Constipation

Help with baby constipation
Please help- I have a nine month old girl at home with a chronic constipation problem for the last 6 months. If I let her go on her own she may have a BM once or twice a week and they are very painful for her to pass and very large. The doctors are not much help and I've done everything they have suggested with little change and even that only temporary.
I have tried the following: baby laxative consisting of magnesium citrate, changing formulas (from Enfamil lipil to Enfamil gentle ease-helped for about 3 weeks, earths best organic, and a couple of others), raw milk from Jersey cows, omega 3 supplement, probiotic, fresh fruit including peaches, pears, apples, apple juice, pears juice at least 4-5 oz a day which worked for 2 days then stopped working I stopped giving it to her because I feel that is too much juice, fresh blended spinach, Epsom salt baths, massage with almond oil and lavender essential oil, q-tip with Vaseline,
thermometer with Vaseline both inserted to stimulate a movement, steamed broccoli, raw garlic, dark corn syrup, concord grape juice diluted, aloe vera juice and now against what I believe to be nutritious soy formula. I give her liquid suppositories to make her go but she is now holding her BM in because it is so painful for her. I am trying enemas to help but she tenses up before I can insert them and I don't want to hurt her. Please if anyone knows of something I have missed please tell me.
I don't know what else to do for her. She's had an X-Ray which came back normal- nothing keeping her from having a BM. Also she only began having this problem when I began supplementing her with formula when I wasn't producing enough milk. While she was on breast milk she had no issues. But when I went back to work I slowly lost my supply and since then she has had this problem.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Answer for Jsingh from Mon, Canada about child cavities.
Try to find pH paper to confirm that your child's saliva is acidic. Then the solution is to alkalize. Read Ted's post there https://www.earthclinic.com/cures/children_and_infants.html . Also search for Acid/Alkaline balance in the web. The less process food the better. A lot of vegetables is good.
Also, a way to alkalize the mouth is to swish or gargle with Milk of Magnesia (MOM). Try to find the "original" type, as the new ones have more chemicals added.
Good Luck

this is for Jsingh; buy a bottle of castor oil and let your son swish around one cork for about 10-15 mins each days. within a week or two you will start to notice the improvements in his teeth.
Low Muscle Tone
Posted by Vcanfield (San Antonio, Tx) on 08/02/2009
My daughter has a genetic disorder and in my research I found low muscle tone is very common in genetic disorders. Don't let it scare you though, genetic disorders are a lot more common than people think, many of them have few symptoms and do not affect a persons life very much. It is just something you might want to look into if it becomes a concern.
Diarrhea

My toddler had a really bad recurring case of a stomach virus we had all picked up, but gotten over. I tried all the typical things that had ALWAYS worked in the past...colloidal silver, slippery elm, oil of oegano, with no results. My chiropractor told me to give him hydrated bentonite (you'll find it at the health food store). I gave him one tablespoon before bed and one in the morning and his diarrhea completely disappeared. This also worked for a friend who was going to admit her toddler into the hopital for diarrhea with the same results. When I researched it on the internet, I found that Bentonite as a cure for diarrhea has a 96% success rate.

BRAT diet is ok... but if if its too severe .. perhaps your baby needs a different antibiotic like ofloxacin, ciprofloxacin ...pps ask your doc regarding this ...i personally used BRAT plus curd set at home using low fat milk (unsweetened)..it helps...you can also use mashed boiled potatoes (skinned)....with a pinch of salt

Dear Sandra, your baby might have Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome, an inherited disorder. Collagen in the body is more flexible than normal-not sick, just bendy! I have it and so do my 3 kids. Find a genetic clinic such as Medigen or Sick Kids, she will walk and talk and dance soon! Meanwhile good nutrition, gentle regular exercise and happy outlook help a lot! is anybody else bendy in your family?-also known as "loose-jointed"
Headaches in Children

My 6 1/2 year old daughter has started getting headaches from the past 2 months. I took her to the GP who couldn't find the cause. She wears glasses and I have recently got it checkes and her power hasn't changed. I am not able to figure what could be the cause of it. I or my husband never got headaches when we were young (we don't get it even now). I only get headaches very rarely when I have skipped a meal or when I have been too much in the sun. I thought these could be the reasons for my daughter to get it too. But from the past 2 days, I have avoided that for her and she still got the headache. Sometimes shortly after she wakes up, she has a slight headache. When it is slight, she is able to do her normal routine, play with her friends, etc. The headache is not accompanied with any nausea, vomitting, etc. A couple times she has got fever after the headache, but it goes off with 1 or 2 doses of over the counter fever/pain medication.
She is a little bit heavier than she should be, so I have been taking her for running on a field. Sometimes I have noticed that as soon as I mention that we have to go to the field, she gets a headache. And I know she is not lying. Could it be tension headache? I have told her this week I will not take her for running, instead just short walks on the street around the house (which she loves as we get to talk about all she likes to talk). I am going to check out this week by not taking her for running and if it continues, take her to padetrician next week.
What else could be the cause of her headache? And what are possible remedies. I don't think she would drink ACV or Cayenne pepper.

High fever 103.9 and voimiting. Have you ever heard of having this bad of a reaction to swimmers itch? Maybe there is some other parasite in the lake water. I am very concerned and need to know what to do for her. She has been to the doctor but they are not taking this swimmers ithc thing seriously. She has sevaral bites on her body and this is the 2nd time she has gotton sick from it. The first time I thought was just a fluke but now I am think that there is something in that water. Salt Water Soaks

2 months ago, My 1 yr. old had gotten a yeast infection and it was sooo disgusting, with pus filled bubbles and everything. We did the athlete's foot creams, and only temporarily helped, soaked him in baking soda 3x a day and applying the cream after. Helped but doctor suggested a prescription cream, worked too, but a couple days later, it came back
We were headed to the coast that week and my father suggested to stick him in the salt water. My father said he would always get hurt with fishing hooks and stuff on deep sea fishing trips and such, but took a swim in the saltwater before coming home. I didn't want to, but while I was tanning, and daddy was swimming, neither of us noticed my father run off with him in the water. It didn't seem to hurt my son, so we pulled out a small pool for him and put a couple of buckets of salt water for him to play in. Later that night we took him a good bath and it seemed clearer and the next morning, the RASH WAS COMPLETELY GONE!! Hasn't comeback since.[this is like 3rd week]
I suggest taking a vakay, and sitting your child in a small pool of salt water, even with minor cuts and scrapes. I scraped my knee that day and it healed too after swimming. The salt water just cleans it all out, killing the infection, and cut, so it stays sterilized. Take a real good bath and check it out in the morning. I should have brought some home.. lol

Kaylin, thanks for posting your experience! I've heard of cavities filling back in - my daughter has 2 cavities and I don't want to have them filled. Every other part of our body can heal itself given the right nutrition and environment, why not our teeth? I've just read an article written by a dentist that linked homogenized milk to cavities.
Cod liver oil is reported to help cavities heal, and I know having a mineral supplement can help with re-mineralization of teeth. I've also been reading that oil pulling helps cavities heal.

May I suggest the external application of 3% Hydrogen Peroxide and then apply "DMSO" ON TOP OF IT this puts the HP directly in contact with the bacteria or virus, also I've used "MMS" AND THEN DMSO ON TOP OF IT ALSO. The link for MMS is www.miraclemineral.org, And it does more than you can imagine.....GB.. JACK

My son used to have terrible teeth. I say USED TO because we have had marvelous success! When my son was 6 1/2 our regular dentist sent us to a pediatric dentist to have a couple of cavities filled. The pediatric dentist decided to put in 2 crowns because the structure of the teeth was so terrible. Yikes! Crowns at 6! Shortly after that I stopped buying breakfast cereal because it was killing our budget. Keep in mind, I NEVER bought "sugary" cereal. It was always organic, low-sugar "healthy" cereal. I have always been health-conscious and limited the sugar my children ate, which is why it was so discouraging for my son to have such horrible teeth.
At my son's next appointment (6 months after I started feeding him eggs for breakfast instead of cereal) our dentist sent us back to the pediatric dentist to get another small cavity filled. The pediatric dentist decided not to fill the cavity because it was so small and my son's oral hygiene was so much better. (I do NOT believe that this was due to better brushing. His brushing habits have not changed).
Shortly after that I read Nourishing Traditions by Sally Fallon, which is the cookbook based on Weston A. Price's research. I started feeding my children raw milk from grass-fed cows, farm eggs, homemade bread (with delayed-fermentation techniques), honey, etc. At my son's next 6-month dentist appointment I asked the dentist how the cavity was. The dentist said THERE WAS NO CAVITY. IT WAS GONE AND THE TOOTH WAS COMPLETELY HARD!!!!!! I have never heard of a cavity healing, but my son's did! The news made my whole year!
Keep following the Weston A. Price-type recommendations and you're sure to find improvement.
Also, relating to the recommendation above about keeping the body alkaline, Kombucha is very alkalinizing. I make it at home as it is way too expensive to buy. My children absolutely love it. They think it tastes like pop, but of course it's completely healthy.

★★★☆☆WORKED TEMPORARILY
My nearly 4 year old daughter has had a itchy, sometimes painful rash on her bottom for nearly 3 months now. We have tried antifungal creams (prescription and over-the-counter, antibacterial creams, A & D, yogurt, baking soda, oatmeal baths, etc. nothing seems to help for long. Has anyone been through something similar? We are going back to the pediatrician next week. We have the first available dermatologist appointment at the end of July. We have also tried homeopathic sulpher.

My 22 month old was diagnosed as being anemic because of low iron count last month his iron count was 10pts the average is 12pts or higher. We had already been giving him high iron food and a vitamin with iron in it and nothing would bring the count up. The pediatrician gave us an iron drop supplement to give him, i didnt feel comfortable giving it to him because of all the side effects. Someone told me to try black strap molasses because it was high in iron. So i gave it a try and in 3 weeks his iron count went from 10pts to 14pts!!! We just gave it to him in his soymilk bottle.

Colloidal Silver is the answer! It is an amazing NATURAL antibiotic. There are many websites that speak of it's amazing properties. Don't believe the lies, they FDA doesn't want you to get it - it's CHEAP! They want you to spend money on their drugs. Anyway, remember that old saying "born with a silver spoon in his mouth" - silver was and is an amazing health promoting miracle.

Hi, Cradle cap and even baby acne for my son was cured in about a week. I used Colloidal Silver to cure the acne, it's gentle enough to even put in a babies eyes, so this is fine. I even gave him a few drops in his mouth usually every day, he was not sick until 7 months old when a doc told me to stop using it. Anyway, I used a cotton ball to apply the silver (or clean fingers), then put Pure Extra Virgin Coconut Oil on his dry/acne skin. Within a week or so it was gone! My baby had acne even on his earlobes...

Hello Jsingh, You said you aren't giving that seven year old much sugar, but is a good part of that sugar in carbonated beverages? If so, all carbonated beverages are acid and the acid eats into the enamel on the teeth causing cavities. They are said to be more harmful to the teeth than a candy bar, but omitting or at least limiting both is a good idea.
Some dental problems are started by the habit of letting an infant or toddler go to bed with a bottle of milk. Matter of fact, the medical field tagged tooth decay from this problem as "milk teeth" in discussions of it.

He also takes prevacid adult dose of 15 mg and it is not right to do this to a child with an adult dosage.. Please respond
Turmeric for Boils

Ruma- Thank you for your response. I give my daughter a babyspoonful of raw honey about two times a day (breakfast and bedtime). I could try mixing a little turmeric into it, however I'm afraid it might discourage her from taking it the next time. It's already somewhat of a struggle to get her to swallow it as is, she is getting better at it because it is our routine. I will definately give it a try.

Sandra- Thank you for the tip. I can definately sneak the ACV into some apple juice. I completely forgot about VCO, I can mix that into her yogurt. I started applying ACV to the boils last night. They seemed a bit smaller this morning. Last night I encouraged (more like enforced) her to drink about 2 oz of ACV/baking soda in alkalized water. We shared the glass. I also use turmeric in my cooking, I just dont believe a teaspoon of turmeric in my meals will make a difference. I will remain hopeful and appreciate everyone's input.

Hi, you could perhaps try adding a little bit of vinegar to some apple juice to disguise the taste ( I would try adding a little bit of baking soda to some ACV, allowing it to react for about 5 minutes and then adding it to some good quality apple juice, with no high-fructose syrup, etc), also you can add turmeric to your child's diet by using it in the foods you cook, for instance, you can add a little bit of turmeric to sauteed onions and then use the seasoned onions to make a soup or any other dish. Another thing would be adding a little bit of coconut oil to make fruit smoothies (just blend some milk with a banana and the oil), etc.

I also have a 2 year old daughter. To get her to drink ACV, I measure a 1/2 teaspoon into her 8 ounce milk cup at the start of the day (more than that amount is noticed by her). Once all of the milk with ACV is drunk, then I serve her regular whole milk for the rest of the day. This was the only way I could get her to ingest it for her breathing and sinus ailments. When needed, I use the mixture 5 days on and 2 days off.

Turmeric is a hard one to like. It is sometimes mixed with liberal amounts of honey just to get kids to swallow the stuff. But, then again, the turmeric we use in India for medicinal purposes is always fresh, never powder, so I am not sure how the powder would mix with the honey. I have seen fresh turmeric in some shops in the US, but I am sure it will be difficult to track down.
