I do suffer from diabetes for several years. Several weeks ago I went to the doctor and they told me that my cholesterol was quite high 210. I began taking ACV once a day 2 tablespoons a day. In about a month time my cholesterol went down to 160 and blood pressure to 1about 120/80. I noticed that it is suggested to take at least to take the ACV twice to three times a day. Also is the unfiltered product is being used. Has anyone used the capsules? Two tablets do contain 600 mg of ACV. What have been the results of using the capsules? Appreciate comments. Thank you

First, thanks for the website. I, sadly, have NOT found that ACV lowered my cholesterol. In fact, my LDL and overall Levels are actually UP (slightly) since my last blood test. However, (and this is a big however) something else odd happened in the 9 weeks I have been taking ACV (dosage: one mouthful each morning). After almost a year of no change in my Triglycerides, they dropped a whopping 32% since my last blood test. There simply IS no other explanation other than the ACV - none. The only "possible" reason for this - is that in the last 2 weeks I started a low GI diet. Even then, 2 weeks of not eating watermelon is hardly a reasonable explanation for a 32% drop in blood fat (triglycerides), and often what is good in the low GI - is blacklisted on a Triglyceride diet - such as apples, oranges, peaches etc....all of which I have been consuming recently in carnivorous fashion. For the record; Everyone needs to keep in mind that 80% of your Cholesterol is produced by your body...but Triglycerides are nearly 100% dietary and exercise related.

I have been taking acv for about 45 days to lower my cholesterol and in hopes of helping my blood pressure. Today, 2-14-2007 I went to my doctor for blood work. My b/p was 177 (higher then I want) but my good cholesterol was much better then my bad. I am happy and will continue my 2 times a day of 2T/acv in a glass with 1/4 t/baking soda. Thanks.

I am 48 yrs old and have suffered from severe insomnia for 9 years. I have taken ambien sleeping pills for the last 5 years just to get a good night sleep. I started taking apple cider vinegar and baking soda for eczema and it CURED my insomnia. I mean totally cured. No more sleeping pills and I am not exaggerating when I say I sleep like i did in my 20's. At first my skin felt like it was burning for a couple of days then when it was gone so were many ailments. It also lowered my cholesterol 30 points, and I no longer have acid reflux. Thank you for your website. Its been such a blessing.

My osteopath prescribed red yeast rice for elevated triglycerides/cholesterol. Despite looking fit my triglycerides were so high that I was borderline diabetic. I took these daily and now my triglycerides are normal and my cholesterol is below 200 (very important as my Father died in his 40s from heart disease). Red Yeast rice is a statin and is so effective that a prominent drug company tried to get it taken off shelves as they argued it was infringing on their patent. Red yeast rice is available at most health food stores and is best taken with coenzyme q10.

My cholesterol has always been high around 276 and my doctor did not believe at that time to treat it, I am in good shape, but when I turned 64, he put me on simvastatin 20 MG. My legs started to cramp up immediately, so I stopped and told him i would research other ways.I saw some data on Red Yeast Rice and took it for 3 months and had my blood tested, my cholesterol droped 40 points my TG went down, he said keep doing what you are doing. I also take 1000 MG of Flax seed. The Red Yeast Rice I cut back to 600MG every other day. I will get my blood tested next week and see what is going on. Test Kidney and Liver. I cut back because i had some very minor stomach reaction. I found that you should check all the ingredients in Red Yeast Rice, you want no other items in it. I purchase it from a Health Store where i can talk to the owner who is an Herbalist. By my dropping the dosage it may not be that effective. I will wait for my tests and then I will react. I have no intention on trying to reduce cholesterol to below 200, I think you can put to much of anything into your body. I will post after my blood tests. Thanks

My cholesterol was a little high (212) although my ratio of low to high density cholesterol was fine. I was already using a low carbohydrate diet and I added 1 tablespoon of extra virgin coconut oil daily. After 3 months, my blood work was re-done. My total cholesterol had declined to 187.

I use coconut oil anytime that I get a sunburn and it works like a charm to relieve the skin and to help prevent peeling. I also know that when people in my family began to cook with it instead of any other oil they had a drop in cholesterol.

Success! I have been using virgin coconut oil for the past 4 months, typically 2-3 Tbs a day. I just received my blood test results. Total Cholesterol 234, HDL 86, LDL 131, Triglycerides 83, Fasting blood glucose 96. While my overall cholesterol did increase from last year's 182, my HDL was much higher than last year's 60. LDL also increased from last year's 102. I am extremely pleased with these results since the all important ratio (Total/HDL) decreased from 3.0 to 2.7. Finally, I have also found it amazing that I have not had a cold or any illness during this time. In the past, I would normally get some kind of sore throat or cold during the winter months. Energy levels are high and I do find that the coconut oil also keeps me regular.

Curry leaf (Murraya Koenigi Spreng) protects the liver and the liver cells and is even used as medicinal cure of certain liver diseases, the control of high blood pressure, heart disease, diabetes and high cholesterol especially. It is an excellent culinary herb for fat reduction. Curry leaf not only makes a dish palatable but also adds flavour and nourishment too. Almost every part of the plant, its leaves, the root, bark, petals and fruits are all made use of either in cooking or medicinal purposes. Spicy curry leaves porridge is useful in the control of health problems. Even if stung by a snake, curry leaves porridge is commonly given to remove poison. It was considered a multi-purpose, all time herb.

My reason for visiting this web site right now is for getting information on lowering cholesterol. I am currently using just ACV with grape juice and apple juice. I started out with a lot of ACV, but now have reduced the amount. I will try the 2 cups grape juice, 1 cup apple juice, and 1/4 cup ACV. I will try to dilute it into water, and drink it over two days. I will try this formula for two to three more months before rechecking my cholesterol.

My cholesterol increased from 200 to 212, but my doctor wasn't concerned because my HDL went from 40 to 55, while my LDL reduced from 152 to 149. My triglycerides level is always very low.

I started my regular exercise program using my treadmil, while eating oatmeal in the morning, taking fish oil and flaxseed oil. I also eat salmon and very healthy diet. I will see what will happen in two to three months using ACV remedy. I am hoping for a nice result.
