Oil Pulling

I started OP first thing in the morning with Sunflower Oil for 12 to 15 minutes about 6 weeks ago because of a recurring gum infection from a gum flap that catches food though I did miss two days a week when away from home. It did the trick, nipping another infection in the bud that started during one of those 2 day lapses before it became inflamed and painful.

Ironically I started OP a couple of weeks before my quarterly blood cholesterol profile which was shockingly lower than it has been in spite of being on Lipitor for years! For the first time in my adult life, total cholesterol dropped below 190 (down 30 points) and LDL below 100 (down 25 points), making me a huge believer in OP. I don't intend to change the Sunflower oil to another unless those numbers go back upwards in a future profile.

Additionally, my teeth are whiter without wearing away enamel, postmenopausal hot flushes have decreased in frequency and intensity, and my morning coffee afterward OP is delicious LOL

my sister was told by her doctor recently that she has high cholesterol. she asked him about using ACV for this and the doctor started laughing. now this really bothers me. obviously he has not done any research on this. if he had he would have told her that some people find it helps - even if he didn't believe in it himself.

this is a very bad thing; now my sister is not sure she should take it and she is now lipitor or something else for her cholesterol - and she is only 28. i can't believe that doctors don't do research. this is the same sister that has had many immune system problems and even had the lymph nodes under her arms removed. it seems to me that the doctors would be looking for less toxic aproaches to treating things like this but suprisingly her doctor is not.....

I am commenting on this message regarding ACV along with the garlic and water. I am on medication for type 2 diabetes, cholesterol and high blood pressure medication. I know that all of these medications can and will play havoc with your body. I am definately going to try this and hopefully it will take me off all meds. Thank you for this advise.

When you refer to garlic should the entire bulb be used or a piece of the bulb ?

Wondering if those who have experienced such luck with taking ACV for cholestrol have also made dietary and exercise changes as well. If so, please let us know this as they factor into the success. It would be good to know what the total program is so one can gauge the success.

I'm going in for blood work next week..while still on the meds...after that, going to stick with the ACV for 3-6 months then test again... Also I have stopped taking acid reflux over the counter drugs and using ACV - will be back in 30 days to give the acid relux update.

I am sorry but there is good evidence nowadays that eggs have nothing to do with cholesterol! Also the liver makes much more cholesterol than what you could ever eat so if you eat a bit more the liver will make less! I have no idea who Edgar Cayce is but I don't think that he is right!

My reason for visiting this web site right now is for getting information on lowering cholesterol. I am currently using just ACV with grape juice and apple juice. I started out with a lot of ACV, but now have reduced the amount. I will try the 2 cups grape juice, 1 cup apple juice, and 1/4 cup ACV. I will try to dilute it into water, and drink it over two days. I will try this formula for two to three more months before rechecking my cholesterol.

My cholesterol increased from 200 to 212, but my doctor wasn't concerned because my HDL went from 40 to 55, while my LDL reduced from 152 to 149. My triglycerides level is always very low.

I started my regular exercise program using my treadmil, while eating oatmeal in the morning, taking fish oil and flaxseed oil. I also eat salmon and very healthy diet. I will see what will happen in two to three months using ACV remedy. I am hoping for a nice result.

Antiviral remedies? Olive leaf, Elderberry, silver solution (ionic), and a component of coconut oil (lauric, caprylic acid). I know I personally feel better after eating greens (like the Popeye-spinach), but I don't know if this is related to your problem. Good luck!

Red Yeast Rice
Posted by Katie M (Hale, Mi) on 05/19/2013

I've read a few of the posts on red rice yeast and I would like to comment as an RN. First, keep in mind that if you have the misfortune of having hypercholesterolemia, you must continue treating it. Your LDL may lower with treatment but will return to high # when you stop treatment. Secondly, to the gentleman who doesn't want to lower his # below 200? I will see you in my CCU unit someday when you have a heart attack because your cholesterol was too high! Don't forget about the HDL! (Good cholesterol) it is just as important! It helps to eliminate the "Bad" LDL. Omega-3 fatty acids! 2-3 grams daily.

I do suffer from diabetes for several years. Several weeks ago I went to the doctor and they told me that my cholesterol was quite high 210. I began taking ACV once a day 2 tablespoons a day. In about a month time my cholesterol went down to 160 and blood pressure to 1about 120/80. I noticed that it is suggested to take at least to take the ACV twice to three times a day. Also is the unfiltered product is being used. Has anyone used the capsules? Two tablets do contain 600 mg of ACV. What have been the results of using the capsules? Appreciate comments. Thank you

I have been taking 2 tbsp of acv in water every morning for about 8 years. My cholesterol has been consistently around 260-278 for the past three years, up from 220-230's. Should I take more? I don't want to go on medication. and my 'good' count is too low now. It all worries me.

You may need to take a look at your diet as well. Don't rely on one fix, but look at your overall health. Include exercise when possible. You may be one of the people that needs the meds afterall, but try some other fixs first.

After reading a lot of articles about dealing with gallstones in the USA, I found out that a little is mentioned, or not at all, about laser surgery that has been for long time in practice in european countries for removing gallstones. Ask your doctor about it... Also, a very good remedy for lowering or getting rid of a bad cholesterol is a homemade apple vinegar. It tastes like an apple cider, just it's very sour. If you have a chance to come across a book of bosnian homemade remedies, get it! Also, dates are very good fruit for the women who cannot get pregnant.

My b/p was 177 (higher then I want) but my good cholesterol was much better then my bad. I am happy and will continue my 2 times a day of 2T/acv in a glass with 1/4 t/baking soda. Thanks.

I ran across this site recently. I've been looking for natural ways to lower my cholesterol and blood pressure without having to take a lot of pills every day. It never occurred to me that my fathers remedy to cure his children's illnesses would also prevent high blood pressure. My father drank 12 ounce mug of honey and apple cider vinegar in hot water every day for as long as I can remember. His cholesterol levels and blood pressure was never high. It was always normal. He did pass away several years ago due to a heart attack. However, this was not brought on by cholesterol or blood pressure. This was due to pneumonia, which he got every year for about 15 years. Still today, when I've feeling slightly ill, I make myself a cup of honey and vinegar. I made this for an ex about 3-4 years ago. He couldn't believe how much better he felt within 45 minutes after drinking honey and acv. He didn't believe me that it would work. He was amazed.

Apple Cider Vinegar has cured high cholesterol, high blood pressure and gout. 2 tbl spoons in a glass of cold water every morning. This is truly God's gift to mankind. You will never need another pill, ever. By the way, the gout was caused by taking the pills prescribed by my doctor. (rosuvastatin 10 mg ). It's such a pleasure to be able to pass on such good news. God bless you all.

Tried the ACV and it triggered a gout attack. It's too acid for me. I had to chug black cherry juice and take capsules to pull out of it. I would not reccomend ACV for gout sufferers. Looks like it won't work for me. Dang!!

Apple Cider Vinegar

I think you should have persisted with the ACV since, according to Dr Jarvis, it flushes out acid and makes the body more alkaline. Methinks it could have been a herxheimer reaction while your body was doing the flushing?

BETTER BUT WITH SIDE EFFECTS

I also experienced leg cramps while taking red yeast rice. However, I found that switching to taking it in the a.m. and not the afternoon or p.m. made a huge difference. I don't even get cramps every day now.

I am pro Red Yeast because after taking it about a year, my total numbers dropped 50 points! From 289 to 233 and my ratios all improved (they were good before, now even better). Not much change in diet other than that. I take just ONE 600 mg capsule per day.

Avoid Trans Fats

High cholesterol can be lowered by avoiding foods with trans fats in them. Trans fats tend to raise LDL (bad) cholesterol and lower HDL (good) cholesterol. They are suspected of causing many health problems, including obesity, type 2 diabetes, and rigid arteries. In the ingredients list, if you see "partially hydrogenated" oils, do not eat. For more information go to www.bantransfats.com

For those who want to save money and be healthy, find an MD of Integrative Medicine. Sometimes it is also called Functional Medicine or Orthomolecular Medicine. If you use a chiropractor or other natural practicioner, your insurance probably won't pay for it. If you cannot afford insurance, use a naturopath or nutritionist. It is also not necesary to purchase your supplements from your practicioner. You will pay double for them. There are many quality brands but cheapest is probably not best quality. Check out Consumerlabs.com. I use iherb. Com, vitacost. Com, amazon. com, and luckyvitamin.com.

I'm 39 years old, 6'-0" 188lbs. I'm a pretty healthy looking athletic guy. I've been doing boxing training twice a week for 1.5 hours.... or surfing once a week 1 hour.

Anyways, I've had high cholesterol for at least 10 years. Once, it was recorded as high as 350. Other times it's been 250 or 230... Anyways, I was put on Simbastatin.

I started waking up in the middle of the night feeling out of breath. My first few breaths would hurt my chest until my lungs became re-inflated. Finally, I put two and two together, and realized it was the Statin. so.... My blood test came in at 207, which is great for me..... 145ldl, 39hdl, 93 trig. BUT, breathing is a priority for me right now.

So, I told my doctor I'm not taking the drugs anymore. I now realize my hair loss, memory loss, etc.... could all be results of the statins I've been taking for nearly 5 years.

I'm going to try this ACV, and red rice yeast, and Lecithin...... and see what happens.

Wish me luck.

You may want to reconsider the red rice yeast. It is well known that it will give a person the same side effects as the statins because of its similar chemical structure. It did me. I couldn't tolerate any of the statins either. Bad muscle pain. I am 62 and had a heart attack 12 years ago followed by 7 vessel bypass surgery, then 8 stents. They all clogged up and I had bypass surgery again 3 months ago. I'm not convinced that cholesterol was the clogging factor but I am going to give the vinegar a good try. I think it may have been the fact that I took calcium supplements since about age twenty. My arteries were very "calcified."
