Oil Pulling
Posted by Molly (Los Angeles, Ca) on 05/14/2011

I have been battling an awful case of Candida for a long while now... I recently broke out in a case of oral thrush that has been so awful! I found this website and discovered oil pulling with extra virgin coconut oil and started op 2x daily plus taking 2 tbsp daily... Initially it cleared up the thrush immediately so fast it was like a miracle!! My Candida symptoms also got so much better!! Now 3weeks later it's starting to come back.. I have been on the Candida diet plus an anti fungal rotation protocol so it's not my diet.... I guess my question is could I have become resistant to the coconut oil already?? Has this happened to anyone else??? Any thoughts would be so appreciated!!

Vitamin B3 (Niacinamide)
Posted by Randy (Jersey City, Nj, Usa) on 05/14/2011

thanks for these tips Kathie. do you think these remedies could be used for intestinal candida issues? also, the B3 article specifically discusses the vitamin in the form of 'nicotinamide. ' how can I be sure that this is the specific form of B3 used in any particular supplement? I don't see it listed as an ingredient in the ones I've looked at. thanks ;)

I struggled with sinus infections for years. Many antibiotics later, I had sinus surgery (they basicly scraped out my sinus membrane to allow a new healthy one to grow back). Unfortunatly, because I had taken so many antibiotics for the issue, fungus had taken hold in my body -this, I did not find out about until several years later. So for two years following my sinus surgery, I experienced a "smell" inside my sinus that smelled like old trash (as I reflect on it, it was a sweet stink much like you would smell from a trash can at the circus or carnival). I was cured of the sinus infections, yet emotionally miserable (I contemplated suicide because I was smelling trash 24 hours a day). I kept going to doctors, even an infectious disease Dr. and they kept putting me on more ANTIBIOTICS!!!

At this time I was also having some hormonal issues so I went to a Dr. that perscribed natural hormones and put me on a wheat and sugar free diet for two months. It worked wonders for my hormones as well as my sinus "stink". However, several years later, the stink came back and I did not have the discipline to follow the diet again. One day, shortly after the "stink" came back I blew my nose and a big BLACK CHUNK of something came out. Luckily I was able to save it in a sterile container that my Dr. had given me at an earlier date. I took it to my Dr. and she had it tested. It took about a month and a half for the specimen to grow. However, the wait was worth it... It was CANDIDA ALBICANS. (Note that it is very difficult to test positive for Candida Albicans because it is rare to get a good sample.. Most people do not just happen to blow a good sample out of their nose like I did! ) Fungus or yeast had been growing in my sinuses because of all the antibiotics I had taken. This makes sence why the wheat and sugar free diet worked.

After the diagnosis of candida, I began nasel washes with probiotics in my nasel wash solution of 2 parts salt to 1 part baking soda (about a quarter to a half teaspoon to a cup of warm water). I also added lavendar essential oil to the baking soda and salt (before adding it to water... I would mix up about a half cup of the b soda and salt and add two drops of Lavendar eo. - it is important to note that you should not use regular table salt... It has anticaking additives, use pickeling salt). I also took extra B vitamines. Lavendar and B3 are great antifungals (see the following links). Turns out that many cronic sinus infections were fungal related as studies are showing that most are...

B3 to treat fungal infections and antifungal effect of Lavendar oil:

href="http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2011/02 http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2011/02/110214201842.htm

I have been "stink free" for several years now and only have an occasional sinus problem that a nasal wash takes care of.

I hope that this helps someone struggling, Kathie

Colloidal Silver
Posted by Bob K (Phoenix, Az, Usa) on 05/13/2011

I would like feedback from Ted or any other readers regarding the use of Collidial Silver for treating Candida. From what I have researched and read here on the earthclinic site and other websites there appears to be 3 catagories of collidial silver products, those being collidial silver, a ionically produced silver and a ionic silver w/ protein. From what I have read the ionic silver products when ingested and hit the stomach acids react and become a salt chloride which is then eliminated from the body. If this is correct then I don't see where this would be an effective treatment.

My question is would a "true" Collidial silver be effective as a treatment for Candida as my understanding from what I've read is that it is the silver particles that must come into contact with the fungus/bacteria/virus in order to kill it so it can then be eliminated from the body. So far I have only found one website offering research data supporting the internal use of collidial silver for eliminating candida while also concluding that there is a more noticable benefit from ionic silver when used topically rather than internally. I do agree with the post I read here on collidial silver that if taken internally, a probiotic supplement should be used as well. Any comments and insights would be much appreciated as it appears Collidial Silver could eliminate Candida at a much faster rate than some of the other candidia cleanses I've read about that take 4 months or longer. Thank you and keep up the great work.

There is an probiotic that the japanese have developed called (three lac) and or (five lac) that is by far the best probiotic ive ever found for the problem of candiasis... It balanced my system in about three months... Along with taking a pascalite clay and psyillium supplement to clean and detox my intestinal tract. I also take ACV and diatomaceous earth on a regular basis for intestinal problems and black walnut for parasitic cleanses!!!

When you have runny bowel movements drink 1tbl spoon of Apple Cider vinegar mixed with water. It helps almost instantly. How is the H2O2 treatment going so far?

Grapefruit Seed Extract (GSE)

Aple cider vinegar is great for suppressing sweet tooth! Whenever I have cravings I try to drink it. :-) However, if you have to have something sweet then instead of sugar use Xylitol, a natural sweetener extracted from birch cellulose. Xylitol does not feed candida, it is antifungal. That is what I use and it taste really good with no after taste.

Also, another option is Stevia, personally I have never tried it and cannot comment on it. Good luck!

Hi Pam B... I used combined multi-remedies on a daily basis rather than just one alkalizing remedy to cure my own systemic candida. The remedies I used, which I've since updated, are all given here:

https://www.earthclinic.com/cures/mystery-diagnosis.html

The minimum should be that you must at least take Ted's alkalizing remedies plus all the remedies that directly attack the candida fungus. Also, correct diet is essential and very important. Candida is very robust and it isn't easy to get rid of it. I still take all the remedies given in the link above, though less intensely now, as a preventative.

Did you only do the alkalizing concoction, or did you do other things as well like candida diet, garlic, probiotics? Thanks so much for sharing. Pam

I have had a revelation re: candida and its root cause which is an over abundance of yeast in the body. Due to the poor economy and wanting to save money, I cut the amount of yeast I use when I make bread. I now make bread using 1/4 tsp. of yeast (Hodgson's Mill which holds 1 Tablespoon). That is 1/12th of a package. In other words, when one makes bread using a whole package of yeast, he is using 12 times the necessary amount; many recipes call for 2 packages of yeast for one loaf of bread calling for 3 -4 cups of flour, so a consumer eating bread is ingesting 24 times the amount needed to make a loaf of bread. I have no idea what the strength of the Rapid Rise or the so-called instant yeasts have. It is no wonder that people consuming commercially prepared breads with yeast as well as homemade breads have Candida! I activate the yeast by adding a little bit of sugar (1/4 tsp. ) in lukewarm water before adding to the other ingredients and only half of the flour, let rise, and then add the remainder of the flour---this is called the sponge method of making bread. If sugar activates yeast in the process of making bread, when a person has an over-abundance of yeast in the body, and then consumes sugar filled foods (also fructose corn syrup) that causes the yeast to become that much stronger in the body, just as it does in a bread dough.

I believe that Candida is the cause of all the ailments listed on this site. When I use the remedies listed on this site, acv, peroxide, tumeric, baking soda, acidolphilus, coconut oil, oil pulling, etc. , I feel so much better. These remedies keep the yeast to a minimum in the body. I can tell by the way I feel whether I have too much yeast, and when doing the spit or saliva test, that confirms my suspicions. I am 66 and use no prescription drugs nor pain relievers, and feel much better than I did in my 40's or 50's or early 60's, thanks to all the information listed on this site. I use vinegar, peroxide, borax, baking soda, to clean, bathe, shampoo, etc. , using no products with chemicals. I only weigh 100 pounds and can mow for an hour at one time with my little power push mower or until my mower runs out of gas. I feel much younger now than I did 20 or 25 years ago. Thank you to all of you on this site who have contributed information. God's blessings to all of you!

Is it stool samples, is it gastro doctors, I need to know what foods I am allergic too also. I have problems digesting vitamin b. this is a thing my mother had also. Please help me get on with my life and get answers. I am not sure what you say about the drinking of baking soda and water 2 times daily. Can I eat meat/or is it just raw vegetables. Grapefruit Seed Extract
Posted by Chloe (East Greenwich, Rhode Island) on 02/15/2011
★★★★★

For a yeast infection that you get only occasionally, Grapefruit Seed Extract works miracles... usually in hours...not kidding Take 10-15 drops 3 times a day in juice... it's very bitter, so watch out!

If your Candida is systemic, chronic and ongoing:

1) Get on the low-fat, mostly raw Vegan train right now! Have copious amounts of organic fruits ONLY on an empty and wait 2 hours before eating anything else...have most of your fruit in the morning. As long as you have no fat or a very low-fat diet, you should not have reactions to the sugar in fruit. FRUIT is healing... You need it... Going long periods without it puts you at great risk of vitamin and mineral deficiencies. The theory is that when you consume a lot of fat, even the healthy kinds, you are coating your intestines and the sugars that should normally be released quickly into your blood isn't released. The fruit, or other carbs, just sit there putrifying, clogged up with the fat, and the candida get to FEAST and make you feel terrible too.

As your only grains, I recommend organic quinoa and organic brown rice and if you are really craving protein, have only wild Alaskan Salmon.... but that's it...no nuts, no red meats or pork - they will only clog you up... No adding excess oils to your meals - just maybe a tsp. Oilve oil per serving of a dish...and no more than half an avocado per day. You'd be wise, at least for the first few days, to eliminate all oils completely to cleanse your system.

2) Take the Niacin... 300-1000mg each day... working your way up slowly by taking 25mg 3 times a day with meals...eventually the flushing will be over or entirely tolerable and you can easily take 1000mg a day, no problem.

3) Take epsom salt baths... 1 per day, if you can.

4) Take about 3-5 capsules of SF-722 with each meal, which can be bought from Vitacost.com.

5) Buy gallons of spring water and put in at least 1 heaping teaspoon of SEA SALT in it and drink it all day...stay hydrated... Use only spring water in your cooking -- avoid tap water like the plague.

5) Do salt water flushes... as much as you can tolerate. Some say, do it 1st thing in the morning, but I like to do them in late afternoon on a day I'm not working - that way, the whole process is done within about 3 hours and I can have a good night's sleep afterwards.

Salt Water Flush Instructions >>>

The Salt Water Flush is performed by warming up one quart of water, only enough to make it lukewarm, not boiling. Add 1 tablespoon of sea salt (not table salt), and include juice from a lime or lemon to improve taste. Drink the entire amount in one sitting, do this at sunrise every day for seven days. Make sure to sip the drink rather than gulping it. Within 30-45 minutes of drinking the saline solution, you will feel the need to have a bowel movement. Depending on your diet, and how many times you have performed the flush, you may feel bloated and the elimination may not come within the specified time frame. Fortunately, there are some simple exercises to speed up the process. The first recommended exercise is the Kogasana or Crow pose. Simply squat down with your back propped against a wall while you sip water.

Another exercise is to rub your stomach both clockwise and counter clockwise. Thirdly, you may try spreading your feet apart and spinning your body from left to right (this is a great stretch for the lower back and abdomen). Lastly, the traditional Cobra position is also great for stimulating the intestines.

You are almost set to begin your first Salt Water Flush, but don't begin before you read these tips:

* The Salt Water Flush is useful before beginning a new naturopathic program, such as a new dietary or vitamin regimen. It allows you to start with a clean state and observe the unadulterated benefits of the new program.

* Speak with a physician first if you have ulcers, appendicitis, tuberculosis, or cancer.

* Celtic Sea Salt is reported to make the taste more tolerable.

* Using a straw may help with the taste of the drink.

* A flush will not work properly if performed too soon after your last meal. Wait at least eight hours.

* Plan to be near the toilet for two hours after you drink the solution.

* Headaches are a frequent detoxification symptom. They usually disappear by day four.

Coconut Oil

Hi Melissa - I take Boron (3mg a day) Magnesium 400mg a day, and a Calcium MAYBE every other day... Maybe. I also be taking Organic Virgin Coconut oil at 3 tbsp a day (starting at one tablespoon, and working up to three tablesoons, SLOWLY so as to not upset my digestive system too much). Boron builds bone, and Magnesium is needed by so many bodily functions... VCO is a GREAT thyroid balancing agent. I also add turmeric to my coffee / VCO (coconut oil) concoction every morning.

Aside from that I also take ACV at one ounce (a shot glass full) in a glass of water and a splash of orange juice every morning.

You might want to also look at taking DIM (google it - DIM) and a good natural progesterone cream. Just suggestions per what you said your age and symptons are... Great for balancing out those damned estrogens that can make our bodies get so whacked out.

I am turning 50 this month, and these are the things I have found helpful for me.

Also - a great (beyond great, and AWESOME book actually) to read is "Breakthrough" by Suzanne Somers. Yes, Suzanne Somers.... The woman is VERY intelligent!!!!!

Good luck to you, and if nothing else, just "google" the individual elements I have mentioned to see if they look like something your body may be needing.... One of them may just be something you will be very happy to have found! Carly :-)

Thanks Patricia. I've done oil pulling as it helps somewhat... I need to get back to doing it.

if I may, it sounds like your son has similar breakouts to what I had.... For me, it was definitely a candida issue. In fact, the fact that this diet has helped him supports this conclusion. That might be something to look into... There are plenty of remedies on this site. It needs to be attacked aggressively.

My son has had remarkable results from oil pulling for acne. He is 26 with many scars on his face from acne since puberty. He tried many topical treatments including ACV and sulfur creams. He improved his diet excluding sugar, processed foods, dairy, fast foods, but still had outbreaks frequently. Since oil pulling with extra virgin olive oil his face is not breaking out and looks SO much better. He never misses a day without oil pulling now.

I have areas on my face, primarily the sides of my nose and between my eyes, that are very prone to pimples and even some cystic type acne. Had this for at least 15 years now, since puberty. The ones on the sides of my nose seem to be there permanently :( Sometimes they get better for a bit, then come back.

i have been trying using coconut oil, ACV, and H2o2 with miminal results. My theory is that they are pockets of candida (i have a systemic issue that I am treating). can anyone suggest a *strong* topical remedy? thank you!

Hi Bobbie,

There is a really great website that deals entirely with candida/yeast issues. Go to this address: www.yeastinfectionadvisor.com/. Over to the left of the page there are tabs, click on the one that says Blog. From there you will see different subjects and one of those is for recepies. If you need more recipes than what is listed, then contact Dan, he is the creator of the website. Just click on the tab that says, Contact me, he is really caring, and responds usually within 24 to 48 hours. Good luck!

Candida Symptoms

Hi, I don't normally post to bulletin boards but I've cured my condition and want to share what I did. The symptoms I had were dry mouth with a rough surface, white and yellow coating, little red spots, and a deep split in the middle. Also tiredness and brain fog. Worst of all constant bad breath. I had this for years and would brush often and chew gum but it didn't help.

First, here are the things that didn't work when I tried them individually: drinking lots of water, stopped caffeine, stopped social smoking, stopped social alcohol drinking, gargling with mouthwashes(hydrogen peroxide made it worse), consuming apple cider vinegar, taking herbs(fang feng tong shen wan), eating more veggies, brushing w/baking soda, selecting food/drinks based on pH, stopped using steroid nasal spray.

In the end, I feel one key practice did it: use tongue scraper w/hard edge(but not too hard) then mix few drops of oil of oregano and grape seed extract in 1 cup hot water. Swirl mouthful for 30 sec and swallow. It will be bitter but repeat as often as you can, all day if possible. I saw results after 1 week and by 2nd week my tongue was red again and moist and slippery. It was a feeling I had almost forgotten. The split is not gone but getting smaller all the time.

Here are some additional things that I did in conjunction that may or may not have helped: reduced usage of steroid nasal spray (instead rinsed nose with water and little sea salt daily), stopped all caffeine and soda(even diet), drank only hot or warm water, took supplements milk thistle, coconut oil, multivitamin, and royal jelly.

I'm so much happier now! Thanks to everyone who posted on this problem and good luck!

No. I do not live in a moldy home. Oddly enough though, 2 and a half years ago we owned a moldy home. We lived there for 5 years. The mold was so bad. My son was hospitalized for breathing issues when he was 1 and a half due to the mold. We tried reporting it to our home insurance company and they said with the amount in our home that it was there before we bought it and they can not cover pre existing damage. We finally let our home go into foreclosure because we could not afford to pay for the mold extraction and pay for somewhere else to live until it was done. We have been alot healthier since we left our beloved first home. Luckily we moved out 2 weeks before my daughter was born and oddly enough she is the healthiest one out of my family, never gets sick with respiratory issues.

I know this is not a website for baking recipes. But I have a very aggravating problem. I am using your website to get off the sugar, to kill off the candida in my body. I have to bake sweet things for my husband all the time, every 2 days or so. He wants nothing to do with my healthy food. So I am on a search for something I can bake for myself, ingredients I CAN use. Is anything from tapioca ok to use? They sell tapioca starch. They mention rice flour, & xanthum gum, all these for gluten free recipes. I wanted to alter the recipes by putting stevia in them. I have tried buckwheat flour, to make my muffins, with cinnamon in them... Oh boy :(. I am about to try millet now. Hope it tastes better!

I know I have to get off the sugar addiction, but I am almost "freaking out" here, trying not to touch my husband's goodies I am making him. (By "freaking out", I mean I am getting mean-spirited! ) It would be easier if I did not have to bake his stuff for him, but I do.

Can you help me? Or refer me to a site that will tell me more? Thank you so very much, Bobbie ps... I tried to register on your site, it won't let me for some reason.

You can't know the relief that I felt knowing that I found someone like myself. I don't know how long I've had candida, but seeing as how it can occur when hormones change, it could be that I've had it for 7 years. I was put on birth control when I was younger to regulate my hormones, but it seems to have caused more damage rather than having fixed anything.

My symptoms are as follows: I became constipated. And I don't mean occasionally, or having a few less BM, at my worst I had a single BM every 2 weeks. My memory started to falter. Being a person who has photographic memory, this was incredibly evident. My joints ached. I had been very athletic and suddenly I found myself moving slower and struggling to keep up with my fellow athlethes, where I had previously had been on varsity. My skin changed. I have olive skin, but over the years, my skin lightened, and rather than getting a nice tan when I was outside, I began to develope splotches. My eyesight, seemingly overnight, got worse and all of the sudden each eye doctor says that I must have pre-mature glaucoma because the pressure in my eyes is very high. I have a white coated tongue. At one point in time I fell incredibly ill and the symptoms that worried me most were the constant sulfuric burps.

Now what may be a little shocking to all of you, is that I'm just 20. I never had any say what we ate because we ate what my father could afford, but I think that may be one of the main contributors. I want to get rid of whatever it is I have. I hate feeling this way, and if I knew that I had had some sort of infestation I would have done whatever means necessary to cure it. I love this website and I will begin treatment immediately, however I have a concern. I have receieved the wonderful news that I'm pregnant with my first child. What treatments can I do while I'm pregnant? Please, help from anyone would be great and very much appreciated.

First off, I would like to thank Earth Clinic!!! You may have saved my marriage! I was at my wits end with my husband. He has been in an ill dispostion for years. He has really bad depression, no concentration (he says his brain just feels foggy all the time), he has gained weight, he is now 330lbs! His depression comes along with a bad temper and extreme mood swings. He has always been like this, since I met him ten years ago but the past 2 years has gotten really bad. Well, I decided to treat him naturally for his depression since I have sucessfully treated myself naturally for different things over the years (haven't been to a docter in probably 15 years aside from The prenatal care and delivery of our 2 kids). I started giving him St. John's Wort, fish oil and a good multi vitamin. It helped slightly but was not enough for me to keep putting up with it. So about 2 days ago I started doing more research and found out about Candida. I have gone through this with my dogs so I was slightly familiar with it. Anyways I found a test to take to see if you have it! My husband definately has it! I think he was born with it! His mom seems to have had the same symptoms most of her adult life. His symptoms are; Chronic Athlete's foot (it's so bad, his feet are covered with probably a good 2 inches of solid callus. ), his armpits are brown with major pimples all over them, itchy anus, itchy ears, itchy and raw belly button, his belly is huge and hard, extreme gas and bloating, extreme appetite, horrible breath and body odor, acne on his rear, recurring jock itch, constant headaches, recurring bronchitis, joint and muscle pain, foggy vision And as mentioned above major mood swings, depression, anger problems... the symptoms can go on forever.

Well he had already agreed to go on a diet to lose weight because I am only 120lbs and it was becoming a real problem for me. It may sound superficial but it is causing real problems for me in the bedroom dept. Because his weight on top of me truly hurts. So I have now eliminated all sugars and refined flours and grains temporally. I plan to reintroduce whole grains after we've gotten the Candida under control. I have also started to give him fresh lemon juice with baking soda, fresh crushed garlic and warm water 3x's a day. Today I am going to get him som VCO and good pro-prebiotics. I really hope all this helps because I truly feel he has this so bad he could die soon from it if not treated immediately. He is only 29 years old and he is just miserable! And so is everyone else who has to live with him!

Anyways I have a few questions. First, should I be treating myself, my children and my animals also? My son, who is 4, Has bumpy, rashy arms, mild asthma, recurring broncitis and Gets thrush about once a year, usually after taking antibiotics, but is quickly cured with nystatin and lots of yogurt. He also had thrush for the first 6 months of his life, which I believe was due to the major iv antibiotics he was put on immediatly after birth (my water broke 2 days before he was delivered, it was a precaution). My daughter who is only 2 years old has mood swings compararable to a menapausal woman. I'm not exaggerating at all about her temperment, it can be unbearable at times. Second, does anyone recommend anything else for my familiy's condition? I must get rid of this monster afflicting us!

Thanks again Earth Clinic! I hope to reply back soon with good news!

Hi Cindy... No, betaine hydrochloride generates hydrochloric acid which would defeat the whole point of alkalizing if taken at the same time. Take betaine hydrochloride at mealtimes and alkalize outside mealtimes, this is what I do. I always alkalize at least one hour before a meal or two hours after a meal to avoid creating digestion problems.

I've just realized that the above explanation might confuse certain people who are taking baking soda for other reasons than alkalizing. So to clarify -- If you are taking sodium bicarbonate for acid reflux problems then you can use this in two ways. First, you can add a little -- 1/8 to 1/4 tspn baking soda -- to your drinking water at mealtimes to cut down on stomach acidity by reducing excess acidity from food like fruit, coffee etc. Another reason might be to take 1/4 tspn sodium bicarbonate in a half glass of water a half an hour after you have eaten your meal(when the food has all moved into the duodenum), this would help digestion by neutralizing the stomach acid chyme to slightly alkaline for efficient second stage digestion. This would also save the bicarbs in your pancreas which can then be used instead to alkalize the blood

There are many ways to use sodium bicarbonate, and alot of this has to do with timing, which can cause some confusion I think.

Hi Possible Candida Suffer from Chicago... When I discovered that I had candida I had just moved to the Philippines, and so my diet changed anyway -- becoming more rice and fruit based. I only ever eat two meals a day, breakfast and diner, and have no problem with this. I eat no desserts and dislike sweet things. I don't eat junk food or drink much soda pop. I don't eat much red meat -- maybe a steak once a month now. My breakfast is large and fresh fruit based and my diner at night is quite small, like a snack really. But this is just me. Any candida sufferer must adopt a diet of their own choice and stick to it. This is a must and is all about breaking the bad dietary habits of a lifetime which has helped to promote and cause the candida in the first place. The best way is to avoid certain foods and products:

1. Absolutely NO SUGAR. No ifs or buts here -- if you really want to get rid of candida -- it starts here, this is a must!!

2. No junk food allowed.

3. No vegetable oil in the diet. Vegetable oil oxidises fairly quickly on the shelf and very rapidly at high heat. Most vegetable oils are also now made from an unnatural chemical process. Better to use virgin coconut oil for cooking -- this is a very stable oil that is very good for you. When I had candida and started taking coconut oil, my bad constipation and bloating issues disappeared in about two weeks. VCO is very healthy for your body and intestines. I only cook with VCO now and VCO has actually helped me to lose weight.

4. No soda pop. Apart from the sugar, soda drinks also contain carbonic and phosophoric acids -- all of which acidifies your body and encourages candida.

5. Eat only white meat like chicken or fish in small amounts and avoid red all meats.

6. No baking products like bread, cakes pastries etc. In the 70s or 80s the FDA, in the wisdom, allowed the use of bromide and bromates in bread-making and baking instead of iodine. Bromine weakens the immune system and also encourages candida growth. Strangely but happily, I recently learnt that bromides and bromates used in baking in the Philipines have always been banned. Well go figure...

7. No canned products in the diet. Bisphenol A -- or BPA -- is contained in all plastic linings of canned products and is very bad for you. Upsets hormone balance and weakens the immune system.

8. No Calcium which means no dairy products -- no milk, cheese, yoghurt etc. Avoid calcium fortified foods. Excess calcium encourages acidity and thereby aids the spread of candida.

9. No Monosodium Glutamate(MSG) allowed. This means that all soy products made from a chemical process -- including soy sauce, tofu etc. Are not allowed. Avoid all products with added MSG. But any soy products made from the natural fermentation process are OK and allowed in small amounts.

10. Avoid distilled water and tap-water. Distilled water is "dead water" -- it completely lacks any important body minerals that natural spring-water contains. Tap-water nowadays -- due to water shortages -- is now re-cycled and chemically processed from sewage(especially in cities), so Lord only knows what evil goodies tap-water contains. Enough said I think. Drink fresh mineral or spring water or create your own mineral water instead.

11. Try and avoid all (chemically) processed food if you can. Try and eat foods that are made from natural processes without excess heating or use of chemicals/pesticides.

12. When you eat food, don't always rush and over-stuff yourself, as this leads to poor, inefficient digestion and acid intestines. There is always a lag from when you feel hungry to when you are satisfied but if you eat too fast, this is not good for you. Eat your food slower and drink plenty of water at mealtimes for proper digestion. The Chinese -- and Okinawans -- normally eat until they feel 70-80% full, then they stop. This is also good simple dietary practice.

All the above precautions are purely to encourage a healthy body and to create an environment that is very bad for candida. Of course this diet must be adopted as well as Ted's anti-candida protocols for complete success to be assured against systemic candida.

Just wanted to say thank you for writing back. I have tried almost every remedy on here for the past seven years, you name it I have tried it , researched, cross referenced , tried again. I have so much knowledge and have studies enough mycology reports to fill many of desks. I dont want this to be my life. Some things work some don't. I guess the most important thing to me in my life is my husband and this stuff has really taken up a lot of the creative space. I am a very strict eater and sometimes its easy and I know what to do but other times I worry because my husband is thin and a candida diet is hard to keep weight on him and carbs help with energy but are not aloud and protein is hard to digest and is acidic. I think clear when I have carbs and I feel stronger when I have protein but I don't very often anymore because of all the different answers. I just started Apple Cider Vinegar and baking soda and I am trying not to get my hopes up. I digress.. I am here to say thank you for your words.... Blessings

I have a question for Bill. I know you have precisely laid out the remedies for candida but what exactly can I eat??? Currently I am eating everything that is bad for candida it seems like. I need a diet plan to go along with the remedies. I know the basics NO SUGAR but it seems like everything has sugar. I am also considering a 5 day fast.

Hello everyone... Concerning amounts and clearly laid references to remedies concerning fungus and candida, I wrote a clearly laid out remedy -- all based on Ted's remedies -- a while ago which got rid of my own systemic candida. As well, I have updated it to what I would use and am using now to keep clear of fungus problems and keep my body healthy. Here is the EarthClinic link to the remedies I used for candida:

https://www.earthclinic.com/cures/mystery-diagnosis.html

The candida remedy is in the second comment in the stream from the top of the page.

When I had candida 5 years ago, I used all these remedies on a daily basis. Systemic candida is not easy to kill, and will take 6 months to a year to get rid of systemic candida particularly. So be patient.

To clear up misunderstandings about alkalizing with sodium bicarbonate -- You can use sodium bicarbonate on its own in half a glass of water. I use 1/2 tspn sodium bicarbonate in half a glass of water, but I'm a 200 lbs guy. If you're significantly smaller, then use 1/4 tspn Sodium Bicarbonate. Take this two or three times a day. Taking sodium bicarb on its own in half a glass of water cures acid reflux when taken 1/2 hour after eating(and the food is in the duodenum) as well as helps to alkalizes the blood.

And whether I use two tablespoons of Apple Cider Vinegar, or use one squeezed lemon or use one squeezed lime I always add about 1/2 tspn Sodium Bicarbonate to the solution in half a glass of water. If you prefer, you can add the 1/2 tspn sodium bicarbonate to the ACV or lemon juice or lime juice in half a glass of water until the fizzing stops. By adding a little extra Sodium Bicarbonate(which is what I do), this buffers the final solution ensuring that the beneficial malate or citrate salts that form are in an alkaline solution. More beneficial. If you are taking these alkalizing remedies for candida -- always alkalize at least one hour before a meal and two hours after a meal to avoid interference with digestion at mealtimes(the exception here is if you have acid reflux).

I still use all these remedies regularly today -- they're good for other small problems as well. I'm over 60 years old and now candida free with no aches and pains, a good heart and I haven't been ill with flu, colds or anything for about the past 4 or 5 years.

Cricket, I found out the hard way to ingest these suggestions carefully. As much as I wanted to be mad at at the person who made the post, I had to assume personal responsibility. While I agree in some cases more information is needed, "some turmeric" Well how much is some, 1 teaspoon? A tablespoon?

Plus a big thing to remember, most of these people who write in their remedies are not holistic professionals. They are just folks who are sick of being sick and traditional meds have not helped. Not to discount the fact their remedies may work very well for them, but not for you.

What I do is try the remedies that interest me, and leave the rest. I hope you cure your candida, from what I have read its a nasty condition that takes months to rid yourself of. Above all give the remedies a chance to work. It seems people who successfully remove candida are totally dedicated to some kind of routine. To me it makes sense to use an anti candida diet, eliminating refined foods, sugars, and even high sugar fruits. Good luck to you Cricket.

I agree it'd be easier if remedies were complete and easily summed up but keep in mind, this site is just regular people researching online and experimenting with what they find, like you, and reporting back here (especially when traditional medicine isn't working or is too expensive). If your candida and leaky gut is really severe and you need a lot of detailed info, it might be best to work with a local naturopath doctor of some sort (or even travel a little if need be). They do have a database of healers listed on this website (although its limited for WA).

Ted Help :Severe candida :
How am I supposed to eat protein if it is acidic? I have a difficult time digesting much of anything. If I eat some chicken another site says to eat protein meat so that the acids/chyme in the tummy will start producing so that I dont have such a hard time with digesting or to take Hcl. The acid needs carbonates (usually released by the pancreas) to neutralize the acid before released into our intestines. No one says how to know if you take HCL that your pancreas is releasing enough carbonates so no harm is being done to the intestines. Nobody ever gives directions except that you need to take HCL 45 min after you eat your protein.

I also have leaky gut and the acid will hurt my lining even more. Baking soda is fine to take with your meat if it doesn't make you dead thirsty and hands swell for hours afterwards like it did me but if I was taking it with my meat I would be neutralizing the acid used to digest my protein anyway. Directions like, wait two hours after eating your meat then take BS and then tell me why and if in those two hours the lining of my tummy has not been damaged even more.

When you folks give advice you really need to give more in depth information. Folks like me have been spending two hours a day or more on the internet for years trying to heal severe candida when we could be spending this time with are loved ones who I am sure really are sick of hearing about our diets, white mouth after eating anything that is not steamed veggies. This can be very hard on a relationship. I do love that this place is here, don't get me wrong but it can be so frustrating sometimes when all you can eat is food combined foods and very few of them at that. Thank You for reading my gripes and questions.
