I can make a poltice of turmeric and honey and apply it to affected area. Lucky for me, I had some in my well stocked spice rack. I applied it and covered with bandage right before bed and kid you not, by morning (7 hrs later), I could barely feel any pain in the area.! I am getting ready to do it for the second time and I can only pray it will be totally gone. Thank God for internet, if I would have gone to my Dr, I would have been on antibiotics right now..yikes!!!

I WAS SUFFERING FROM VERY LARGE AND PAINFUL BOILS FROM THE PAST 1 1/2 YEAR. THEY USED TO BE THE SIZE OF A TENNIS BALL AND EACH WOULD LAST FOR ABOUT 1 1/2 -2 MONTHS TO GET CURED. THE FIRST BOIL LASTED FOR 4 MONTHS. AFTER THE BOIL GOES AWAY A BLACK BIG MARK IS LEFT BEHIND. AFTER I STUMBLED UPON EARTH CLINIC SITE ON THE NET, I STARTED TO TAKE TURMERIC I TEASPOON IN WARM WATER THRICE A DAY. THE LAST BOIL WAS A VERY PAINFUL ONE, BUT THAT WAS THE LAST ONE.TURMERIC HAS REALLY WORKED WONDERS WHICH VARIOUS DOCTORS, ANTIBIOTICS, PRESCRIPTIONS COULD NOT DO. THANKS TO EARTH CLINIC.
