Coconut and Lavender Oils

My dog, Rosie has a cyst that ruptured this weekend and she would not leave it alone to heal. She just keeps biting it until it is a huge mess. The vet's office shaved her tail and put a cone of shame on her and prescribed antibiotics and anti-inflammatory meds. I was concerned about the side-effects and damage to her gut from the meds, so I decided to research natural remedies. This is what I would do for my family and for myself, and she is family. I found a recipe in an essential oil book for coconut oil and lavender (15 drops of lavender+5 tablespoons of coconut oil). I have been rubbing this on about twice a day for the past two and a half days and already the cyst is no longer red and inflammed, but also scabbed over nicely. It looks SO much better! She also seems to like the formula. Somehow she knows it makes it feel better. She will even lick it off my fingers after I am done massaging it in. I am going to try turmeric as well, since she seems to be prone to these cysts (and each trip to the vet is usually a $150+ visit). Just thought I would post this as an additional help for those with dogs that are suffering from these cyst issues.
